Privacy Code

Rate this book
From Book 1: Everyone has secrets. No one has secrets like Watts.

Catherine Kolb has found the perfect diversion from her life of nearly complete seclusion: a virtually anonymous correspondence with a man she knows only as “Watts.”

Intelligent, mysterious, and with an insatiable appetite for sex, he begins to draw Catherine out of her closely guarded world, tempting her with his words—some explicit, some simply enticing…

“You should indulge your curiosities, especially the forbidden ones.”

Watts insists on privacy. He has no choice. In the wrong hands, his secrets could get people killed. Including Catherine.

Common sense says they should never meet, but curiosity and lust prove stronger than reason and caution. A planned one-time encounter sets into motion a series of events that bring Catherine and Watts to the edge of ecstasy and the brink of peril.

Two very private people. One risky night. A shot at love and redemption.

Due to mature themes, this book is recommended for readers 18+.

★★★★! Privacy Code, part 1 of 3. Two pen pals with pasts decide to meet for one night of passion only to want more!

Eight words to describe Watts: Charming, witty, secretive, commanding, elusive, broken, fearless and non-committal .

Seven to describe Catherine Marie Kolb: Lonely, sweet, timid, withdrawn, organized, broken and endearing.

Privacy Code is driven by Watts’ secrets and true identity. It’s a suspenseful, sexy and quick read with ups and downs as we get to know Watts and Catherine. The book ends rather abruptly, but no worries, just jump to part 2, Illicit Contact for the continuation of their story.

Entertaining plot! Complex, secretive and commanding hero! Compelling heroine! Steamy sex scenes!

"You should always give in to your curiosities, especially the forbidden ones."

Book one in the Shatterproof series by Jordan Burke is an exciting mix of romance and mystery that made me want to read the entire novella in one sitting. Quite honestly, I went in to this series with very few expectations, mostly because I had never read anything by this author and I had no idea what to expect. But I have to say that Jordan Burke managed to very pleasantly surprise me with her engaging writing style and original story-telling.

Catherine and Watts met each other through an online dating site and have been emailing each other for the past six months. Most of their conversations were about mutual interests, books being their biggest point of interest, but along the way their mails have become more and more intimate. Watts is clearly an experienced guy who loves to share his escapades and sexual fantasies, who in turn become a great source of inspiration for Catherines own imagination.

They both want to meet in each in real life but Watts's strict privacy code would prevent them to ever meet for a second time. He never does repeat-performances. It would be one time only and afterwards their might never be any contact between them ever again. Still, they're both desperate to find out if their attraction is as real in real life as it is through words, and they say life is all about taking chances so...

"Every day you don't change direction is a wasted opportunity to turn it all around, and another step closer to the day when you would wish you had taken more chances."

In order not to spoil anything, I won't elaborate much further on the storyline but I will say that the first part of this series is an intriguing mix of suspense and romance that made me want to dive in to book two right away!

I was given a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Jordan Burke pulls out all the stops for this sinfully sexy read!

We start off the story and it gets interesting fast. These two have been chatting back and forth via email from a dating site and they have wanted to keep it strictly online. Watts has many secrets he doesn't want to drag anyone into or get attached. But he cannot help the way he feels for Catherine. And Catherine no longer is happy with the direction things are going. She wants one night with Watts. This is all he offers, one night. They meet up for one hot night and both realize there is more there than just one night. Catherine is intrigued with Watts. He is very mysterious and closed off. Watts has many secrets buried deep and has no intention of letting Catherine in. But will he be able to stop her from finding out the truth about him and what he does for a living? will these two be able to have a future?
You will have to read to see!

Let me tell you this series IS HOT HOT HOT! Watts BRINGS it unlike no other and there is suspense, mystery and a whole lot of angst. You will not want to miss out on this amazing series.

