They say that dreams can come true, but as a Dreamwalker, Devlin had yet to experience anything but nightmares. Then again, the druid had been held by sadistic vampires and dark mages for twenty years, forced to do their bidding. Newly escaped, he stumbles upon a dreamrealm where he can’t resist a little werewolf.

Jamie just wants someone to call her own. She feels like she’s been waiting for an awfully long time, when a man who teases her memory begins to visit her while she’s dreaming. From the moment she feels his turmoil, she’s drawn in, wanting nothing more than to heal his broken soul.

Before Devlin can decide what to do, he has to make a trip to Edenton. His first goal is to make sure someone who can’t remember him is safe and happy. The little werewolf of his dreams happens to live there, and she’s even more irresistible in real life.

When you’ve been taught all your life to run, what will make you change? Can Jamie convince her mate to stay and fight? Will he risk everything to have what he needs? Or run to save them all?

I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.

I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.

I cannot say anything that hasn't been said a million times in my reviews when it comes to Brandy Rivers and her Others of Edenton Series. Without question my absolute favorite PNR series. Every character is a complex, intense, powerful entity and I cannot get enough of this world.

I say that every lead man in Brandy's books are my favorite, but Devlin actually is. I have never known a character who has been haunted as much as Devlin has. He is just reliving nightmare after nightmare. So when he heads to Edenton I was hoping for a instant love match. Anything that would help this amazing druid find a way to smile.

Jamie is beautiful. She is strong and she is perfect for Devlin. She is able to be his strength and teaches him that sometimes it pays to stand up to what you fear and fight for what you love. I love that this book made you feel like you were part of a family. Edenton knows how to take care of their own.

Brandy's Edenton world has had me completely immersed for over a year now. I feel like I have grown up with these amazing characters and every time she writes a new book, I feel like I found another reason to come back to visit. It really is like going back to your favorite small vacation town. It's familiar and wonderful and in the case of Edenton, always a new adventure around the corner.

I give this amazing book 5 lipsticks!

I find myself wondering if this may be the best book of the series (so far).
It is full of our favourite characters, progressing even further into their respective lives.
In this installment we meet Devlin, a Dream Walker, who has been a captive of the Dales for the last 20 years.
He is a great character & not surprisingly gels perfectly with our merry band.
He has connected with Jamie through her dreams & goes to Edenton to see her, but he also has another connection there too.
There were a few surprises in this story & a lot of truths were revealed.
I love this series & the characters & story lines just seem to get better & better.

Favorite Lines “Not all dreams are bad, even if they start that way. Sometimes dreams come true, and sometimes dreams bring you hope on even the bleakest days.”

“To feel your heart beat with mine. To know if what I feel is real, or just loneliness finally catching up with me.”

“Desire trumps doubt any day.”

“That’s no way to think. If, after all this time, I can still want to live, you can too. I managed to let go of my beautiful, sweet Moira. I can move on now, if I ever get out of this prison. You can as well.”

“I’m glad you broke me free, so we can make all your dreams come true.”

Whoa! This whole book was one OMG moment after another!
I have been waiting for Jamie's story and it was just as explosive as I knew it would be!
Devlin has been in a nightmare for most of his life. The Dales (sick twisted crazy others)
and DeMarco have been terrorizing Devlin and his family for all of his life. Devlin is a DreamWalker and one night he walks right into Jamie's dream. They have an instant epic connection. Will Devlin risk loving Jamie with these monsters chasing him?

As with all of Brandy L. Rivers books you find yourself almost in a trance while reading. I found myself in the world she created and feeling what the characters felt the anger, the happiness, the pain, the joy. It's amazing how easily I slip into this world.
There is a fabulous surprise in this book and I'm crossing my fingers we find out more about it soon!

Loved it! Oh yes! Loved it!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (MFHBR)

Key Plot Elements: paranormal romance; action/drama; lycanthropy and other fantasy elements; generous 18+ sexy content; based in the Pacific NW.

The fourth book in Brandy Rivers Others of Edenton series begins by taking you briefly back in time to better explain current-day drama. After decades of torture, Devlin feels he must carry on as his father had, running to avoid his considerable powers being used for evil. He’s a healer, not a fighter. Besides, no one would want to be subjected to the darkness he’s been immersed in for years, and that clings to him still.

