Bull rider Adam Meyer put Devil’s Falls in his rearview mirror years ago and hasn’t stopped running since. Now he’s back—temporarily, if he has any say about it. Restless, he finds himself kissing the sexiest girl in town…and agreeing to be the fake boyfriend in her little revenge scheme.
Jules Rodrigez isn’t interested in the role of town spinster. Being seen with a hell raiser like Adam is the perfect way to scandalize the residents, make her ex jealous, and prove she’s a sexy, desirable woman. And if their plan includes ridiculously hot sex—in public, of course—all the better.
But this thing between them has an expiration date. Putting down roots isn’t in Adam’s blood, and Jules’s roots in Devil’s Falls are bedrock deep. He’ll leave, even if it rips out his heart. But this time, he’s not sure he’ll survive it…

Wow!!! That was a lovely and refreshing story!!! I had such a great time as i was reading it... I literally read it in one breath!!! I adored both main characters and i can't wait for more about this series... Adam's two best friends have lots of potentials!!! And I'm dying to find out everything about them... But let me tell you more about sexy Adam and lovely Jules...
Jules was 26 years old and she was living all of her life on Devil's Falls and she had no problem with that... She loved it there!!! She was the owner of a cat cafe... Yep, a coffee shop that had cats inside for companion (Odd, but cute!!!!) ...and she was living with her antisocial best friend... Her life was simple and plain, but then stepped on the picture her ex boyfriend who returned back to town after 9 years and all the town gave all the attention back to her and her reactions to him... And then, in a unexpectedly craziness, she saw in front of her Adam Meyer and she acted irrational for first time in her life...
"When it came to Adam, she was on a roller coaster and the safety brakes were gone. There was only one possible outcome, but she couldn't bring herself to care. It would be one heck of a ride before she crashed and burned."
Adam was 7 years older than Jules and one of his best friends was Jules's cousin... He was a wild, free spirit and he couldn't settle down in one place. He was a bull rider and he was loving his "job"... He left town more than a decade before and this was the first time that he returned back after all this time and that happened because his mother was very ill... Adam hated this small town where nothing new was happening and he couldn't wait to leave for once again... and then, Jules happens and his life in Devil's Falls becomes more bearable and exciting...
"If he was a better man, he'd set her aside and explain why this would only end in tears for her. Jules wasn't the type of woman to be able to get to a certain level of physical intimacy without her heart becoming involved. He liked her. He didn't want to hurt her. But he wasn't a better man."
So from nowhere and while they are totally strangers, Jules and Adam agreed to play a game... They will pretend that they are in a "fake" relationship in order for Jules to avoid her douche ex and for creating a mini scandal in for everyone to town for stop saying nasty things for Jules... And what Adam will earn of this facade??? It will make his staying more bearable and more funny!!! But the lines are blurring too often from the very beginning... Adam and Jules can't stay away from each other and the temperature is rising dangerously... But from what they know for each other made them cowers to believe that what they are having is something more than pretending...
"The only problem was that she had a feeling proving them all wrong was going to come back to bite her in the butt, because Adam was a wildfire that would burn her up if she wasn't careful. And a tiny part of her wanted to douse herself in gasoline and welcome the flames."{Jules}
"He needed the horizon stretching out before him, the thrill of the next bull ride promising an adrenaline rush like no other. The closest he'd come to it outside the rodeo was the woman in his arms, and hell if that didn't make him a dick for using her to quell his thrill-seeking nature. It couldn't last, though. Nothing had kept him in one place for long before, and he didn't imagine anything would in the future."{Adam}
Well, i adored both Jules and Adam... They had such chemistry and damn, the scenes that they were closer to each other were so hot and yummy!!! They were so right for each other and they couldn't believe it!!! From the first moment, they were acting like real couple and they were trying so hard to persuade themselves that was nothing real there!!! One fact that i liked is that even with all this pretense, they weren't stopping themselves from touching each other inappropriate... and it was so damn sexy!!!!
