"Since when are bikers the good guys?... They're filthy as SIN."

Dawson McCade is used to having to fight for everything. He fought hard for his position as the President of one of the most ruthless, bad-ass, outlaw motorcycle clubs... the Riverdale chapter of the SLAYERS, MC.
He's prepared to fight with everything he has against the newest threat to his organization... the Conquistadors drug cartel as it begins to move in on his club's territory.
One thing he's not used to fighting, though, is against himself. Ever since the moment he first laid eyes on the innocent, angelic, Molly Donovan, his world's been thrown upside down.
He's a killer, an animal, with dark demons buried deep. Demons that he's used to help fuel the drive that's gotten him to where he is in life. He's not looking for redemption, he's not looking for temptation... hell, he IS the temptation.
Molly, his "angel", brings a whole new threat to Dawson's life. One that can't be fought on the outside like everything else he's used to. She's going to cause a war within him, one that's more dangerous and terrifying to him than the bullets that the Conquistadors are sending his way.

The Slayers MC are soldiers, fighters. Dawson's going to need every single bit of those things to lead both his club and his heart to victory.

*This is a BRAND NEW series by Tara Oakes, authoress of the Kingsmen MC series. Although the two series will have slight overlap, this series is fully written to be read as a complete standalone from the Kingsmen. For those of you that have already fallen in love with Tara's sexy bikers, fear not... you're about to get a whole new group of alpha book-boyfriends to add to your collection.

Pretty good lighter biker read but FYI the book just ends with no real resolution for the leads. They are together but we didn't get a nice ending, so I guess their story will also continue in the next book? I wouldn't say it's a cliffhanger for the relationship because they are together but I would have preferred a more concrete ending even if the next book will continue their story. I still liked the book though. One issue I had with the writing style was that the author would give the foreplay scenes before sex a ton of detail then the actual sex scenes would fade to black and suddenly they were done - what the heck? If you are going to go into that much detail about part of the love scene then finish it out.

Holy crap bags!!! Book 2. Now. Please? Hello???
Tara, how can you end a book like that? I need more, like, yesterday!

After reading the blurb my interest was piqued, therefore, when I received the book, even though I was in a self-imposed 'book break' (lol I was deluding myself) I had to dive right in.

I went into this without much expectations because Jeez Louise I judge them too hard and end up DNG’ing the book at any random point (yeah, I’m weird like that!) when I can’t take it anymore. But this book kind of caught me of guard. While I was expecting for something dark and intense, it gave me something hilariously sweet and funny with a decent plot, action and intrigue!

At about 3% I was sold!

Dawson was just everything! *wistful sigh* He was a badass, plain and simple. That's the thing I loved, he was the president of a MC (that doesn't come without spilling some blood and making a few enemies) and didn't try to be anything less. He is who he is. I loved his cocky attitude, the loyalty he had towards his MC and his protectiveness over them and his Angel, which is the nickname he gives to her.
”Fuck, I’m a lost cause, far beyond saving. Maybe that’s why I want to save her.
The man had me swooning. Anytime he made one of his promises to Molly or said and did things to reassure her, well you could imagine the puddle of mush he turned me into. Most definitely book-boyfriend material!
"You’re everything I should want but never have, and fuck me for being selfish and breaking the rules of things, but damn it, I want you. And I’m gonna have you.”
”I knew Angel was the right name for you, baby.” I whisper out, exhausted.
Her chin nuzzles into my chest. “Yeah? Why’s that?”
I feel myself slipping into someplace warm and safe. “Because you show me heaven.”
You see what I’m saying? The man was golden.

