When a high-powered CEO and a playboy billionaire get stranded in a snowstorm, sparks will fly…if they can make it through the night together! This sexy enovella from Jennifer Probst’s heartwarming Searching For series—originally published in the sizzling anthology Baby, It’s Cold Outside—depicts an encounter almost too hot to handle.
Successful and determined executive Riley Fox has everything a modern woman could want…except for the love of her life. But she didn’t get to the top of her field without setting stringent expectations, and when it comes to finding a partner, she’s leaving nothing up to chance. Until her car breaks down in a blizzard, trapping her with the one man she’s always loathed and secretly crushed on: wealthy womanizer Dylan McCray.
Tired of his reputation as a ladies’ man, Dylan longs for a serious relationship with the woman of his dreams. Countless casual dates and hook-ups have left him with no idea what that gut-clenching moment of rightness feels like…until he rescues the stunning woman who has always tempted his fantasies. Will these staunch opposites repel rather than attract, or will sunrise bring everlasting romance after a steamy night in the snowy mountains?

Searching for You is an adult contemporary romance short-story written by Jennifer Probst. I listened to the audio version as part of the romance anthology titled Baby, It's Cold Outside. It is also #2.5 in Ms. Probst's Searching For series. This was my first exposure to the series.
Unfortunately, I kept zoning out during Searching for You. I just couldn't stay engaged no matter how much I tried. Two people who used to know each other from their younger years get matched on a dating website. Romance spikes when they just so happen to get stranded together during a snowstorm at his mansion/castle. He's a billionaire btw...
Color me excited! I missed Searching for You when it was part of the Baby, It's Cold Outside anthology, but now it's releasing on its own…well, I had to have it. I mean, the Searching For series is one of my favorites, after all.
Riley Fox has been super successful professionally, and now, she wants the same for her personal life. Turning to Kinnections, the local match-making business, for help, she sets up her first date…only to get stranded in a snowstorm. With her enemy/crush, Dylan McCray, no less.
Having Riley land herself at his house with no means of escape wasn't what Dylan was expecting, but now she's there, he's going to work it to his advantage. After all, he been looking to curb his manwhore ways and settle down, but he's never felt the spark with anyone but his long-ago verbal sparring partner, Riley. They have one night together, trapped by the snow-bound mountains…can these two opposites attract, or will their spark start a fight and not a fire?
This was a quick, easy and incredibly sweet installment in the Searching For series. With just a brief cameo by the Kinnections crew, it focuses on two of their clients, and one hot night. And it's very, very hot. Hot enough to melt the snow that's keeping them indoors, me thinks. While I suspect a lot of people might be turned off by the instalove feel of this story—it's such a touchy subject for some—Ms. Probst did an excellent job of making Riley and Dylan’s connection feel genuine.
She built well on their backstory, and kept this quickie moving along at a good pace without clogging it down with needless backstory. I would have loved to see a little more of the main Searching For characters, and maybe a little extra to the ending to really round out the story, but all in all, this is a fine example of how to execute a playful, charming, engaging and romantic novella. And it's just cemented this series as one of my go-to’s. I'd love to see more of these types of Kinnections success stories in the future—and not just because I love this series so much I don't ever wanna see it end… ~ Beth, 4 stars
I don't know what it is about Jennifer Probst's writing, but it always just works for me.
This was a sweet story of falling in love with the guy you least expect, and even though this was a novella it absolutely worked here. Dylan and Riley are ready for the next part of their lives... connection with someone, a home... a family. Dylan knows deep down that when he meets the person he's meant to be with, he'll just know. Riley on the other hand is simply looking for a person to meet a set of requirements that will make a marriage work.
The ladies of Kinnections aren't sure their computer is right because on paper Dylan and Riley are complete opposites, but it says they are a perfect match.
The catch here is that Dylan and Riley went to school together and have some preconceived notions about each other... sometimes that line between love and hate is super thin though right?
Probst tells a sweet story of reconnection and love and it's a super quick but lovely read that you'll devour in just a couple hours.
If you're looking for some holiday spirit give this one a try!
3.75 stars A light and enjoyable enemies-to-lovers nouvella from JP. Riley and Dylan got on each other nerves in university, but now years later, both successful people in their world, they meet again as blind dates set up by a matchmaking agency.
At times I felt our heroine Riley's character was borderline caricature-like, she was the uptight one who actually had a box of characteristics she wanted for her husband to be and nothing outside of what she wanted was conceivable to her. But then she would surprise me like this:
"Let's finished what we started. Let me take you to bed." [...] "Why? I see a perfectly good table in front of you."
Dylan was the more unpredictable and interesting character for me, so I found his POV passages more exciting.
There were some touches of humour that really lifted the story, overall an enjoyable nouvella when you are in the mood for something light.
Hot read! "Riley was spit and vinegar, smart and sassy, and he wanted her. Under him. Over him. In his house, and his bed. Tonight." And "He loved the way she blinked with a heavy languor and stretched out, her glorious body free from covers and open to his gaze. She practically purred with satisfaction, and the fact he gave it to her made him feel like Rocky fucking Balboa." Like I said: HOT READ!
