Phoenix Contract: Boxed Set

Rate this book
Centuries after the fallen angels left heaven to live among humans, their Nephilim descendants dwell in secret, hidden from the modern world. Once, a charismatic leader known as the Phoenix led their people, but he vanished centuries ago. The few surviving Great Houses are in decline, bickering over petty rivalries while a handful of faithful warriors battle to keep the forces of evil at bay.

Eighteen-year-old Aiden McLachlan devotes her life to her studies and pursues her lifelong goal to become a full-fledged Watcher. But everything she knows of her life is a lie and everyone a liar. Through a strange twist of fate, she finds herself caught up in an ancient prophecy.

The stars predict the rebirth of the Nephilim leader, but the mystery must be unraveled or the Phoenix cannot rise. With a soul-eating demon, a coven of ancient vampires, and a hardheaded Celtic warrior competing to subvert the Phoenix, Aiden doesn't know where to turn or who she can trust.

That was a debut novel?! That was phenomenal! You HAVE got to read this! There is so much in this series, I don't know where to start! Author Melissa Thomas has done an exceptional job in every aspect of writing this seris. From the plot line to the depth of her characters, I can't find any faults or inconsistencies and I loved it from from cover to cover. To say it's engaging and entertaining is an understatement in the least! A spell binding read that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Father Matthew took Aiden in as a toddler, knowing but keeping all the secrets surrounding her out of love, honor, duty and to protect Aiden until she was ready to embrace her destiny. Once the secrets are unveiled, can Father Matthew and Aiden's relationship survive the betrayal she feels she's been handed? Where does the mysterious Magnus fit into all this?

This story has a HEART and it beats with every word. Phoenix Contract is part of a captivating series. I love series, they're TV miniseries only in a book. They give you something to look forward to, and you get to know and love all the awesome characters. Yes, this story does have a cliffhanger but it is so worth the read...

Melissa has pushed the boundaries of imagination with this spellbinding story. With vivid descriptions of each character and scene she draws the reader into the fascinating world of the Phoenix Contract.

The story focuses on Aiden an audacious, courageous, 18 year old beauty, whose adopted father is Matthew a Priest, his best friend Magnus an immortal, a hunter of demons, and much more than that. Aiden learns that her father has lied to her about many things and has kept dark secrets from her. Aiden begins to have trust issues especially when it comes to Magnus. She must learn to follow her instincts to find the answers she needs.....

This story has so many impressive and engaging characters, the banter between Aiden and Magnus fabulous, the humor throughout wonderful, there is a crazy Soul Eater wreaking havoc, deadly vampires, ghouls, danger, life threatening incidents, dream visions, sorcery, endearing friendship, promises that are kept, a shocking truth, and a father's undying love.....

Incredible story/loved it; I really thought I was watching a movie instead of reading a book. I laughed, shed tears and cheered too. I truly can't wait for the next book in this series, as it was more than a gratifying read. (I was given an arc for an honest review). In the world of paranormal the possibilities are endless.. Without reservations, I highly recommend this boxed set, the author and the series.

Phoenix Contract: Boxed SetMelissa Thomas

I love this boxset, and will definitely be adding this author to my 'read more' list.

I originally bought this as the individual parts, which I wouldn't normally do because it makes things expensive and I hate cliff-hangers, but the blurb sounded so good I didn't want to miss it. I waited until I had all the parts and was about to start reading, when I was offered a copy of the boxset by the author in exchange for an honest review. I haven't actually read anything by this author before so I really had no idea what to expect from this set. And...It was Great. I love it. You should definitely read it for yourselves.

I don't want to give any spoilers, so by necessity this review will be short. Poor Aiden, she has already decided what she wants to do with her life, when everything is turned on it's head and she's floundering. She has no idea who to believe or who to trust and she must learn to trust her gut. This merry go round turned roller-coater of a story has every type of paranormal being you could possibly ask for and then some. I really enjoyed reading this story, it had so many wonderful characters to meet, but most of all, despite the teenage illusions of the main character being shattered, it made me laugh. I was completely lost to the real world for days. This boxset was a great read, and I will definitely be adding this author to my list.

This book was interesting to read. The introduction to the various characters was done very smoothly. Occasionally, I got lost in who was talking but I will not blame the author just a small case of ADD on my behalf. At time the main character Aiden seems to be in the shadows as so much information about her past and future has been kept from her. She seem to be a vacate, clueless individual that could not recognize her man crush was gay. Other times she cared deeply for the man that raised her. Betrayal will become the steadfast marker in her life. The story left me wandering about the relationship between her father and mother and why after her mother's death her father choose not to raise but traded her off to Father Matthew.

The father had a great many secrets he was hoarding and choose only to divulge a few before his death.

Magnus is another character I am not sure what he represents. He also has a lot of secrets.
For all the crossing back in forth from the future to the past I did enjoy even if it feels incomplete.

No cliffhangers but I feel there is more to be told about the Phoenix.

An Eclectic cast of characters, from Nephilim, a two thousand plus year Celt from a long thought dead house, a soul eater and a sword with an attitude! Aiden and Matthew (her adopted father/mentor/friend) are Nephilim that belong to an order fighting evil; they are attacked by Upyr led by an old friend of Matthew’s causing him to have a heart attack; they are saved by an even older friend of Matthew’s named Magnus (the Celt); but that is only the beginning what follows is the loss of friend after friend, through betrayal and attack. It becomes harder and harder to know who or what too trust as less and less is what it seems. Aiden finds herself fighting friend as well as foe to fulfill a destiny she neither understands nor knows how to take. A truly intriguing and heart pounding tale. Highly recommend it!! **Book received in exchange for an honest review**

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Melissa Thomas. This is parts 1-5 from the Fallen Angel Watchers series by the author.

Aiden McLachlan has devoted her life and studies to become a watcher. But as an ancient prophecy starts coming to life she is thrown into a battle or who to trust. Now she has to battle the evil forces who want to destroy everything she holds dear to her heart.

This story line and the characters is great and the author really knows how to grab hold of you in the first chapter and not let go.

This is a great read for any paranormal book readers.

i have the parts separately but was offered the boxed set for free for an honest review
i was in doubt here whether to give it a two start or three star rating, i went with three because the level of writing is very good.
the book is good and though i like the settings with the Nephilim i'm afraid the book really couldn't suck me into their world. of course this is just one, personal opinion. the reason for that is the first few chapters felt like a different book though you know they were connected and for me it's harder to get into a book once i have to struggle to find that connection with the story.

Everything is shroud in Lies and Mystery
This was an excellent book and very intriguing and unique storyline. Aiden is the main female character and finds out at the end of her adopted father (Matthew) life that most of what he told her was lies for her own sake. Also meeting Magnus is a friend of Father Matthew and has been his best friend for many years and yet it’s only near the end of his life that Aiden meets this mysterious stranger. Magic, demon, Vampires and ghouls as well as immortals all come to play in this book. Well written and entertaining to read
