If you follow my blog at all, then you know that I often say “normally romances aren’t my thing”. That’s usually the case, but what I’ve found is that with a Mandy Baggot book, all bets are off. Baggot’s writing style is hip and engaging, her dialogue snappy and humorous. I found myself sucked into Autumn’s plight from page one. Here’s the interesting part, and what makes this such a great read. I didn’t want to like either character…in the beginning.

Autumn Raine is superficial, self-involved, and seems completely unappreciative of her glamorous life. Nathan Regan, is also instantaneously detestable, patronizing Autumn from their first meeting. However, the shift to engendering reader empathy is seamless in this book, in trend in all Baggot works. Before long our perception alters so that we’re not reading about two, obnoxious, narcissistic individuals, but instead about two lonely, damaged people who need to feel something again.

Security is a compelling, well-written work that will sucker you in immediately and refuse to let go. Whether you feel secure or not, or just like the idea of feeling that way with a stunning Baggot leading man, this book is for you!

From my blog.

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

When I read the blurb, I was instantly intrigued. It's another one of my things, but I just love the thought of falling in love with the bodyguard. And I also love the movie The Bodyguard. Therefore, it was given that I really had to read it.

“Mother, where did you find this man? He thinks he’s playing Kevin Costner to my Whitney Houston,” Autumn laughed.

From the moment I started reading, the book grabbed me and didn't let me go even for a minute. I stayed up half a night reading until I was so tired that words just didn't make sense anymore and all letters started to look awfully similar. Then, I woke up the next morning and when I usually check my email first, this time I opened the book and continued reading. Simply said, it was just UNPUTDOWNABLE!

Juan. She actually ached for him right now. They talked about important things, like who they thought would be on the guest list of the next party they’d been invited to and what they’d be wearing.

Character development. There's definitely something to say about it. I could barely stand Autumn when I started the book, but the way she changed... No, it wasn't some kind of magical momentary change from a spoiled rich girl into a humble, but still rich, girl. Autumn turned into someone better because of the circumstances and THAT made it believable.

Art gallery openings didn’t matter, and bingeing on food and purging afterwards wasn’t normal. Grenades felt nothing like the new Blackberry, and you could wear an outfit more than once without it combusting. How shallow she was. How stuck-up and self-absorbed.

There's not much I can tell you without giving anything away. However, expect so many twists and turns that you'll end up feeling dizzy. Honestly, even though I predicted how this book would end (because they all end like that...), I still was gripping my chair and thinking, 'maybe I'm wrong, what if I'm wrong?'. That nearly killed me.

The ending was a bit too sudden for my tastes. I wanted just a little bit MORE. An epilogue, maybe? Even without it, Security was a brilliant and compelling story. I loved it so, so much it's hard to put it into words. You just need to read it yourself to understand.

Should you read it? Suspense. Feelings. Romance. Even pain. This book has it all. As I mentioned before, I couldn't stop reading it even for a moment longer than was absolutely necessary. I'd recommend it without a second thought.

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review. I rated it 4 out of 5 stars.

A pop music diva, a government agent turned body guard, and a terrorist group looking for leverage, are all part of Mandy Baggot’s romantic suspense, Security. Well developed characters, good dialogue and plenty of action, kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. After all, it’s not every day you get to see inside the life of a pop star – even if she’s just a part of fiction.

Autumn Raine appears to have it all; a successful career as a pop star, money and two nominations for music awards. She’s also got a demanding mother, a publicity hounding assistant and a boyfriend who wants her to help him promote his album. She hadn’t planned on getting death threats thanks to her mother’s job as a member of the British cabinet. Hiring another bodyguard wasn’t on Autumn’s to do list, at least until she meets Nathan Regan, the government agent assigned to take charge of her security.

A government agent brought in when things get dicey, Nathan Regan isn’t thrilled to be tasked with guarding a “Pop Diva”. Especially one who keeps telling him she doesn’t need his help. When Nathan realizes the threats are real, and are being issued by a terrorist organization he’s dealt with before, he’s determined to keep Autumn safe and bring down the terrorists while he’s doing it.

