Awesome read! Watching Fireflies has a cowboy hero who is a sexy and charming and a heroine who is sweet and likeable. They have an instant love connection. I like the fact that the conflict in this story is from outside forces and not their relationship. Once the couple is together they stay together. Highly recommend.

Note this may have a trigger for some readers

I wanted to love this book. Gorgeous cowboy, sweet story etc, but I'm stopping at 62%. The predictability and professing of "I love you's" a week after meeting .....too insta love and I just didn't feel it. :(

LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

I first read Watching Fireflies on Wattpad and have been fortunate enough to read the soon to be published version as well.
Warning: Once you read this book, you'll want to read it again and again! And then you'll be going crazy waiting for the next book to come out!!! Jaycee writes in a way that makes you feel like YOU are actually living in the story right there with Tom, Jordan and the rest of the gang! I can honestly say that I have not been this obsessed with any book series since Harry Potter!!! So JK Rowling, watch out! Lol!

Why this is rated 4.75 remains a mystery to me. I had to stop 75% into the book when I really shouldn't have read past 25%. It was one of the most cheesy instant love books I have ever read.

She picks this small town to find herself and start her new life off the radar. Tom is a cowboy and handy-man that meets Jordan in an interesting position. They get to know each other while holding onto secrets and trust issues.

What would you do if you walked in on you fiancé getting it on with another woman? Jordan throws her engagement ring at him and runs out the door ending their engagement three months before their wedding. One big problem, Ryan Jordan’s Ex, doesn’t want to let her go. “Sweetheart, you know I won’t stop until you come back home.” “And I always get what I want.”
Fearing the man that Jordan once loved, she leaves her parents, her best friend Katherine and Charlotte, North Carolina and hides in a small town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Starting her new life as a community college history teacher, Jordan meets Tom McCloud, the sexy cowboy, in a very compromising position where not only sparks, but bath bubbles fly.
Watching Fireflies has it all. Steamy love scenes, a stalker Ex, and a protective new love interest. Jordan grows into a strong woman during this book and takes charge of her life. Tom is a strong, yet vulnerable man that wants nothing more than to love and take care of Jordan. Ryan, as Tom so eloquently puts it, “Is an evil douche bag.”
Watching Fireflies is the first book of The Love Bug Series. It is a stand alone novel. It is followed by, Dragonfly Awakening and Hornet's Nest. Both books are about characters that you meet in Watching Fireflies.

My Rating:

4½ Contented Stars

Favorite Quotes:

“You’re making my heart do things it’s never done before.”

“He gave me a mix of nervous excitement and calm. I didn’t know how it was possible, but it was.”

My Review:

Sweet! I enjoyed this book beginning to end. It was truly refreshing to read a contemporary romance where the two main characters are not in constant conflict with each other, nor do they fight their attraction, deny their feelings, or feel they have to “let them go” for their own good. They adored and loved each other, enjoyed and explored a new love, and reveled in each other. Why is that so rare? The conflict, as there always has to be some… came from an external source and proved to be the vortex of the suspense elements in the book. I had not read Jaycee Ford before and had no expectations. I am now a new fan. I enjoyed her easy narrative, humor, and observations. Her characters were interesting and comfortable. The book was an easy and fast read, a providing me with a pleasant and entertaining afternoon. One I would like to repeat with even more of her work.

Jordan had just finished her masters and was heading home to surprise her fiancé a day early. She knew Ryan loved structure and routine so she didn’t use the key to what was going to be her apartment. Instead she knocked, and then knocked again. Then she decided to use her key. Hearing the showering running she instantly thought of what he looked like naked in the shower and started that way. Only when she got there she didn’t find him alone. She was shocked and that’s when the trouble began. He tried to stop her from leaving by grabbing her arms so hard he left deep bruise that would take weeks to go away. When she finally managed to get out of his grasp and getaway she was horrified. She spent the summer wallowing away in her childhood bedroom. Ryan constantly called and texted her. She asked him several times to stop calling and texted he just kept doing it. She then went to stay with her friend Katherine. Katherine left her friend to feel sorry for herself for a couple more days and then decided she needed a dose of tough love. This helped Jordan. They went out for a girl’s night that didn’t end well. Ryan managed to find her at the club. This lead Jordan to decide to leave the city to get away from Ryan and try to start over. She gave up her job at a great college to take one at a community college. After just one day there she has an embarrassing incident with the Inn owner’s nephew who came to fix the leak in her room. Upon seeing her in the tub Tom saw her and felt something he hadn’t felt for any women before. He was instantly taken with her. This one incident lead to the start of their wonderful journey. How long will it take for Ryan to find her? Will Jordan be able to love again after what Ryan did to her? Will Tom be able to break down all the walls Jordan has built around herself? I really loved this book. Ryan was totally bat shit crazy. Sure he loved Jordan in his own crazy way but not in a healthy way. Jordan and Tom has an instant connection. They were drawn together by a magnet force. Jordan was constantly worried if she should follow her heart or listen to her head. Worry if it was all happening to fast, if it was to go to be true. Tom was instantly taken with her. In the past he normally didn’t do relationships, but there was something different about Jordan. He felt things he had never felt before about a woman. He just wanted to protect and love her forever. I look forward to reading more of Jaycee Ford’s books.

