Great start, charming main character, awesome first few scenes and then... What happened to this book? Really? I'm all for suspenseful and intriguing plot-lines with shady characters and smut and believe me this book has it all in abundance, but sadly something went terribly wrong in there.


First of all let's get a grip on what the story is about. Our heroine is Ivy, a young, vibrant woman who after a problematic past conquers all and restarts her life and Jacade who is a hot surgeon by day and something more sinister by night. Intrigued yet? But of course..


Well Ivy and Jacade have an explosive first meeting in an elevator and then she finds out that he is her new boss -short of. After that everything goes to hell. Nothing makes real sense, all is a blur, their connection, her 'family', their past and why Jacade is bend over backwards to make her his.


But let's put that away for a minute, the other problematic aspect of this book lays on the author's writing style and skills. I understand that it's her first endeavor so i will be more lenient but the truth is that even though she had great ideas she lost it somewhere. There were too many themes interjecting on the main plot-line, the narrative style was frustrating, the slutty and feminist inner voices gave me a big headache and the main two characters sounded the same at many points.


I really wanted to love this book, and until a point i did, but it didn't last that long before the big problems made their appearance. I still enjoyed the premise but it was over clattered and far fetched. Though the cliffhanger was interesting..



THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I really wanted to kill her inner voices.
- The shower scene was scorching hot, as was the elevator scene..
- The span of the story was too short.
- I didn't like that she got so wasted at the dinner.
- The characters lack consistency.
- The writing at some points is very immature.
- I liked ivy at the beginning, she was witty, sarcastic a little bohemian, but gradually she lost her spark.

Ok. I. Am. Impressed.

During the first 25% of the story, I wanted to quit reading. I mean this story was said to be Mafia related but it seemed to be about a very horny, desperate, woman (Ivy) with serious self-esteem issues. You know that saying...."Never judge a book by its cover"? Don't. Do. It. M.K. will have your mind so messed up you're thinking Ivy is this or that and then you discover this chick not only own Jacade but own the story as well!

Jacade, the gorgeous mobster who is also a plastic surgeon, saves Ivy in more ways than one! There is a lot of history between Jacade and Ivy that's only hinted in this installment. There's lots of Mafia drama and awesome sex so get ready for the ride!

The Mafia never disappoints. Jacade definitely doesn't! Revival is a good read and I definitely recommend this installment. Book 2 is available and I'm on it like......like.....peanut butter on a banana! All in baby!

Ivy Summers is returning to work and after a heated encounter she finds herself being caught in an erotic moment. Dr. Jacade Jordan has no problem with catching Ivy, it only solidifies his every thought about the stunning woman. Ivy is everything he could desire in a woman, but not everything is as smooth for the newly formed relationship between the two, secrets are about to be revealed.

Had one of the most erotic moments I have read in a book. While I am not a big fan of novellas, I was pleasantly surprised by the book. I felt I got a full story that was filled with surprising twists. Jacade...wowza, can I have him for Christmas?

Revival is my first book by M.K. Gilher. Wow, what debut for me. At first, I was told it was a mafia book and at the first 25% of the book, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a mafia book and not a woman with self esteem issues talking throughout. I decided to keep reading and I told myself that maybe it will get better. Boy, did it deliver. I was surprised at how I got into the book and I was just mesmerised by the story of the book. The story started to click.

Revival centers on Ivy a woman who encounters a man in the elevator. She has a hot encounter with him. She founds out her elevator man is the hot doctor Jacade who she works for. I mean I loved the plot of this story. A young woman meets a hot guy(yep he was hot to the point of making my lady bits sing lol) who she is attracted to and wants. Heck I wanted to be her lol. I was glued to the story and I wanted to find out more about this book. .

The writing was really good. I was truly encganted by it and loved every moment of it. The dialogue flowed effortlessly between characters. However, the writing did leave me a bit underwhelmed and I wanted more out of the story but it was really good. I may have to read book 2 understand.