"It shouldn't hurt... She wasn't really his girlfriend. And he's not staying. She had to remember that, to keep it in the forefront of her mind. To do anything else was emotional suicide."{Jules}
"It was Adam who wasn't sure how the hell he was going to go back to life on the road after he'd known what it was like to hold her in his arms."{Adam}
Well, Jules was a very good, caring, thoughtful, cheerful and innocent girl... and all this goodness had tired her!!! She wanted to be a little bit bad and wild and Adam managed to discover this side of hers and it was liberating!!! Oh, did i tell you that she was so damn funny and cool??? Even though the facade, Adam made something inside of her, something that she had never felt before... She just wanted to prove a point in the town and to her ex and she found herself in big trouble!!!! And the bad thing was that she started to fall for Adam, but he was clear for the beginning that he wasn't there to stay...
"Nicotine might feel good in the moment, just like being with him did, but it was ultimately a toxic substance that only left pain in its wake. Kind of like her relationship with Adam."
Adam was awesome!!! I loved this guy!!! He was sexy as hell... He had the fame of the bad boy, but he didn't have a mean bone in his body... He was sweet, kind and... did i mention sexy??? Especially when he was dirty taking to Jules, i was melting!!! The same goes for Jules!!! Bahahaha... Adam's biggest problem was that he couldn't settle down and he didn't want to do it never!!! Especially there!!! But Jules was getting under his skin and even though that he tried to keep his hands away from her, he couldn't do it!!! She was making him see things differently and every day that was passing she was becoming more important to him and that wasn't good... He couldn't stay and she was doing all this pretense only for her ex.... Something that made him green from the jealously, even though that he would never admit it...
"It was getting worse with each passing heartbeat, because he knew this couldn't last forever. The longer it went on, the more the loss bloomed in the back of his mind. He was going to lose her, and he was only just realizing how much he wanted her. He didn't want this to end."
So what will happen with those two??? Will they get over all the things that are holding them back and to start taking chances??? Will they meant to be together??? Damn, i enjoyed so much this book and i can't wait for the next story in the series...
"This was never meant to be more than a crazy footnote in my life. Except it didn't feel like a footnote. It felt world ending."

Not only am I Brazen junkie, I am a big Katee Robert's fan. In her newest series, Foolproof Love, Ms. Robert introduces readers to an unlikely couple who happens to fall in love when they entered a fake relationship. So can the town’s cat lady fall in love with a bull rider?
“A fake boyfriend who gives you real orgasms.”
Cat lady. Possible Town Spinster. Jules Rodriguez is tired of what everyone in town thinks of her. And so when her ex-boyfriend, Grant returns back into town, old memories of him dumping her and calling her boring comes flooding back. So Jules recruits her cousin’s friend, Adam Meyer to be her fake boyfriend. It was a perfect plan since Adam would be only in town for a short awhile since he doesn’t seem to stay long.
Adam Meyer returns back home to take care of his sick mother and so when Jules asked him for a favor, he agreed since he didn’t like Jule’s pompous ex. To keep up with the charades of being a couple, Jules and Adam knew that they would have to act like a real couple by going on dates and showing affection. But a few kisses here and there soon leads to more. And what happens when pretend begins to get blurred with real feelings? Will Jules be able to rope in this bull rider into settling down?
Foolproof Love was a fun, sweet, and steamy romance that had all the elements of friendship, family, love and second chances incorporated into the story line. I adore the quirkiness of Jule’s best friend as she adds a touch of playfulness and sarcasm. What I especially love about this book was how easily Jules and Adam’s relationship flowed. Readers could easily see it was only a matter for these two to fall hard. So if you like a dirty talking hero and a sweet heroine, then this book is definitely for you.
Foolproof Love is the first installment in Katee Robert's adult contemporary romance series titled Foolproof Love. This was a likable and very sexy pretend-relationship romance with a country flair. Family issues created some unexpected emotion which added a bit of complexity to the characters. I enjoyed this novel and thoroughly enjoy Katee Robert as an author. Check it out!

Summary (from Goodreads):

What I Liked:
This is a new series by Katee Robert (new to us, but actually one of her first series ideas). I'm loving the idea of the series - dirty-talking cowboy for the win! - and I'm a huge fan of Katee Robert's books. So I was pretty excited about this one since I knew it existed. And I liked it! I was not disappointed, as I so rarely am, with Katee's books.