I even liked Molly (shocking, I know), I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but every time I thought she was going to do something to prove me right, she would surprise me by doing the opposite. I love when heroines are strong and independent without being stupid! (Bravo on that point Tara) The things that Molly went through and for Dawson to swoop in and do what he did, even I would be hesitant, therefore I understand why it was difficult for her to let him in.
”Why are you doing this? Why would you want to help me? Someone you barely know?”
“No fucking clue, Angel. It’s just something I need to do.”
It sounds as if it’s as much a mystery to him as it is to me.
The story drew me in quickly and maintained a nice, steady pace throughout. I was laughing and sighing with a goofy smile on my face most of the time. Though the book was short, I still got to know the characters and love them. At times the romance wanted to feel rushed but after being introduced to Dawson, you would quickly be changing your mind about that.
I do what I want, when I want, because there’s no guarantee I’ll have another chance to do it. That’s why when I saw Angel, when I knew that I wanted her, I just did it. No regrets. Ever.
That ending though …. Gahhhhh I need more!
So, if you’re looking for a short, light and funny, sinfully sexy read about badass guys then this is the book for you.

"Since when are bikers the good guys?... They're filthy as SIN."

Dawson is a fighter.

He fought for the presidency of the Slayers MC and is fighting the Conquistadors, a drug cartel that's threatening to move in on the Slayers territory. Dawson is a bad-ass ruthless killer with one weakness.... Molly, his angel.

Molly "Angel" Donovan has not had an easy life always making sacrifices for her family. She's determined to do things on her own despite Dawson's insistence to help.

How do you fight an unseen threat? That's what Molly is to Dawson's heart. Dawson is clueless when it comes to fighting himself.

Tara Oaks is a new author to us and we look forward to reviewing more of her work. Although this story was shorter than expected and missing some depth in places I still felt pulled into the Slayers MC world and didn't want to leave. Even the few spelling and grammatical errors didn't take away from the story.

How can you go wrong with sexy bad-ass bikers and the strong independent women who tame them? We will definitely be recommending Tara Oaks to our readers.

Holy hotness. This book was hot from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. Such a fast read and action packed.

Molly had a rough life and was taking a job at the Slayer's MC club as a stripper. Turned out she just wasn't up for the position. It wasn't her. After hearing a woman being beaten, the president of the club, Dawson, steps in and falls head over heels for Molly. He nicknames her Angel.

Dawson tries to spoil her from the beginning but she fights him every step of the way. Their relationship moves extremely fast. Dawson has realized that in his line of work you have to live life to the fullest because you never know when your life might end.

This book is action packed and hot as hell. I believe I know the secret that the story ends with but won't know.for sure until February when for sure I will be digging into book 2. I will be counting down the days.

Mmmmm...sexy bad-ass biker...yes please!

"That was crazy, raw, rough, gentle, a fucking million things all rolled into one."

Dawson is the President of The Slayers MC. This MC has been mentioned in the past and you've had glimpses that these are the bad boys from the other side of the tracks. They are not always on the right side of the law, but Dawson leads this pack with a no-questions-asked attitude and the wolfs follow loyally behind him. He has long enjoyed his life as the leader and with no one telling him what to do. He does what he wants, when he wants and can have anyone at his beck-and-call. That is until he stumbles upon the doe-eyed Molly.

"That's the part of me that senses this chick, this angelic little thing, could douse me in fucking holy water and I'd beg for more if it meant I could drown in those deep brown eyes while she's doing it."

Molly is smart and fierce. When life has shit all over her, she makes due the best way she can. She believes in doing the right thing and doesn't let her life take away her righteousness. She is also a bit of a spitfire. She doesn't want charity or hand outs. She doesn't want anyone to feel bad for her, she wants to make her own way and keep her self and family safe and cared for. So when this bikers starts feeling the need to help her, she pushes back. And then comes the sexual tension and later serious heat because the biker and the angel can't stay away from each other. Dawson is all-in and Molly is left playing catch up.

"You want me to be honest? Then I'll be fucking honest. You got something that makes me question the very basic shit I never had reason to question before, Angel. You asked why I call you that? Why I call you Angel? 'Cause you're nothing like me. You're good. You're decent. You're everything I should want but never have, and fuck me for being selfish and breaking the rules of things, but damn it, I want you. And I'm gonna have you."