Brandy’s paranormal world is complete, well-developed, and entirely believable. Dimensional and flawed, the residents of Edenton know friendship and love are the strongest power of all. While “Breaking Free” is fourth in the series, you could potentially pick this book up and understand the plot quite well, only missing a few of the references loyal readers will enjoy.

Brilliant pacing builds drama and romance in tandem to an entirely satisfying ending. Original characters with unique personalities cause this story to play out in your mind as though it was real. A wonderfully immersive read.

Each of Rivers’ books are better than the last. Breaking Free introduces some fun characters, and adds further dimension to ones we already know and love.

Devlin quickly steps into the lead as my favorite male character of the series, with the right balance of heart, toughness, and sensitivity. And Jamie, who I was neutral on before, showed some very rich dimension and vulnerability that made her entirely worth rooting for.

It’s also nice to see characters we know and love settle into lives that make them happy. Fallon and Brody are starting their marriage and life together. Liz has fallen into a comfortable rhythm with her two men, and Jess and Slater seem as if they’ve been together always.

As this series progresses, the depth grows and grows. There’s unlimited potential for our Others of Edenton!

I loved this book, as with all in this series it gets another 5 stars as they are really that good.

We get to meet Devlin, Fallon's older brother who is just fantastic but so different from herself. He's a Dreamwalker and comes to visit Jamie through her dreams.
He sets out to find her then meets his sister and a whole load of things happen, not to mention the return of the return of the Dales, who Fallen dispatched last time they appeared in Edenton.

Devlin and Jamie make a great couple and Devlin just fits in perfectly with the others of Edenton, and as always there's always a great battle scene as the Dales arrive as they try to take everyone down with them, who will win who will lose and will anybody be changed for the better!

I love this series and the world building that takes place as we move from one story to the next. Devlin is such a tortured soul, a kind and gentle healer who’s been imprisoned and emotionally tortured by truly evil creatures. In Jamie he has found his soul mate and she hers. Of course it wouldn’t be Edenton if all that evil didn’t follow him to town. Once again the “Others” that we’ve come to know and love band together to fight, with Fallon (my personal favorite) leading the way.

This story brings back some people long thought to be dead, and others that were supposed to be safely locked away (which goes to prove that the only good villain is a dead one, otherwise they keep coming back). Families are reunited and once again in the end the good guys win. I can’t wait until the next installment.

As a Dreamwalker, Devlin’s life has been a nightmare for too long, until he stumbles upon a dream realm where he can’t resist a little werewolf in this riveting paranormal romance. This paranormal community inspires friendship and loyalty as they accept new comers and past mistakes are forgiven to join together and fight to keep everyone safe. The action is full of magic, excitement and drama but remains believable and the charming Others of Edenton ensnare the readers ensuring that they are completely caught up in the story until they finish the last page and I for one can’t wait to read the next one.

Devlin has been held by the Dales for 20 years having to do terrible things to survive, but he is still honorable. What happens when he escapes? Devlin is a dreamwalker and his dreams lead him straight to Jamie, has she finally found her mate? Devlin finds more than he could wish for when he goes to Jamie, he finds family and friends! Will they be enough to stop the danger that is following Devlin? Will the past finally destroy Devlin's family? There is so much going on in this book, I loved it! I love how in each book you get some of everyone not just the main characters. Brandy Rivers has a way of drawing you in and you don't want the story to end! So excited to see what comes next!

First I'm going to say I love this series, the town of Edenton that this author has created amazes me. so many different people/others all living together to create a close knit community.
Devlin had a horrible past and felt like he should continue running to protect everyone, but Jamie made him want to stay. Finding his family was a plus. Together they can conquer anything, the passion in this book and all the others is panty melting yet done with class. If you haven't read this series you don't know what you're missing. I can't wait for the next one.

Love this latest installment of Others of Edenton. I've been patiently waiting for Jamie to find her man and this delivers. Being a fan of Edenton still didn't prepare me for the ride Brandy took me on. You definitely don't want to miss this one and catch up with favorites from previous books as well.

