I've read several books in this genre. And come to a couple of conclusions. First, many authors who write about dominant men, men who treat women in a sexual way that society still finds somewhat offensive, try and overcompensate for the male behavior that might be labeled "bad" by making the man a cross between Lancelot, St. Francis, Jeeves the Butler, and a college English professor. They may dominate in the bedroom but everything else about them screams chivalrous, well mannered, saintly, unerringly patient and always grammatically correct. If it weren't for the whips and chains, they would be perfect gentlemen. Other authors in this genre have decided that if the guy isn't going to be a saint inside the bedroom, then he has to be the best looking, wealthiest, most successful and most egotistical man in the world, who never questions his decisions, his lifestyle or his choices - until he meets the one - and then we get to see just a hint of insecurity.

This author opted for the first version of the dominate man in this book. I was pretty sure he rescued kittens from trees and old ladies from burning buildings when he wasn't busy building homeless shelters, ending famine, stopping global warming and beating his girlfriend. Oh, and he used perfect grammar as well.

Most guys are guys, regardless of their sexual preferences. Those preferences don't automatically make them courtly or saintly or insanely wealthy or successful. But authors in this genre feel a real need to compensate. Which makes me wonder if they really are OK with the lifestyles they write about. Especially when most heroes in these books come across as if they do what they do to "help" their partner, who obviously had some problem in her past that made her this way, not because they just like doing it. And that might be the real problem. Relationship stories are about people, not heroes. So stop trying to give them heroic traits.

A romance novel is a romance novel - it is about 2 (or more) people discovering each other, falling in love and either ultimately staying in love, at least until the book ends, or falling out of love. What we learn about those people - their interests, their careers, their sexual preferences, their family, their history, all help us get to know them better. What we learn about them may be the focal point of the novel - in this case, their sexual persuasions. But if the characters aren't real, if they are too bad or too good to be true, if the reader cannot imagine that people just like them exist in the real world, if the only other fictional characters they can be compared to are Prince Charming and Cinderella, then the book isn't a romance written for adults, it's a fairy tale. If that is the case, then the sex should probably go.

The author did a pretty good job creating female characters that seemed believable, but the primary male character was nothing but a cardboard cut out of a man. A very boring cardboard cut out at that.

I have been lucky enough to have been given a copy of this 1st book of Partners in Play series.
As one who lives this lifestyle, it is wonderful to find an author who does their research and writes about it in the correct and way. I love that Tara Sue Me writes how real life gets in the way. This is definitely a series you will want to read. I have also been lucky enough to read book 2 of this series.

Eh. BDSM can be really that much when it’s, well, too much. Skimmed most of the sex part (which, by the way, is unusual for me) coz’ spanking isn’t really my thing. Add bullwhipping and I’m done.

Guess I can finally say BDSM is a closed book for me. I’ll still read the next book(s) in this series just to compensate my OC for finishing series I follow.

Seduce by Fire was a pleasurable light BDSM read.

Julie is vanilla, but always felt like something was lacking in her sex life. Julie owns a flower shop and one day Daniel comes into Julie’s flower shop and order flowers. They exchange some flirtatious banter, which leads to a date and some vanilla sex. Daniel is a Dominate and is okay with vanilla sex, but he craves more. He’s willing to work with Julie in her becoming his submissive and Julie is apprehensive, but interested.

I enjoyed Tara Sue Me’s The Submissive. I thought it was kinky, steamy and the plot very entertaining. I was very happy about her new series Seduced by Fire. Overall I did enjoy the book, but there were some things I felt were lacking.

The things I enjoyed

Tara Sue Me can write a book and just capture me within the first chapter. I love that. I love her easy writing, her no-fuss manner. Her books are a breeze and refreshing.

I enjoyed Julie and Daniel. Julie at times did frustrate me, but I do love how “easy” the relationship was.

I liked reading about the side characters. I usually am not interested in the best friend, but it was a nice peek to future books as I am sure they will have their own story.

The things that didn’t work for me

I’ve read a lot of BDSM books and I’ve read at all levels, from your light mild kink to your, OMG, did that really happened, so I understand Seduced by Fire would have a low kink factor. However, there was not really any BDSM play. I wouldn’t even call it that, sure, Daniel has a play room, sure he spanks Julie, but that’s it?

I wanted to see not only some bondage, but maybe some intense spanking, kinky scenes. Could we have some public sex or semi-public sex? Could Daniel be a little more Dominate, like telling Julie not to wear panties all day?

