George is a mystery writer in a small town who wants nothing more than one date with the local bartender named Trudy. When he finally scores a date, he is ecstatic. But the night before he his bitten by a vampire–and accidentally transformed into a member of the Undead. He assumes any chance he had with Trudy died the same night his need for food did. But, Trudy is more than she seems. A werewolf hunter on the run she knows all about vampires and if she can keep them both alive for any length of time, she might be just what George needs to survive. Can love survive an accidental bite?
My Review: This is a light entertaining read. George is a quiet novelist who's had a crush on the local bartender forever. She's turned him down for a date 8 times. Well, the 9th time is the charm but before they can go on their date, George is accidentally turned into a vampire.
Luckily for him, Trudy is a werewolf hunter so she knows all about the paranormal world and isn't weirded out by his new diet. But she has her own set of issues since she's being hunted by werewolves...not sure where that all fit in with the werewolf HUNTER side of her persona, but there it is.
This isn't a real long story and it doesn't have a whole lot of depth, but it was fun and kept my interest throughout. There are several roadblocks to Trudy and George's relationship along the way that have to do with them both being part of the paranormal world.
It's a light, quick read and there were some funny moments that left me smiling. It served as a good diversion from the real world for a couple of hours.
Shy human author George Perkins has been in love with were-wolf hunter Trudy Rulan since she first appeared behind the Honky Tonk's bar in the small town of Hedy, Texas and despite her continually refusing to go out with him, he knows she was born to be his wife. She's already turned him down eight times, but he had to give it another go and this time, good job he was sitting down, she said yes and his heart soared. She agreed to have dinner with him when her shift ended, if he was still able after his friend Ryan's bachelor party that night. Unfortunately, he wasn't, and not for the reason you might expect. On his way out of the club he was attacked by a rogue vampire but his friends found him before it was too late.... and opened a whole new can of worms.
After witnessing the brutal murder of their father, Trudy and her brother Devin had been on the run for years. They split up to make it harder for the were-wolves to track them and Trudy knew she really shouldn't get involved with George, but she really likes him and it hurt when she got a message from his friends cancelling their date. Then she got word from her brother to run again, and she did, but she couldn't stop thinking about George...
I'm not going to give spoilers, but there's a lot of story packed into this novella length book. Rebecca Royce is one of my favourite authors and I've read almost everything she's written over the years. 'Bite Marks' is something a little different to her other paranormal romances and slightly more unusual than the typical vampire romance since neither of the two main characters, suspense writer George and were-wolf hunter turned hunted Trudy, start out that way, it happens on the rocky road to true love. Written to be a stand alone, rather than part of a series, this terrific paranormal romance is a love story which has everything you could want including the HEA and is equally as good as everything else I've read by her. At times, it had me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh and cry and hope and finally sigh with relief when there was a happy ending after-all. It also made me angry at Trudy's brother Devin for the life he forced her to live. I loved the characters and there are several who could easily have their own stand alone stories, and I'd love to read them. This book left me with a smile on my face and I absolutely loved it.
This is a book from an author that I've only recently started to seek out but as she seems to love paranormal romance almost as much as I do she is definitely on my wish list. This is the first in her Paranormal by Mistake series and is quite a quick read so I'd personally describe it as a novella but there was still some really interesting development in this story. It follows two very different people , George who is madly attracted to Trudy and about to have a very bad experience! Then of course there's Trudy who might seem to be an ordinary bartender but she has very dark secrets and her past is about to catch up big time! Now some might think that George is a bit stalkerish but his heart is most defnately in the right place and when his life changes dramatically there's only be thing he wants to do and yes you've guessed it , it involves a certain sexy bartender ! I love the title of the series as I think it instantly let's readers know they are in for a fun adventure and trust me there's a particular Vampire in this that had me making all kinds of guesses! I even think I might have worked out just who he reminds me of but no spoilers and enjoy discovering that for yourself! This author pulls the reader in from the very first page with her fast paced story but it's not an easy ride for this couple. Society ( yes even Vampires!) has laws that have to be obeyed but there's a saying that rules are meant to be broken and George is about to discover the truth of that. Add in the fact that Trudy has been lied to and the result of her discovering the truth is devastating and you begin to understand just how much the author packs into this short book. This thoroughly entertained me with both saucy moments and action as well. Most definitely a fun read with most unusual attire for certain characters ( doilies, really?) and my only complaint is I want more! If you thirst for a quick sexy read then this book should fit the bill quite nicely . I was gifted a copy of this by the publisher for an honest review
Bite Marks is the first in the new line from Fated Desires called Paranormal by Mistake. It was good, it was short I think too short, everything just happened really all at once and wrapped up quickly. I haven't read an actual undead vampire book in a while for the main reason that it weirds me out; they are dead doesn't matter that they are vampire they are still dead. I would rather read about vampires that are aliens, or genetically altered, or are a different species. Ok that aside it was an entertaining read, I liked the characters George and Trudy, the situation even rushed was funny and exciting.