The scenes between Autumn and Nathan are fun, full of sexual and emotional tension, and also have plenty of action. When things get really rough, Autumn and Nathan will have to put their differences aside to make it out alive. They’ll also have to decide if their physical attraction is worth giving into. Ms. Bagott does a good job developing her characters and dealing with their emotional issues. I especially liked how much Autumn grows through what she and Nathan are forced to go through and how Nathan is forced to realize that loving someone is worth the risk.

Will Autumn and Nathan be kidnapped and survive, or will one, or both of them end up making the ultimate sacrifice? Read Security to find out. I enjoyed it and I think you will too.

Autumn Raine is an international singing sensation, who is at the height of her fame and career. Autumn’s first album had gone double platinum and she is up for two awards at a prestigious award ceremony. Although adored by her fans, it would appear that Autumn has it all, but deep down inside Autumn is unhappy even with so much success, when it comes down to it she does not have anyone close to her in her private life and she is lonely. She has no one to talk to and share things with.

When a serious kidnap threat is made against Autumn, an handsome and experienced ex-special forces agent, Nathan Regan is hired for Autumn’s security. Nathan whisks Autumn away from it all to a safe haven. Autumn and Nathan are two completely different people who are thrown together and soon the sparks begin to fly.

Haunted by demons from his past can Nathan provide the security that Autumn so desperately needs?

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of Security, Mandy Baggot’s brand new novel before its official launch in April. This as a fan of Mandy Baggot’s books was very exciting! It is a book that is well worth reading. A great storyline filled with drama, action and romance and just the right amount of comedy to make this a fascinating and entertaining read. The latest novel from Mandy Baggot is not to be missed.

This was my February read for Loveahappyending and as March is on the horizon I really had to power read this book! Luckily for me, it’s one of those, ‘just one more chapter…’ kinda books so it wasn’t a problem! Security is about singer, Autumn Raine who is highly self-obsessed and caught up with her day-to-day life of fame, fortune and purging after she eats. She is assigned a new bodyguard to accompany her to the upcoming IMA awards but there’s more to her new security and ex-solider, Nathan Regan, that she knows. She discovers that her mother, a high-ranking politician is receiving dangerous threats from a terrorist organisation of which they have branded Autumn as their target. Autumn is yet to experience some horrible things but on her journey finds love, finds new friends and most importantly, finds herself.

I could tell there was going to be a lot more to this book than what meets the eye from the first chapter and I knew that it was going to delve into deeper and darker territory than just a famous singer who can’t handle the fame. It was all a bit suspicious and mysterious and right from the word go you’re tangled up in this fast-paced story and just like the main character, Autumn, don’t know what way to turn. Classed as a ‘romantic suspense’ novel, this is far from your typical ‘boy meets girl’ story and takes you on a rollercoaster of highs, lows and unexpected plot twists. There was no faffing around at the beginning of this book, it went straight in head first and by chapter 3 I already felt that I had a good picture and understanding of the characters that had been introduced. In fact, I had such a good picture I already had my dream cast picked out! When Autumn was introduced at the beginning, she was the most annoying character in the world. She was a spoilt brat who didn’t eat but I love how you steadily see Autumn change throughout the whole book. From this spoilt, stuck-up and snobby little bitch into a warm and loving person. After everything she goes through in the book it really is heart-warming to see. She has her emotions played with throughout the entire thing and despite being the most annoying person at the beginning, I really did feel sorry for her and hoped she got the happy ending she deserved. Her growth in the book was completely down to Nathan, her bodyguard. They were such contrasting characters but balanced each other out and managed to bring the best out of each other in ways they didn’t think possible. It’s obvious the pair of them hate each other at first – there’s no doubt about it. There’s no ‘love at first sight’ nonsense, they genuinely want to punch each other in the face but you can feel and see the tension and attraction rising in them as we go along but you can also tell how much each of them don’t want to like the other person. It was an interesting relationship and I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t clear cut. In fact, none of the book was.