I really liked this book. I loved both characters. There was sassiness, alpha males, controversy, and war brewing behind the scenes. And of course when I came to the end I was cursing my kindle because I was out of pages, I should be used to it by now. I am really looking forward to more of this series as these bad boys seem like they are going to be a lot of fun.

I never thought I would be a big MC reader, but damn I love these books. I was first drawn in by the Kingsmen MC 's and let me tell ya that series had me like a Crack head. Always looking for the next book!
This series proves to be the same way.
I thought the way Dawson and Molly aka Angel
met was very original.
Angel sort of took him by surprise in all ways.
He couldn’t even understand his reaction to her. She on the other hand was just very proud.
A woman not wanting
hand- outs and
willing to continue doing
what she's always done
to get by.
Dawson admired that quality
I think, but once he claimed
her was not having any of it. Whether she liked it or not!
Angel truly had no idea what she was getting herself into until she was in already knee deep in it. Funny thing is she just reacted. She stood by her man and by nature
she became a Slayer.
I wonder if she has even realized that yet.
I have a feeling there is more to get story than we have been given so far.
These two have a sexy flirty banter that was hot and very heavy. Dawson definitely aimed to please and I can't wait to get more of these two in the next book so I can devour it like I did this one!

I love a good mc read and First Ride met my expectations and then some! Dawson is all alpha and honestly, kind of a cocky jerk, but as the President of the mc, you need to be. He oozes authority. I like when the bikers are a good mix of outlaw and guy with a good heart. Too much of the latter for me just doesn't work. And Dawson...he works.

Molly is amazing. She's strong, she's determined, and she has no idea what to do when she meets Dawson. I love that she wasn't head over heels at first. She was guarded, and with good reason. When she finally stops fighting the inevitable, the sparks fly.

The story itself is fast paced, just gritty enough to keep me interested, and even though it was a fairly quick read, the characters are developed enough to keep you wanting more of their story.

This was my first book by Tara Oakes. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the chemistry between Dawson and Angel, it was believable. This was a little bit of insta love, and I don't normally like that, but it worked in this book. It was a fast, enjoyable read. I will read more by this author.

3 1/2 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
This is the first book in the Slayers MC Series by Tara Oakes. I absolutely loved the Kingsmen MC series by Tara but so far the Slayers aren’t as good. Dawson McCade is the President of the Riverdale chapter of the Slayers MC. Molly has a mother she takes care of who is in and out of the hospital and a two year old little girl named Sasha that she’s responsible for. She gets a job at the local strip club but when it comes time for her to go on stage she changes her mind. Dawson is at the strip club the MC owns when he finds out the manager he hired slapped a woman because she changed her mind about dancing. He is furious because he has no tolerance for men who abuse women and children. When he sees Molly he knows immediately she doesn’t belong there. He nicknames her “Angel” and finds himself wanting to protect her and make life easier for her.

4.5 stars!

I have to be honest. I jumped on the Tara Oakes bandwagon a little late; it wasn't until I was contacted to see if I'd want to read & review her CHIANTI KISSES series that she came onto my radar. I decided to give that Mafia genre series a chance and wowsa - am I ever glad I did! Then I backed up and started reading the Kingsmen MC series and I found that it grabbed my heart and imagination - and those "Oakes roots" were set in my soul! [If anyone is giving out points, I should get two for rolling her name and a book title .]

I was a bit leery, however, switching from reading the Kingsmen to the Slayers because, well, they aren't exactly bosom buddies - so KUDOS to Tara Oakes for taking a group that had formerly been viewed as an "adversary" / bad guy and having her readers immediately be able to jump into backing them as "heroes"! I LOVED this book and the way that Damon was so accepting of Angel/Molly and Sasha, the changes in his life and going after what he wants -- all while keeping his MC as safe as possible. (Even though the problems they are in are basically due to his debatable decisions.) I'm not sure if this book as shorter in length, but I was a bit bummed when it came to an end - maybe because I was expecting it to take longer to "feel" the Slayers group as the good guys?

