NOTE: This is part 1 of a series that is designed to be read in order. There are many layers to this story, and most books will have a clear beginning, middle and end, that wrap up nice and neatly. Book 1 and 2 are the exception as they set up the series. Part 1 has a naturally evolving cliff-hanger style ending, with a satisfying resolution to some questions raised. (As in – the book doesn't just stop in the middle of a chapter as some series do, putting your reading device at risk when you feel tempted to throw it across the room).
Because of the ending, I plan to get book 2 out as soon as is humanly possible so that the wait is not too long. It is in the final stages of editing and will be released late June or July.
Each part will be approximately 48 000 words. This is equivalent to around 150 kindle pages, or around 180 pages in a traditional style paperback.

This book was very frustrating for me to read. I almost put it down several times, but kept saying no I can finish this (it is really rare for me not to finish a book). I was hoping it would get better, and while it did it still wasn't that great.
My first issue was I felt for at least half the book you were beaten over the head with how the main character cannot tell the future and didn't know what was happening at the time. Things such as "I didn't know at the time what would happen" "I didn't know who they were at the time" "I didn't know what was going to happen at the time" "I didn't know then what was going on, I do now" and things like that. I was just like I GET IT! She is cannot tell the future, just like all of us unless this is a book about people telling the future no one knows what will happen. You can guess, or have hopes for what you want to happen, but you don't know so you don't have to keep reminding me over and over and over again that the main character didn't know at the time what was going on. I know. That is why she is hassling her dad for answers. Because she doesn't know what is going on. I get it. You don't have to keep reminding me. It really annoyed me.
The other thing is I saw a lot of similarities to Twilight, but not in a good way. The lunchroom scene the first day when Ellie is all who are they? And one of the friends says they are from the twilight zone and I just thought no, this is very much Twilight. The group of odd, but beautiful people sitting at their own table and they never pay attention to anyone else, until suddenly new girl is there and then the one dreamy guy notices and of course they fall in love even though Edward I mean Jonathon is all you should stay away from me! Then you have the silverlighter who doesn't have a name and no clue what he actually is or what he can do or whatever, but he is all wolf like with silver moon eyes so he was Jacob to me. It seemed fitting. Now it is not exactly the same as Twilight by a long shot, it is just a lot of the scenes reminded me a lot of it. I don't know. I was talking to my husband about it and he was just like yeah but like the lunchroom scene is a common thing, which sure I have read many lunchroom scenes. But it is not common to have it be like the same way in both books. I read a lot of book. At least one a day. And I haven't found the same scenes in other books. I don't know. Maybe it is just me.
Other than that...well you don't really find out what is going on at all. Ellie thought she figured it out and was all At the end I still didn't really know what was going on, and what a silverlighter is. You meet a silverlighter, but it is not explained what it is. I guess more questions are answered in the next book, but I am not going to be reading it.

I was immediately hooked by just reading the synopsis. I loved how it was written by the character and not the author. Telling us her story and/or warning us before it’s too late.
The story starts with so much crazy action I couldn’t put the book down!! The entire book is action packed and my emotions were going in so many directions! This book is part one of the story so there is a horribly awesome cliff hanger at the end!!! I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to know what happens next!!!!

Overall I absolutely loved the book and will continue to read the series. As a reader I love the concept, I love the mystery of whom and what everyone is and what they can do. I thoroughly enjoyed it and don’t think I’ve read anything like it in the past and I love that! It was an enjoyable book to read, twice! There is a combination of paranormal, romance, mystery all wrapped up in this book and even though you don’t know what each character is capable of yet, Ellem May has a Part 2 of this book coming out soon that will help give us some answers and not leaving us clueless for long.

Ellie is a girl with many secrets…the problem? She doesn’t know half of them. Ellie knows her dad made her change her name and that her dad knows things he isn’t sharing with her. She knows they are on the run, because someone is trying to kill them. Ellie has had a hole in her heart since the death of her mother. But she also realizes she has emptiness in her heart when the boy she is in love with but has no memory of comes into her life to save her life while a friend loses his. The boy momentarily gives her all of her memories back and with those memories comes all the love she knows she has for this boy who we also find out is a Silverlighter, but then he takes them back. What’s he hiding?
With the memories gone, all Ellie knows is there is a hole left in her heart. She is drawn toward another boy, Jonathan. She thinks Jonathan fills some of the emptiness she has in her heart and loves being near him, she just doesn’t know why. He is another person that has many secrets that he isn’t sharing with Ellie. She thinks he is from the future, but that isn’t confirmed yet in part 1 of this book.

When first I began reading this book, I had no idea that it would be so good,this book is really,a treat.
I love LOVE THIS BOOK and it has already become one of my favorite series.
The mix of the paranormal,urban fantasy, ya genres was wonderful and I was not bored in even one page of this book.I will continue this series,and fangirl all the way too :D

Jennifer lives with her dad in an apartment,when one day,something unusual happens.There is a fire in her apartment and two strangers come out of it-one of them shockingly familiar, When she goes up in her apartment, she finds her tough,macho dad looking scared-which he has rarely been in his life.More shockingly, there is a newspaper article in which her dad and herself is listed dead in the apartment fire with the date of tomorrow.