Jules' ex-boyfriend Grant is back in Devil's Falls, much to the annoyance of Jules. He dumped her nine years ago, citing that she was too boring. Years later, Grant is back and wants to cozy back up with Jules, but Jules isn't having it. She tells Grant that she's dating Adam Meyer. Adam was a wild kid back in the day, and he hasn't been in Devil's Falls for years. He's just recently come back to take care of his mother. But the famed bull-rider has not stayed in one place for very long. He agrees to be Jules' fake boyfriend, But they both know that there will be an end to this fake relationship... yet neither of them is quite willing to give up what they have.
Robert affectionately calls this series her "dirty talking-cowboy" series, which totally fits the bill here. The story is set in Texas, specifically a part of Texas, with dusty bars and cowboys and cowboy boots and bull riders and watering holes. I adored the setting of this book, and how it's so important to the story, the character, things as simple as speech/writing style.
We're first introduced to Jules, who is sweet and kind and supposedly boring, as dubbed by her ex-boyfriend. Jules has been in Devil's Falls all her life, and wants to stay there. She owns a cat cafe, in which you can buy your coffee or donuts or whatever, and cuddle with or pet a cat (there are seven roaming around the cafe). Neat idea, even if you don't like cats! I don't, by the way.
Anyway, so Grant is back in town (he's the ex), and he asks Jules on a date. Rude! So Jules tells Grant that she's dating... none other than Adam! Jules does not still carry a torch for Grant, but she wants him to know that she is not boring or a spinster. Best way to shake up rumors? Tell people you're dating the legendary Adam Meyer, bad boy and bull rider.
Adam is back in town to take care of his mother, who has cancer. No one knows about the cancer (they know that his mother is sick, but not the extent of the sickness). Adam is known for what he was when he was younger - wild, a little unpredictable, restless. He has a bit of a low opinion of himself, especially since he wasn't in Devil's Falls when his mother got sick. He blames himself for not being there, not seeing the sickness progress. Adam is a good guy, with a huge sense of honor. He's one of those alpha males that comes across as charming and wicked and a little arrogant, but he has a hard time opening up to people, and he probably needs lots of hugs.
I like the fake-to-real relationship kind of romances! I also liked that Jules wasn't trying to get back at Grant, or get over Grant, or make Adam her rebound. She and Grant hadn't been together in nine years - what Jules wanted was for Grant (and the whole small town) to see a little scandal from her, see that she's not just boring Jules Rodriguez.
While this book is entirely too short, I did like the progression of Adam and Jules's relationship. First they kiss in front of Grant a few seconds after Jules tells Grant that she is dating Adam (imagine Adam's surprise). Then she and Adam agree to have a fake relationship. But there is some seriously intense chemistry between them, so that fake relationship turns pretty steamy pretty quickly. And then the relationship turns real.
As with all of Robert's books, this book is pretty hot. I wouldn't say as steamy as her usual level of steamy, but still pretty scorching and 100% Entangled Brazen. And there is a generous dose of good backstory and a little bit of angst, but the book is low on drama.
Overall, I liked this book! Definitely worth the wait, and the read. I will be catching at least book two (not sure about book three - I don't really like babies/pregnancies in romance novels). I love Aubry and Quinn, and can't wait to read their story!
What I Did Not Like:
This book is way too short. Brazen novels typically aren't long, but this one doesn't even hit two hundred pages. I feel like the character growth could have been a smidgen more developed, and Adam and Jules' relationship definitely could have been more developed as well. And of course, I'm a glutton when it comes to romance novels - I want more anyway! More heat, too. This book isn't quite as hot as Robert's previous books have been. But that's okay!
Would I Recommend It:
If you like Katee Robert's books, I would definitely recommend this one, her latest book. And if you like Entangled Brazen novels, same deal. As a romance novel in general, I think it's a little too short, and there are better, longer, and steamier romance novels out there. But this one was very satisfying and sweet, I liked it!
Rating:
4 stars. Katee Robert in one of a few go-to romance authors that I adore! I'm always looking out for more steamy reads by her. Next from her is from her O'Malley's series, An Indecent Proposal, which I am dying to read it!
Jules Rodriguez hates the idea that the small town she lives in has her pegged as a spinster already… and all due to her ex Grant dumping her to head to the city for school. But he’s back to take over his father’s law practice and everyone seems to be giving her sad eyes and Grant himself seems to think he’s the only person who Jules is bound to end up with. But she isn’t going to settle for the guy who ditched her, and a chance run in has her turning to Adam Meyer… Devil’s Falls resident escaped bad boy. He’s now a bull rider who is back in town temporarily to care for his ailing mother. When Jules asks him to pretend he’s into her, it sure isn’t a hardship. One steamy kiss later, neither one of them can seem to keep their distance… and not only because they’re pretending to date to keep Grant away.
