......................

The sun descends and the moon rises, giving the only light that illuminates the darkness. Wind blows silently as if it is trying to tell me a secret. Our steps are quiet, we move like the wind walking along the forest floor, as we make our way to the hole I crawled out of just a few months ago.

We whip past the trees, rocks, and grass like we are floating in the air. The animals in the forest are neither seen nor heard. They are hiding, but I know they are out there. I can hear the steady pace of their hearts and the blood flowing in their veins.

We make it to our destination. No words spoken, no sentiments given. There is just quiet contemplation and preparation churning in our minds. I look at Jade and she nods. She quickly turns and climbs the tall tree, near me, looking like a spider silently climbing up a wall.

I turn my attention away from Jade. She is now invisible to me. I will neither give away nor tell her whereabouts. She is a secret, one that I will pretend not to know.

I look around through the darkness of night, taking my place, waiting for this game to begin. My stance is confident. My mind is calm. I survey my surroundings, like a predator who feels threatened, bracing for an attack. My eyes land on remnants of the trash bag that once held me inside. I laugh, Nate will have to do better this time if he wants to get rid of me.

Nate is going to come into the forest confident and cocky. He doesn’t realize that the girl he is coming to kill isn’t the same one he had attempted to kill before.

A Young Adult vampire book, Transition opens up when Nichole Roberts celebrated her eighteenth birthday and was turned into a vampire when her boyfriend Nate Blackwood transitioned her. All throughout her relationship with Nate, she didn't know that he was a vampire. Not until his bad side suddenly showed up and she realized that he's not at all the perfect boyfriend that she thought he was. It was too late when she decided to end their relationship though, because she already became a creature of the night.

I really tried to like this book but I felt underwhelmed in most parts. The plot was a little bit cliché to me. I've read this kind of vampire story before so maybe that's the reason why it felt unoriginal to me.

I believe this book will not be so bad at all if it also wasn't because of the female lead. Nichole kind of ruined it. I was fairly unimpressed with her bratty attitude. She was unnerving, whiny, and difficult to like. The moment she said these things, I knew she and I wouldn't get along...

"Casey and I aren't the most popular girls in school but we are likeable and easy to get along with so that gives us a substantial amount of popularity."

Another problem that I encountered was Nichole's over-the-top and perfect character. Literally perfect. She grew up in a rich and loving family, has a tall frame and beautiful face, has a boyfriend who's also tall, good-looking, and wealthy (he even gave her a jewelry with real diamonds in them on her birthday), and even her boyfriend's friends are perfect. She has many admirers and everybody in school loves her. In short, everything was unrealistic.

I also had an issue when it comes to the characters' dialogues which sounded awkward. At times it even appeared repetitive. The world-building and the descriptions of actions were also vague and it was difficult for me to imagine what I was reading.

I give this book 2 stars though because of the interesting things that started to appear in the final chapters. The ending, which was a cliffhanger, was also strongly delivered. It gave the readers a glimpse of the exciting things that will happen in the next book.

(Thank you to the author Paige Walker for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)

“I look down at my outfit. I am wearing the black, short, leather dress that Jade bought for me. The dress top slants across my torso and then drifts into the sleeve on my right shoulder.”

I just want to begin my review by saying that the author’s descriptions of things are amazing. I enjoy the author’s sense of fashion for what the characters wear. This is something that stood out to me and I really liked it. I have never read a book that really takes the time to create such cute & risky outfits before.

The book is narrated by Nicole Roberts. She is 18 years old brand new! She has it all going on! The boy toy, the family, the looks, the money, and the popularity. The thing is does she really have it all going on? Or is there something in what I described hiding under sheep’s clothing?

The narrator is a reliable source of information and really takes in everything that is happening to her. I do feel bad for Nicole around halfway through the book because she is REALLY fighting against her instinct vs. conscience.

While this book is only 275 pages I am happy to say it doesn’t lack creativity, wit, action or style! (haha)

One of the things that stood out in my mind is how it will be serious and then there is a dark humor type of dialogue between the characters.

Overall, I give this book a strong 4 stars. I hold back on my 5 stars solely because it was hard for me to figure out what was a dream the main character was having and reality. At first I thought it was an editing mistake! I was confused on how this could have been overlooked… The dreams are separated by “***” and I really feel there should be a clearer way to let the readers know it was transitioning from reality to dreams.

I was gifted this book by the author for reviewing and blog tour purposes. I thank the author and happylilbooknook for this opportunity. Don’t forget to follow @_paigewalker & @happylilbooknook on Instagram.

So I finally had to some time to sit and write a review for this books.

First of all I'm really happy to have been able to participate in Paige's Book Tour with other bloggers and instagramers. She's an amazing person and writer. I really enjoyed reading author interviews and the reviews by fellows host's.

This book was very suspenseful and never dragged out. It kept me on my toes, I never really knew what was going to happen next. I wasn't even expecting the what was going to happen to Nicole in the book. That caught me really off guard. Lol

Well the reason I gave this book 4 star because of the writing style, I felt like it was more of a tween type of writing than young adult. It was a bit hard to get used to that kind of writing.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed this book and was happy to get the chance to read this.

I could not put this book down and I'm not a big fan of Fantasy. Transition had me laughing and crying. There were times in the novel that had me on edge (in a good way) and I couldn't get to the next page fast enough. I love the main character Nichole and I can't wait to see what will happen in the sequel spice there was a little cliff hanger in the Epilogue. I won't give away any spoilers but if you like drama, fantasy, and romance you should read this! Also if you are a fantasy and vampire fan I definitely recommend this!

I think this novel has a good moral and that is that there are some mistakes/decisions that affect your life forever. Another moral is to be careful who you trust!

I need the sequel now!

I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review by the author.

Overall, I loved this book! I've always been a sucker (get it? sucker. haha) for vampire books. There were a few editing mistakes that did put me off but not enough to not finish the book in less than a day. I love how the different versions of vampires were played out and explained as well. I'm giving this a four due to editing mistakes.

I really enjoyed this novel. I’m not a vampire fan but this story really pulled me in. It was very suspenseful and had many twist and turns. This novel was different than other stories which is something I really liked. Very well written!

Spoiler!

There is a cliffhanger at the end. I can’t wait to read the next one! Maybe I’m a vampire fan after all??? 5 stars!!!

This book was so good and hard to put down. The characters are well defined. The author does a good job of keeping the pacing of the story moving at a good speed, preventing the reader from getting bogged down. There are great visual details in the writing to expand the readers imagination. Very suspenseful mystery. Can't wait for the next book.

Fun Read

I enjoyed the overtones of sarcasm and humor throughout this story. It was interesting and descriptive. I gave it 3 stars because it is YA and vampires, neither of which are the type of reads I gravitate towards. I think Twilight fans will LOVE it!!

I was recently sent this book for an honest review. It has great bone structure. And has potential to be a great book young adult book. I feel like the writing is geared a little bit more towards middle school, rather than young adult.

Considering the author went from writing poetry to this. Its a really great start. I look forward to seeing more!