I received Silverlighters from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I feel like this book left me with more questions than answers. I was warned it didn't end, so not surprised, but the whole book left so much unanswered. What is a Silverlighter? What about Ellie? Who are Jonathon and his gang?
Ellie's mom was killed when she was young, and her and her father have been hiding ever since, moving around and sometimes changing names. Now she is in a new town and school, and not everyone is what they seem. The school has a little "clique" of students that stand out, and sometimes seem zombie-like. They Also seem a little Twilight-ish. But as far as I know they are not vampires:) It was never revealed what they really are, just Ellie's opinion on the matter. And then there is the mysterious boy/guy with silver eyes that has been saving her since she was a small child. But he erases her memories of him for some mysterious reason. It all eludes to a vague love triangle that is frustrating. Silver eyes has my vote. I always go for the elusive:)
Even with all the mystery of what the heck is going on and the avoidance of answering anything, I will definitely be reading the sequel. I NEED to know!! I recommend to those that love books that leave you hanging...maybe wait for the sequel.

Every once in a while a book comes along that leaves you with more questions than answers. Silverlighters was one of them. I LOVE it when a book leaves me wondering about it and even though I read it weeks ago, I still think about it. I wonder what is happening to the characters right now and it's driving me nuts that I don't know. I've read it twice, it was that good to me.
Silverlighters starts off exciting but confusing, but not in a bad way. It was confusing in that I have to keep reading to find out what on earth is going on kind of way. Jen and her dad escape a fire and go on the run. From what? I don't have a clue. But they run and finally stop in a small town where her dad enrolls her in a new school where he changes her name to protect her.
Something weird is going on at the new school with a group of students that transferred in before Ellie (Jen's new name). This group of students behave strange (possible hypnosis? drugs? members of The Apathetic Society of America?) When the group starts taking an interest in Ellie, things get even weirder. She starts seeing things that aren't possible. Are they the force behind what Ellie and her father were running from? Or can they help them not have to run anymore? I don't know that either.
When Ellie gets involved with one of the group members, she learns things that I cannot repeat for fear that it might endanger myself since I still have no clue what's really going on. All I can tell you is that this will be the best dollar you can spend right now. That drink from McDonalds might last you for an hour but Silverlighters will give you multiple hours of good reading material and days worth of wondering.
I'm rating this 5 stars for the following reasons: Starting out at an average of three stars (for any book), a star gets added for the amazing editing (I didn't notice a single error while reading), 1 star to the wonderful storytelling prowess of the author, Ellem May (for keeping my attention in the world of always being connected to something), and a last star for the characters feeling so real. In case you didn't notice, that actually equals more than 5 stars but GR wouldn't let me rate any higher.
Grab Silverlighters today, it's worth it.

First, I would like to say I revised my review. The first time I read this book I got impatient, didn't finish the book, then wrote a review. I don't believe that was fair to the author or potential readers. So I went back and finished the book. With that being said here is my review.
The book starts out with Jen and her father having to go on the run. They make it to a new town and change their appearance along with their names. So, Jen who is now Ellie starts a new school and makes a few friends. She notices some strange kids in the school who don't appear quite normal or human. She names them "them". We also have a boy with silver eyes who is kind of Ellie's protector. I believe the silver eyed boy is the silverlighter. We don't learn much about him yet. Ellie becomes close with on of the "them" Jonothan and we find out very little, but we do know what he is and kind of where he comes from. We don't know why he is there or what he wants yet.
I really liked the authors writing style and really liked the story, and felt better about the story after I actually finished it :). I really liked the characters especially Ellie. I find this book hard to rate and I'm really stuck between 3 or 4 stars. The answers I believe we are seeking as readers a revealed slowly. While that is not a bad thing, I just felt I had what to many questions than answers. I will pick up the second book in the series so I can find out some answers and while this book is not on my top 10 list I say you should give this book a chance because first, the first book in a series is always the slowest because you have to be introduced to all the new characters and learn the back story. Second, everyone is different, and last I think after we get some answers this is going to be an amazing story.
In the end I rated this 3.5 stars. And hope people don't make the same mistake I did and read this all the way to the end.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review and I really liked it.There was a lot of mystery and suspense and it left me with a lot of unanswered questions due to which I did get a little frustrated at times.Even by the end of the book nothing was clear.I felt that the author should have answered atleast some of the questions .The story was good.There were some similarities to Twilight but it was different enough that it didn't seem like a copy of it.Overall it was worth reading and I am looking forward to reading the next book:)Silverlighters #1L.M. May

It started out so good then fell so flat I didnt think I would ever finish it . Why does everything have to have a girl liking two guys and it gets so confusing. Curse you twilight, it seems like all the books take that format and its driving me crazy. You have a great guy who is always looking out for you you love him but you get turned on by a complete stranger and his wierd friends. Your on the run and you decide to pick the creepiest kids who you know mean you no good , you watched them synchronize , and people died . This is insane.
