Tyler is cursed. Not in the joking, having a bad week kind of day. He can’t seem to get through one day without injuring himself. He lost his job, his apartment, is camping out on his sister’s couch, and things just seem to be getting worse. So when a hot AF demon comes to his rescue, he jumps at the chance for a distraction. After all, what’s a better distraction from a bad day than sex?

Felix doesn’t trust humans. Not after what happened. But when his best friend drops him for his new boyfriend, he’s in desperate need of a distraction. And the clumsy human who can’t catch a break is a fun distraction. As long as he doesn’t get too close, what could go wrong?

But when they both realize that the curse is more than just a joke, they have to figure out how to get rid of it before Tyler gets hurt. Or hurts someone else. Because, you know, they wanted things to be hot between the sheets, but they weren’t exactly looking to light the thing on fire. Especially with them in it.

Don’t trust Tyler with fragile objects, curses, frat boys and demons, what could go wrong, trust issues, sexy times outside, caught in the act, stairs are dangerous, miscommunication, literal fire, it was an accident, witches mean business, Athena is sassy like always, confrontations, prank war, who thought this was a good idea?, sometimes sex should be fun, even pranksters deserve love

"Taming a Demon" is the second book in the Dallying with Demons series by Amy Padilla. I liked the first book but enjoyed this one more. There was an improvement about how certain issues were handled as well as with the flow of the narrative.

I usually avoid books with "frat bro" type characters. The MCs fit that but at the same time it wasn't too much, though there are some aspects of their relationship that feel too "frat boy" and not as adult ad the rest of their lives. That being said, it's nice to see Felix find love as a Demon with deep fears about the new realm he's living in, and it's great to see Tyler, discover what he truly wants in life and have his priorities realign. They seem to be a relationship that is never going to be boring.

Kinda makes me wish there was a darker guardian taking care of the bad guys. Another one that got off easy and could've been a lot worse. Ken was delusional and just all round awful. The police weren't much better. Other than that Felix and Tyler were two peas in a pod, funny and adorable. I liked that the friends were there on both sides. Here's hoping for more pranks in the future.

I was recently introduced to Amy Padilla and her Dallying with Demons series. The second book is "Taming a Demon."
["Tyler is cursed.

Especially with them in it."]

And the bonus tags (because they're arguable better than the blurb itself): ["don’t trust Tyler with fragile objects, curses, frat boys and demons, what could go wrong, trust issues, sexy times outside, caught in the act, stairs are dangerous, miscommunication, literal fire, it was an accident, witches mean business, Athena is sassy like always, confrontations, prank war, who thought this was a good idea?, sometimes sex should be fun, even pranksters deserve love."]

You know that kinda guy who pretends to be happy all the time? Who's the joking/funny friend in the group? Who's never serious? Who's the kinda frat/dude bro type? That's BOTH Felix and Tyler. I highlighted "there's two of them" multiple times while reading (it was great!).

They became fast friends (best friends), even before they succumbed to the lust between them. And when they started down the spicy path? They were sooo gone on each other. So gone :D

And what's hotter than a supernatural being protecting their mate in the face of death? No fucking much.

Trigger Warnings: a non-consensual kiss, threats of assault, trigger happy police officers, and more.

A pretty much perfect combination of humor, drama, steamy times and romance. I was drawn into this story right away, which is always a plus. After being introduced to Felix in Dating a Demon I couldn't not read his story and it certainly didn't disappoint. Felix and Tyler are beyond adorable and they made me laugh. As in Dating a Demon there is a fair bit of steamy times and maybe with this one a little less would have been nice but there wasn't so much that's all I got from the story. I would still put this one in the more story than sex category.

This author is fast becoming one of my favorites. Lets hope the winning streak continues with Claiming a Demon

**My one negative is this series cover, a naked torso doesn't tell you anything and may put some off. "Don't judge a book by its cover" really pertains to this set of books.

● Paranormal/fantasy
● Demon/human pairing
● Magic
● Drama
● Humor, made me laugh out loud
● Some sweet moments
● Boy, did I want to wrap Tyler up in bubble wrap 😂
● Steamy but still more story than sex
● Loved, loved, loved the MCs
● Part of a series, I wouldn't read this as a stand-alone
● Very satisfying HEA but the newsletter bonus scene was the icing on the cake 😉
● Would read this again

Hexes, Curses, Boyfriends!

Tyler and Felix were so much fun! A great balance of character, cuteness, spice, and plot. The whole thing gave me that 'squee' cozy feeling while I read it.

This is book 2 in Padilla's Dallying with Demons series, and it's a successful standalone. Sometimes the sophomore book struggles, but the writing here felt more confident, more comfortable with the world. The characters really played well together and I enjoyed Felix/Tyler SO much. They had great chemistry, the banter was great, and they connected on both a spicy level and a feels level from the start!