Catherine is a bit of a recluse. Never venturing too far outside of her comfort, never allowing anyone close enough. Those that you let in can leave you... and she knows about being alone. So when she begins an online relationship with a stranger she meets on a dating website, it becomes the perfect solution to her problem. A connection, friendship and comfort without having to venture past the screen of her phone or computer. But Watts may just be far more private of a person that Catherine.

Watts. Well let's just say that Watts is sort of a mystery. His career path requires detachment, no relationships, no connections to those that can get caught in the cross hairs. Enjoying the company of women for one night and then moving along. But there was something different about Catherine from the start that caught his attention and now after six months of chatting - he's willing to break his code.

------------------

This was an utterly fantastic little read. The right mix of suspense and sexy-time. I was left completely intrigued by the mystery that surrounds Watts - there are hints at what he is, but yet nothing clear enough to really to know for certain. I loved how Ms. Burke tiptoed around this the entire time. Completely teasing us with her words.

And then BAM. One night that starts off with fireworks. These two were completely combustible together and the scenes were well put together and for some reason, although I was enjoying the heat of these two - the plot and story of this book is where it's at. Bravo. Can't wait to see where this story is going to go and I have no doubt that beyond the heat being turned up, some suspense is going to ensure we're on the edge of our seats.

Interesting premise. "Pen pals" dare to meet. One, a quiet, introvert-loner; the other, a quiet, introvert-loner and possible spy....

A sexy short read, with interesting characters and a nice set up for a bit of intrigue and romance. Nice.

I freaking love the Shatterproof series.

I am going to try to concentrate on just book one and not squeal away any spoilers about the other two cuz the whole set together is AMAZING.

Watts and Catherine have a purely virtual relationship to start out with. They met on a dating site and both were intrigued by the other, leading to communication via emails, which satisfied both of them for quite awhile.

Watts has an occupation, we’ll call it that, that keeps him from making attachments, hence the privacy code. Catherine had a beginning in life that leads her to keeping to herself, not trusting people, not making friendships or having relationships.

These two are hot together.

Very hot.

There is more than there just lust there, there is a connection between the two that keeps drawing them to each other.

I don’t want to go into too much more because I don’t do spoilers, so I will just say, I loved this book, I loved the whole series and my reviews for the other two books will be coming shortly as they are released. If you love romantica, books that have a lot of hot and spicy with a great story line, pick this up. You will not regret it.

Thank you so much for my copy of Privacy Code!

A dating site, an intriguing first approach, the beginning of an impossible relationship?

Right from the start the aura of mystery, secrets, and erotic emails will hook into a story like no other. The emails between Catherine and Watts are incredible. For a shy, self retrained girl like Catherine, the anonymity the Internet provides is her shield. For Watts, Catherine's intelligence is so attractive, it encourages him to let loose and pour his thoughts and fantasies into his correspondence.

Who is Watts? Is that his real name? What is his life like? Why would it put Catherine in danger to meet him? Inquiring minds want to know!

Remarkably well written, these characters come alive on the page to involve the reader in the mystery that surrounds them. This is book #1 of the trilogy. Although there is no cliffhanger, you will be hungry for more after reading this first installment.

I love mysteries and thrillers! Now, throw in some erotic romance, and you have me panting for more...

You should always give in to your curiosities, especially the forbidden ones.

Private Code is the first book in Jordan Burke Shatterproof series.

Catherine and Watts met each other through an online dating site. They talk to each other for six months, but they never met because is safe for both of them. Watts has a private code, he has secrets and he doesn’t want to drag anyone into or get attached. He has one rule – one single “date”, no repeat performances. They drown to each other from the start, even if Watts wants to resist temptation ..

This short read has it all – mysteries and secrets, erotic emails and steamy sex scenes. With an intriguing storyline and plot and enough characters development this was pretty good for a short read!