BONUS for those that are part of Kindle Unlimited -- you can read this for FREE! (Along with many of Tara Oakes titles!) Catch the first book in the Kingsmen series for 99 cents - but you don't need to have read the Kingsmen in order to appreciate the Slayers! If you a fan of MC books be sure to put FIRST RIDE on your TBR list and in your shopping cart!

This is the first work that I've read by this author. I love MC romance and believe that there is a certain way to write it correctly. At least, as far as my enjoyment of it. This is sort of a novella in length. Less than 200 pages.

What I liked:

Dawson is really a kind guy to his heroine. From the beginning.

I liked the banter between the MC brothers.

I liked the heroine's devotion to her family.

What I didn't like:

The insta-love. It was a little hard to buy into.

It was too short.

I liked the book and will look for the next book in the series.

More like 3 1/2 stars.

Not bad. It's actually pretty good. Now you have to like over the top possessed guys, but Dawson does use the right motivation for his actions. He actually puts thought process in the actions too. He is sexy as hell to top it off. I think I needed more background on him..not enough back story.

Molly aka Angel is an interesting girl. I like her she is tough as nails, but she does turn to mush once she meets Dawson. She has a great deal of baggage and responsibility, but I love how Dawson manages it and loves her throughout.

Sex is hot and steamy.

Does leave on a non-ending, so you have to read the next, which I will.
Happy reading!

First Ride by Tara Oakes was exciting and funny. I found myself laugh out loud in some parts when the two main characters butt head.

Hot and Sexy Dawson is the true definition of an alpha- his way or no way. He get things done, but he has meet his match with the sweet angel Molly. Proud and determined, she is as stubborn as Dawson. It is a power struggle to see who submits first- who will finally be the one to say " I need you".

First Ride

Molly needs to make some some money to help her situation, so when she thinks she can become a stripper. She can't and she tries to back out but one guy won't let her. So when her savoir Dawson saves her she wants him. Dawson isn't a relationship kind of guy but when he meets his Angel "molly" his mind is on overdrive to protect her. How will she act when she finds out he's the president of the Slayer MC? Great read.

just kinda there

This book was just kinda there for me. The storyline had potential, I loved the idea of the kid, Aunt, and the MC. I took off a star for story/character development, it needed more. For example You walk away from the first book knowing none of the MC except a prospect. Another star I took off for emotions… I had none. The 3rd star is because it’s a cliffhanger.

Molly didn’t know what to expect when it came to Dawson McCade but what she did know is that she couldn’t stop herself from falling for the bad boy. Dawson is President of the Riverdale chapter of the Slayer MC. He use to fighting for everything that he has including his title but Molly is the only person whom he can’t fight. With the Conquistadors drug cartel encroaching on his territory that last thing he needs is a weakness they can exploit. Will the war within Dawson break him before the battle for his territory or will he lose it all?

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Molly is not your typical girl, she smart, head-strong and stubborn but when she tries her hand at working in a strip club that The Slayer’s own things don’t go according to plan. Molly needs the money to help pay her mother’s medical bills and keep her niece with her and away from her lousy father. Molly never expected to meet her match when it came to meeting Dawson McCade. He thinks she’s the good girl type, an angel but in her mind she’s anything but an angel.

Dawson can have any woman he wants. In fact he has a few he keeps on the side but the moment he meets Molly they aren’t what he wants anymore. Dawson’s greatest strength is that he has no visible weakness. This is how he has gotten to where he is within the club and his life. Molly or Angel as he refers to her by has changed everything for him especially on how he conducts his business and his personal life. He knows he’s no good for Molly but he can’t stay away.