The characters were amazing together and dud have awesome and off the charts chemistry. With Ivy, I feel there is still more to her story and I am intrigued to find out more. She had fun momentsv and parts that made laugh and enjoy. The thing that bugged me was her self esteem issues but I ignored it because I loved her character. Then there is Jacade. Sweet mother of pearl, I wpuld love to be in Ivy's shoes lol. Jacade was fine. Commanding, controlled, dangerous and hot, he was just oozing sexual appeal.

Overally Revival is book 1 in the Return to Us Trilogy and delivered on intrigue, danger and action. I can not wait to read book 2. I will remember never to judge a book by its cover.

I finished the book last night and have been thinking since how I would rate this book. It was well written and I liked the story. But I didn’t love it and there were some parts that annoyed me so I’ll go with 3.5 stars.

After chapter 2 I really thought I had the perfect book for me. I really liked Ivy and her thoughts. But it are those thoughts that also ruined it a little bit for me. In the beginning it is fun to read about the angels on her shoulder: ‘Slut Ivy’ and ‘Feminist Ivy’. But after a while I would have skipped those small parts if I would have been sure that I didn’t miss necessary parts of the story.

Examples:

Should I pull away from him? The Slut Ivy on my right shoulder rolls her eyes and says, Duh, no silly. Stay right where you are. The Feminist Ivy on my left shoulder is scowling at me. Just get your ass to work on time, woman. The truth is I couldn't move an inch even if I wanted to. Which I don't.

He's a player, obviously. Feminist Ivy gives me a look that says, Told ya! Now, get a goddamn grip and come sign this petition! Slut Ivy is sunbathing nude, totally oblivious to this new revelation.

I really liked Doctor J. Right from the start I saw McDreamy in front of me. I guess most of you know who I’m talking about? Yep, yummy Derek Shepherd aka Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy. Doctor J is a man with many talents. I would have liked a spanking scene in the book though! There are several times in the book he thinks about spanking Ivy but he never does…

I like to know what both characters think so I was glad the book was written with both POV’s.

There was a part that I couldn’t visualize?

I lean back against the mirrored back wall. I close my eyes and can still see the strobe lights streaming through my eyelids.

Just as I'm about to take another sip of water, I feel two rough hands slide around my hips and pull me backwards… into the mirror.

The book ends in a Cliffhanger and made me want to jump into the next one. There are 2 more books and the next one is expected In November 2015.

Holy Hell, this was a hot book. Dr. Jacade Jordan is pure sex on a stick, but boy does he have a lot of secrets! Ivy returns to work after taking a few months off to wallow after a break-up, but after her elevator encounter I think it's safe to say her wallowing days are over. Ivy and Jacade have a mysterious past that she isn't aware of or just doesn't remember, and while we get snippets of their past we don't have the full story yet, it will be reveled in the next two books Rectify & Remedy, I cannot wait to read them!

Wow! I definitely enjoyed reading Revival. This book is filled with a possessive dirty mouthed, Dr. Jacade J Jordan and Ivy is the woman he craves. He cannot stand her being in harm's way, yet he has to hide the truth from her. He has killed for her, saved her, yet the truth is dangerous.

There were a couple of scenes which were hot like the elevator, and the shower. I love how the story has been penned down. There was only one aspect that didn't settle with me: The inner voices. It kind of obstructed the flow of the story for me.

Jacade is the kind of guy whom you want to take risks with. You don't know what to expect next, but you certainly enjoy the thrill. Even the female character, Ivy was portrayed in a way that you grow to love her eventually and you just don't want the book to end.

I loved the book so much that I instantly one-clicked the sequel. That's the kind of read you want in your life. <3

I really enjoyed the book and characters. Jacade is any woman's dream. Ivy is sassy and beautiful. There is an undercurrent of violence that I was not expecting but it fits the storyline.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars was due to numerous grammatical errors. They could easily be corrected to make the story flow better for the reader.
This is the first book of a series and I look forward to the next book. There is a lot of humor in the dialog from Ivy that will make you smile and even giggle.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I had no clue what I was getting into when I began reading but by the end I was addicted to this story. I will warn you that it does leave you in a pretty intense cliff hanger, one that made me want to scream and beg for this not to end here. The writing style is smooth and descriptive, with great character development, making the reader feel they are right there in the story experiencing every emotion that flows throughout the book.