The character that really stood out for me was Tawanda, Nathan’s old friend and Autumn’s new friend and PA. She is such a motherly figure and exactly what Autumn needs at this stressful time in her life. Considering Autumn and her own mother don’t get along, Tawanda’s presence really fills a void and makes everything seem just that little bit better. The end of the book was anything but predictable. I kept assuming I knew what was going to happen but then it didn’t, was sure something wouldn’t happen and it did and I loved it because anything could have potentially happened. Mandy has a way with words which makes it seem like they’re controlling you. Her writing style is very current and readable and incredibly easy to get lost in. You become part of their world, part of their stories, you can sympathise with the characters as well as want to punch them in the face and you are continually shocked at the latest bomb that’s been dropped. She keeps you on the edge and doesn’t give anything away too quickly so too make sure to build and build the tension and frustration until the boiling point. Security was highly compelling, engaging and extremely addictive – it was hard to put down. It had me on a tight leash and wouldn’t let go until I’d finished.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an electronic ARC of this novel as part of the tour in exchange for my honest review. I was not obligated to write a good review nor have I been compensated in any way for writing this review.

An Overview of the Novel: Autumn Raine is an icon pop diva and is used to be a complete jerk in order to get attention. But then she starts getting the wrong kind of attention—attention from terrorists.

Her mother assigns her a bodyguard to keep her safe. Autumn is furious. Her relationship with her mother is strained and she hates the idea that because of her mother she's being pulled into this mess. She also finds her bodyguard Nathan infuriating. He's so bossy and doesn't tell her anything.

Nathan thinks Autumn is a spoiled brat and hates that he got pushed into taking this job. Autumn is beyond frustrating and is a complete jerk in his mind. He's resigned himself to absolutely taking this job.

But then things stop adding up. Who really is behind Autumn's kidnapping and what's the motive? Nathan's job is to keep her safe and he's determined to do it. But day by day, the facade of Autumn Raine starts coming down and Nathan starts becoming more attracted to her with each passing day.

But with pasts as dark as theirs do they have any chance for pursuing a relationship and even if they do will they live long enough to make it last.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Romantic suspense is my favorite genre, so to say I had high expectations for this one would be an understatement. I was preparing myself to be disappointed when I started reading this novel. Instead, I found myself becoming more and more intrigued by the story and the characters.

Autumn was a complete brat for two-thirds of the novel and frustrated me to no end and yet I knew there had to be something more to her. I wanted to like her. As I kept reading the novel, I found myself liking her more and more.

Then there was Nathan. Nathan was also a complete idiot and yet I really liked him from the very beginning. He was a complete jerk to Autumn which sounds awful, but honestly Autumn probably needed some honesty, maybe a little more tactfully but still. Nathan's character was intriguing and I loved slowly piecing his character together.

The writing was solid and thoroughly entertaining. While some aspects of the suspense/terrorists elements might have seemed a little bit forced/unrealistic, on the whole it was a beautifully crafted novel that I really loved.

The pacing of the novel was masterfully crafted and the conclusion was perfect. As far as romantic suspense goes, this was one of the more entertaining ones I've read recently.

So why 4.5 out of 5 stars? I really really liked this novel. The characters, the plot, the suspense, the romance, everything was just so masterfully crafted. It is not my favorite romantic suspense novel, but it was a really good read that I enjoyed reading.

In Summary: Mandy's novel Security offers the perfect mix of romance and suspense. Her writing is beautiful; her characters are masterfully crafted, and her plot was absolutely gripping. Fans of romantic suspense will eat this novel up.

Warnings/Side-notes: Adult novel. Some instances of strong language. Sexual references. None are too explicit, but they are not suitable for children.

The Wrap-up: One of my favorite romantic suspense novels of the year. This is the first novel I've read by Mandy, but it certainly won't be the last. Her writing is beautiful and I loved that her characters weren't ones I liked from the get-go. In fact, I kind of hated them when I first met them, but by the end I loved them both. That is the mark of a great writer in my book. I can't wait to see more of Baggot's writing. Definitely recommend this one.