This is the first book in the Slayer’s MC series and it’s off to a hot and steamy start! If you’ve read the Kingsman MC series you would’ve met Dawson in the last book of the series and gotten a taste of what this man is like. He is the true Alpha motorcycle bad boy who lives by his rules and doesn’t care what others think about him. This has earned him a reputation that has gotten him what he’s wanted in life but not without a fight. He’s seen what happens when the president of the MC fall down and how that affects the club and his brothers. He lived only for his club and brothers until Molly stepped into his club. She’s the only woman who has ever turned him into a softy and he has, but the undeniable attraction between these two is so intense it hard to miss. Molly has had her share of bad luck but when Dawson tries to help her out she doesn’t know what to do with it. Her family depends on her so when Dawson offers her a job at the club he owns she jumps at the chance. This begins the bumpy ride of what is going on between them and who Molly is loyal too. Things explode for everyone leaving the readers with questions of what is to come next for the MC and Dawson and Molly. It’s a great start to the series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

First off I wasn't sure what to expect with this book when the author asked me to read and review First Ride as I haven't read anything by Tara before. Well, that's about to change as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This book sets us up for the rest of the series so there were quite a few details that needed to be conveyed. I absolutely loved how big tough Dawson, the Slayers Prez felt an overwhelming need to help our heroine, Molly, or as he calls her, Angel. Molly is in desperate need of money to keep Sasha and her Mom safe and healthy. Dawson for the first time in his life finds himself wanting to help Angel and when she asks why...

'"There's something about you, Angel. Something I've never seen in another person before." I feel his mouth nuzzle into my hair. "Something in your eyes. I've only ever seen it in the mirror, looking back at me. A raw determination. No expectations, knowing you can't count on anyone but yourself. Fierce stubbornness. I don't know why, but I don't want you to feel that. I don't want that for you..."'

The attraction between Dawson and Angel is red hot! She hasn't been with anyone in a while and Dawson on the other hand, well, you know, he's the Prez of the MC and has the women falling at his feet. But the minute he sees/meets our heroine, he's not interested in anyone else and I loved that. He wants her, but he can't quite figure out why.

The more we learn about her and Sasha's life, the more I fell in love with her tenacity and determination to do everything on her own and do whatever is necessary to protect Sasha and her Mom. Unfortunately for Angel, Dawson doesn't take no very easily and things between them combust and in a VERY good way. And when things rapidly change in their lives, things begin to happen that could possibly threaten anything that might mean a HEA for our H/h. And these are very bad things.... can Dawson protect his Ol' Lady and Sasha? Can he handle the outside influences that could take them away from him? Does the MC stand behind Dawson and his determination to protect Angel and those important to her? You'll find out when you read this great book!!!

This is the second book I have read by Tara Oakes and I enjoyed this one as much as the first. Dawson is the president of the MC Slayers motorcycle club. He is your typical biker. No steady girl, the club is his life and all he needs is that and his club brothers. That is until he meets Molly or as he calls her Angel. She is supposed to dance at the club’s legit business which a strip club but changes her mind at the last minute. The strip club manager doesn’t like this and Dawson steps in. He can tell right away that she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. He is normally really good at figuring people out but not Molly. There is just something about her that makes him want to protect her. That doesn’t change once he finds her story out in fact it just gets stronger. Molly doesn’t fully understand what it means to be a part of Dawson’s life. Dawson makes Molly his ol’ lady but is she ready for what being a part of his life really means? Dawson makes Molly feel safe and Molly brings Dawson a sense of peace. This book is fast paced and completely pulled me in. Molly is young but she has tons of responsibility and people counting on her. According to her she doesn’t need anyone but that changes when she meets Dawson. She may say that she doesn’t need Dawson or anyone else but he doesn’t accept that. He is going to help her even if she doesn’t want it. Dawson will make her see that she does need him even if she doesn’t need anyone else. The other members of the Slayers are great and I am excited to read the books that follow this one is the series to find out more about them. Molly has completely taken Dawson by surprise and changed things for him. Now he has a family himself not just his club family. He will do everything in his power to protect his new family. Will they be able to overcome what is coming their way? This book ends on a kind of cliff hanger but not a horrible one. I am glad to have the second book to read right away. Great job Tara Oakes.