I wanted Julie and Daniel to really progress in the relationship, but I felt like there were a few mild scenes and that was it. I wanted it to be months of dating and Julie really being pushed.

Julie frustrated me a lot. She acted like a scared baby when it wasn’t really warranted for. So what he ties you up, so what you are spanked, it’s not like he’s using a huge dildo in your butt. I wanted her to be a little more open minded and not have her apprehension be the “tension” of the book.

Some of the dialogue was dry and not romantic. Sometimes when Daniel and Julie discuss their relationship it sounded more like a business transaction. I get you want to have your desires out in the open and say what your hard limits are, but sometimes, the element of surprise is nice. Also, the whole BDSM club meeting is okay, but I didn’t get the trials if someone does something bad. It seems like you can only do BDSM things if you are in the club. I just didn’t get it.

I felt like there was a lot of potential for this novel and most of all I enjoy the way Tara Sue Me writes. I am looking forward to book 2 because I feel like Dana’s story is going to be really gritty. I really hope Tara ups the kink and intensity. I want to be blown away.

Julie is working at the flower shop when she first lays eyes on Daniel, who comes to buy his grandmother some flowers. It is here that it becomes apparent that Daniel doesn’t need to buy flowers to get into anyone’s panties, women just drop them for him. My mind took a walk with me here, picturing all kinds of funny situations.



While fooling around a bit, suddenly her friend and co-worker Sasha ,who sees the interest in Julie’s eyes, mentions that Julie isn’t compatible with him. Hurtful but maybe true thinks Julie, so she takes it in quietly. Not like she’ll see him again anyway. You thought wrong Julie. Next day at the bank she meets him again, only this time he doesn’t ask her for flowers, no he asks her to be his date for the very benefit she is arranging the flowers for. And of course she agrees to it!

Daniel, a well-known Dom, assumes Julie wasn’t in the lifestyle. He thinks her to be a vanilla woman but he still goes for her, who know’s she might change her mind in time. Or maybe he will, he has this overwhelming need to protect, tease and tempt when he’s around her. Okay forget about him being the one changing, Daniel wants her submitting to him, to his needs.

  “Stay with me, Julie.” His arms came around her and his breath was hot against her ear. He nibbled her earlobe. “Let me show you the pleasures of my world.”

Daniel assumes wrong though, Julie isn’t totally oblivious to the lifestyle. Sasha is a sub and Julie acts as her safety call, which provides her with some insight into the lifestyle. And the stories Sasha shares with her makes her curious and excited not scared. So even Sasha’s scare tactics and revelation of Daniel’s Dom side doesn’t deter her….. But when a scene goes wrong does scare her, it rattles Julie and the fragile foundation she has with Daniel.

  “The nurse worked quickly and silently. The entire time, Julie was acutely aware of Daniel’s presence beside her—his power, his strength, his being. And for the first time, that power and strength scared her.”

Will she be able to overcome her recently acquired fear or will their relationship strand there?

This is a sexy read, but nothing over the top actually. I like how it isn’t all about the sex but more about exploring and giving in to one’s curiosity. It is also about learning how to keep going on and not hiding your true self, even when you’re scared out of your mind.

Daniel and Julie’s relationship is an interesting one that is well built up, the story is well constructed as well. But maybe a bit predictable at times, I’m talking about how the two met and instantly had a thing for one another. But overall is it a pretty good book and it has piqued my interest for the forthcoming books in this series.

This book started out on the usual BDSM path that I have come to not be a fan of and I was about to throw in the towel, but then, I didn't. I'm so glad that I finished this to completion, because I really would've missed out on a fantastic story.

GR members are no strangers to BDSM, or the "millionaire tycoon meets nice girl who he falls deeply in love with instantly so much that he has to spank her" books. This book, however, really touched on the emotional side of what true submission and Dominance really means and how it can really be a beautiful thing; if you're into that sort of thing.

The author did a brilliant job of bringing the emotions of her two main characters to life. The Dominance of Daniel of oozed off the first few pages, and the eagerness and vulnerability of Julie was easy to identify with right away.

There are some HOT HOT HOT moments in this story, as well as some touching moments as well. And, this was a first for me, the author touched on how a BDSM "play" scene could go horribly wrong; seriously couldn't put the book down after that.

The author introduces a cast of characters that I for one am eager to read more about and she did an excellent job of setting up for what's hopefully the next novel in this series.