What a solid start to a new series by Katee Robert. I find that sometimes I’m not a huge fan of some of these Entangled romances, but this one just hit the spot with the hero, the heroine, and the storyline. I really, really enjoyed the characters in this story, and not just our main characters Jules and Adam… which makes me incredibly excited for the next books in this series. Can I just say that Jules job is like my dream. Cups and Cats is a coffee shop where people can come and relax with a cup of coffee and pet a few of the cats she has, and each one of the cats has their own personality! It makes me wonder how successful something like this would be where I live, and how I can make it happen!
But back to our couple at hand… I felt that their connection was believable and the issues that arise between them are believable as well. This one didn’t have any overblown drama for sure, and I really liked that it totally worked! Plus the steam! These two are crazy sexy and Roberts did a great job building that chemistry. Can we also add in the fact that Adam is a Bull Rider… Seriously, cowboys never really do it for me, but for some reason, the idea of this guy on a big angry bull… *sigh*.
The one thing I really disliked was Grant… the way he treated Jules and the way he kept forcing himself in her way… and some of the things he said. UGH… I just wanted Adam to go to town on his face a few times.
Anyway, loved this one, and completely enjoyed it and am definitely looking forward to reading about the other characters in this series!
Oh how I love a good fake boyfriend/girlfriend story-line ... yanno, cuz it always goes as planned and it rarely blows up in your face .. bwwaaaahahaha :)
Jules Rodrigez and Adam Meyer had ridiculous chemistry. It zinged right off the pages. Gawd Almighty that man could dirty talk **swoon**
At the heart of this story, what we have is a really sexy fun story that will have you smiling thru most of the pages. But it is also layered. There are struggles in this story, and not just between our MCs. Individually they have things to overcome but also as a couple. I loved these layers. It gave Jules and Adam depth and purpose. If you pay attention, you quite the story of growth, friendship, family, and love :)
I REALLY looking forward to Quinn and Denny's stories coming out later this year. Kate Roberts never fails to entertain and swoon and give you a heartwarming story well written and properly developed! #TRUTH
You can't go wrong with Katee Robert. She always writes interesting stories with hot guys you'll swoon for. Foolproof Love is the first in her brand new Foolproof Love series, and I for one am thrilled about this series.
Jules is trying to get back at her ex and what better way than hooking up with former-resident bad boy hottie Adam Meyer? All it takes is one hot kiss and both of them are hooked. They can't keep their hands off of each other, even if it started out just for show. Can their relationship turn into something more when Adam isn't staying in town, and Jules has no plans of leaving?
Fake relationships to more are some of my favorites, and this one is electrifying. Jules and Adam are hot hot hot. I love that they both knew early on that what they had going on (and boy, did they have it going on) was more than either of them expected. I could go on and on about how much I loved Adam, from his dirty talk to his devil may care attitude. Together, this couple is one of my faves, and I hope we get to see more of them in the rest of the series.
The pacing of the story was perfect, the steam was crazy-hot, and the characters are realistic and endearing. Whatever you're doing right now, take a break and read Foolproof Love--you'll seriously missing out if you don't.
I loved Foolproof Love, my interest was held from the first page until the last.
I enjoyed getting to know all the characters, they had me laughing, swooning and the chemistry between Adam and Jules was HOT!
What a great start to the Foolproof Love series, itching to get my hands on the next installments ~ Fool Me Once Aubry and Quinn's book and A Fool For You Daniel and Hope's book.
Thank you to Entangled Brazen for the advance copy.
I'm a huge fan of Katee Robert and never let a new release pass me by so I was excited about this new series. Foolproof Love is equal parts steamy, sweet and fun with major emotional undertones and was a very enjoyable read.
Jules Rodrigez is tired of the labels the folks in Devil's Fall have given her. Cat lady. Spinster. Good girl. Boring. Quirky. So what? She loves her small town and she's living her dream of owning her business even if it's not necessarily a conventional one and she hopes to settle down and have a family someday, but it certainly won't be with her entitled jerk of an ex who dumped her on his way to college ten years ago for being too boring. Now he's back and thinks she'll meekly fall in line with his plans for her. He's in for a rude awakening because boring Jules is about to set the tongues wagging as she convinces bad boy Adam Meyer to pretend to be her boyfriend to discourage her ex's advances.