Felix is a demon with some human based trauma and anxiety who runs into Tyler - literally - a human with an escalating clumsiness problem. A traditional meet cute situation, really, and it works here. The mystery of Tyler's problem was well plotted and I enjoyed how it played out. I had some ideas on the twist, but I was sorta wrong - sorta right, and I love when that happens!

And the teaser chapter for book 3?! I think we might be headed back to heavier territory, but I'm already enamored with our human MC!

For anyone who read D.A.D, T.A.D is overall a lighter book themes/CW wise, although always good to check.

MM Human x Demon
Open door spice
Friends as found family
Low relationship angst, Mid level angst from outside sources

*ARC review. Thoughts and opinions my own*

This is the 2nd book in the Dallying With Demons series. I absolutely loved the first book Dating a Demon so I was looking forward to this book. It did not disappoint. I loved it. While this book can be understood as a standalone, you really should read them in order. The entire core of friends from book one are prominent in book 2 as well. This is the story of Tyler and Felix. Tyler is a human and he is currently suffering from a bad streak of luck. Felix is a demon and his best friend has found his mate, leaving Felix adrift and unsettled. After the incident in book 1, Felix is not interested in dating a human. The two meet at a Farmers Market when Felix saves Tyler from losing his sister's dog. Felix is instantly drawn to Tyler and walks him home to ensure that he gets there safely. Tyler and his sister fill the gap that Felix is having because his best friend moved out of their shared apartment. This is their story. I liked how Tyler and Felix first became friends before their relationship grew. When they realize that what Tyler joking refers to as a curse is in fact a real curse; the friend group unites to try and help Tyler. I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and easy to read. I just finished this book and I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.

i received a complementary advanced review copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Tyler is having more than just a bad day. He thinks he's cursed. If it could go wrong, it's going wrong. He lost his job, his apartment, and he can't get through a day without hurting himself. Now he's sleeping on his sister's couch. He thought he was being a klutz, but things seem to be getting worse and worse, and days go by. Felix doesn't trust humans, but when Tyler literally falls into his arms, he is intrigued by this clumsy human. Felix and Tyler realize that Tyler has had a curse put on him, and they need to figure out how to get rid of it. That might be easier said than done.

Taming A Demon is book two in the Dallying With Demons series but can be read as a standalone. This book follows Felix, a demon, who's interest in humans is piqued when his best friend, also a demon, becomes mated with a human. Felix never thought he would find himself in a relationship with a human until Tyler showed up. Tyler is clumsy and constantly hurting himself. Felix finds himself wanting to protect Tyler from being hurt. The curse placed on Tyler leaves him and sometimes him and Felix in some comical situations. I loved seeing Felix's friend group come together to help Tyler solve his curse problem. I can't wait for the next book in this series to release! This has such a great group of characters!

Completely hooked by Felix and Tyler

I loved Brandon and Callum's story, Dating A Demon, and couldn't wait to see Felix tamed. This wasn't what I was expecting, as Felix was in no way tamed, but it was so much better.
Tyler's life wasn't his own any more, clumsy to the point of dangerous and shouldn't be allowed out for his own safety, but his luck would change once he stumbled into a demon. Felix was rightly wary of humans and definitely a huge fan of the one-and-done, right up till the moment he realised this accident-prone human was not just growing on him but actually meant more to him than he ever could have imagined.
I loved their laughter-filled friendship, their easy affection, the steam in the bedroom, and the protective streak Felix quickly developed was so sweet. They were fun to spend time with, all the way through, but the underlying cause of Tyler's bad luck was fascinating too.
I loved seeing the other demons and Brandon and Isla, so entertaining to watch them all interacting, and making me even more impatient for the rest of the series.
Almost forgot, the epilogue was perfect and it absolutely epitomised the dynamic between them.

4.25/5 This was an entertaining read. It was a fun mystery trying to figure out what was really going on with Tyler (and guessing what absurd thing would happen to him next, lol). It was fun to watch Tyler win Felix over, and I enjoyed watching them both protect one another fiercely.

I liked the work in the friend group to figure things out with some of the changes going on. I thought some of their plans were a bit short-sighted but they didn’t have a lot of good options, and thankfully, everything worked out.

I’m not a fan of “frat boys” in general, and I was impressed how these two were still friendly and accessible to me as a reader. I might not want to hang out with them every day (and I can’t imagine living such an extended prank war), but they felt like real people rather than stereotypes, and they were clearly happy the way that they were. They were an excellent fit for one another.

I look forward to seeing more in the series.

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

I loved this!!!