Privacy Code (Shatterproof #1) by Jordan Burke

5 of 5 Stars

Privacy Code had me intrigued from the very first page. Such a mysterious air surrounds the emails exchanged between Watts and Catherine. After coming into contact with one another on a dating website, they began a six month relationship of sorts that existed only through emails. It was made clear from the beginning that their relationship could only exist in the virtual world because of the rule that Watts made for himself- one time only. No strings. No continuation. Period. I certainly don't blame Catherine for her curiosity to meet Watts or for her request to do so.

Their meeting was intense, hot as hell, panty soaking, and also cut very short by the same curiosity that initially brought them to their physical meeting. After six excruciating days of no contact and agony on both parts, Watts reaches out to Catherine and requests another meeting. Seeing this as her chance to possibly get some answers, Catherine agrees to meet with him. I agree with her eagerness 100%!!

Like a moth to a flame, we can't ignore the draw that we feel to Watts, even though we get a glimpse into his life and know, without a shadow of a doubt, that his true life is less than honorable and filled with deceit on all parts. Can Catherine handle the truth if and when she discovers the true nature of Watts and his profession? I certainly hope so because the chemistry between these two is totally undeniable and is enough to make anyone jealous of the way that they click, mentally and physically.

And his looks..... *sigh* Talk about tall, dark, and handsome.... I think it's safe to say that he is the type to make your mouth go dry and water all at the same time. I honestly didn't know that was possible but I am now well aware that it is entirely possible!! Time for me to go dive back into the world of Watts and Catherine!!!

5 HOT stars!!

“No words. I need you naked right now. Let’s go”…

WOW!!! Privacy Code was a little out of my norm, but I like to mix it up every once in a while and this one did it. I gotta admit that when it started, I was thinking this one wasn’t going to wow me. Dating site romances usually don’t do it for me. But, this one DID! Actually, I LOVED it!! Mystery and sex…hell yeah!

“So far, this may sound like the work of some Internet perv, getting off on sending me dirty emails, but I assure you that’s not what it is.”

Catherine is intentionally living a life of seclusion, due to her traumatic past. And “Watts” has LOTS of secrets that led him to a life without a relationship. So, their 6 month online email relationship works well for both of them…until!!! Catherine gets curious, and a supposed one time night of fun is set up, and turns into more. This story is full of smokin’ HOT sex scenes!! The name “Watts” sounds kinda boring, don’t ya think?!? He’s not even close to boring! And it is killing me to know more about him. I feel like there are so many layers to the mysterious “Watts,” which means I will be picking up the next book almost immediately after finishing this review :)And Catherine, at first I wasn’t sure about her. She seemed very odd, and yeah, a life of mostly seclusion is odd! But the woman comes out of her shell quite easily and I enjoyed her just as much as “Watts.”

“It was as if Watts somehow knew I had it in me even before I did, and he was its only master, capable of turning that aspect of my being on and off at his will.”

Jordan Burke has written an excellent debut story that entertained me with a great mix of mystery, emotion, and hot sex. Put it at the top of your to read list!!!

I loved this book. It is book one of a three book serial series to be released one week apart over a three week span. This book has mystery, suspense, twists, turns, and some steam that would make your e-reader get hot!

Catherine is socially withdrawn. After a terrible childhood, she protects herself by never getting into relationships and not having any friends. She works in the mail sorting center at the FBI and volunteers weekly at a no kill animal shelter. The only thing she does have is a mysterious internet/e-mail relationship with a guy who is named Watts. She doesn't know anything about him other than that one name.

Watts is the owner of a rare bookstore where he buys and sells books. He has a privacy code rule with women- one night and you will never see him again. He does it to protect them and himself. He does have another job that involves some type of surveillance but we really get no other clues than that. The one constant in his life is the mysterious Catherine.

When Catherine tells Watts she wants to meet him and have one night with him, he tells her ok but it will never be more than that and he may never talk to her again. He leaves the decision to Catherine. When they ultimately decide to meet, Catherine decides to ask him questions and he leaves. When Watts realizes Catherine gets under his skin and won't leave, he decides to pursue her. After a wild night of passion, can they have more?

