Author's note: Spoiler Warning: This short story is set after Archangel’s Legion (Guild Hunter #6), and contains spoilers for that book, so if you haven’t yet read it, save this story to read afterward.
“Zoe’s Workshop” is part of my ongoing series of shorts about the everyday lives of my characters, away from the darkness and intensity of the main storylines. I love visiting with them, and I hope you do, too.
I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

I love the fact that Nalini Singh always gives her fans so many extra snippets and glimpses into the lives of her characters. All you have to do is sign up for her newsletter and you'll be regularly treated to these stories as well as being kept up to date with all of Nalini's latest releases - what more can you ask for?
This story shows us just a tiny morning in the lives of Sara, Deacon and Zoe but because we already know and love these characters it was such a delight to read. I love this little family and it was fantastic to see the three of them spending time together when Sara and Deacon aren't working. Zoe is adorable and I'm looking forward to seeing her grow throughout the series, I do wonder if we might get a full length novel about her sometime way in the future which would be fantastic.
Of course it does leave you wanting more but I think that's the whole point of these short stories - they just increase your excitement for the rest of the series!
Another "slice of life" story, this time featuring our favourite hunter family! Set right after the events of Archangel's Legion we see that all is right in Sara and Deacon's world. Zoe is just so damn adorable! The former Slayer and the Guild Director are the world's greatest parents. Little Zoe is one lucky, lucky girl. My heart just melted ^_^
Tiny look at a morning with Sara, Deacon, Zoe and Slayer. I like these little snippets away from all the darkness, they are a great idea and super cute.
Not really a needed read, but it's alright to get a glimpse of Sara and Deacon with their baby girl, specially if you are a fan of the couple. I'm not all that for them, but they are cute, I guess. Plus, I've decided to try and read every book in this series, short stories included.
Another cute short story from the Guildhunter series - this one is set after book six. I only got as far as book two, but am working my way through the ebook of Newsletter Shorts and figured I may as well review them as I go. I do enjoy these brief glimpses of her characters’ home lives as they live their HEA, and this one features a tough warrior couple being all domestic with their toddler.
This was another really good short story by Singh. It's about Deacon and Sara and their daughter Zoe. It's a cute little story that shows the love between Sara and Deacon and their mutual love for their daughter. Nothing important goes on during the story but it's still a very nice story that you'll want to read if you like the series (and Sara and Deacon). :D
What a sweet peek into the lives of Sara, Deacon and little Zoe. I really enjoy reading all the novellas. Although they may just be a few pages long, they make you love the characters even more.
Guild Hunter #6.5 Zoe's Workshop by Nalini Singh is another short story set in the author's Guild Hunter world and gives us a brief peek at a typical morning with Sara, Deacon, Zoe and Slayer.

Oh what an enjoyable little short moment between this spectacular family. Seeing what homelife is for the Guild Director is just wondrous.
Zoe is literally the cutest little thing ever. Seeing the ex-slayer now Weapons maker Deacon with his little precious daughter is so heart melting. Than seeing the different side of him when his woman Sara is in his arms *yum*.
Sara is one lucky woman to have a smexy man and gorgeous little girl.
4 Stars... Sara, Deacon, and Zoe Elena certainly add the humanity element into the “Guild Hunter” series... This short story takes place following “Archangel’s Legion” and depicts some much needed family time for these characters following the war... I love the interactions between these characters and the bond that they share... Completely sweet and a little sexy (One Word- Deacon). Loved it:)
3.0 -- It's unfair to get credit for reading a book when marking this as "read". It is a 10-minute read on Nalini's website. While fun to read and a little bonus into Deacon and Sara's relationship, it's not very in-depth. That won't stop me from reading all of the bonus stories on her site!
Loved Zoe Elena working with her daddy making weapons(not real ones). Sara-the GH Director and Deacon joke about their daughter how strong she already is, and may not need their help as much with boys and such. Their dog Slayer makes an appearance too.
I love the relationship they have with their daughter, Zoe!! 🥰 They are just adorable together! They are such awesome parents to Zoe!! 💝 Love that Deacon lets Zoe make weapons with her pink plastic hammer ☺️
Sara smiled against Deacon’s mouth. “Where do you think she learned that?”
Her gorgeous, talented husband stroked his hand down to her butt, squeezed as he demanded another kiss. “Nursery school, I bet,” he said afterward. “It’s a hotbed of sin.”
