Problem #3

The Problem with Falling

Rate this book
Willow Kingsley is everything I don’t need in my life.

She’s sunshine and chaos dressed in a flower crown. She’s a wildflower in a world I’ve spent years trying to keep simple and quiet. She talks too much, smiles too easily, and doesn’t understand the meaning of personal space. Worst of all, she’s staying in my house for the summer, turning my carefully guarded world upside down.

I know I should keep my distance. People like her don’t stay, and I’ve had my fill of being left behind. But the more time I spend with her, the harder it is to remember why I built these walls in the first place. She’s getting under my skin—into my heart—and making me want things I’ve spent years trying to avoid.

Falling for Willow would be a mistake. She’s a free bird, and I’m the anchor she’s desperate to escape. But every time she looks at me, I can’t help but What if she’s not the one who’s meant to fly? What if, this time, I'm meant to soar?

I couldn’t explain why she made me feel the way she had. It wasn’t even as if she made me feel a few things. No. She made me feel everything.

This series just gets better and better. I’ve loved all three books, but with each story, I fall in love a little more. Willow and Theo’s story was something special.

Willow is the youngest daughter, a free spirit, and a fun-loving girl. She travels the world and seems to love her life the way it is. But there is more to her than meets the eye. Theo has the biggest heart, but you wouldn’t know that at first. He is a grump and is closed off to most people, but once he lets someone in, you see his true colors. And they are beautiful.

Theo and Willow meet in an unconventional way. They are opposites, but perfect for one another. She breaks through his tough exterior, and he sees Willow for who she really is, not who she appears to be to everyone else. Of course we get some of Willow's sisters, even though the bulk of this story doesn’t take place in Honey Creek like the first two. And the MVP of the series, my favorite dad, Michael Kingsley.

This had the hard hitting emotions you expect from a B Cherry book, but was lighthearted at times, fun, and sweet. It made me smile huge, laugh, and even cry a few times. I loved that we had a secondary storyline with Theo’s grandparents. It made the story that much more special. The Problem with Falling is a standout five star read that I can see myself rereading over and over again. It brought me so much joy!

this was probably my favourite out of the three in the series!
the story was so wholesome, heartwarming, and emotional, yet also incredibly entertaining. it had me smiling, swooning, and literally kicking my feet, but there were also moments with so much depth that had me crying multiple times. definitely took me on a rollercoaster of emotions.

Willow was an absolute sweetheart and a walking ray of sunshine! Theo was the loveable grump, and I couldn’t help but have the biggest soft spot for him. they both went through such traumatic childhoods and I’m so happy they finally found each other and could be happy 🥹💞. and the family members of both main characters were just the BEST I adore them so much!!

tropes:
grumpy x sunshine
hates everyone but her
forced proximity (roommates)
small town
interracial romance
healing after grief/loss

I’m sad to see this series end, but I’m looking forward to whatever B Cherry comes up with next 🙌🏻

ok BCC is sooo back

The Problem with Falling is sweet story. I love it. Theo is such gentle giant. I never consider myself a outdoor fishing type of gal, but for Theo I would say I do.

I wish the banter can be more funny. I wish there is more drama. Overall this is a good book. Well done, Miss Cherry.

I am not ok! This book had me crying from the prologue! An emotional rollercoaster to say the least. I could not put this book down.

After meeting Willow in the 2 previous books in this series, I did not expect this much depth. The characters were so well written. Molly & Harry’s POV chapters were beautiful. I don’t normally enjoy multiple POVs and then you throw in a dual timeline, but this was done perfectly.

Brittainy Cherry is officially an auto buy author for me. But she owes me a new box of tissues.

Thank you Good Girls PR for this Advance Readers Copy ebook in exchange for my honest review

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone Book 3 of Problems series
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

Willow Kingsley was a free spirit, always chasing her next adventure. When an old friend invited her to spend the summer in her hometown with her grandson, Theo Langford, she leapt at the chance, unaware of how it would change both their lives.

This book made me run through a gamut of emotions from amusement to anger and heartbreak. Initially, I was unsure about the inclusion of a secondary storyline, but it ended up adding more heart and emotions to the story.

I was failing at this friendship thing, and it had only been a few weeks. But it seemed that when I decided to break down my walls with Willow, she came in like a wave and knocked me off my feet.

Willow and Theo might be completely different when it came to personality. But inside, both of them were broken and unfairly mistreated. I was glad they had good support systems to help them cope.

The Problem with Falling is a story of guilt and perseverance. It would appeal to readers who enjoy emotionally charged romance.