Who is Watts? What does he do for a living? Why did he walk out on Catherine when she asked him his name? Will he break his privacy code rule for Catherine?

I can't wait for book two in this serial series! I am loving the mystery around Watts but I really want some answers!

3 UNSURE STARS ★★★

Hmmm I picked up this book because the synopsis intrigued me and it has the vibe of some dangerous romance wrapped up in a some super secretive, operative mission of some sort. Well, I think I may be partially right but the book seemed to have fall flat a bit on my initial expectations.

"You should always give in to your curiosities, especially the forbidden ones."

The story rolls out on two POV's - Catherine and Watts. Both of them have never met each other and they communicated through email for over 6 months. Through their exchange of emails, Watts insist on his privacy rule: no personal questions asked. The only thing he does share is his name known as Watts and he does sales for a living. He meets Catherine through a dating site who shares his love of books with her. Their friendship kicks off & soon involves some erotic emails. Also Watts mentioned that he never commits in a relationship & only do one night stands.

Okay, where have I heard that before?

Maybe it's still too early in the book to learn where the story is heading to but I just didn't feel much throughout the book. I was waiting for something to happen, but it was just moving at this constant pace. I didn't feel the connection with the characters and for two very mysterious people who obviously have some hidden secrets & pasts, it seriously didn't feel like it was building up to anything big.

With that being said, hopefully the next 2 books will redeem itself.

Definitely an AMAZING debut novel!! I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book!!! Omg let me tell you it didn't disappoint!!! if you want a sexy romance with sooo much intrigue unlike any other . . . . this is your book! plus it's definitely a steal for the price!!

Two people each having their own issues to overcome start talking online. They set strict boundaries a privacy code only talking through emails only to break it. Give into the connection they are forming. Watts strictly sets more boundaries. yep you read that right sets boundaries. Definitely becoming an continuous occurrence. who wouldn't be intrigued to meet him!! Omg I want to meet a man like him!! sorry hubby =)

Not going to ruin anything for you but this book is HOT, dark, edgy, full of intrigue, suspense, angst, romance, and definitely a great start into an AMAZING series!!!

DEFINITELY can't wait for book two!!! =)

What a value!
This is a great series at a super reasonable price, I was thrilled to find it and it most certainly didn't disappoint. It had all of the elements for a fabulous read: mystery, suspense, romance, and angst in all the right doses that blended together into a well gelled read. I immediately went and bought the rest of the series and for under $5.00 ended up with the complete set.
I would have no problem recommending this to friends and fellow goodreads friends.
If you are looking for a good new adult read on a budget, this is a for sure hit, at least it most certainly was for me.

I realized before starting this book that it would be a fairly short read and possibly have a cliffer. While I did finish it pretty quickly, there was enough of the first part of the plot resolved at the end to where the reader doesn't feel completely abandoned. Now that the important part is out of the way...

What I liked

This was a pretty impressive read! This series is the only work of Jordan Burke that is listed on Amazon, so it's especially impressive if this is the author's first work. I was hooked on the first page of Privacy Code and finished within hours. Part of the intrigue is that it starts out with a couple of emails to and from the H/h. "Watts" and Christine had met a few months back on a dating site and the reader gets thrown right into the middle of their ever-progressing online relationship; juicy bits and all! I'm hooked any time a book starts out with some smart conversation, humor, and sexy banter.

To describe the genre is a bit more difficult. Overall it is a contemporary romance. But the plot of book one is focused on Watts and Christine getting to know each other through emails and eventually taking the plunge to meet up (slight spoiler there, but I'm sure you would have figured it out anyways!). However, a majority of Watts' true identity is kept secret throughout the book - for reasons yet to be uncovered (book 2). And from what little information you have about him you find that he has an...interesting...job. So there is a bit of mystery and suspense added that gives the whole nature of the book a different feel; strangers meeting, online conversations, secrecy, excitement.