WHOLLY COW! I loved loved loved this book so much. This story reminded me a little of The Bodyguard with Whitney and Kevin, but man the intenseness and intrigue had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I adored the writing style of Mandy Baggot and cannot wait to pick up another book by this awesome author. The growth of Autumn was fantastic, see her turn the corner and discover what she was meant to be.

Autumn Raine is a 26 year old singer that is extremely popular and extremely busy. After receiving a call from her Mother, Alison, Autumn has to meet her for drinks. This is the addition in Autumn’s schedule that changes the rest of her life forever.

Apparently Alison has been receiving death threats and threats that Autumn is going to be kidnapped. So Alison has hired extra personal security for Autumn and he is the roughest most unkempt man Autumn has ever laid her eyes on. Nathan Regan is the best of the best and available for this easy job (or so he thinks), but he never expected to find a charge so uncooperative as Autumn.

Autumn has had a life that she is used to, set in a particular routine and she has OCD. Always counting to 5, always sorting her food into portions and into 5s and a very nervous habit of opening and closing her purse when she’s stressed (always counting to 5). Now Nathan is in the picture and her schedule is non-existent. He has taken her away to hide from these threats and the kidnappers because they are very real.

Nathan isn’t sure if the threats are locally based within Autumn’s group or if it is the known terrorist group As-Wana. But he is determined to use all of his skills to keep Autumn safe until the threat is gone. Even if this means kidnapping her himself, hiding her away on a secluded island and making sure she has no contact with her world.

Autumn is beside herself, she is lost and out of control, something that she is not accustomed to and it feels horrible. But the more she gets to know Nathan, the more he lets her in, the more Autumn is determined to help find the threats and go back to her life once more. The feelings Autumn is starting to get for Nathan are becoming very real and very sharp.

Can Nathan keep Autumn from being kidnapped? Will they discover who the threats are really and stop them? Who is the betrayer? What about Autumn’s boyfriend, Juan? Will Autumn act on her feelings for Nathan?

This is one amazing book! I loved everything about it, all aspects were fantastic, the characters, poor Autumn with her insecurities about everything and poor Nathan, learn about his background and why he is a freelance bodyguard. This book has everything, action, intrigue, suspense, betrayal, loyalty, mystery, romance and heartache. The ending is superb and you I was left feeling extremely happy and satisfied, but I was crying with heartache beforehand. Highly recommend to all readers – AWESOME!

Autumn Raine is an international singing superstar, the ultimate media darling and diva. When Autumn's safety is threatened by death threats and kidnapping attempts, ex-special forces agent, Nathan Regan is hired as Autumn's personal bodyguard. With the threats mounting and her life unraveling, Nathan takes Autumn away to a safe haven. Autumn and Nathan are total opposites who are thrown together, each has their flaws and are haunted by past demons, but a mutual attraction and sizzling chemistry can't be denied as the sparks begin to fly. Is Nathan's experience enough to protect Autumn? Can they forge a bond that will help them survive? What will become of their mutual attraction?

Security is an intriguing romantic suspense story filled with enough drama, action and romance with a touch of humor that keeps the reader turning the pages. Author Mandy Baggot weaves an entertaining tale written in the third person narrative that follows the suspenseful adventures of Autumn Raine and Nathan Regan as they try to outwit the kidnapping plots as they fight to survive.

This fast paced story has enough suspense and intensity with unexpected twists and turns that keeps the reader engaged, while the sizzling chemistry and romance that develops between Autumn and Nathan will make your heart race. I loved that both Autumn and Nathan were realistic characters who had flaws and past demons that haunted them, I found them to be intriguing and really enjoyed the opposites attract scenario. I really enjoyed the multi-layered storyline, you can't help but become captivated and immersed in the intricacies of Autumn and Nathan's lives. Author Mandy Baggot provides the reader with an entertaining storyline that has it all: action, drama, intrigue, suspense, betrayal, comedy, heartbreak and romance ... what more could a reader ask for?!

With an interesting cast of characters who are realistic and flawed; witty dialogue and engaging interactions; and an intriguing storyline that keeps you on the edge until the surprising conclusion; Security is an exciting romantic suspense story that will leave you completely satisfied.

