Gift of Snow

Rate this book
Can a snow witch preserve her star-crossed romance with an earthen priest in a city seething with corruption?

This small town witch moved to the city to get an education. Not to grow hopelessly enamored with the antlered priest next door. Or to find out my presence here is a threat to the established order. What do you mean, young witches have to sign their lives away and have babies because our people are going extinct? That has to be an exaggeration . . . right?!

My daring neighbor and I are determined to find out exactly what’s happening to the witches lured into a savage breeding program. But when the priest in charge of the city realizes what we’re up to, I fear I’ll be the next to fall into his trap. Even though my antlered lover laid his claim upon me.

Until fate throws a cruel shackle around my heart . . . .

Fans of Discovery of Witches and Vampire Diaries will devour C.L. Carhart's suspenseful urban fantasy romance. This is Nelke and Tobias’ complete story.

A snow witch, an antlered priest, and a demand for women to study less and bear more offspring, all in a medieval fantasy world of castles of dominions. It’s a cool setting with interesting characters and makes for exciting adventure and an enjoyable read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As the conclusion of the Elemental Bloodlines series, this book kind of doesn't QUITE hit in that vein, and the previous - Gift of Wind - does it much better, consolidating all plots and wrapping them nicely.

This one is more a conclusion of the secondary story we get through the novellas (Gift of Light, Gift of Wind, and finally now Snow), which is ALSO important, as we learn about the corruption that was already prevalent after WWII, and how Lady Ilsa and her friend Nelke were trying to combat it, each in their own way of course.

Nelke and Tobias are another heartwarming couple, although I'll admit that the heroine seemed a little wishy-washy at times, blurting things out when she shouldn't have, or agreeing to something and then balking at the last minute. Still, at the very least she IS consistent in that this is a trait of her character and not just something that happens accidentally, which I can appreciate.

The story sets her up for a position from which she can neatly help others, which I ADORE. And I love how, through love with Tobias, she finds her footing and her space. The same for her priestly master, who I honestly adored.

All in all, I've LOVED my sojourn in the land of Teutonica, and as this was my introduction to it, I'll now be digging my way through Swanie and Augustine's story.

As well as waiting patiently to hear more about where Helena and Konstantin went off to, and what other mysteries the Black Priests will be dealing with!

100/10 recommend this series to anyone looking for a unique take on magic!

I think this may have been my favorite of the Elemental Bloodlines so far! I found Nelke, our snow witch, to be a very likable protagonist who, instead of just getting married, wants to go to secretarial school and find a career for herself. While staying with her uncle and his lover, she meets earth elemental Tobias, with a majestic set of antlers. Romance sparks, and this story shows a bunch of beautiful themes regarding representation, differences in sexual orientation, and acceptance. It was an excellent romance, and I look forward to seeing what happens next!

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Following Nelke on her tumultuous journey with her Truhtein, Tobias, it's a crazy and wild ride on a journey of discovery on the treatment of their fellow witches of Wells. Love can conquer all, but this time will it be enough to save their people or will the corrupt prevail. Familiar and lovable faces make a comeback making the read hard to put down while we read more about their origins than in their previous stories. Cannot recommend this series or book enough, C.L. Carhart has really captured the magic and brought it to life.

I’ll admit, I felt a little lost at the start of Gift of Snow, but I am so glad I stuck with it. Once the story found its rhythm, I was completely swept up in Nelke and Tobias. They are a fantastic team, and I loved watching them fight for their goals together.

The plot really deepened as Nelke navigated the pressures of her secret and new role. That added layer of drama and responsibility turned this into much more than just a romance; it’s a high-stakes, satisfying read that really pays off in the end!

How far would you go to be with the love of your life? Most people don't have to go very far, but Nelke and Tobias have to make some big decisions and get through huge obstacles in order to be together. Check out the last book in the Elemental Bloodlines series to find out what happens!

Plenty of drama, rescued witches, changes of fortune, and ballsy determination make this book a must read for any fan.

Nelke and Tobias have many hurdles they must face in order to get their happy ending. Many times it seems that adversity might win out. I loved this addition to this series. There was a lot of build up to the ending and I felt that the ending was a bit abrupt, but that’s the only con. Every thing else about this book is great. And I loved how they both felt connected to the city and each other and how they fought so hard to get what they want. Can’t wait for more to come in this world.

Luring Witches

What a way to wrap up the Elemental Bloodlines series. Nelke and Tobias must face hardships that places them in great danger before they can have their happy ending. However, the way they work together to figure out who is luring the witches was quite suspenseful and interesting. It was truly an incredible read.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.

I enjoyed this story with its bit of love, danger, trouble and fun characters. Easy to get sucked into the story and see if a young witch and her man can get their happy ending. Because of course there is drama and some surprises along the way. Funny scenes and trouble make the story fun to read. A great addition to the series.

Absolutely loved Nelke. Even though she’s a witch, wants to do something with her life. Well written, easy to love all the characters. A place you don’t want to leave.