Add in some some very sexy scenes and you've got yourself a pretty damn good book!

What I didn't like

For a book under 200 pages I felt that it was very well paced and covered a good chunk of a story. However, I've said this before and I'll say it again, I don't understand why the book was split into 3 parts and released 1 week apart from each other. Well, from an author standpoint I kind of do (hook the reader with a "glimpse" of the story and then have them buy the rest), but I wasn't able to invest myself enough into the characters the feel the immediate urge to buy the rest of the books. I think a little more background could have been included in this first book to really hook me. Too much of both character's information was kept hidden for books 2 and 3 and in the end I felt I could do without reading the others. At least for now.

Honestly, more than likely I will not go back to the rest of the books. I've already moved on to others. This series will escape my mind for a while and then the next time I might happen across them who knows what I'll decide.

Overall, I would recommend this for someone looking for a NA contemporary romance with a bit of a different feel compared to many others out there. You'll just have to pay ~$1.60 per book - and not feel too cheated after the first book to not want to buy the next books.

So I'm not really sure what to make of this book. It kind of ended abruptly and I think I would rather have read it as one book at one time instead of it being broken up into three books...

With that being said here is the short synopsis of this very short book....

Catherine and Watts first met on a dating website. They both have shady pasts (that we won't get to the bottom of in this book) which makes them drawn to each other. They have been email buddies for the last six months getting to know each other without getting to know the details of each other's lives. They were getting to know their likes and dislikes, even sharing some flirts and dirty emails, all without knowing where they live, what they do for a living and what Watt's real name is. Watt's only rule was that they keep that stuff private. He keeps eluding to that he lives a dangerous life and he only has one night stands to protect the women he meets. Catherine is someone who threatens all those rules.

Catherine asks to meet and against his better judgment he agrees. They met up at a hotel and right when things are getting hot and heavy, Catherine asks Watt's what his real name is. He stops in his tracks and tells her that this is against the rules and leaves her in the hotel room. Hurt and heartbroken, Catherine leaves and decides to not contact Watt again even though that is what she wants more than anything. Not knowing what to do, she actually opens up to her co-worker and for the first time starts to make a friend. Right before she is about to hang out with her new friend for the first time, she gets an email from Watt's basically asking her for a second chance. As soon as he sees her, he can't resist her. He tells her to get back in the car and take him home. Once there things progress rather quickly.

Things seem like they are going well for the two of them. They have a great night and both seem to let the other in a little bit. Watt even tells Catherine that his real name is Daniel. He also tells her that he is no good for her and we hear his inner voice talking about having to tell her the truth about him soon.

The that's basically how it ends. They never tell us anything further about Catherine's past. They never fill us in on what Watt's is all about and what his big secret is. It was just kinda like a piece of the story and the rest was missing. It felt anticlimactic and wish this story continued on.

I think 3.5 stars is a decent rating for this first book in the series. Catherine is an OK heroine but I'm totally sucked in by wanting to know all the secrets of Watts. I want to know who he really is, who he works for and why he does what he does. This book doesn't end so much with a cliff hanger but rather just leaves a bunch of unanswered questions that you want to know the answers to. A bit anticlimactic but also refreshing in a genre that feeds on those type of series.

Watts and Catherine have been email pen pals since finding each other on an online dating site 6 months ago. Finally curiosity has gotten the best of Catherine and she requests to meet Watts in person to "experience what all the other women get to experience" with him. Watts had made it very clear right from the outset of their "relationship" that they would never meet so he is taken by surprise at her request but admits he's also intrigued. So he agrees to one night with her. They meet at a swanky hotel bar and immediately make their way up to a room. As soon as their alone Watts is on Catherine but she ends up ruining the moment when she starts asking personal questions which go completely against Watts' privacy code. He leaves without fulfilling his promise to give her "the fucking of her lifetime." A week goes by without any correspondence between them when out of the blue Watts requests to see Catherine that night. He meets her at another hotel but decides upon seeing her to take her back to her place. Again as before he's on her as soon as the door closes to her apartment. They spend the night together and that's where the book leaves off.

