This is a big book. Full of everything aviation. And, we do mean everything. This ultimate reference book explains all aspects of aviation from props to heavy jets.
Out of date in more ways than one, but mostly just absolutely racist and misogynistic. This book is trash, if you buy it, I hope it’s just because there’s a shortage of toilet paper in your town.
Definitely recommending this to my students to read from now on. Similar format to how “pilots cafe” is written for IFR flying but this is for everything. Some good pilot humor included as well. Definitely something to read with a highlighter to highlight information for later. I loved the whole chapter about conversion tables as well. Super interesting facts in the book like how 100 hp is 74 kw and most countries use kw to measure how much power a car has?! Also more than just the “standard” squawk codes everyone learns in training (1200, 7500, 7600, and 7700) there’s a lot more “standard” ones. This book is a must read for anyone who wants to make a career out of flying!
Really a great synopsis/compilation. Check your current regs, but it brings a lot of good info into a single place with references for further exploration.
I wish I would've gotten this book before I started flight training. It takes all the "airplane geek" out and helps you understand this new information when you're first exposed to it. But word of caution: it should be used a lot like those " for dummies" books; it is a good place to start but not the sole source of the learning. It is written very well to do just that. You can read the new stuff and go look up the reference for it.