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

City meets country in Jaycee Ford's incredible debut novel 'Watching Fireflies'!

This book is unbelievably amazing and I'm so glad I read it!! It's one of the best country books I've come across lately. Tom and Jordan are completely perfect together and kick this series off with quite a bang!

I absolutely love Jordan and her passion to fight for a new beginning after her heart is broken and she moves away from her home in Charlotte, North Carolina...even if it took a little nudge from her spitfire, best-friend. And let's not forget Tom McCloud, a sexy as all get out cowboy who's not looking for love and is perfectly happy running his grandparent's farm. Imagine their surprise when they meet and sparks fly. If Jordan decides to stay will she open up to Tom and let her heart heal? Or in the end will tragedy keep them apart?

From sweet, tender, hold-me-cause-I'm-crying moments...to fan-yourself-cause-it's-gettin'-hot-in-here moments this book will not disappoint. Not to mention a crazy ex-fiancé causing all sorts of on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense!

I'm honored to have been a beta reader for the wonderful Jaycee Ford and I cannot wait for this release in August!! Make sure to buy your copy August 19th and be on the look out for more in the Love Bug series.

It was everything and more. It was the very first book that I read about the country and I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to like it since I'm more of a city kind of girl. Oh but how wrong I was, I fell in love with this book! Made me laugh, made me cry, made me believe that I might one day fall in love with a cowboy… *sigh*...
Jordan was PERFECT, the type of girl who doesn't take anyones bs AND knows how to stand up for herself, thinks before she acts, and well balanced.
Tom… well Tom was absolutely freaking AMAZING!
buuuuuuutttt I believe that Ellie was my favorite!! I just simply adore her!

I also fell in love with the author's writing, which i didn't even think it was possible to fall in love with someone's writing but i did! The way she writes just makes you FEEL! She describes everything in such a perfect way that you just can't help but actually feel that you're in the story, do I make any sense? haha

Caution:
There are few chapters where there is talk of delicious food…. soooo if you're reading this book in the middle of the night just beware that you might get very hungry! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Especially the pot roast with potatoes and carrots… I want!

I loved every bit of "Watching Fireflies" for this being Jaycee Ford's first book she did amazing.

I mean you felt the love, the sexual attraction, the intensity of the good and bad situations. Your eyes would water up with every good or bad situation. I felt my heart race at certain moments.

Tom McCloud what a cowboy he is. A farmer who worked his families ranch with his friends after his families passing from high school on. A man who thought he was invincible until he me Jordan Hawthorne.

Jordan Hawthorne who was a recent graduate on the run from he stalker ex-fiancé landed a teaching job in a small town. Took a bath and closed her eyes to relax only to wake up to one hell of a sexy cowboy. One who kept her heart locked up and it broken into by this cowboy.

Yes people I solely recommend you check out this book. It is a perfect read in my opinion.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

Neither Jordan nor Tom are looking for love, but when they meet, things change. Jordan falls for Tom a little quicker than I would have expected for someone in her particular situation, but their chemistry is strong from the start. Speaking of which, how they meet is pretty funny too. The characters felt real and they had substance. They were characters I enjoyed rooting for. Watching Fireflies is a cute and steamy romance with some humor and suspense mixed in all the right places.

Watching Fireflies by Jaycee Ford was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

FIVE SPARKLING STARS

Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse Nuttall on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever.