Ivy has no idea who her parents are; she was just very thankful that Bernie and Helen took her in and raised her to become the woman she is today. Going back to work after a few months off, she is dealing with scar on her body that we still don’t know much about, a failed engagement to a man that was up to no good, and still dealing with body image issues from her time before she lost a lot of weight. She is now working for her Uncle in his plastic surgery office and will come face to face with Dr. Jordan, a man who will turn her world upside down and expose her to more than lust and love; he will be saving her from the dark world of gangs.

Dr. Jacade Jordan is one of the sexiest alpha men I have read about in a long while. While control is on his priority list, I love how he knows what Ivy needs before she even does and his love and desire for her goes back years before she even knew he was alive. He has a dark past, secrets he is keeping from Ivy that we will more than likely find out as the series goes on. One thing for you can count on is he is a walking, talking sex God who is protective of those he loves and goes after whatever he wants.

This story is laced with suspense, passion, thrill and humor. Ivy is a strong woman who says what she thinks even when the timing isn’t right. She goes through life with her devil and angel on her shoulders named Slut Ivy, who tends to lead her into situations that leave her breathless and in trouble and Feminist Ivy who fights hard to keep Ivy independent, virtuous and on the right path. Needless to say Feminist Ivy rarely wins the debate when Dr. Jordan is involved.

There are a lot of secrets in this story that we haven’t uncovered and the history of Ivy’s uncle will play a huge part in the future. I was sucked into this story from the elevator scene at the beginning till the very end where I was left screaming for more. The twists and turns the author has created in this plot is amazing and leaves you thinking you can predict what is going to happen but more than likely you find you were totally wrong. It is an edge of the seat, change the panties often kind of story with two characters you can’t help but fall in love with. I have become a huge fan of this author and can hardly wait to read the rest of this series.

This is the first book of Ivy and Jacade's story. Ivy meets Jacade when she returns to her work after her leave of absence because of a bad breakup. Jacade is the other plastic surgeon in her uncle's practice. Sparks fly everywhere with these two, they definitely have hot chemistry and are drawn to each other. Ivy is a girl who didn't have an easy beggining in life and seems kind of lost to me. Jacade knows what he wants and he wants Ivy.
We have hints that they have know each other before, at least Jacade said so.
That's the thing: there's no real background and no clear ideas of ther past, I'm guessing because that's the main issue of this books but I would like to be in more solid ground about their origins. And this book leaves a lot a questions.
Like... why is a surgeon in shady bussiness? It just seems unreal to me, maybe if he was like a lawyer it would be more believable.
And I had a problem with Ivy's monologue. It made me remember to much of Ana's inner goddess, and with Ivy there were two: Slut Ivy and Feminist Ivy; it was distracting to read about it in sex scenes or intense/danger scenes, especially when those two Ivys interacted with each other (why?).
Also, this book gives us both of Ivy and Jacade's POV but I felt like they were the same person, there was no difference between them and for me that was an author's flaw, it should've been written in 3rd person.
But I'm definitely intrigued! I want those answers! I'm loking forward to the next book because there's a huge cliffhanger.

This was an amazing beginning to a trilogy that is sure to entice you back for more.

The character of Jacade is a dark, mysterious and so very alpha. As we progress in the story we learn there is a whole other Jacade. The secrets he hides are slowly being revealed. You will question what it is about the herione that has him obsessed over her.

Ivy's character is a woman I think most of could relate to. Strong yet vulnerable,, sassy yet. Compassionate. She is amazed at the way she reacts over an encounter with a stranger in a crowded elevated. Then surprised at how she allows Jacade to dominate her and how much she loves it.

But there is do much more than just an erotic romance going on here. Once we get pieces of this puzzle to the story it will entrance your need tor knowledge and have you panting for another touch. The author was very discriptive in her telling of this story. We even got some interesting secondary characters. The ending is a cliffhanger that will have you screaming "NOooo"!!!!! I personally need an advanced copy or some blood pressure pills because my àbility to wait patiently for this next one
Is increasing my blood pressure. LOL! I've never been patient when I really want something. In other words....the author accomplished her objective, hook, line and sinker.