I loved Theo and Willows story and the ending to these sisters’ stories. Willow and Theo’s beginnings in life were heartbreaking, but watching them both breakthrough the walls was heartwarming.

sorry this is gonna be a long one. i have a lot of thoughts:

1. the writing of this book felt like when you’re writing an essay for school and you decide to add in fancy words randomly throughout to make it sound better, but it really just ends up sounding like you tried too hard. like there were so many flowery “inspirational” phrases used in just regular dialogue between the characters. who talks like that?? this author also does a lot of telling rather than showing so everything felt over explained.

2. if you wanna do dual pov, fine. but we absolutely did not need molly and harry’s pov on top of willow and theo’s. it almost felt like she couldn’t decide between dual pov or a dual timeline story so she went with both and gave us everyone’s pov. i don’t feel like it was necessary at all to the story. i also just feel like she was trying to fit too many things into this story. like this book would need to be 600 pages to fully go into everything she introduced to us, which kind of makes everything feel a little unfinished. theo’s mom just up and leaves? anna and willow are just magically friends again? no mention of anna’s evil mother? introduced us to the idea of jensen being theo’s son for what?? idk it just did not feel like these ideas were completely thought through.

3. oh my GOD. if i took a shot for every time the word “grump” or “grumpy” was written in this book, i would need my stomach pumped. truly. i get it’s a “grumpy/sunshine” trope but did we need to take that so literally??

there were some moments i enjoyed, but overall, the smut was off, the characters were annoying, the story was drawn out but also somehow felt incomplete. idk this book was just not for me. im giving it a 2.5 stars.

What to Expect:
- Small Town Romance
- Enemies to Lovers
- Forced Proximity
- Roommates to Lovers
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Interracial Romance
- Slow Burn

The Problem with Falling is a beautiful story! I can’t give it enough stars. I was emotional just reading the prologue. It’s rare for a story to give me everything I want in a romance, but this one did. Willow and Leo’s story had me laughing, crying, and absolutely giddy at times.

I’ve never seen a more perfect couple. Willow and Theo were made for each other. I loved the dynamics of their opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, slow-burn romance. Theo is a grump with a huge heart and so much love to give. Willow is a free spirit and empath who feels it all. Both have some trauma from their pasts that have heavily impacted their adult lives. I loved how these two helped each other heal.

In addition to following Willow and Theo’s journey, we also get to follow the love story of Theo’s grandparents, Harry and Molly. I can’t express how much I enjoyed witnessing their love throughout the years. Their story was so beautiful and is the type of love everyone should strive for.

This book truly is phenomenal. Will it make you cry? Yes! Is it worth it? Absolutely! I loved getting lost in Willow and Theo’s world.

Thanks to Brittainy Cherry and Good Girls PR for the gifted eARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

I was so excited for this third book of the series, so when I saw it drop onto my Kindle I was so dang excited. From what we saw and learned of Willow in the other two books, I just knew I would absolutely adore her story. Then in comes Theo and OH MY GOSH, what an absolutely grumpy sweetheart.

I quickly fell in love with both of the main characters, their stories, their hurts and their souls. I swear these two are real people. Brittainy is so good at making everything feel so real. My heart hurt for the both of them throughout the story, and somehow I found a way to relate to the both of them and their struggles. Through the story I absolutely loved watching their friendship grow and their walls slowly come down.

I've had a pretty tough week, and I bawled my eyes out during so many parts of this book. So make sure you have your tissues handy! It'll hit ya when you least expect it. That's something I love about Brittainy and her writing. She has a way of getting me so involved and sucked into her worlds, it's like I'm watching the movie unfold right in front of my eyes.

Oh, and the ending?! The ABSOLUTE BEST. I am not one for epilogues, but holy smokes, this one really was quite literally perfection.

I am not quite sure how Brittainy makes me laugh, swoon, cry, and heal.. in EVERY single book she writes, but I swear, she NEVER lets me down.

Highly recommend this book if you want to feel all of the emotions & heal pieces of your soul.

*And THE COVER, by the way? SO DAMN CUTE I NEED IT RIGHT NOW!*

-Also would like to note that every single book in this series truly awed me and was FIVE STARS, highly hiiighly recommend to any romance lover!

There are a lot of sad events in this book and a lot of events that are shared with a lot of the main characters so be prepared for a hard hitting emotional book. (But isn't that all Brittainy Cherry's books?)

I don't know how I really feel about Theo and Willow. I loved that they helped each other sort out their feelings and hardships...and of course, the fishing! However, I'm not sure I got all the romance except at the end. I think too much of that was off page.