WOW! I read Taking Charge by Mandy Baggo - and I really enjoyed that one , but this one was off the charts!

I've always loved the movie "The Bodyguard" with Keven Costner and Whitney Huston - But if you didn't like that movie, You'll still like this book - it had some similarities as the movie - but trust me, the book is way more than the few similarities.

Autumn is a Rock Star - she's good at what she does, and she loves it. But as any Rockstar book you've read in the past - sometimes the fans, the fame, it gets a little overwhelming after awhile.

The book starts off with Autumn getting the rundown of her schedule by her BFF and PA Janey - But Autumn had to make one quick stop to visit with her mother before heading to the studio - if she put off this drink with her mother, it would turn into a dinner and take all night. Right now she could make it quick and as painless as possible.

Her mother had arranged for Autumn to have a private bodyguard. Why? She had her own security team that she used when she needed to. But her mother had insisted. And just as Autumn was going to tell her mother off, she saw him.

Nathan... Nathan is a good guy. He believes in Truth and Honor, and sometimes doing things his own way to make sure that it happens this way. But he gets the job done. He didn't want the job of babysitting some spoiled rich pop star, but he owed a favor, and was determined to do the job right...

Nathan takes Autum away from her world in order to keep her safe. There is more to this than Autumn knew about.

In order to draw things out, Nathan had Autumn throw a party and invite everyone she knew.

Autumn found out who her true friends were, especially when she was almost kidnapped and her producer was killed while she was being forced into a van!
Luckily Nathan and his team got there in time - but the damage was done.
and it was about time Autumn learned the truth .....

WOW! There is just so much MORE to this story! The Truth - it's a biggie - and just when you think something is going to happen, something else pops up. And at the end - holy COW! Be warned - that ending is just.. WOW! That's all I'm saying :)

Security by Mandy Baggot Pre-launch review! SECURITY! Take the best of 24, Taken, and The Bodyguard and you have Security. Roll Jack Bauer, Liam Neeson and Kevin Costner into one, and you have focussed, hard-edged, ex-special forces agent, Nathan Regan. I was just blown away by Security. When my Kindle threw a wobbly, I took my iPhone to bed, that’s how much I couldn’t put it down. The characters are real, multifaceted, damaged people you absolutely root for. Even in Autumn Raine - international singing sensation at the height of her career, spoilt, pandered to and ‘adored’, we soon glimpse a vulnerability which has us on her side.

A kidnap threat has Autumn whisked away from her life of haute cuisine, of which she consumes little, and luxury living at the grandest hotels to pizza in a place she wouldn’t be seen dead in – in the company of someone she would be seen dead with. Nathan Regan charged with Autumn’s security is, on the surface, rough, rude, ruthless and angry. He’s a professional, he has a job to do and he’s going to do it to the best of his ability. He’s no time for spoilt, little rich girls throwing tantrums. Though he’s haunted by ghosts from his past, Nathan’s training has helped him develop a tough emotional armour. Even when he glimpses the fragile, caring woman underneath the superstar persona, he’s not going to let it distract him. Is he? I can’t say anymore for fear of spoilers. However, I simply have to add that the supporting characters are every bit as enticing. Tawanda is just the perfect foil between the hero and heroine. Oh, and the love scenes... Wow! Enough said. You simply have to read it. Mandy Baggot is on a winner here. Security is fabulously written. You think you know what to expect, you get a whole lot more. This is a book that is hugely satisfying and highly recommended!

Autumn, a pop princess who is at the very top, suddenly finds herself not only pestered by paparazzi, but now also faces serious threats from the outside. Nathan, an ex-soldier, gets assigned to protecting Autumn. Has he taken on too much and are his demons from his past coming back to haunt him or will he rise to the challenge?

I normally don’t get to read books in one go (my toddler wants entertainment too), but luckily I read this book when I was at my parents house and could assign them to toddler watch duty :-).

