I choose this book at our local library as part of our summer fun week theme "transportation." My kids are currently 1, 3 and 10 and we all learned a lot from this book. (Also choose Things That Gofor the little one.) I couldn't ask for a more comprehensive collection of information on the who what when where why and how of transportation. My three year old enjoyed asking me about the pictures (which I was able to answer by reading the subtext), and it opened up tons of discussion with my 10 year old, making it great for self-guided summer learning. We even somehow got on the topic of route 66 and the history told through "Cars". We read parts of this both before and after our trip to the St. Louis Museum of Transportation which houses a good collection of cars and trains (but a disappointing collection of other forms of transport), making our visit more meaningful.