And maybe because we get some short chapters from Theo's grandparents, Molly and Harry. Again, I'm not sure how I felt about this. I like all the similarities between them and Theo/Willow but it was also a little distracting from Theo/Willow. Idk.

What was really nice was the wrap up with all the sisters and their families. And the epilogues really enforced that.

"I promise you, when your last day comes on this earth, you'll never think, 'Wow, I should've loved a little less.' So go ahead and love a little more."

When an author can grab me in the prologue and already make me feel, then I know I'm going to be in for a ride.

Willow is the youngest of the Kingsley sisters and we've known her as the free-spirited woman that travels around in her bus, Big Bird. She is lively and little miss social butterfly. Pure joy and happiness. When she decides to visit her much older friend, Molly, she is set up to stay with their grandson, Theo. Theo is the complete opposite of Willow. Closed off, quiet, and anti-social, but also with the biggest heart that not everyone gets to see. Both Willow and Theo have their challenges and things they hold close to the heart, but what happens when they slowly start to reveal their real selves to each other?

I absolutely loved the slow burn relationship that developed between Willow and Theo over time. They had some fun moments, some frustrating moments and moments that were wrought with tension and anger, but within all those emotions they broke themselves free of truths that chained themselves down. I liked seeing them break through those barriers and really see one another. They might've seemed like total opposites, but they needed that to balance each other out. They just seemed real and completely relatable, flaws and all.

But this wasn't only Theo and Willow's journey. What made this story even more special was the fact that Cherry blended their relationship in with Molly and Harry's, Theo's grandparents (and Willow's friend). We got to see their great love that they had in the present, but we also got to experience their past which was simply beautiful. Add in Theo's cousin and nephew along with the Kingsley family and we had a story that had a little bit of everything. From aspects that made you smile and laugh, to parts that were traumatic and beauty within the quiet, you had one emotional and beautifully written story.

The Problem with Falling was a great ending to the Kingsley sisters series (all standalones). I laughed. I smiled. I shook my head in frustration. I teared up. But I absolutely loved seeing the growth of each character in each story. Willow and Theo surprised me in the best way. I loved watching them confront parts of their pasts and watching their love flourish. And Ms Cherry...that bonus chapter? You have My heart.

"And when you get tired, or when the world gets too big and feels overwhelming-I'll be right here. No matter how far you fly, I'll always be a safe place for you to land."

DNF at 81%.

Brittainy has written some very good books. Alas, for me, this isn’t one of them. It was good but towards the end when I gave up, I just couldn’t take anymore of her wallowing, and to me, overindulging in overinflated sense of guilt. In addition, there were plot points that took me out of the book.

Theo is our hero. When he was 12 his mother flipped out on him, telling him she hated him, she never wanted him, she wished she’d had an abortion and on and on. She then dropped him off at her parents and left town. This much vitriol from a mother made me uncomfortable. Theo was a very sensitive boy and took the rejection very hard, as he should have and as a result grew up quiet and bullied with no real friends.

Willow, our heroine is about as opposite as possible. She is the very definition of sunshine. She’s a world traveller and makes friends wherever she goes. Currently she’s stopping in Theo’s home town to visit with his beloved grandmother but because theirs is such a small house, Willow will be staying with Theo. Of course you can see what’s going to happen.

Some of this issues I had. There were storylines just dropped. It’s mentioned she will be helping out at the family owned restaurant that is owned by the grandparents, then nothing. Supposedly Theo now runs the restaurant but there’s barely a mention of it. On the other hand we hear constantly he loves to fish. We met his mother when she decimated him. Supposedly his grandparents had two daughters, Theo has an over the top evil cousin, but not once is his aunt mentioned. That struck me as peculiar. What happened to her. At one point towards the end, Theo drives Willow home, five hours away and plans to stay for a couple of days. But what about the restaurant? Did he arrange to have someone take over for a couple of days? We don’t know. Another thing that bothered me is the fact her besties mother was beyond cruel, to the point of evil to the two girls. She changed the trajectory of Willow’s life. But I don’t think there were any repercussions. I really don’t like when evil isn’t punished, don’t like it at all.

There are a few chapters told from either the grandfathers or grandmothers POV. For me they didn’t really add anything. I rather would have learned more about Theo.
I really liked his character but at times Willow is a tad too sunshiny at times.
So overall, this book was kind of a disappointment.

When I read about Willow, I was shocked. It was as if I were looking at my reflection in a mirror. There were so many similarities in our personalities I could have been the inspiration for this book . It made me feel seen in so many ways. This book ripped my heart out and put it back together again. Brittany Cherry has such a way with words. I’m sad to see this series end and can’t wait to see what else she comes up with.