Breaking Free might be the fourth book in the ‘Others of Edenton’ series but there is no let up in the story, the action and the sexytimes. If you’re onto the fourth book, you’re obviously aware of the world of Edenton and its residents and boy are we in for a few surprises this time around because some skeletons are tumbling out of those closets.
In this book, it’s Jamies’ turn to find her mate…… in her dreams! Devlin is a Dreamwalker, a rare kind of supernatural and sought after by those who practice the darker magics. He has been held captive by one of the worst, most sadistic kinds of supernatural for over twenty years where he has been forced to use his magic for evil…. Until he escapes. Soon after his escape he enters Jamies’ dreams, he doesn’t know why it’s hers that enters and neither does Jamie, they just both know that their connection is deep. Devlin has never felt this way about anyone and for some reason feels drawn to use his freedom to seek out Jamie in Edenton, to hold her at least once….. and of course, Jamie will be more than willing. Devlin knows that no matter what he feels for Jamie, he simply cannot stay because evil is on his tail, they want him back and will not stop in their endeavour so his only option is to do what he’s done for most of his life – run! but there is more in Edenton for Devlin than Jamie, someone who has no memory of him… but he knows her and he loves her too making it a really hard decision to take his troubles to their doorstep but the temptation to be near Jamie is too strong. Jamie will not stand for finding her true love only for him to up and leave and when she finds out his ties to Edenton, the whole town will be behind him as they all stand together to banish evil once more.
I thought that Falling into Place was the best book in the series and it was but this book is not far behind it, infact action wise and progression of storyline wise – this tops it! I have not once been disappointed in any of the books in this series, they are easy to read, flow well and hit about every spot in what I like about this genre. Jamie has been a constant character since book one so we already have a sense of who she is and what she is about, she went through a couple of bad times and a break up with another character – Preston – her sister and friends always fear her taste in men because she has not got a good track record of choosing the right one, she has a heart of gold and she is just as powerful as others but chooses to downplay it. Devlin is very untrusting, most of his life has been spent on the run and the last 20 yrs or so have been spent in captivity where his magic has been used for evil under coercion, he thinks himself evil, he has no confidence in what he can do, who he is or that he is worthy of love; quite a pitiful character really but we get to see him grow under the right guidance and the love of a good woman. They made a great couple, Jamie was the perfect remedy to Devlins’ feelings & doubts and I loved how they started off, they smouldered together from the get go and you want them both to have this piece of happiness.
The storyline was awesome and was filled with lots of secrets and revelations; skeletons in the closet causing an avalanche here! It’s a bit hard to discuss the storyline with so much hinging on the secrets that are revealed so I’ll try and tease a little of it out…. I mentioned that Dev is connected to someone else in Edenton which is secret #1 but then who & what comes after Dev brings more secrets and for more than one character. I liked this storyline most because of the intertwining of the ‘secret’ threads, it involves & will affect multiple characters and will have a major impact on Edenton as a whole. I loved how everyone came together against a common enemy, banding together, willing to give their lives for each other, willing to help break others free & make things right. I have always felt the community of these characters but this made me have a sense of family between each and every one of them and it felt good. Yes we get a lot of Jamie & Devlin building a relationship, we also move forward in a couple of other relationships, seeing happiness for our much loved characters but on the flip side we see a real evil and how that can be used, how a good person can be used for evil and what that evil has planned for the future if not stopped. The action was amazing, the climax of the book was superb where everything and everyone came together for a final battle with full on action & fighting, magic being flung around like no ones business – it was awesome! And just the icing on the cake for this fantastic book and I loved it! It did kind of feel like a conclusion to the series but seeing as how I know there’s more to come – I’m a happy bunny =)

This is the forth book in the Others of Edenton series. I really enjoyed it!

Jamie is a wonderful character. I really liked her. She is a werewolf with the gift of empathy and can sense the emotions of those around her. She is also the sister of Jess, who is married to the Alpha of the Edenton pack, Slater. When she meets a stranger in a dream, she is instantly drawn to him and the emotions he invokes in her. Can she convince him to stand and fight, when danger threatens to tear them apart?