This is a Christmas novella that accompanied the rest of this series and while it was sexy and entertaining I didn’t get my money’s worth which is why I have rated it with 3 stars. It’s a pleasant Christmas reunion but you don’t have to read it to enjoy the other books in the series.
Riley Fox is ready to settle down and get married. She has joined her friend's Kinnections as their new customer and Kate has set her up on a blind date. She only knows his first name and she's on her way to meet him when a blizzard interferes. Next thing she knows, she's in Dylan's house. Dylan is the man she met in college and shared one hot kiss with. She knows he's nothing but danger to her plans. He doesn't fit in the box she has made up for the perfect man.
Dylan McCray has been a customer of Kinnections for about two years. He has tried to find the one, but all his dates end up without a second one. He might be a billionaire and has a womanizer reputation but, he has worked hard for what he has accomplished. Riley is the one he let go, but now he's mature and he knows she's the only one for him. He just needs to modify the "box" she has made up to include him.
I loved all Jennifer's books and this novella had everything I liked about her writing. It was sweet, romantic and endearing. A perfect snow day romance. Both characters were strong, determined and hot together. They have gained their success by hard work which was one more thing they had in common. They have thought about each other during the years apart and they are not going to waste any more time.
Originally read from Baby, It's Cold Outside anthology
It was a setup by their friends from Kinnections from the start. Stranded in a snowstorm billionaire and womanizer, Dylan McCray rescues the very independent Riley Fox from a snow storm leaving these two to spend time together. Baby, it’s cold, but this couple heats it up fairly quick.
I enjoyed this short story as well as the other books from the Searching For series though I wish it were a bit longer. Dylan was sexy and knew exactly how to satisfy Riley. 'Twas a hot read!
I absolutely love Jennifer Probst and the Searching Series. This short story is the perfect introduction to the whole Kinnections crew for those who haven't started the series. I highly recommend that you get on that right away! I really enjoyed Dylan and Riley's story for two reasons. First, it's a second chance romance and second it all takes place while they are stranded during a snow storm. These are my favorite types of Holiday romances and I was not disappointed in any way, shape or form.
"Everything. By the time I taste your pussy, you'll beg me to let you come against my tongue. And I'll demand it, Riley. Every last bit of it is mine."
*I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Cute, short, sexy read. I listened to the audio (in the Baby it’s cold outside collection) on Scribd. Narrator did a great job 😁 An enjoyable way to do the housework 😁
Lake Tahoe Was good to short. Riley and Dylan both rich, successful, determined and wanting to settle down. They’d joined a matchmaking group. They were matched 100%. They are to met at the skating rink. A big storm came in and Riley ran off the road in front of Dylan’s house. He brings her in and when she comes too…she says Not You!! They’d gone to college together and he was a playboy and she was Ms studies they mostly bickered at each other. One night they shared a kiss.it was mind blowing! Life changing. Now 10 yrs has passed, she wakes to this guy that drove her nuts. She still thinks he’s a player. Through dinner and talking the fire starts burning. They end up on the table…not eating. They go skating and end up sleeping together and all the warm fusses was in both. By morning Riley was ready to run. Dylan let her go, after 2 wks he went after her. Told her wh wanted a life with her and all the bickering.
Riley is an over-worked female who always reached for the sky because (according to her) no one really cared. And then there's Dylan, who never had to try hard because he excelled at everything. (or so she thought) classic case of cat and mouse. Now here we are years later and Riley is ready to have the whole shebang including the 2.5 kids.... all she needs is a robot! ( no, just kidding) she needs her perfect blind date? Seriously??? But as the book lords should have it, lol... these two are destined to be together. I like the chemistry that showed even after all these years. Exceptional.
This is a novella in the same world of the other "Searching for..." novels. Old college nemesis are both searching for love now that they have found business success. The Kinnections crew matches them, but their first blind date is complicated by a snow storm. They end up being snowed in together, and realize their long-term antagonism hid some explosive chemistry. He accepts the deeper connection first, and challenges her claim that he doesn't fit her list of ideal partner qualities. There are some hot times with a nice subtext of connection.
The one kiss they shared in college was so remarkable that Dylan and Riley always compared others to it. Now ten years later, they are both ready to settle down and turn to a matchmaking business to find their match. They are pretty much opposites of each other so how can they match? One night seems to answer that question if only Riley will let herself believe.
Four plus stars. This is the kind of novella I like, complete with a solid backstory and great forward movement in the relationship between Riley and Dylan. I love the humor and hot, hot, hot sexytimes in this book. Searching For You makes one believe that you'll know the one person who is right for you.
Starts of nicely. The first chapter should lay the foundation for the rest of the book. So this gets full marks for that just. Like ‘Searching for Beautiful’. I like books where the protagonists are enemies at the start. Helps with the angst and verbal sparring. I quite enjoyed this book. A little too short but good.
This was a sexy winter wonderland romance. The characters were funny, sexy, charming all rolled into one happy ending. The characters are opposite do attack story as they reunite during a snow storm and the magic of love opens their hearts. So get your book and get cozy.