I was excited to read Tara Sue Me’s new book Seduced By Fire, and was so happy when I received an ARC for review. I can’t lie and say that a lot of it didn’t feel familiar to me in the beginning. Young, somewhat innocent young woman meets a wealthy man with a sexual secret, aka: he’s a Dominant in the local BDSM scene. And she’s harbored secret submissive feelings for quite a while. This was definitely reminiscent of The Submissive, which I read when it was Twific.

Julie is a florist – a modest job for a modest woman. She’s in business with her best friend, who also happens to be a submissive. And one day she meets Daniel, who is in her flower shop making a purchase with his grandmother. She feels an instant connection to him, an attraction she can’t deny. And that attraction is mutual. Neither of them can stop thinking of the other.

They begin a relationship that starts on the vanilla side of things, but after a surprising reveal of Daniel’s sexual proclivities, they delve into a BDSM relationship, allowing Julie to explore her submissive tendencies.

Things I loved about this book:

• Daniel is a swoony, hot man. He is tender when he needs to be, and firm and unyielding when he needs to be.

• I love that Tara Sue Me explores all the sides of a D/s relationship, and not just the sexual kink. She really delves into the mindset of both the Dominant and submissive.

• The conflict. It was realistic to me, and it addressed question I’ve sincerely had about what it must be like to explore this kind of sexual relationship as a novice.


Things I didn’t love so much:

• Daniel. Now, I know I said I loved him above, and I did. But Daniel is the perfect hero, who always says and does the perfect thing. And while that’s great for fantasy, I do enjoy reading about a hero who is flawed. He never came across as flawed at all.

• I find it unrealistic that every character in this book (Daniel’s grandmother aside) was involved in the BDSM scene. Especially the fact that both of their best friends were.

• The conflict resolution was a bit too tied up in a bow for me. While I kind of felt the suffering of the two main characters, I never once questioned whether they would be able to work out their differences.

I’ve thought a lot about this book today, and I’ve hovered over the similarities to The Submissive quite a bit. And what I’ve ultimately come up with is this: there are probably going to be similarities in any BDSM book because of the themes. And while some of it felt very familiar, I enjoy Tara Sue Me’s writing style enough that I wanted to keep turning pages. That says a lot about her ability to tell a compelling story.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming installments in this series. And she did a great job setting up the love stories we’ll read in the future. I’m particularly interested in where she’s going to take Cole. This was definitely a solid, enjoyable read. And I expected nothing less.

Quando começo um livro em que o tema principal é BDSM, fico sempre com a pulga atrás da orelha. Receio do que vou encontrar escrito nas páginas que vou virando. No entanto, neste livro Tara Sue Me aborda o tema de uma forma muito subtil e leve, explicando, ou tentando explicar as regras principais entre um Dominador e uma Submissa. A ideia que muita gente tem (na vida real) é que ter um tipo de relação assim deve ser vergonhoso, assustador e doloroso e até cruel. A questão é que, bem ou mal, em todos os livros que já li sobre o tema, em nenhum deles a Submissa me pareceu envergonhada, assustada ou até mesmo alvo de crueldade. Tudo bem que por vezes há quem leve a Dominação além dos limites e regras impostos, mas, e isso ficou bem explicito neste livro, há sempre um castigo para quando isso acontece. Para quem quer ter um estilo de vida sexual assim, é necessária muita preparação, abertura de espírito, confiança e, de certa forma, coragem de se expôr completamente.

I liked this book so much. It is a BDSM love story so different from other I have read. It has Tara Sue’s style. It is full of love, steamy moments inside and outside of the playroom and it has the touch of friendship that makes the story more interesting.

I fell in love with Daniel while reading this book, he is one helluva dominant. This book has something I like so much, it is written in third person but focus on their POV, it goes from Julie’s to Daniel’s, and that helps understand why they do what they do, and what they don’t. The angst was in perfect measure, thank God!

Julie is a great woman, she is beautiful, smart, independent, and not so innocent. When she likes someone she goes for him! I love how she was willing to accept her true self, her true nature, and I love even more that it was discovered with Daniel.

Daniel definitely made his way straight to my top 5 of dominants! He is intelligent, confident, caring and very, very handsome! I love reading a dominant falling in love, because the scenes inside the playroom are more intense.

The moment I love the most of this book is the first time they have sex, they didn’t make love that time, they were just knowing each other, but it was intense. I also love the pet name Daniel gave to Julie, I never thought that “kitten” was sexy, until I heard it from Daniel, yes I said “heard”, because I also listened to the audiobook, and Oh My God, it was so sexy, domineering and full of love and the same time.