Quiet introvert mystery writer George fell in love at first sight with the beautiful and mysterious Trudy the bartender. Time after time George has asked her out and Trudy has repeatedly turned him down until one night she finally gives in and says yes. Unfortunately later that night on the way home from his friends bachelor party he get bitten by a vampire and left for dead then becomes one of the "undead". Dejected he feels like he has lost his chance with Trudy, little does he know Trudy is a werewolf hunter and is on the run from a pack of werewolves hellbent on killing her. Trudy embraces George and confesses her past and tells him she will be waiting for him.
Even though George was an accident the council agreed to keep him, and as per usual they locked him up for a few weeks until he can control his blood lust his motivation for controlling it as quickly as possible is Trudy. When three weeks pass and George gets out Trudy is gone. Trudy received a call from her brother that the wolves were on her trail so she reluctantly takes off. She has a eureka moment where she realizes that she is a hunter and she will not run away anymore and she goes back to George. But can a newly changed vampire help her fight a pack of werewolves.
No matter how many paranormal series that I pick up and read I'm forever amazed by the nuance that each author brings to her story. Ms. Royce's new work, Bite Mark fits this to a T. What I'm truly amazed by is the depth of world building and character development that is ever present in this story. Rogue vampires, politics, werewolves and a newbie vampire are here but there is a level of care and placement for each of these items into the story.
Our hero, George is such a character. I enjoyed the fact that he had patiently asked Trudy, the local bartender, out numerous times and refused to give up. And yet when he finally is granted his date he unfortunately can't go because he has been attacked and transformed into a new vampire. His perseverance and character is demonstrated in his actions to a woman that he truly cares for and doesn't want to harm.
Trudy has secrets of her own. She has been on the run from a pack of werewolves for a long time and refuses to settle down or stay in one place because they will eventually track her down.
The tension and chemistry between our main characters is exactly what I was looking for in an afternoon read. Well done, Ms. Royce.
Final Thoughts: Looking for a new series to seek your teeth into that allows you to escape for an afternoon's adventure than Rebecca Royce's new work will fit the bill.
Paranormal by Mistake Series is written by multiple authors.
Will you continue with the series: Yes
Will you read something by this author again: Yes
Fated Desire Publishing provided me with a copy of Bite Marks but nothing else was exchanged for my honest review.
Once again I disappear into a favorite of mine-paranormal because the possibilities are endless. In this novel I meet Trudy and George with it starts out as boy wants a date with girl who repeatedly refuses but then bam she says yes. Of course here come the twist or Murphy's law so to speak just wasn't gonna happen like he thought. This author then takes you behind the scenes on what will happen once you find yourself no longer quite human. Thinking also that his chances were shot now he will be surprised. Of course they must stop what changed it all for them because things have their order in this society and some are rebelling which isn't a good thing. The author also takes you with them on their path and you get to see how some mistakes can actually be for the greater good especially when love is part of that factor. Rules are followed in these certain society that George must learn. Delicious also when they finally do get to turn to each other. But also there is the bad relative that is not completely on the up and up either. No more running but facing the threats will have more change come in a big way again. Smashing good drama that gave me the reader something to bite too. It satisfied my thirst for what I was looking for in reading tremendously. Received a arc for a honest review.
After accidentally becoming a member of the Undead, George assumes any chance he might have had with Trudy died the same night he did but Trudy is more than she seems in this riveting paranormal romance.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense and romance. Trudy is a werewolf hunter on the run and while she knows she’ll have to leave she can’t help but stick around and help George survive. The reader can’t help but get caught up in their romance and despite their circumstances their desires burn hot and neither can deny the chemistry between them. The characters are strong, captivating and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.
The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and the well orchestrated suspense draws the reader into the story and ensures that they want to know the whole story. Excitement builds as Trudy’s past catches up with her and they both end up fighting for their lives and some surprises keep the reader’s guessing along with some interesting and different elements to spice things up.
I enjoyed this quick romance from beginning to end, although I thought it was too short.
This was a very unique paranormal romance and I really enjoyed it. George is a writer who is very attracted to Trudy, a local bartender. He finally convinces her to go out with him only to find himself having to cancel when he is accidentally transformed into a vampire. Because of his thirst for blood, he decides that he has to avoid her to save her. Trudy is not your average bartender, she is a werewolf hunter in hiding. Trudy is attracted to George and when he cancels their date, she is confused and disappointed.