I had no idea what was in store for me when I started to read this book and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Even though it took me a while to get into it, I soon realised that the first few chapters had a solid backbone for events which would take place later on. This is a love story underlined and highlighted and I absolutely loved it.

Jordan Hawthorne has just finished her degree in history, and she’s excited! She going to have the job of her dreams, she’s engaged to the man she loves and the future couldn't look rosier. But something goes dreadfully wrong and her whole world comes crashing down with the bat of an eye. No matter that she'd fled to a little town where she was welcomed with open arms, she still kept receiving bothersome text messages from the last person she wanted to talk to. The only people that know of her whereabouts are her parents and her best friend, Katherine, who I might add, are really lovely folk and will play quite an important part in the story. I really connected well to Jordan, and it was easy to understand why she had so many trust issues. Her reasons for not making any long-term plans, her need to protect herself from a person she thought she knew; fitted into her character perfectly. This person’s true colours are to be disclosed, and it’ll make you want to jump into the book and strangle this despot with your own hands!

'...How could I have been so oblivious?'

Hers was a case of once bitten, twice shy; however, she wasn't banking on meeting the most outrageously good-looking and polite cowboy, Thomas McCloud. Sparks fly from the first moment they set eyes on each other, and believe you me, their attraction palpitates! Spellbound by her beauty and her bubbly personality, this cowboy uses his natural chivalry to find out why she’s so dubious about getting involved with him. Mind you, having a reputation as a player doesn't help either.

"Open your eyes, darlin'." When I opened them, I gasped.

When Thomas finds out that the person stalking Jordan is her ex, he has an ominous feeling that something’s going to go terribly wrong. He’ll try to protect her from the danger she’s in without upsetting her more than she already is. Will he be able to save her from Ryan Gordon? Who is this man? Had the truth been revealed earlier, would it have made a difference? As this well-thought-out plot reaches an excruciating level, it might not be a bad idea to have a full packet of Kleenex at hand because I can guarantee you’ll lose more than one tear drop.

'Maybe cowboys didn't cry, but a man who lost his heart did.'

The sex scenes are explicitly described to perfection! They’re hot, steamy; and put the air-conditioning on folks. I had to! The two protagonists are adorable, and the secondary characters have a story to tell, too. Will we be seeing more of Ellie, Paul, Katherine and Lance Ms. Ford? Not only was I impressed with the banter between all of them, but I also liked the way you have managed to get the authentic southern accent across to the reader. I read your outstanding début novel in one sitting. In a nut shell...bravo!

Holy hot sexy cowboy!! Jacee Ford has really out done herself with this one. This is one of those books that I will read and reread without giving a second thought to it. The characters in this book were phenomenal!! She was able to bring us the view from both main characters, as well as insight to the background characters. I really can’t say enough about this book and the characters. Jordan is an amazing woman, who was strong, while vulnerable and sexy while not giving it all away for free (even though the way her Tom meet he gets more than a free preview..Lol). Tom well moan oh mighty I think every women alive will agree with me that if we could clone him and keep him for ourselves we soooo would.

Jordan is getting ready to start her life after graduating university and decides to surprise her fiancé Ryan by coming home a day early. The surprise unfortunately is on her when she walks in on him in the shower with another woman. Broken and betrayed she runs to her best friend. The only problem is Ryan refuses to let her go. He torments her with a promise of what he wants he always gets. When enough becomes enough Jordan runs again this time to a small town in the mountains to become a teacher of history at the local college. Her home away from home became the local inn but she never would have imagined that the very in she is staying at would bring her one Tom McCloud. While nursing her broken heart in the tub Tom unknowing walks in on her. And well the rest as we say is history.

“The only thing better than you falling asleep in my arms is you waking up in my arms.”

Smoking hot and uber sexy talking Tom McCloud is a rancher but also helps out his aunt and uncle at the inn when they need him. He never gave thought to settling down with one woman until the day he finds the sexiest women he has ever seen soaking in the tub of the room he was supposed to work on. One look at her and he was determined to make her his and make her his he does and let’s just say it is one sweet and hot ride that will leave you needing a cool shower and wanting the sweet talking man to sweep you off your feet.

Once these two find each other it should be smooth sailing but Ryan was still not ready to let Jordan go. But what they don’t know about him is just how determined he is and that he may not even be who they thought he was and what his real history is.