We learn much more about Catherine on this book than we do about Watts. Although there is a brief snippet of what he does for a living shown and he is constantly making references to his alias, undercover doings and that he's not from here. He also talks about having a "trauma bond" with Catherine although we are not made aware exactly what the trauma is for either of them. Catherine briefly talks about being raised in foster care from birth to when she aged out at 18. She had a devastating illness and was deemed "un-adoptable". She never knew her parents and has closed herself off from people until Watts.

Spoilers!

What's it all about?
After six months of only online communication both Catherine and Watts are straining to see what their relationship is. Both are extremely private in their every day lives and with each other, but Watts a little more so. His one rule is one time only, and no more. Can Catherine handle this when she has clearly fallen so hard for a man that she doesn’t know if Watts is his first of last name?

The Best Parts:
I liked a lot about this book surprisingly enough. I stumbled upon it one day on Pinterest and thought that it looked good. It didn’t disappoint. The dynamic between Catherine and Watts is a strong one, when they are together or apart. I loved that we were able to see both sides as to what was going on. There wasn’t any moving too fast or slow, it was perfect. You were able to see both characters work out their differences and the hard ships with each other and their lives together and apart. The sexual content was very well written and gave off the emotions and feelings that a good sex scene should.

The Worst Parts:
There wasn’t a lot of things in this story that I didn’t like, but more so things I wish I would have read. When going back and forth between Watts and Catherine, we were able to see a lot about Catherine, but very little about Watts. I felt that we were put into the same position that Catherine was and trying to figure out exactly who Watts was. I felt that if we would have gotten more form his story in this first book we would understand more to why he was the way he was, otherwise I think the story would have been great as just a first person in only Catherine’s POV, as to create more of a surprise about Watts.

Final thoughts:
There is two other books to this series and I’m definitely going to be reading them. I am curious as to see what the end result to this relationship is. This is Jordan Burke’s first series of books, and I’m hoping for more along the way!

Privacy Code by Jordan Burke is a different kind of read. Very good, so different from other books in this genre. The mystery inside the story line made it impossible to stop reading. It is very well planned out. I am looking forward to more from this author.

6 months...that's all it took for a man to change Catherine's world and the crazy thing is she has never met him. The man she knows as "Watts" is her dream man but he only exists in emails they exchange back and forth to each other. Watts has a strict one and done rule with women and Catherine knows if she pushes her desire to meet him, one and done is all she may get. The more they correspond the more Catherine knows she has to meet him and once she comes face to face with him, there is no going back.

Watts has a dangerous life so he keeps his interactions with women to a one time meeting...it's for their safety and the way things have to be. But the more time he spends talking to Catherine, he knows she is different and if he is honest with himself, he knows she has been different from the start. Against his better judgement, he agrees to meet her and even though their first meeting is a disaster, he can't stay away.

Now, Catherine and Watts have to decide, are they ready to take the next step?

This was a really good book. It pulled me in right from the start and was a quick hot sexy read. Watts is a mystery of a character and up until the end of the book, the reader doesn't really know exactly what his story is. (Even by the end you still don't know much). Catherine has had a rough life resulting in her escaping into books and living her life in a cloud. Watts is just what she needs to shake things up.

My thoughts:

Quick hook or slow starter? 5 (I was hooked from the first chapter)
Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 4
Passion/Heat level: 4 (the emails exchanged between these two are hot and the sex scenes are great!)
Angst/Heartbreak: 4 (a lot of secrets result in a couple of angsty scenes)
Cliffhanger?: Yes, you are just starting to get to know Watts when it all ends. Next book is out though.

