I’m not a fan of present tense narratives under most circumstances. The awkwardness of the prose always seems to distract, and yet there are authors who use it with skill and grace. Suzanne Collins who wrote Hunger Games did it well, using the present tense narrative form to keep the readers in the dark about how the plot ends. In the erotic world, author Felicity Brandon does it with style, though more from a personal preference than out of the necessity of plot. Even more incredibly, Felicity Brandon writes from a first person perspective, forcing action, dialog, and even description through the lens of a narrator, and not just an author’s pen. And she does it well.

Her latest short story, “Customer Service” is pure gold, balancing action, dialog, and description in a sexually tense and fascinating way. In it, Felicity Brandon introduces us to Polly, a beleaguered waitress dealing with the dreaded customer “Rachel” who wraps her arrogance and bad attitude around herself like a cloak. Polly discovers a note with Rachel’s phone number on it and a personal message. Intrigued, Polly calls and finds herself willingly submitting to the dominatrix, whose attitude doesn’t change, even in the privacy of her own home. The sex is steamy, the descriptions poignant, and the tension builds.

The only critical complaint I can give – is that I wished the story kept going. Rachel is an amazing character with vibrant colors and an unforgiving attitude that makes me like her, despite her aggressive and haughty behavior. I almost wish she had offered Polly a job as house maid. It would have been totally appropriate and I would have loved to read Polly’s reaction to the humiliating uniform and demanding antics of Rachel.

“Customer Service” is a short, fast read, filled with eroticism and romance that anyone, man or woman, would enjoy. I heartily recommend this tale and give it a full ten out of ten rating. It's currently priced at 99 cents and I think, despite being a ten minute read, might actually be worth it.

My first full on F/f read, and it was HOT!

Felicity Brandon really made this hot little short story come to life! It's hard to say too much without giving too much of the story away, so i'll just say if You enjoy F/f and have about 30 minutes over lunch, this is the book for you!

Rachel and Polly make quite an "unexpected" pair! Highly recommend this quick little read!

A 100% straight girl would get enough out of this to justify buying it!,

I am the straight girl but it even managed to turn me on in parts. Hugely recommended, so well written and not formal so it isn't holding back on any detail.

First thing I'd like to say is that the cover is a bit plain, but most of Felicity's covers concentrate on the model in the picture, and since this is her first book, I think this one set the pace for that. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, just a bit plain. It does convey that it's erotica pretty well though, and I like that she didn't cut the head off the model like so many other erotica covers do.

Second thing I'd like to mention is that it's in the present and not past tense. It still reads pretty smooth, but that particular style choice I do not care for. I don't take marks off for it because it's a valid style choice, but were I not purchasing this book (and yes, I purchased it, none of her stuff is in KU) for the purposes of a review but rather for my own reading pleasure, I would have skipped it.

Alright! So now to the review! Polly, the main character of the story is a waitress having a really busy and bad night. Rachel is one of her customers, whom she doesn't serve exactly awesome. Rachel leaves Polly a note saying she has a great ass and to call her sometime, with a number.

This is where I took some points off... I work in customer service in my real life, and I have to say... Rachel didn't leave a tip! What the hell! Having been a waitress, even if the super hottest guy in the universe left me a note and no tip after being a bastard all night while I was having a bad day... I'd throw the note directly in the trash and probably cuss him out all night. It'd also turn into one of my weird customer service stories. "Yeah, I served this guy and he left me a fucking note hitting on me instead of a tip! Like I was gonna go suck his dick after that, I don't give a fuck HOW hot he was!"

Fortunately, that annoyance is addressed as Polly takes a bath and chills out later, then thinks how intriguing it was. She'd never been hit on by a woman before, and thus... the story really takes off when she calls Rachel. Sexy hijinks ensue.

I don't want to give up too much more for the actual acts...but it is a BDSM femdom story, which are close to my heart. Granted, it's a lesbian story, but the femdom in it is pretty hot. Felicity is a good writer too. The manuscript is really polished, smooth, and even though it's in a style I don't care for, very easy to read and forget about the 'fuck this note shit!' in the beginning. The sex is hot, but I do have one more quibble, which I think just goes to show this is her first story... and if this is the beginning and she only got better from here? DAMN. Color me envious.

Anyway, the one last quibble... at one point, Polly narrates that she's being spanked and her mistress is avoiding her pussy. The very next sentence Polly tells us her mistress hits her pussy now and again... which is a direct contradiction to the previous sentence. That's it. I mean, that's all that I could find technically wrong with the prose... that's it. That's really fucking impressive. When I say it's polished, I mean it's really polished.

I would give this 8 of 10 spankings. Not my cup of tea since I am mostly straight, but incredibly well written, and it has a very hot mistress in it.

The title of this book is Customer Service, but from my perspective, Ms. Brandon could have called it Satisfaction Guaranteed. This is my first ever FF book and all I can say is ‘whew’, hot-hot. The story has a decidedly D/s flavor to it as the dominatrix Rachel, teaches Polly how to deliver lip smacking customer service.

I must admit, the sassy D/s aspect of the story was a really big turn-on for me.
Yes, the story is a real shortie, only 17 pages, but it delivers quite a wallop. The pace is fast, the sex scene is smoking and the whole book had me thinking self-service and hand-to-hand combat. If you’re looking for a quick read to spice up your evening, this books delivers excellent customer service.

It was a great pleasure to read to read Felicity Brandon’s story “Customer Service”. It is a pacey, well written story, of Polly, a waitress, who is given a hard time by Rachel a gorgeous blonde. This is a very sexy story, with toe tinglingly graphic descriptions. There is strong dominant and submissive theme through this story and if you are a fan of this genre you will love this story. There is a highly erotic scene on a rug by the fireside that is pure magic. I would highly recommend this story I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more from this exciting author.

Consuming

This was a very good short read. I do wish that it had more to it. Maybe some after chapters. Or else this book consumed me until I finished it.

This is the first work by this author I have read, and I'd definitely read more.

Its short. I liked how Rachel left a note, and I liked her attitude. I liked the encounter itself also. I would have liked for Polly to be better as a waitress, or at least for more time to have been spent on it, but she did better later as a sub, anyway.

I like F/f as a whole, and I was not disappointed by this one.

Quick, easy read. Started & finished during the commute to the office. Too short to tie things together well but if you don't over think it, the story works.