Devlin is also a wonderful character. Unfortunately, I didn't have an immediate connection with him, but as I got to know him better I found myself liking him. He is a druid with the ability to heal and visit peoples dreams. After escaping from being held captive by the Dales, he finds himself intrigued by the werewolf whose dream he'd walked into. Unable to resist visiting Edenton to see his long lost sister, as well as the werewolf of his dreams, he will have to find the courage to face the danger that follows him.

I have been wanting to continue reading this series for quite some time. I started reading this story and was quickly hooked. I found myself thrust back into the lives of those living in Edenton. The story is told mostly through the eyes of Devlin and Jamie, though other characters have a say too. This gave me the ability to see what they were thinking or feeling. It was wonderful to meet the residents of Edenton again, they felt like old friends. The characters themselves feel lifelike and likable, though I love to hate De Marco and Malachi. They are the evil vampires/shadowstalkers that forced Devlin to do their bidding.

I must admit that the time hop in the beginning of the book confused me at first, but as the story unfolded, it began to make more sense. Devlin has not had an easy life, having been on the run for most of it, along with his father, Declan. However, as the story progressed, I noticed a change in him. I love it when the characters evolve on the page; I also love flawed characters, they come alive on the page.

There's a lot of heat between the main protagonists and it fairly sizzles on the page. There is also a lot of action in this book, with a big fight scene near the end, as well as a huge emotional rollercoaster ride as secrets are revealed and lives are changed. I wasn't surprised about the identity of Devlin's sister though. I was, however, extremely disappointed to reach the end of the book. It felt like I'd only just started reading and then it finished! But, having said that, I raced through the pages as I was completely gripped by the story. Though, I did feel that this story was not as good as the previous book and the fight scene felt a little rushed. Nevertheless, I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Mending Scars, as soon as possible.

Brandy L. Rivers has written an entertaining paranormal romance series. I love her fast paced writing style, and the flow is wonderful. Her characters are lifelike and likable. With her ability to write in both the paranormal and contemporary romance genres, she is one of my go to authors when I'm in the mood for a sexy read.

Due to explicit scenes of a sexual nature, as well as use of bad language, I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 18. However, I do recommend this book if you love hot erotic paranormal romances full of sexy men and determined women. - Lynn Worton

Overall Rating: 4 Rockin’ ★★★★

Two parents with exceptional gifts are forced to separate and each takes one of their children to insure that survive. Staying together as a family would only pull the evil that pursued them to where they were hiding and allow them to be captured. The father, Declan would take their son Devlin and teach him how to use his gift as a Dreamwalker. The mother, Moria would take their daughter Fallon and help her learn to use powers with the help of a family friend, Gabriel. This is the only way even if it means never being together again as a family.

After years of constantly moving all over world, Devlin and his father are captured by the dark mages that serve DeMarco and Malachi. Devlin is a healer and not a fighter and is considered weak because of his nonviolent gifts. He is tortured and those around him are also so that he will do the darks bidding. His gifts are used in a twisted way by the ones holding him but they cannot destroy the goodness in his soul. He finally finds a way to hide his presents and escapes. After Devlin escapes he finds himself dreamwalking for the first time in twenty years and he meets Jamie in her dream. Devlin promises Jamie that he will find a way to come to her if only for a few days. Jamie and Devlin feel a connection that says that they may be mates. Devlin knows that he will be pursued and anyone around him will be in danger so he cannot stay long and take a chance of Jamie being used against him to make him do evil. Devlin also wants to see his sister Fallon who because of a blood oath does not know that she has a brother. They both live in the town of Edenton.

When the two meet it is impossible for them to deny that they belong together. Jamie begs Devlin to tell him everything and to stay with her in Edenton where he will be safe. She tells him that the others of Edenton have defeated the dark mages in the past and if they work together will be able to again. Dare he believe that this is possible? Will he be able to claim his mate and get to know his sister? Is his father still alive? Will they be able to track him to Edenton? How will the others of Edenton feel about him will they let him stay and be a part of their community?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Love truly conquers all in this story of fated mates and magic! At times the story is heart wrenching but the in the end good does overcome evil and love is the key that unlocks the doors to redemption for our hero.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I love the way Ms. Rivers writes and have read all the book that she has written. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Series Others of Seattle, Storm Mistress.