Overall, I liked this. Can't wait to see what is in store next for these two!!

I'm still not sure what to make of this book. It's book 1 of a 3 part series, a lot of it is setting the scene letting us get to know the characters although I felt that i still knew very little about Watts or Cathrine by the end of the book and because of that I felt no connection to either character.
Catherine is a very private closed person but when she befriends Watts on an on line dating site he introduces her to his world of hot one night stands which he tells her all about in his daily emails. They have rules which each have to keep - Privacy Code no details of jobs, where they live etc.
After 6 months of sexy emailing Catherine decides it's time to meet Watts, but his biggest rule is one night no repeats and no contact again, will Catherine risk her only friendship for one night of unforgettable sex ?
I feel this book could have been so good, but for me it was a slow burn I kept waiting for the WTF moment but it never came even the ending was a bit of a let down. Watt's character seemed to change to suddenly going from a man with so many secrets to wanting to tell Cathrine them all after one night !!!
I understand as it's part of a series not to give the story away but I felt it gave the reader very little to go on, having said all that I will read the subsequent 2 books hoping the story picks up.

Privacy Code is an amazing way to start an amazing book series!

I loved every second of it!

The mystery, the suspense, and oh my.........

that hotness...............

Privacy Code is out of this world and I'm pretty sure the whole Shatterproof series will be,as well..

Since it's a fairly new release, this review will not include any kind of spoiler and any kind of character analysis. Because you know what? This book will have your knickers in a twist and you HAVE TO read it on your own. The book is too perfect to spoil the fun for you..

But I can say that Jordan Burke has made an absolutely breathtaking debut and she;'s definitely an author we all have to watch out for.

Jordan is creative and smart and a good writer. She has created a unique story, a very original story that too damn attractive. The story is smart and mysterious, with romantic and sexy elements. The characters are brilliant and extremely well-developed..Well developed but not yet revealed to us, which is something remarkable. The writing is good, full and flawless.

Privacy Code has risen the standards for the rest of the series, but I think that every book of the series is excellent, because Privacy Code has such a quality that will irrevocably be tranfered to the sequels..That quality is called Jordan Burke.

How would you handle being completely alone in the world? It the main feeling I had when reading this first installment of The Shatterproof Series. Alone…

Catherine is completely and utterly alone in the world. She can’t even have a dog due to the size and lack of yard in her apartment. She has no parents being raised in foster care all her life. She got a job at 18 and has spent her life in mostly solitude. She goes out, to work or to the store. To the rescue shelter to visit “her” dog, Winnie. But she has no friends that should would consider a real friend. But she does have a internet friend….

Watts is up to something. He owns a bookstore but it’s real purpose is a front for something. Sadly I can tell you there won’t be any spoilers for that because I don’t know. It’s not revealed in this book what he does - but it takes careful precautions and he actually lives a pretty lonely life himself. His emails to Catherine are extremely important to him also.

I really enjoyed this first book and I anxiously await the next installment coming out in a few days. The story is amazing!!! I am in love with Catherine’s personality and I can’t wait for Watts to reveal more of himself. Trust is going to be a big deal with these two I can tell and I can’t wait to find out what happens. Definitely recommend. :)

The story line kept me interested and I'm currently reading the second book in this series. I use the word 'book' loosely because, in my opinion, a book consists of at least 300 pages. This book contains 175. This book is not standalone and you need to read books 2 and 3 in the series to know how the story concludes. The page count on books 2 and 3 are also on the lower side -176 and 218, respectively.

The writing is very good. I like the mystery behind the main character, Watts, and am enjoying finding out exactly what it is he is hiding from Catherine, and why he has to keep his secrets. Another thing I really like is that the story is told from both Watts' and Catherine's POV.

The series is definitely worth a read. The pace of the story is spot on. The sex scenes are written extremely well. An easy, fast and good read!

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the length of the books.
