Teen Wolf AU It is 100% against Beacon Hills Sheriff’s Office policy to allow two officers engaged in a romantic relationship to be partners. It is also 100% accurate that no one else on the force can last more than three days in a car with Stiles without begging for either a ball gag or the sweet release of death. This sequel picks up almost a year after the events in Cherrybomb, with Stiles and Derek settling into a partnership on and off the job (as deputies in the Beacon Hills PD).
Derek has also long-since revealed his wolfy nature to Stiles, who accepted the news in typical Stiles form ("so basically, you're Wolverine." Hehehe).
In this story, the angst and safety threats come in the form of Kate freakin' Argent - God, I hate this bitch, no matter which form she takes in these fics. She throws a spanner in the works, but Stiles and Derek get through it together in classic Sterek fashion, and then all is right in the world once again. Phew.
So, yeah, the other reviews didn't lie - this was definitely a more comprehensive, affecting and enjoyable read than its predecessor. As a base story, Cherrybomb was a solid little read, but what we have here was much more agreeable to my Sterek sensibilities.
Oohhh, I really liked this sequel to Cherrybomb. It's a werewolf AU told in Derek's pov, peppered with some canon essentials.
So basically this centers on the life and times of Derek and Stiles - now partners on the police force, as well as outside of their job. It has great humor, fun, and snark that bookmarks quite a serious middle of angsty goodness as Kate makes a reappearance in their lives.
I'm finding it hard to give this fic justice for some reason. I seriously loved their intense relationship dynamic - how they handled each other so carefully, instinctually, and fiercely. For me it was very satisfying on all fronts.
Sequel to Cherrybomb. Again, so good with the feels - depth of hurt, depth of guilt, but now managing it with the love. Unfinished business from the boys' past is dealt with much more efficiently with them as a couple and gives a sense of closure to all the open wounds from Cherrybomb. My niggle: it went a bit too long and in reaching for the HEA approached some fluffy territory. But 85% of this story is solid five star substance.
As cute as Cherrybomb was this story was more satisfying. You get all the same smexxy Stiles and Derek interaction, but there is also some angst and hurt/comfort and a satisfying way to deal with the fire and Kate that did not feel manufactured. There are some significant breaks from canon to do that (the Sheriff's dead and Mrs. Stilinski is alive. Laura is more damaged than Derek who is emotionally intact.), but all the pieces fit together so it really worked.

Loved it! Stiles and Derek are cops! There's the usual Stiles banter, Derek's possessiveness, loads of emotions, hot sexy times, and a hint of danger. Recommend!
The relationship twixt Derek and Stiles, Stiles's continually improving relationship with his mom, Derek's relationship with Laura, everyone's pasts, the humor, the pain, they're all here.
It's kind of astounding but this author knows Stiles's voice. The way they write his dialogue, his inflections, drawing some words out, I can hear his voice plain as day. Well done!
There was one part that felt out if character for the way Stiles is in this alternate existence, and it was clearly used in an attempt to create tension and obstacle. It wasn't necessary given what all was going on and took things momentarily off track.
The humor, from both Derek and Stiles, is fantastic, spot on. This, and the way they just... be together, makes for a wonderful exploration of a relationship, how it falters and progresses.
"... horny trumps hurt."
True true true.
This could easily be a continuing series. There's so much potential, so many story possibilities: all of the relationships, the pasts that don't seem to want to go away (do they ever?), and the fun to be had, plus the sexy times that feel unique and yummy, all of these lend themselves to more, more, more.
Read Cherrybomb, then this sequel last night, quite liked both-wavering between a 3 and 3.5 for both. Overall great stories, quick reads but lots of cute Sterek moments despite the 'heavier' themes.
Somewhere between a 3 and 4. I absolutely loved cherrybomb, and this was wonderful as well. Stories where people have to work at their relationships hold a special place in my heart. I would have liked even more of that, more of the grapefruktssked kind, but still good.
I really liked the bits where we could see their relationship evolving, and I'm a huge fan of snippet type of storytelling. Wasn't quite as enamoured with the villain part (apart from it being Kate, and her absolute lack of understands at Stiles loving Derek despite/because of him being a werewolf).
3.5 stars. I gave it 4 stars overall because it's Stiles and Derek in police uniform.
So, Stiles has joined the Police Academy and is now partnered with Derek. Some of the original spark was missing, I got annoyed with the little time hopping at the end (where I didn't figure it out until much later that I was reading about Derek and Stiles' plans right after their fight then moved back to what happened once Kate was arrested) and Laura was a bit annoying for some reason. Thus the grade lowering.
However, what I did like was Stiles' banter (as usual), Derek's protective streak and hidden passion (maybe even obsession) for Stiles which really stands out now that the story is told from Derek's pov. Also, another think I loved was the mature way they worked together to sort out their personal issues but also come up with a plan against Kate. It shone a light on Stiles' seriousness which is not always seen.
