I asked the author for a synopsis for this short from The Falls Chance Ranch Saga......this is what he said: "If you'd like a quick overview of the plot - it's Dale's birthday and they're going out to celebrate at a local dance. Nothing can possibly go wrong of course." Of course something does go wrong, otherwise there wouldn't be a story. Loved it. Great little plot. These stories are not stand alone and not to everyone's taste. But I love them. Zero descriptive sex, domestic discipline and a polygamous, gay relationship.....I know, strange eh? But it works! Five definite stars for a short story.
Nice, short and sweet. An interesting snippet take gives us a look into thr culture of ranch neighbours and how their activities are. I like this quite a lot as this kind of opened up the world a bit more with some new characters and a different aspect of this love and family story. And Dale being a wonderful badass too of course. I hope there will be more of these kind of things in future stories, *wink, wink, nudge nudge*
A short story based around Dale's second birthday at the ranch (he was in New York for the first one, and it wasn't celebrated), and of a dance at Madison's Hall.
It was really nice to get a sense of the wider community in this story. Normally, the story is very focused around the ranch and the people on it, with occasional appearances from the local doctor and vet. But this one talked about a lot of the neighbours and it was really nice to get that sense of community, and the fact that they accepted the men of the ranch.
And, of course, Dale could not cope with his birthday and it was really nice to see how his men dealt with that.
The dramatic climax was brilliant, and I feel like the resulting punishment was a little harsh but I can also see why it was necessary. They're good men, I love them so much.
Short story of the FCR series, set very shortly after The Mary Ellen Carter. It's Dale's birthday, which is not an easy day for him so shortly after confronting what happened with his mother. There's also a local community even, and Dale once again climbs on a roof much to his husbands' dismay...
I adored the love and care you can feel radiating from every word. So many tiny details are in the story that, despite being written 3 years ago, directly reference events from the most current chapters.