I am a huge fan of Mandy’s book and couldn’t wait to get my teeth into this one! Mandy’s talent to draw the reader in from the first page onwards is amazing. I loved everything about this book and to be honest, I think this is probably my most favourite Mandy Baggot book so far. The combination of heart-racing action and incredibly tender romance really worked for me.

I loved the way Mandy described Autumn’s “world” – a spoilt little pop star who grows as the story develops and learns so much about herself and whom she can trust and confide in.

I don’t think I’ve read one single Mandy Baggot book which didn’t make me cry. Security is no exception to this. I love this – it shows so truly what Mandy’s books are all about – an incredible storyline with lots and lots of emotions!

For me, Mandy’s strength is definitely the creation of her male characters. Nathan is everything a girl can ever dream of (luckily I’ve got my own version of Nathan at home :-).

Security is a fast-past paced romantic suspense with many twists and turns along the way that will draw readers in and not let them go until the reach the end.

I've watched The Bodyguard before & when I got this book by Mandy Baggot, at first I thought this was just another one of those rip-offs. But when I started reading Security, I was clearly mistaken.

This book focused more with the safety & security of a famous celebrity because of her ties with the Foreign Secretary & As-Wana, a terrorist group under the Al-Qaeda. Autumn Raine, the famous celebrity/singer was regarded as a wild-child, OC, & spoiled brat. She seemed to have everything and had everyone wrapped around her finger. She had her bestfriend-turned personal assistant, Janey, and a rapper-wannabe boyfriend at her beck and call. And there were the fans, the paparazzi and the awards, all at the tip of her fingertips. But these people didn't know what Autumn really desired. Deep inside, she longed for a mother who would nurture and care for her ever since her father died when she was young.

When Foreign Secretary Alison Raine, hired a bodyguard for her daughter without her knowing, Autumn's chaotic yet organized status turned into a world full of danger, betrayal and seclusion from celebrity life. Especially now that there were groups of people wanting to kill her.

Security is a well-written book, bursting with drama, action, suspense and romance. An enjoyable read! I loved the twists and turns in the story, how Autumn was betrayed and almost killed by the people she trusted. How Nathan Regan, her bodyguard, had changed her life's perspective and opened her eyes to the real world. Mandy Baggot's writing is genuine and highly recommended. Hoping to read more of her stories in the next few days.

Review originally posted at Chick Library Cat Book Blog:

http://chicklibrarycat.blogspot.com/2...

Autumn is on the top of her career as a pop singer. She has everything. But when there is threat for her life, the bodyguard Nathan is hired to take care for her.

Things are never as they look like. From outside, Autumn's life is perfect. From inside, no one sees her pain, no one sees the tears behind her smile. She lost her father when she was a child, and she still suffers from the lose. She counts all the time, she vomits after every meal, with one word, she is in emotional pain, she suffers.

Nathan is no better than her. Behind the mask of steel there is pain in his eyes. He acts very professionally, but there is something about her that doesn't give him peace.

Can these two people help each other?

At the beggining, I thought that this was another Bodyguard story. But Autumn is not like Whitney Houston, and Nathan is not Kevin Costner. Autumn and Nathan's story totally melted my heart. I was biting my nails to the very last page of this remarkable story. I must confess, it made me cry. Not many stories can make me cry.

I'm not very fond of classical romantic stories. But, this one kept my attention to the very last page. Why, because it has everything. It has action, nail-biting moments, passion and love. And it it full of emotions. So, if you are looking for a love story spiced with international terorism, than this is a story for you. I totally loved it.

Autumn Raine is a complex character. Beneath that pop star exterior lies an insecure young lady with little confidence and an over powering mother. Her father died and her mother works for the foreign office as a top official.

Regan is not the usual bodyguard type. He doesn't look the part and Autumn doesn't seem to have the confidence in him when they first meet.

Thrown together in an adventure that sees Regan trying to protect Autumn from kidnappers, these two characters get to know each other a lot more than expected.

There are secrets and twists along the way that make Regan trust no-one, but can Autumn trust Regan? Can Autumn trust her mother?

I like the fact that the characters, although not just ordinary folks, were down to earth with their thoughts and fears.