Adam had been labeled by the town in his day too and those labels have remained even after twelve years away. Trouble maker. Bad boy. No staying power. Adam hasn't looked back since he left Devil's Fall years ago and he hasn't settled in any place since then either, but his mother's deteriorating health brought him back home, temporarily of course. Jules's proposition, while out of left field is something to take his mind off his worries but the chemistry between them is mind blowing and soon he is tempted to make their fake relationship a real one and is thinking about planting roots in very place he ran away from. But until Adam can come to terms with his issues and stop running, he can't be the man Jules needs or give her what she wants.
Three cheers to both Jules and Adam for breaking away from the labels and well, scandalously is the only way to go. They both showed that there was more to them than everyone saw and I liked that Adam stepped up when he needed to. I especially loved Jules because underneath the good, sweet girl was a hot tamale and Adam knew just the right buttons to push to bring her out. And the sexy times? As hot as fire.
I enjoy Ms. Robert's writing because she knows how to balance the steamy parts with the emotional upheavals her characters go through in a way that pulls the reader in. And I'll definitely be back for more from the series.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The small town of Devil's Falls is the sort of town where everyone knows what everyone else is doing within minutes - gossip spreads faster than wildfire. When Jules Rodrigez meets her ex, her high school sweetheart, the one who broke her heart when he left town with nasty demeaning comments but without a backward glance, emergency measures are called for - and put into action. She claims that Bull rider Adam Meyer, who has also just returned to town, is her boyfriend. Adam has returned to look after his Mum but has no plans to settle down, he has itchy feet and longs to put the town behind him as soon as possible. Or so he thought until Jules asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend. Their first kiss is hot enough to blow your socks off and reveals their previously undiscovered mutual attraction but their fake relationship has an end date and it is, after all, only fake- isn't it?
I really appreciate this talented author's ability to bring her characters to life in the reader's imagination. I found myself empathising with both Jules and Adam throughout the story. He's been the local bad boy, the one that left town as soon as he graduated rarely to return, but he's nowhere near as tough as some assume, he's got a heart of gold just waiting to be melted and Jules is the young woman to do that. Their relationship is hot but filled with anxieties which impact on their interactions. Jules is usually the ray of sunshine that manages to cheer everyone up but when she's down, who will help her? I also loved Aubry, the people hating best friend and defender of Jules - she's a brilliant character in her own right and I'm very pleased to discover she's to have her own novel - I can't wait to read it!
This is the fabulous first book in a new series, a series that I'm looking forward to following. This novel is definitely for adults with some steamy scenes appropriate to the Brazen line together with a well developed plot, superb characters and, like all other books I've read by this talented author, is an enthralling read that I have no hesitation in highly recommending.
Many thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for providing an ARC of this novel in exchange for this, my honest review.
This was quick, fun, sweet, sexy, and touching listen/read. Adam is a small town guy running from the past and Jules is the small town "spinster" at a young age. This quick story is part self-discovery and part feelings when Jules enlists Adam to fake a relationship to get the gossip mill in their small town to stop talking about her when her old boyfriend returns. As I said it was quick, fun, sexy, and touching.

Working my way through Katee’s backlist here—who’d have thought I’d read a cowboy romance?? I certainly didn’t expect it. But I’m here and this was cute. Very different vibe than her later books but still a well-done story.
Unfortunately, I am not sure where to start or what to say about Foolproof Love. Maybe it just wasn’t for me but, I had a hard time with the whole premise of the book, the characters and the dialogue.
Adam Meyer is the bad-boy of Devil’s Falls. Jules Rodriguez is the sweetheart of Devil’s Falls. They are a couple that nobody would ever think would be together. Especially Grant, Jules’ ex-boyfriend who unceremoniously dumped her. But, Jules moved on, opened up a Cat Coffee Shop and is living her life. When he comes back to town, she has to show him that she does not want to get back with him so she propositioned Adam and he accepted.