The secondary characters have a big role in the story line, they are great friends, supportive, and very insisting TBH, but that helped a lot in Julie and Daniel’s relationship. I can’t wait for the next books of the series.

This was a really quick and really fun read. I can honestly say that I could not put it down. It had a very addictive quality to it. One where from the moment I began, I just needed to know where the story was going and where the characters would end up. The characters are likable and they have great chemistry.

Julie and Daniel are great together and the connection is instantaneous. I really liked them together and I liked their relationship. Julie is looking to explore her submissive tendencies and Daniel is an experienced Domm. However, they meet each other without either one of them knowing those things and I liked that they gravitated toward each other naturally. Julie is a great character; she is strong and spunky and is finally giving in to something that she has always been curious about. Daniel is also a great guy. He is of course a dominant alpha male but he never crosses the line into cruel. He is a great guy and always has Julie’s best needs at heart.

I think what I really enjoyed about this novel is that it was more than just Julie and Daniel’s relationship and the exploration of that. That is of course a huge part of the story and what it is centered on, but it’s also about Julie coming to terms with who she is as a person. Just as Julie is beginning to accept herself and her nature, she comes face to face with the dangerous side of this lifestyle. Her best friend is seriously injured in a scene gone wrong and it shakes Julie. It makes her question everything and she can’t seem to separate Daniel from what happened with her friend. It was interesting to see the flip side of things and see how it made Julie doubt everything. At the same time though, I felt like it enabled Julie to know exactly what she was doing and getting into and if she can trust trust Daniel knowing all that it may just make their relationship stronger.

I also really liked the secondary characters, especially Dena and Cole. Dena becomes a great friend for Julie, and Cole just seems fun. I’m hoping they each get their own books because I’d love to see more of them.

Seduced By Fire was a really steamy and really engaging read. I loved how it was so easy to read and get lost in. It was a great escape for a few hours.

This book is so beautiful. I love how thoughtful TSM's words are, like how they appear on the page matters to her. It looks like art.

David is so, so hot and Julie is super likable.
This reads so quickly and it's very sexy without seeming smutty (one of the reasons I've always loved TSM's writing.) The chapters go down like popcorn. Fast!! David is wonderful and soothing and very appealing. I love Julia.

It is a totally successful novel. I love the love conveyed. Not one single boring moment. I love the cast of characters here! I hope Cole and Sasha are in the future. I think my favorite scene was the whipping of ...someone. So many different emotions. I think that scene really highlights the almost knighthood of that community. So well done. Tara Sue Me's books always make me feel classier. These two are really a great gateway to this new series. Reminds me of J.R. Ward a bit with the Brotherhood Series

I have to tell you what happened to me while reading this book. I couldn't find my reading glasses but I was so involved I was going through anyway and I got to the part where David tells Julie she has a sweet pussy, but I read it as "sweaty pussy" and I was like, that can not be right. I made my whole family search for my glasses and when I found them I was able to read it correctly. Haha

I really enjoined this read and can not wait for the rest of the series. Read this book ladies, you deserve it!

This is a beautiful story of Dominance, submission and friendships. Julie Masterson owns a floral shop with her best friend Sasha, Petal Pushers. According to Sasha men only bought flowers for 2 reasons: to get in your pants, or to get back in your pants. Sasha has a lot to learn. I will say this now because you learn this early in the story, she's a submissive. She doesn't hide it from Julie and even invites her to her meetings. Julie not knowing anything of the lifestyle, she knows what Sasha tells her, is not ready for that kind of life. Or at least that's what she thinks.

The story starts off in the floral shop when 2 customers come in. A man and an older woman are shopping for flowers for her 5 year old great-granddaughter's ballet recital. Julie was left immobile by a low, deep voice and blue steel eyes gazing at her. She's mesmerized as he takes his leather gloves and has no idea what's come over her. All she can think about are those hands. Yeah me too Julie. Later on she learns from her friend Sasha that the man is Daniel Covington, Vice President of Weston Bank. She even tells Julie that women drop their pants for him and that she doesn't think they are compatible. I didn't think she was being a nice friend. Was she thinking she was better than Julie? No, this is not the case. Sasha knows what Daniel is.

The girls get a gig to provide all the flower arrangements for a benefit thrown by Weston Bank. Daniel hasn't stopped thinking about Julie since he was at the floral shop with his Grandmother. After they meet up to talk about what's expected of them, Daniel takes it upon himself to ask Julie out to the benefit as his date. Everything goes fine between them at the benefit. The date is a hit. Julie is feeling sexy and confidant. But is she a match for Daniel?