Tawanda was a larger than life character and seemed to be the most grounded of all the characters, if a little old for her years. She was a great supporting character.

Mandy Baggot has written an action packed movie style story that kept me guessing. It reminded me of The Bodyguard in some ways.

4 out of 5 for me!

I will give this author credit, she can develop characters well and make you feel very attached to them. I didn't care much for Autumn when the story began. She was self centered, self absorbed, demanding and showed very little concern for those around her. As the story progressed however, we saw a change in the main character. She began to care for others and realized what a diva she had become and she really didn't care for the image she had created for herself. My favorite character had to be Tawanda, the practical cook and body guard assistant who provided balance for both Autumn and her body guard, Nathan.

People and characters do strange things when placed in situations where they feel there is no way out. Autumn found herself in the middle of a terrorist abduction, a willing participant fearing for her own life and for Nathan's. Quite a plot line that provided suspense and sharply inhaled breaths as I read.

I enjoyed the read. It was certainly filled with liars and people Autumn found to be undependable and not looking out for her. The storyline was a tad unbelievable, but the love story between the diva and the bodyguard, certainly redeemed the unbelievable bits and made it easy to accept and love the story as a whole.

With a slight shift in sub-genre from romance to romantic suspense, Mandy Baggot’s books get stronger and stronger. This is probably my favourite one to date.

We meet Autumn Raine, singing superstar and she is not instantly likeable, coming across as spoilt and self-obsessed. However, gradually the walls come down and you get to know the real woman underneath who is both vulnerable and determined at the same time. Underneath the celebrity exterior, there is a genuine likeable person. She’s had a lot of emotional obstacles to overcome and has not always had the best advice. Now she’s up against the biggest challenge yet with her life in danger.

Cue mean and moody, northern bodyguard, Nathan Regan. He doesn’t change his attitude or his mind for anyone, that is until he comes up against Autumn Raine . As if outwitting kidnap plots and extremists isn’t enough for one guy, he also has demons of his own to battle at the same time.

With unexpected twists in the plot, Security, has suspense and tension all the way through, together with some great chemistry and tough romance, this really is my sort of book.

I had actually started reading this one last week, however I got side tracked by a few others that were released afterwards. I am so glad I read this one. It had danger, tension, chemistry, secrets and a handsome bodyguard. This is not the typical contemporary romance, it's what I would call a thriller/romance, if that exists. More danger and plot development with a touch of romance. I enjoyed all of the characters, I enjoyed the intrigue, the banter among Claire and Nathan. The plot is clever and intriguing. The writing was quite good. There is a twist, then another twist. This one will keep you guessing right up to 98%. I was so happy with the ending, my only issue with this one....no freaking epilogue. I wanted an epilogue here. I have never read anything by this author before, Security was my first, but I will look for more by her in the future. This was a fun, thrilling, read. Enjoy

A story that will melt your heart!

With names like Autumn Raine and Nathan Regan you expect something special and author Mandy Baggot has your senses tingling!

You feel Autumn’s pain for what she’s been through and you find yourself wanting to protect a character who feels very, very real. Then there is Nathan Regan. Sizzle. He’s tough, determined and takes the business of personal protection very seriously indeed. He’s the definition of a true professional, putting himself at risk without a moment’s hesitation. If you were in a jam he’s the person you would want on your side.

There are plot twists that will keep you turning the pages and, in places, holding your breath. I just loved the character named Tawanda. While she, too, was a surprise in several ways, she brought a little something extra to the emotional mix. You could feel the angst flying off the pages and there is drama, love, intrigue and adventure a-plenty. And an ending you are guaranteed not to forget!

3.5 Stars

Man are the characters incredibly irritating in the beginning! Autumn is definition of entitled rich pop star and is incredibly judgemental about people based solely on their clothing. Nathan is just an enigma. He is just so angry and tough and closed off that I did not really know where he stood. As the story develops we begin to understand more of their pasts and motivations. As we get to see more of their real personalities, I began to love them.