I received this book by the Author for an honest review.

I have loved this series from the beginning. The females are strong and fighters not the sit back and let then men do all the fighting and everything for them. NO they are right in the mix right beside their men fighting just as hard. The men are HOT and will fight anyone for who they love and consider theirs.

Jamie keeps seeing this man in her dreams. However, this is no ordinary dream or man for that matter because it feels real. Devlin has been through hell but he has to see Jamie in person not just in the dreams and he also needs to check on one other person to make sure they are doing well and are happy. I am shocked by the twist of who Devlin is checking up on and why. There is another well played twist to this story that I’m not going to tell you because it is too BIG and I was totally shocked when I read it.

Devlin was taken by the Dales and forced to use his power for evil. Now he believes he is evil and no one will trust him. However, when he gets to know the Others of Edenton he realizes he couldn’t be farther from the truth. The entire town gets behind him and supports him. They teach him to fight, show him how friends treat one another, and eventually accept him for him.

I am usually all for an Alpha male to jump in and take charge. However, I enjoyed Devlin and his soft unsure side. Don’t get me wrong when he needed to be tough and get things done he did, he may have needed a little extra push by our very own Preston but he got the job done. Once again the fight scene was full of nonstop action. Never knew what was going to happen, what was coming next, who was going down or how once things started going.

I had a hard time putting this book down. There were twists that had me saying no way, well played Brandy Rivers, moments that had me tearing up, and then there were the no don’t do it moments hanging on the edge of my seat waiting to see. Once again I will be waiting for the next one to come out I’m so addicted to this series.

Some of my Favorites:

“What are you?” There were tears in her eyes. “How are we standing in a dream yet it feels so real?” “I’m a Dreamwalker. You are my fate.”

He shook his head. “I feel out of place. Nothing I do is that spectacular.”
“That is not true, Dev. Your power is deeper, gentler, but no less profound. You bring life, protection, healing. Things I know Fallon and Liz are jealous of at times.”

“Having you in my arms chases my past away and give me hope.”
“I’ve never been with anyone who ever made me feel this beautiful, desired, or needed. You are the most romantic man I’ve ever met. I never thought I would love hearing such sweet words from anyone.”

“Pregnant, not handicapped, thank you very fucking much. I don’t need a babysitter.”

5 HUGE stars.

Sometimes a book guts you. Sometimes a book can even light that fire inside you that has you rooting for those characters like they are your best friends. This book does both and it manages to do it simultaneously.

Devlin and Jamie just want this HEA. They want life to just stop and let them be in love. But with the Dales changing Devlin and after Fallon, things blew up in this book. I felt like I was biting my nails page after page waiting for that bomb to drop.

Devlin wants to run. He wants to do everything he can to protect his mate, even if it means making the hard decisions. For Jamie this isn't even an option. She finally has him and she wont let him go.

I couldn't put this book down. I hate that it took me so long to read it. It was like coming home when I jumped back into the world of Edenton and its inhabitants. You get to see all of your favorites, and in true Brandy fashion you do so with excitements and chaos. Throw in those scenes that had me fanning myself and this book was exactly what I needed to fall back in love with this series.

The problems with the Dales and that fight has been building and it is finally time for it to come to an end. Or so we hope. Definite must read for any Paranormal fans!

Series: Others of Edenton #4
Category: Paranormal, Fantasy
Received from: Brandy L. Rivers (in exchange for an honest review)
Recommended for: 18+, adult situations
Grammar/editing: ungraded – book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused

This is the sixth book in this series, including two companions. They do need to be read in order.

Devlin is a different kind of Other. He is a healer, but he is also a dreamwalker. He can visit people in their dreams and it is as real as real. He had spent twenty years as a prisoner of the Dark Mages, forced to assist them in their evil machinations. Recently escaped, he has found a little werewolf of his dreams in his dreams. Jamie is surrounded by her friends and family finding their mates and she longs for her own. Could her dream man be real? Can he find her? If he does, will he stay when he believes that running will keep her safe?

