Publication Date: January 3, 2013 Letty Dobesh: thief, junkie, pick-pocket, felon. But now, for the first time in ages, she's also clean and sober, just out of rehab, and on a cross-country trip to reunite with her estranged little boy.
Enter psychotic mercenary Isaiah Brown with a proposal that scratches at her oldest itch, something Letty has dreamed of all her life—the ultimate Vegas score. An ingenious plan to take down a casino that might actually work.
All that's standing between Letty and an inconceivable pile of money is the pick-pocket of a lifetime. One risky, impossible grab. Pull it off, and retire. But mess things up, and Letty Dobesh will lose everything she holds dear, including her life.
NOTE: Grab is approximately 25,000 words or about 140 pages.
Blake Crouch is a bestselling novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of the forthcoming novel, Dark Matter, for which he is writing the screenplay for Sony Pictures. His international-bestselling Wayward Pines trilogy was adapted into a television series for FOX, executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan, that was Summer 2015’s #1 show. With Chad Hodge, Crouch also created Good Behavior, the TNT television show starring Michelle Dockery based on his Letty Dobesh novellas. He has written more than a dozen novels that have been translated into over thirty languages and his short fiction has appeared in numerous publications including Ellery Queen and Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine. Crouch lives in Colorado with his family.
Grab is part of a series of novellas that feature Blake Crouch's all-time favorite character creation: Letty Dobesh. You may be familiar with this character from TNT's television series: Good Behavior. Pieces of Grab can be seen in Good Behavior: Season 1, Episodes 1 and 5, but this Letty Dobesh story has yet to make it to TV/film. It's a shame too because Grab is one hell of a ride! The thriller/suspense element is off the charts! This one would have been an easy 5-star rating for me but the twist at the end was way too far-fetched for my personal taste and my imagination is pretty broad. But the bulk of this story was perfection in terms of Letty's character development and the planning, execution, and spontaneous problem solving of an epic casino heist. Whether you are familiar with Letty's character or not, any of the Letty Dobesh novellas are well-worth the read. Check them out!
Note: I read this story as part of Blake Crouch's Kindle in Motion ebook: Good Behavior. Good Behavior comprises all three interlinked novellas (The Pain of Others, Sunset Key, and Grab), which together form a novel-length portrait of Letty Dobesh's character. I highly recommend this collection for fans of character-based thrillers.
The third book in the Good Behavior series focuses on a "sure thing" ultimate Las Vegas heist. It seems wll planned. What could go wrong? Can Letty catch a break this time and rake in a big haul? The plans go off-track when their back up driver doesn't show, Letty finds a replacement and here come the twists in their grand plan. This story continually raises the stakes, it's a quick page-turner, things don't go as planned and Bake Crouch doesn't disappoint all the way to the end. I love Letty Debosh, a great character.
Grab is a story where Letty gets sucked into a Vegas Casino robbery. It was OK, definitely my least favorite of the 3. The ending was good when Richter was the one pulling all the strings from the beginning

Christian was such a surprise! I couldn’t believe he was Richter. The first novella was a bit dark. But the other two were very good. The twists kept coming. I did expect to see Christian do something out of the ordinary and it was not a let down.

Okay, that was fun. Reads like a novelization of a tele/screenplay, which I suppose it later did. I can picture the cast now, too. I never saw the show, don’t know who Michelle Dockery is, so they’re my imaginings… might have to check out Good Behavior now.
**spoilers** very satisfying to see isaiah and his crew getting f*cked so hard in the *ss! readers of "abandon" probably were as pleased as i was with that particular part of this story.. :-D
The third, and sadly the last, of the Letty Dobash trilogy. In 140 pages there are more thrills and surprises than one can count. One hopes to meet her and her fellow thieves again.
The most recent, and lengthiest, of Blake Crouch's Letty Dobesh series, Grab is an entertaining read that will call to mind the best work of Lawrence Block, John Locke, and the late Elmore Leonard. The resolution seems to indicate more books to come, and that's a good thing as the character grows more intriguing in each outing.
Absolutely awesome ride. Second time ive encountered this character and really love her....a great story and an awesome twist, cant wait to read some more! I really enjoy Blake's thrillers, but he sure can write a mighty fine crime story as well. loved every word.
Some of the plot sounded unrealistic (a casino is getting their vault repaired so they put all the money in a hotel room- really??), but overall it's really fun and well-written. The third in a series of short stories about a thief named Letty.