Really you all need to by this book ASAP and I know you will be as sucked in as I was. Very rarely do I find a book that can bring me super-hot sex, a sweet as hell cowboy, a woman that is willing to be her own person and a lot of suspense that will have you guessing what will happen next. Miss Ford you have done a wonderful job here and I hope that we will get to come back and catch up with this group!! Maybe with Katherine and Lance perhaps??

This is a fantastic book. I wasnt that thrilled with the first chapter, and almost put the book down, but i didnt and i ended up loving it so so much. the first chapter was slow for me but after getting through a few more chapters, i found it to be a not so slow chapter and i completely get why it was written that way, because it explained Jordan's take on what her ex did... though there was so much more that BIG STUPID A**munch did, but i wont give you any spoilers so if you want to know what he did, but the book. It is so worth the money.
Jordan needed some tough love from her bestie, Katherine when she couldnt get out of her depression after what that loser ex did to her, and Katherine made her go let loose a bit at a night club, however her ex, Ryan was there and he isnt taking no for an answer. This leads to Jordan leaving town and starting over in a new place, leaving behind her friends and family, and a dream job she was supposed to start after graduating college. This is where she meets Tom McCloud. Big, gorgeous, sexy as all hell, sweet, romantic cowboy. He's got it ALL goin' on. Can he break down the walls Jordan has built around her heart, her soul? Tom is instantly attracted to Jordan, and though Jordan is attracted tot him as well, those walls are up high and thick and she is not wanting to get hurt again by a man..... As Tom slowly starts to break down those walls, you get some sexy time, some serious action and a total twist you dont expect from the bat shit crazy ex boyfriend Ryan ..... you get some love and laughs, and i for one and rooting for Tom to get in there and get that woman, and make her his ....
This was well written and the grammar and spelling are good.
I really fell in love with Tom so much. Makes a girl want her own cowboy ....
I hated Ryan and im sure that was the goal, so mission accomplished. Katherine is a completely cool bestie and I loved her character, im hoping she gets her story told next.
I would definitely recommend this book and im looking forward to more from Jaycee Ford !

Watching Fireflies

I was gifted this story in exchange for an honest review.

Jordan Hawthorne is excited. She has just completed her last exam and is heading home. She has landed her dream job and is going home early and will be able to surprise her fiancé. All is good in her life. Unfortunately the surprise the she gets when she arrives home is not a good one. Her perfect life is now over, the cheating fiancé is no more, the dream job no more and she is running away to start over.

She accepts a job in a small town of Blue Ridge Mountains and tries to start over. The people her are a little slower and she slowly fits in. She makes new friends. Aunt Ethel runs the Inn where she is staying and is very welcoming. Her nephew Tom is the general handy man and after an embarrassing afternoon when he catches her naked in the tub he has come to fix, they too become friends. Soon a little bit more than friends. It is a beautiful relationship as they watch fireflies in the night sky.

Soon however her idealic life is going to get a rude awakening as her ex-fiancé Ryan is spotted walking around town. He is asking questions about Jordan, where she works and where she lives.

This was a beautiful low key love story. The characters were well thought out and easy to love. I felt that will the slower pace country town, the characters were more real to life. I effortlessly connected with them. The author does a great job keeping the suspense with the spottings of Ryan going on. How easily he is able to sit down and have a beer with Tom as the local bar. Very scary. Will he be able to come into contact with Jordan? We know that he has a history of violence, is Jordan in danger? These are very serious questions, they all need to be answered and the only solution is to read the story. I would rate this story a 5/5. I loved it. It was a truly beautiful read.

Watching Fireflies by Jaycee Ford is a stand-alone romance novel that will take you on a wild ride of horrific breakups, stalker ex's, new love, and extreme danger.

Jordan needs a do-over, a fresh start. She is in fear of her safety from her psychotic ex-fiancee and is taking her new teaching degree to a small community college in a tiny town hours away from him and what she thought her life would be. She didn't expect the intrusion in her hotel suite from the handy-man there to fix a leaky faucet, smack dab in the middle of her bubble bath.

Tom is a farmer by trade and a handy-man by familial obligation at his aunt & uncle's small town inn. He finally shows up to fix a leaky faucet and believing the guest to be out after knocking multiple times is blown away by the bombshell soaking in the bathtub.