I really felt for both Jamie and Devlin. Devlin may be nearly a hundred years old, but he’s been so sequestered that he’s naïve. He’s also as much of a dog as most guys – willing to spend one night with Jamie and then walk away (all in the name of keeping her safe). His kind heart has him believing that he is evil because of what he has been forced to do. Jamie wants every frilly-girl’s dream. That one guy who seals all of the cracks the others have left behind. Especially because she has seen her best friend and her sister find their perfect mates. I loved seeing them communicate with each other. Because of their mate bond, and her empathic nature, they are so open with one another. They share fears, hopes, dreams, and passions.

Because they were fated mates who accepted it so easily, I felt that the love story part of this book was somewhat lost. On the other hand, all great series will have a book or two that are ‘transitional,’ needed more for getting you from one side of the field to the other rather than for the sake of the story within that book. I’m okay with that. Ms. Rivers has captured my imagination with her Others in both Edenton and Seattle and I will keep coming back for more.

The latest entry in the ongoing saga of the Others of Edenton introduces us to Declan, Moira and their children, Devlin and Fallon (whom we met in In Too Deep). The prologue takes us back 71 years to when Declan and Moira meet before moving forward nine years to when they must part for their family's safety. Devlin and Fallon are separated to be raised by the parent best able to teach them to handle the talents each were born with.

Devlin is now on the run from the Dales and DeMarco, the dark mage that captured him and his father twenty years ago. Free of the dark wards, he starts dreaming of Jamie and eventually promises he will find her. Afraid of bringing the dark mage and Dales to Edenton, Devlin tells Jamie he can't stay for fear of what they will do to her.

Rivers has outdone herself with Breaking Free. With each new Others book, her characters gain more depth and complexity. The town of Edenton becomes more interesting and vibrant. New characters are introduced, saved, find strengths within themselves of which they were previously unaware. When Jamie finally convinces Devlin to tell her the whole of his history, he again has what was missing for years, the unconditional love he needed.

Once his relationship to Fallon is no longer a secret, everyone begins training to protect themselves, each other, and their town. Devlin, a healer and gentle soul at heart, is unable to find the warrior within until a few choice comments by Preston. (I love this part.)

All our favorite characters are back, both the good and not so good. Love, family and a looming battle that will decide much had me devouring this book at the first opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit to Edenton and look forward to my next trip. If you enjoy shape shifters, vampires, and other paranormal beings, a bit of light romance, you can't go wrong. Visit Edenton, you'll enjoy yourself.

But for two missed errors, I would have gladly given Rivers 5 stars. Unfortunately, I must adhere to the criteria I set forth for rating a book. Regretfully, I can only give her 4. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Brandy L Rivers' Others of Edenton series is fast becoming one of my favorite shifter series. Yes, her novels include magic, wolves, shape-shifters, and vampires but it is her ability to make the fantastic world her characters live in relatable that makes her one of my Must Read authors.

It's one thing to write something fantastic and keep everything in the realm of the mystical/magical - floating along without ever having your feet touch the ground. It takes another kind of talent to immerse your readers in that mystical/magical world but keep them tethered in "real world" at the same time.

When her characters find their mates it's not always sunshine and roses - in all honesty I don't think a single one of her characters has just happily settled into the role of mate without some instance of hesitation/resistance. This makes for a series made up of characters I want to get to know. If these men and women would just easily accept what life hands them, the stories would be over way too quickly and wouldn't be worth the time to read them.

The Others of Edenton series and its newest member Breaking Free is worth the time to read it - maybe even re-read it a few times. Rivers introduces her readers Devlin - a druid with the incredibly rare and unique ability to dreamwalk - just as he discovers the woman meant to be his other half. Jamie - werewolf, empath and twin sister to her alpha's mate - is torn between her mind and her heart when she literally comes across the man of her dreams.

With past lives and past deeds that just won't stop haunting them, Jamie and Devlin are thrown together as mates while being forced to fight for Devlin's freedom from his past. The pack members and friends within the town of Edenton find themselves banding together to continue their fight against the mysterious Dales.

Brandy Rivers keeps bringing my heart back to her lovely little town of Edenton and her characters make me want to never leave. This small town full of big hearts will make you want to come back again and again.