The action is incredibly interesting and keeps getting better, as they begin uncovering more and more information about the terrorist plot against Autumn. There were so many plot twists and complete shockers from left-wing that captivated my attention and I just could not stop reading. Loved this book! Definitely recommend this!

Oh and the ending is insane! I just could not believe it! You should read this book.

I took this book on holiday in great anticipation because I’d read the blurb, already seen some of the fabulous blogger reviews, and I knew I was in for a treat. I was not disappointed. This book has everything that I personally love to find in a romance novel – a heroine who grows on you, a hero to fall madly in love with, an action packed passion fuelled storyline than grabs you and takes you along for the read – oh and know I’ve really enjoyed myself when I shed a few tears along the way. (I had to pretend I had suncream in my eyes at one point). There is romance, adventure, suspense, and ups and downs that have your heart racing and pulse pounding. I loved it and highly recommend ‘Security’. Mandy Baggot is now one of my very favourite authors!

This wasn't what I expected, I think I'd got Bodyguard in my mind, but I loved it. The twists and turns kept me going, the political intrigue, and yes I bawled my eyes out like a baby, I wasn't expecting any of that! I did guess some bits right though ;-)

Autumn starts off as a spoiled brat, but as you get to know her you see that it's just a veneer, deep down she's an extremely vulnerable and lonely girl. At the start Nathan isn't very endearing either. Both characters are very well written, and totally draw you into the story, the side characters evoke strong emotions as well.

This was an entertaining read, but then, with this author I knew it would be.

Pop star Autumn receives threats on her life and her mother hires a bodyguard, Nathan, to keep her safe. The first thought you have is Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, right? Even the author has an exasperated Autumn referring to the movie to her mother.
However, this is way more. More to the damaged Autumn, more to the bodyguard, Nathan, more to the threats, then what you first read. And after the author leads us through the story, successfully leading us through all emotions to the ending, our second thought is that we want more!

It's a successful execution of a well paced storyline and plot. I will read more of Mandy's books.

This book took me i was about 20% into it to get good for me. Will say that at 17% i was ready to just give up on it, but i am a staunch reader and just cant make myself give up on books. I am extremely glad i kept reading this book. One you get past the pretentious pop star act with ocd, this story takes off. I find that the characters are actually heart-felt and well developed. Each of them has their own issues and that makes them "real" characters for me. Add, in the deceit, kidnapping, terror and an over the top bitch of a mother and this is a story right up my alley. Look forward to reading more by this author.

3.5..
Security was a nice fast paced book.
I liked both Autumn and Nathan.
Though, in the beginning...the characters can be a bit more than annoying...all with the OCD and the anger management issues...
But eventually they grow on you and you start to like them for who they are.
The plot wasn't all that mysterious or thriller but it was good and kept you engrossed.
The characters though needed a lot more of romance.
I mean, there was romance but the author could have done so much more with it.
Which is why I think an epilogue would've been great.
It would've done wonders because I seriously felt that the author finished this book in quite a hurry.

I really enjoyed this book!

after reading so much paranormal romance, which can be quite heavy and very very steamy, this was a refreshing change!

the characters are all very well rounded, and highly believable. I mean, an opinionated spoilt pop star?? very believable. the plot is nothing too complicated, but just enough to keep you going, and wanting to know what's actually going on.
some spice, and violence, but nothing too graphic or explicit.
I highly recommend this book, and will be on the look out for others by this author.

Loved this.....read it in a few hours and couldn't put it down. Autumn is a pop star whose life has been threatened by kidnapping. Regan is the bodyguard who is trying to keep her safe. He is not the usual bodyguard type and Autumn doesn't seem to have the confidence in him when they first meet. However, thrown together in an adventure that sees Regan trying to protect Autumn from kidnappers, these two characters get to know each other a lot more than expected. An excellent storyline with lots of twists and turns all the way through.

Mandy pens "Security" in an original plot filled with suspense, action, and romance with a touch of humor thrown in. I found her characters to be well developed, believable with good chemistry as she describes them with her beautiful writing. One of the better romantic suspense novels I've read this year and highly recommended to all adult readers who love a nice romance.