Awkward meeting aside, these two fall in love fast, hot and heavy and everything rolls along almost perfectly until the crazy ex shows back up in town.

I felt the writing style was a little awkward for me at times. Perhaps another editing round wouldn't have hurt, but the story and depth of characters had me reading this story non-stop. If it hadn't been for the awkwardness I felt at the flow early on this would have been a solid 5-star read and I am very excited that Ellie and Paul's story is coming up next in Dragonfly Awakening and will definitely be adding that to my priority reads list.

Can you believe in love after everything you had is taken away? Jordan had a perfect life. After she graduated from her master everything changes, when she finds out her fiancé cheating. She runs away to Blue Ridge Mountains and meets Tom. Can Tom make her fall in love again and protect her from the world. This book is filled with love, passion and suspense. The first book of the LOVE BUG SERIES, made by Author Jaycee Ford, makes you fall in love with cowboys. Both of the main character will make you fall in love.

Jordan is very hard- headed and determined. Even though she has her demons inside she is willing to continue in life and have the best she could get. When she mets Tom she gets the best

“Maybe one day I would be immune to his southern charm and would no longer blush at every little thing he said or did, but in all honestly I doubted it.”

As for Tom every thing about him screams perfection. Tom is so full of southern charm and is like an excellent book boyfriend his words makes you swoon all over the reading.
“I want you to know, I will never ever hurt you, but, baby… if we start this, I’ll never want to stop”

“I couldn’t het enough of her. I knew I loved her. I loved her more than anything in this world, but what I felt was something word couldn’t describe. I craved her.”

The end of the book is very turbulent and unexpected but is also exciting in the best way possible.

This is the first book I read where the hero is a cowboy and I really enjoy every part of it. The charm they have in my opinion is like one of the best in the world. They have like this cocky attitude but it comes to their girls their hearts melt. So I totally really enjoy this book, you must totally get it and get in this new amazing cowboy adventure.

This is author Jaycee Ford's debut book and all I can say is wow, just wow. There are 5 things I look for in order to give a 5 star review, and Watching Fireflies has them all.
1. Are the characters well developed and believable? Yes, I felt like I knew the characters personally and could imagine them coming over to my house to barbecue, sing karaoke and drink adult beverages.
2. How realistic are the events, locations, and character emotions? The events were realistic and not "overdone" like you sometimes see. The location could have been right next door to me. I live on a farm in SC, so I could easily picture the small town she moved to. I've visited Charlotte and the Blue Ridge Mtns many times and she captured all locations perfectly. I was emotionally engaged with the characters and may have even laughed out loud a few times. I even wanted to slap Jordan a few times while she was grieving the loss of her "perfect" relationship with the douche.
3. Was the author able to maintain my attention throughout? She drew me in and was able to keep my attention throughout the entire book so I wasn't skimming over pages.
4. Were there any major grammatical errors?
I'm not a grammar nazi, but I'm turned off by repeated errors. I'm extremely happy to say that there were no noticeable grammatical errors.
5. Would I buy other books by this author? Absofreakinglutely!!!! This is her debut novel or else I'd be one-clicking right now. I loved Paul and Lance and can't wait until they get their own story.
This was an amazing debut novel and I look forward to reading many more books from Ms. Ford. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes romance and HEA.

The blurb grabbed my attention when I read this book. And I can honestly say I loved it.
I felt from the start I couldn't wait to get to the next page. Once I started I couldn't put it down. It was a long night until I was finished. I think at one point I was on the edge of my seat. trying as fast as I could to get to the next page.

It was a stunning story of betrayal, angst, friendship, new beginnings, stalkers and hot cowboys.

Jordan is in college, is engaged and has secured a prestiges position as a teacher in her home town. After finishing her finals, she decides to surprise her fiancé by coming home early. But she ends up with the surprise.

And things end up up changing for everyone.

Sorry no spoilers guys, but this book is recommended for your "TBR" List.

I loved everything about it. The characters, the setting, the way the story flowed. I felt like I was watching a movie play out in my mind. And ladies holy moly ...... Hot Cowboys, did I already say that.

I cant wait for the next book. This book is a standalone book. The series will feature different characters from the story.

Jaycee. This book was stunning. Truly amazing.

I give this 5/5 stars and 2/5 for movie moments.