This series is really becoming a happy place for me! Tyler and Felix were so sweet and I liked that there was zero shaming of past hookups (I hate, hate when that happens). Tyler and Felix were genuinely good guys who were fun and kind. Sure, sometimes they’re sense of humour was a bit frattish but I’ve got the sense of humour of a frat boy too so we’re all in good company lol. What I really loved though was that two characters who were jokey and loved pranks were also able to communicate, to care and take things seriously. They were flat characters. They had depth and I adored who they were. I will say I was kind of mad at Callum (no spoilers) but I’m glad that Tyler encouraged Felix to talk things out and that they were able to move forward with Callum being a little more aware of others. The mystery plot was both intriguing and slightly horrifying (in a good way because the baddie definitely gets his comeuppance). I love this series because it is light and fluffy, fun and sweet and has an interesting side plot intertwined. I can’t wait for Mal’s book!

‘Taming a Demon’ was a sweet read. There are some heavy topics discussed in this one like in ‘Dating a Demon’ but they never felt overly heavy. Please make sure to check the CW page at the start of the book.

Felix is completely distrusting of humans, except for Brandon and Isla, after he was a victim of a hate crime when he first arrived in the human realm. After a chance meeting with Tyler he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the young severely clumsy man and appoints himself as his protector. Poor Tyler is having the worst luck of his life - literally. His clumsiness led to him being unemployed and sleeping on his sister’s couch. Felix is sure something more is behind Tyler’s recent spate of bad luck and is determined to get to the bottom of it. Felix and Tyler are total frat bros who click instantly and Tyler gets under Felix’s skin from the very beginning. They really are great for each other and I am looking forward to more cameos from them in future books.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

There's a meet cute, where Tyler ends up in Felix's arms. They have a compatible sense of humor, both loving pranks. Their attraction is mutual. The sex is incendiary. Literally, nearly burning down Felix's apartment. Because Tyler is cursed. And Felix, who distrusts most humans, is determined to help him break the curse.
This is a friends to lovers type story. Both men start the story as commitment-phobes. But their attraction towards each other overrides their fears of 'relationships'. Felix is protective, but doesn't want to be overbearing. Tyler sees Felix beyond his mask to the sensitive demon underneath.
A very sweet book. Both characters are adorable, their pranks mostly innocent and cute. An enjoyable afternoon lazy rainy day read. I didn't read Callum and Brandon's book, but it wasn't necessary. I do plan on going back to read it. Hopefully before book three comes out.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my review.

In this second book in the demon-dallying series, Callum's bestie Felix - happy and slutty prankster - has his fear and distrust of humans thoroughly challenged.

Tyler is introduced when his sister's enormous dog escapes him and plows into Felix and his friends at the farmer's market. He is exhausted after months of bad luck and accidents, but he is also just as much of a happy, slutty prankster as Felix is. Neither of them is into anything other than hook-ups, and Felix don't do humans, so why are they suddenly enjoying each other's company so much? And what's with the flirting? And why are Tyler's incidents getting worse?

Next up: Claiming a Demon will be out in a few days, and I'm looking forward to seeing which of the demon guys is in trouble this time.

This is book 2 in the series and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book. Felix is out at the market with friends, when he hears shouting and a huge dog comes barreling their way. When the owner comes running up, Felix is wary as he stays away from humans. When Tyler introduces himself, Felix takes him home as he keeps being klutzy. Felix takes him home to keep an eye out for him. This is how they slowly started their relationship with realizing that Tyler is cursed and how all the friends helped. I love this world building with demons and other supernaturals came across the veil for a better life. Great chemistry between them with high heat. Cannot wait for the next book.

A great addition to the series, in Taming a Demon we meet a very clumsy human, Tyler and a demon who doesn´t trust humans, Felix and how they meet their HEA.
It´s well edited and I like how Amy Padilla writes, her books are easily read and very enjoyable.
The love story feels very real and I loved that both of them were surprised with each other.
Me met Felix and his gang of friends in Dating a Demon and they are fundamental to the story. In this book we encounter more background about human-demon reality and the difficulties an earth with paranormals for less than a decade can present.
I really enjoyed it and recommend it. Reading the previous book will deepen your understanding of it but it`s not necessary.

Felix and Tyler are pure chaotic gold. Tyler, the human disaster with the world’s worst luck, is instantly lovable and deeply relatable. Felix, still nursing old wounds, doesn’t want to trust anyone, let alone a human. Their connection begins as a distraction but quickly becomes something far more meaningful. The curse plot adds just enough urgency to balance the steamy scenes and soft moments. The banter is top tier, and their chemistry is undeniable. Despite Tyler’s clumsiness and the curse-fueled chaos, their love story is sweet and surprisingly grounded. Felix learns to let his guard down, and Tyler finally finds someone who believes in him. It’s messy, funny, romantic, and left me grinning the entire time.

