I was surprised to find that this author is really two writers - Diane Henry and Nicholas Horrock, a wife and husband writing team.

Alec Anton is a lawyer who has two clients about to go to jail for fraud they committed and a neighbor he lusts after to begs him to find her son. I suspect that each of the writers worked to develop the separate stories of the two cases because, for me, they seemed a bit disjointed. Oh, they are reconciled in the end, but, in the middle of the book, it felt like the story of the two men was dropped (while Alec searched for the missing son) by both the protagonist and the writer(s).

This writing team has only written one other book - Potomac Fever: A Novel. As it predated Blood Red, I doubt that the writing style will be any smoother but I will try it anyway as the story might be as good.