I have had this book on my to read list for a while and I just finished reading it. I don't know what took me so long to read this book!! It was amazing, from beginning to end. I was pulled in from the beginning. You will fall in love with Dr. Jordan and his smooth ways. And, Ivy will keep you on your toes with her smart mouth. I love that this is a dual POV book. You know what each is thinking, when and all of the things that are going on in their heads. There is a lot of humor in through out the book that will keep you turning the pages. These two have so much chemistry it seems to ooze off the page.

Dr. Jordan is the bad boy from the wrong side of the town, but has become a successful doctor along with Ivy's Uncle Bernie and Aunt Helen. He know's what he wants and he wants Ivy. He has known that he has wanted her for the last three years since that fateful day. Ivy has her own life with her own friends. She also has a history that starts to unfold throughout the book.

M.K. has a lot of personality in this book and there is never a dual moment. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Don't miss this book!!

To bad she never saw him only his shoes. Dr. Jacade Jordan one of the doctors in her uncles practice as wanted Ivy for years. Now is his chance to final get what he has waited for.

Jacade is a bad boy turned doctor and is a man every women wants. Which up until Ivy returns he has no problem giving. Ivy is strong and feisty but for some reason around Jacade she turns into one of those women that will do pretty much anything the man says. At times she tries to fight against it but most of the time there just isn't any use trying. Her body won't let her.

Smoking hot erotic book. Violence and suspense keep the book going along with some fantastic sex scenes.

I love this book! I am dying to know what happened! ...

Based in Chicago, this book is about a used to be hoodlum, now a plastic surgeon (Jacade) and a woman he has wanted for years (Ivy) and now only gets a chance to get together with. Something in Ivy's medical past has her memory not telling her everything. Did I mention Jacade has a body all women want and all men want to be?

This book is HOT and sexy, yet a suspense thriller too! Revival also has a comical side. I love the quirky little bites from Slut Ivy and Feminist Ivy (the 2 voices in Ivy's head). The ending... omg, I can't wait to see what happened!!! A definite must read!

Ivy and Jacade have a past. Their pasts are dark, sinister, and deadly. Their secrets could unravel them in an instant. Jacade has secrets that he's keeping from Ivy. Secrets that could ruin what he's spent years trying to keep. His and Ivy's relationship.

I loved these complex characters. There is so much that we find out, yet at the same time secrets we haven't unveiled keep you in suspense. The why's and how's kept me turning the page. The characters have great chemistry, are explosive in the bedroom, and fun outside. They laugh, and have fun even with the darkness that lurks behind each corner. He's domineering and she has strength many would love to covet. The writing flows easily and her descriptive flare adds to the story. I couldn't wait to jump into book 2.

I loved this book. Did not want to put it down. Ivy has had a hard life and it just keeps getting harder, Jacade is a plastic surgeon who has secrets he does not want Ivy to know. This is part 1 of the trilogy and ends with a cliff-hanger. I can't wait for the next book to come out. This is a story worth waiting for. I got so lost in the story that when I got to the end I just sat there.... Like a really good movie you don't to get up yet. I recommend this story to all readers who love an edgy story with real feelings, oh and HOT sex. :)

This friggin book! I was left on the edge at the ending wanting more details and then found out book #2 isn't out until NOVEMBER! Sorry but you are torturing me.

Anyways this book features some really interesting characters and an interesting world of mobster surgeons. This was immediately intriguing to me.

Yeah some things could have used more development, but I finished the book in two days and having a hard time putting it down.

Overall I dug it and am excited for the next one!

First off I like how it's from both points of view.

Good strong characters although it wouldn't have hurt Ivy to be just a tad stronger around Jacade at times. But then again would I be able to? Probs not!

Can't wait to get into the next book it's just so far away and then we'll all have another wait for the last book! I'm pretty sure I want to make a law against this......patience is not a strong suit of mine!

I loved this book. The novel if filled with romance, mystery, sex, and suspense. Revival is a beautiful love story in the making.