I'd like to say this is where the real story begins. Why? Because this is where all the fun starts. After their very sexy date, Julie leads Daniel to her room where she's thinking she's holding the deck of cards. Wrong Julie. This Alpha male has a few tricks of his own and he's not backing down. Julie is so turned on how this man has taken control. She's had fantasies and dreams but never a reality. I'm sure you've guessed by now that Daniel is the Dom. Oh Yes he is. The only problem is he's not ready to tell Julie. He senses that she has submissive traits but he's not willing to scare her away. Not yet. He really likes her. How is he going to tell her? Well big mouth Sasha invites Julie to one of her meetings, and who's the head master that evening? Master Covington!!

From here on it's up to you to find out what happens. I would really spoil it if I gave you more. Just know that there's a lot to learn. Take it as a lesson. There's no darkness or anything like that in this story. I personally found it to be so romantic. I am very curious to know what's going to happen to Dena&Jeff...Ay Dios Mio, that epilogue. I recommend this book to the Lovers out there. You will get your HEA. I Loved it. I'm looking forward to reading the next book from this series. Happy Readings!

I really did like this book as it was not your basic love story but it's also about learning more of the BDSM world.

This is my first Tara Sue Me book and it will definitely not be my last. I so can't wait for more from this series.

If you're looking for a story about BDSM but touches on issues that people may actually go through, this is the book for you. Tara creates a beautiful, realistic book with characters that are easy to relate to. I cannot stress enough how well the author writes about BDSM and the BDSM community without the need for over exaggeration etc.

Julie and her friend Sasha work in a flower shop. Sasha is in an active relationship with a Dominant, which is the type of the lifestyle that Julie thinks and dreams about to herself. It isn't until Julie meets Daniel that those thoughts get more prominent and she finds herself wanting more and more. Daniel is a Master, not only at his job, but of the same group that Sasha participates in.

Daniel ends up asking Julie out on a date and while he's interested in her, he thinks that she is "vanilla." It isn't until he begins to spend time with her and talk with her that he realizes that there might be more to her. As Daniel and Julie begin to get closer, talk about their desires and limits, something horrible happens to Sasha and it causes Julie to question everything that she has with Daniel.

These characters are well-rounded and written with a love and care that jumps from the pages. Daniel is a Master that not only exudes dominance and respect, but love and nurturing. He clearly cares about what Julie is feeling and experiencing. He is attentive to her needs as well as his own. Julie, while struggling to come to terms with her submissive nature, isn't weak. She is fiery and honest. She communicates with Daniel and he with her.

The book truly has an easy to follow flow and I am sincerely looking forward to the next book, in which I hope to explore the secondary characters.

From the moment you meet Daniel, he's instantly likable. He's good natured, fair, and confident in his sexuality (as a Dom). Julie is strong, successful, and not a push-over. She's genuinely curious to explore her submissive side, and she's fortunate her first Dom can be a guy like Daniel. (If only all new submissives could be so lucky). There's some strong chemistry between these two and it's enjoyable to see their relationship grow both in and out of the playroom. It's a delicious read with the point of views switching between Daniel and Julie.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but I think that Tara Sue Me does an excellent job highlighting all the concerns one might feel as they begin to explore BDSM. It feels very realistic and not forced for dramatic sake. She also introduces us to other characters who are equally interesting and are just begging to be featured in the next books of this series. (Hi, Cole, I'm pointing right at you!).

I continue to be completely taken with this series. The author's writing style is has an easy flow. Her character development makes me feel that the characters are real, with real life situations and experiences.

I look forward to following these characters through each new addition to the series.

I was hestiant to pick this book up because I was so invested into Abby and Nathaniel that I had no interest in meeting new chatacters. Well joke is on me. Shoot! I might even like Daniel and Julie more. I really hope sometime in this serious the two couples meet. That would be cool. Sasha's accident was terrible, and I hope she can manage to get though it and come out stronger in the end. I plan on starting the next book soon.

3.5 Star worthy for this reader. I've read this authors Submissive Triology and while I enjoyed it, I also started to find it repetitive. I do like this author and her style however I might just need a break from this subject matter. This is no reflection on the story per say..., it is just me and this was just ok.

I liked this book it was fast and fun. I liked the characters it was a little predictable but something in the way the characters I reacted appealed to me. I see she is writing more it will interesting to see which couple she will focus on next.

I must admit, I wasn't going to read this installment in the series but I'm glad I did. Much more interesting, exciting and intense than its predecessors.
