My original The Bleeding audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.
The Bleeding pulls you right into the terrific history of the Warren family with a prolog going back to 1978.
To stop any potential readers/listeners from feeling totally confused, I would suggest reading August To Life by Max E. Stone , a 76-page story, prior to listening to the Bleeding. The Bleeding is the continuation of the family saga involving the Warrens, Johnsons, and Bennetts. The short prequel introduces the numerous family members and provides the details of what happened between these families.
The Bleeding then continues 10 years after the tragic events that left some family members in prison and most of them deeply scarred. It’s a story about the vicious cycle of violence and abuse, about mental health and resilience. It’s a gripping psychological thriller that is pretty intense, but also has some very uplifting moments.
I think this story had huge potential, but I would have really liked it as one complete story rather than the two separate and very short installments. It is difficult to get a real sense of any of the characters because you swiftly go through different points of views amid a plethora of fast-paced action. There is also no real conclusion and I was left with plenty of questions at the end of The Bleeding. There is another short installment, called One Minute There by Max E. Stone , which I guess would answer some of my queries, but only The Bleeding is available on audio (so far).

This was my third experience of listening to Noah Michael Levine. The other times he was narrating in tandem with a female narrator. This was the first time I heard him as a single narrator portraying females and children. I’m pleased to say he was outstanding with those voices as well. I knew he is a very convincing narrator in the romance genre, but he also had no problems bringing the suspense, danger and high emotions of this thriller to life. I love his narration. The production quality was ok.
Narration 4.5 stars
Story 3.5 stars
Recommended as a short but entertaining crime story full of family drama.

The Bleeding by Max E. Stone is a story entailing how evil begets evil in the vicious cycle of abuse. young Derek is exposed to his mother’s ruthless beatings regularly by his own father and minister David. David dies a quick but horrible death and the cycle is born.

The flow of this story introduces each character, giving only slight clues to how they all tie together. The plot was brilliant. Eventually, little by little each and every person becomes tied to one another and the secrets and blood begin to flow. Derek Warren becomes the sinister father of a legacy that preceded him and a daughter who struggles to keep her sanity; all the while lingering on the edge of reality. I found myself hooked immediately.

An amazing novel with insight that seems could only come from first hand experience. I give Max. E. Stone a thumbs up. Absolutely loved it.

As a favorite book I've now listened to the audio and it is every bit if not more amazing than the kindle. The narrator is phenomenal, his voice is clear, he varies his inflection adding to the suspense and has a different voice for each character. He uses accents! I loved it! A true listening pleasure!

The story was really good. I loved every second of this story. The twists and turns the author sent me on it was crazy but awesome. I did not expect alot of things to go down into the book.* SPOILER ALERT* After reading the first story " August to Life"; Both characters Leann and Jon have grown over together and have dealt with a lot of foolishness which seemed to follow them still in their new life together. All these killings taken place around them seem to be in the name of them and for people that had scarred their lives many years ago. But yet and still there are still some questions that linger on top of my head. Which I do not want to disclose because it will spoil the book more. You must read August to Life and then the Bleeding. Both coincide with each other and. Leann is such a spitfire, Jon such a gentleman and a wonderful guy. And dealing with all these crazy people i commend the both of them. All I have to say is. People are crazy. If you are a type that likes mysteries with crazy stuff happening like finding a sawed off fingernail in a neatly beautiful wrapped gift box. This story is most definitely for you. I look forward to reading her next installment.

I will start by saying that this is not normally a genre I find interest in. However, the author indeed did grab my interest and held it throughout this fast paced story.

The opening confused me, simply because I was not familiar with this author’s way of introducing characters. However, once I puzzled out who everyone was, I was able to follow along, and soon became entranced by the mystery at hand.

This story follows the lives of a family ripped to shreds from horrific crimes committed against them. The author weaves a story from a few broken threads, eventually revealing how they all tie together, then leaves you wondering why you didn’t see the answers. Then you realize that you were asking all the wrong questions.

I give this four out of five stars. The author knows the craft well, and uses that knowledge to hook the reader. I recommend this to anyone into mysteries, crime, or action fiction genres; though I strongly suggest all grab a copy. A must read!

I rarely read horror stories, but this one was recommended to me by a friend so I had read it otherwise I would be lost when we get to discuss it in our girls' day out. I must say I wasn't disappointed at all. The plot was so cleverly laid that it will hook the reader right from the start and draw her in to keep reading. Who wouldn't like to know how someone could commit a murder from a maximum security prison when the victim is outside? It was tense and full of suspense. Yes, it was scary, but somehow I kept turning the pages. That is the ultimate goal of every writer - to keep the interest of the reader to the very end. I totally enjoyed it and I'm sure this book will go on to be a great success!

Just brilliant this book had me on the edge of my seat. I did have to put it down a couple of times because I was so mad after all these years in Jail Derek Warren was still bringing heart ache to the Bennett and Johnson families. I don’t want to giveaway anymore for I don’t want to spoil whats to come.
I just want to thank Max E. Stone on a great series. I look forward to reading more from you!

The Bleeding starts off a bit abruptly, with Stone throwing you into the ring with a full cast of strange and wonderful characters. The author begins to unwind his story, and the threads of mystery are laid bare.

A psychological thriller with more than a touch of horror, The Bleeding is intriguing, gritty and raw. The story plays out well, with every character well drawn. Their stories are fascinating, and at the end you're left sympathetic toward some and scared as hell of others.

I found the book a bit too short. I would have liked more interaction between the characters, and some of the scenes to be more fleshed out, but that's personal preference. The start was also a bit confusing, if you didn't read the short story that led to this book. It took me while to figure out who everyone was and what their places in the story were.

You'll enjoy this novel if you like reading mysteries, thrillers and horrors.

This book is all degrees of craziness! At first it took me a minute to get used to the jumping around...but once I did, I was hooked. There is violence in this book but none that is overly graphic. If you enjoy horror and mysteries I would definitely suggest picking this book up.