Taming a Demon is the second book in the Dallying with Demons series. It can be read as a standalone but I love reading all the books in a series. This book is about Tyler a human who has been cursed and Felix a demon who doesn't trust humans. I so loved these two. Poor Tyler keeps getting hurt just by walking and Felix has a hard time trusting. I loved watching these two figure things out. I really enjoyed the plot of the book. I can't wait to see what happens to the next friend in the demon group. Amy does an amazing job of writing and world building. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

I enjoyed Felix and Tyler. The two are great together. Their story has a good mix of humor and emotions. I loved the banter between these two and it was fun to see the two find their way. I enjoyed seeing the different layers to each of their personalities, they are so much more than what everyone thinks of them. Not only do the main characters have a lot to say but the supporting characters also shine. It was nice to see how everyone comes together to help each other in times of need. Felix and Tyler’s story is a sweet and hot read that pulled me in right from the start. I am enjoying this series and am eager to return to this world to see what will happen next.

Second book is about Feliz and Tyler, I knew it was felix's turn.

The story really was not any better than the first book, but it was short and entertaining although I cringed when they any of the character said :" frat bro energy"...

Anyways Felix a demon who doesn't trust humans because he was almost assaulted when he first crossed to the human realm fall in love with a human and not only that, Tyler human that is hexed and that hex turned into a cursed because of a creepy psycho ex Co worker who was obsessed with him, the hex was running his life lost his job and if it weren't for Felix he could have died ages ago...

Hea is guaranteed.

Such complex and relatable, fun, weird, well-developed characters! Love this friend group & the mates & bumps & other stuff happening along the way. I am so looking forward to more, each demon finding his wonderful HEA with the perfect human mate for them, whether they like it or are ready or not! Great series, plots - the hex & the reasoning behind it was wacked! - are interesting, entertaining, amusing, intriguing. All of that and more. The snark & banter (especially in this one between Felix and Tyler) is impressive and fun. Eager to read more!

Thank you for the ARC, I voluntary give this an honest review. Dang another great read with amazing characters. Loving this world, how there is beauty even when it shows the hideousness of some of humanity.
Felix is a trip, that demon either has an secret obsession or just is crazy to ask to watch.
It would be hilarious when the wheels turn. Its has to be something wrong, right with Tyler because no one is this unlucky in life. Humans was total mind flip and Tyler was no exception to Felix weariness. Its just so cute watching Felix fall.

This was adorable, I loved that Tyler and Felix matched each other's energy so well. While their personality might be too much for other people, they were perfect for each other and brought so much laughter. The plot itself was also really interesting, I enjoyed seeing Feli's protectiveness as Tyler's "bad luck" continued to get worse and worse. I highly reccomend this book, I think I liked it even more than the first. Now on to the next because the teasers for the next one in the series at the end keep hooking me.

Pranksters and Frat boys are really for me, but juvenile hijinks aside, I did enjoy this story. Poor Tyler is having a very bad time, it's almost as if he's been cursed, he's so accident prone. Felix, the prankster in our demon friend group is very wary of humans, but when Tyler stumbles into him it seems all bets are off. This was a sweet story about a wary demon and an accident prone human, determined to laugh whatever the odds. I liked the plot and Felix and Tyler just seemed to complete each other.

I wasn’t sure I’d like this one because of Felix being a frat bro (which I’m usually bored by) prankster (which I usually hate, because sitcom-y cringe is NOT my thing). Liked it because Felix had more depth than I expected, and the pranks were intentionally designed to make the recipient laugh. Others might laugh too, but the goal was not humiliation, which also means I intentionally use the term recipient, rather than victim. I liked Tyler as well and felt the magic use aligned well with other aspects of the world the series is set in.

Felix and Tyler story was hilarious with a side of danger, teasing and shenanigans, friends that help in dire times, and hot sweet moments.
I liked the way their relationship evolved, the protectiveness, support and pranks they do to themselves and their friends.
I liked the revenge and the moment justice was served, how they realise the nature and importance of their feelings, and all the implications that resulted.
It was funny, engaging and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

Felix is a demon who doesn't trust humans. When Tyler's massive dog escapes and runs to Felix, he thinks it's a trap. But no, Tyler is all he appears to be, hapless. Unless it's something more? Both these guys are overgrown frat boys with pranks included and still act out. They fit together well, have sexy times and their friends help them in their time of need but need to grow up. Callum and Brandon from the first book return. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

Tyler and Felix are a couple of frat bro dorks, which made them fun to read as they played pranks on each other while dealing with Tyler's situation. Despite trying to hide from the world, they find they have some very good friends and more support than expected. And the bad guy gets exactly what he deserves. Overall, this was filled with a lot of fun, laughter and acceptance.

I noted maybe three proofreading issues in the ARC.