The storyline of this book is unusual but its a good one. George was a "nerd" until he became a vampire, he now finds himself getting stronger and definitely more predator. Trudy liked George as a "nerd" but the new George is equally attractive. I loved the building of their relationship and found myself eagerly turning the pages to see where the author was taking me on this paranormal journey. This is an enjoyable read that I believe paranormal romance lovers will enjoy, especially if they are looking for a slightly different spin on a vampire tale.
George is a mystery writer with a major crush on Trudy, the local bartender. She has consistently turned him down but he is nothing if not persistent! But when she finally relents he fails to show for their date - in his defence he WAS attacked by vampires and now has an almighty bloodlust.
Trudy has been on the run from her past as a werewolf hunter. That life robber her of her family and she has vowed never to let them get to her or her brother. When she discovers why George dodged their date, she doesn't get squeamish over his new fangs or his diet. With the help of some of Georges new friends, she helps him temper his appetite. But when her past and Georges new (after)life get mixed together, will our new supernatural couple get pulled apart before they can start a new life together?
This is a short, quick read and not that complex, a perfect read for lunchtime or when you have a quiet hour. The characters are fun and witty and I'd read more in this series, should there be one.
I was lucky enough to receive an A.R.C. of this but that will not colour my review in any way.
George is a mystery writer and a bit of a geek. He is out on a stag night with his friends. Rather than ogle the strippers he is trying for the ninth time to get the bartender Trudy to go out with him. He is not a stalker just determined, he knows she is the only girl for him. Trudy is much more than a bartender and tat is why she keeps refusing George. She is a werewolf hunter and never knows when she will have to leave town fast. George knows nothing about the paranormals around him until one of the strippers attacks him.
This book is great fun, the way the characters deal with the changes in their lives is amusing. The sex scenes are hot and the fights exciting. The ¨world ¨it is set in makes me want to read a lot more of it. It all seems so believable. I do hope this is part of a series I want to follow the lives of the characters I have met so far.
Even when Trudy sounds oh so proper it's kinda hot and I'm not into women like that haha, "she ran her hands along the seam of his pants over his c***. He already felt hard, but it jumped at her touch. "I think your pen** isn't worried about the danger." We learn a very valuable lesson in this book when a vampire and his woman is getting down and dirty there is no way we should interrupt, "George reacted without though, shoving her behind him to cover her body and growling at Kaden. His fangs descended fast, and rational thought fled his mind. There was another male in the room. And the male had come closer to his woman. He needed to die." George he also has the best ideas, "let's have a fight as soon as we get up, and then we can have make up sex again." I really enjoyed watching George embrace his inner vampire it made this book super entertaining to read.
I was lucky enough to get an advanced readers copy of this book. I will admit I was skeptical because accidental vampire? Been there. But this is Rebecca Royce who looks at life from a very different angle and that holds true for this book as well. This is a fun, fast paced action adventure love story rolled into one quick read. I fell for George on the first page. How does a guy ask you out nine times and not be a total creep? George pulls it off. Trudy is a strong young woman with a haunted past. You have to love a girl who can kick butt. This is the first in what looks to be a fun new series that you will want to give a try.
What a fun quick read. I really wish it was longer though. A good start to a new series.
George and Trudy are fun characters and all sub characters fit in so well. Can't wait to read more about them. Seems everyone is a vampire and George had no clue until he became one.
This is fast paced and can easily be read. Flows perfectly till the end. Has some great suspense and romance and twist and turns to keep you wanting more.
Would easily read more in the series <3 Would love to know about there world.
Werewolve hunter by night, bartender by day is our female lead. She is on the run and not looking for love but feels drawn to George, the writer. I really enjoyed this novel, not near enough butt kicking action for me. Loved the ending with Trudy, I think it's fitting considering her experience with the paranormal. I had lots of giggles with the council meetings and their high and mighty doilies! Great job!
Let's begin by saying I've been a fan of Rebecca Royce for awhile now. She Never ceases to amaze me with her creativity. I really enjoyed reading Bite Marks. The book sucks you in from the first page. Great storyline with humour, adventure, passion, vampires and werewolves. You have to read Trudy and George's story! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
I was lucky to receive a ARC from the publisher, let me start by saying since page one the story sucks you in, the heroine Trudy and George have this bond that is felt throughout the whole book, my only complaint is that I want a lot more.
Geeky guy with a crush on a bartender turns into a stud muffin when he’s attacked and turned into vampire. The heroine is a former werewolf hunter who is on the run. Bite Marks is a sweet romance with great chemistry between the characters.
This is a short read that has hot sex, a hot vampire, and a female werewolf hunter on the run! The passion between them is only one reason to read this book! But be forewarned tissues maybe required!