Adam seemed to be living with a whole lot of guilt in his life. His father left, his best friend was killed in a car accident, his mother has been sick and he has been living the life of a rodeo star. Home for the first time in a while, out with his friends and he’s propositioned. I guess it’s one way to kill the time while he’s in the one place he doesn’t want to be. But, kissing her was a mistake since he liked it just a little too much. It’s going to be a long couple of weeks playing her fake boyfriend.
Jules, trying to prove she’s not going to be a spinster cat lady to the whole town decides on a scandalous affair to change their minds and show Grant that she moved on. Unfortunately, even after Adam and Jules started dating for real, she keeps bringing him up, comparing them, looking into her future without Adam since he keeps saying that he’s leaving, again. This did not sit well with me or Adam. And, it’s one of many reasons why I had a hard time reading this story.
I also had a problem with Jules’ best friend, Aubrey. I understand quirky characters in fact, I usually like them. Aubrey was really off the wall. She doesn’t like people and she makes sure everyone knows. Sometimes she was downright rude. She’s a good friend to Jules but really needs to get a life outside of gaming.
Then there was Grant … I believe in confidence but he was just full of himself. And, ignorant. He could show up with 2 girls on his arm, but Jules can’t be with Adam … he shows up at her coffee house every day only to announce he is going to Starbucks for his coffee … he shows up on her dates with Adam and does nothing but insult her and then can’t understand why Adam threatens him. Just annoying.
As for Quinn and Daniel … I wish I knew what the back-story is between all of them … what the real story was surrounding John’s death. Why does Daniel have a chip on his shoulder? But, I would love to see Quinn’s story in print. He seems like he would just be a good time.
The story surrounding Adam’s mother and her illness also had me confused. There was a constant mention of Lenora, Amelia’s girlfriend or friend? It was portrayed both ways so I was confused as to their relationship.
I really didn’t understand how or why everything happened … maybe a novella before this was released to set up the characters? I think one of my biggest problems was the character development and the way the story flowed. The inconsistency in the story line … going from fake boyfriend to real boyfriend … a kiss to sex on the roof and anywhere they just happened to be (can’t call it erotic or sexy – it just happened) … taking up with a man just to stop the town from talking.
The one thing I am still very confused on was Jules way of thinking about her life. There was no mention throughout the story from any of the residents that happened to show up, that they thought she would end up a cat lady. I am a true proponent of strong woman … standing on their own … going for what they want. And maybe, just maybe, Jules depending on a man, lying about it, not standing up for who and what she was, is what bothered me the most.

This was the second book by Katee Robert that I read and the first in her Foolproof Love series.
My biggest problems with this novel were character development and flow.
The story was very fragile, getting a fake boyfriend just to stop the town from talking. And suddenly having sex anywhere with no sexual chemistry in my opinion. That’s why Jules wasn’t a good heroine in my opinion, it wasn’t clear what she really wanted in life. Grant was a huge pain in the butt, and I didn’t see why it was important to make him appear over and over again.
I wanted Foolproof Love to be better!
I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Have I told ya'll how much I LOVE it when the plot is a fake fiancee or fake boyfriend/girlfriend one? No, well, it is my favorite! Want to know why? Because the couple is always more open with each other when it's fake. Truly, I think that's why they fall in love because they get to know the real person behind the other person.
So, this had my favorite plot. Add to that amazing writing by Katee Robert and there was no way it could be less than 5 stars for me :) In here we have good girl Jules who's douchecanoe ex has come back to their small town and she wants nothing to do with him so she approaches newly returned town bad boy Adam and asks him to kiss her. He happily helps her out and WOAH! The sparks fly! Adam is hot. Like dirty-talking, panty-melting hot. And Jules is a breath of fresh air. Will Adam stay in town and try to make a real go of it with Jules? You need to read this and find out :)

3.5 stars This was a nice sexy contemp read. h runs a cat cafe, yes a cat cafe and H is a rodeo rider. He comes back to town because his mom is sick & she wants her obnoxious ex to stay away so they fake date. Of course as is the case in most romances the fake bit becomes real but there is his desire to leave to contend with.
I really loved Adam and Jules! Their story was sexy, steamy, sweet, and heartwarming!!
Jules loves her quaint little Texas hometown. She loves her cat cafe, her best friend/roommate, Aubrey, and her life in general; though she feels everyone in town thinks she's a spinster in training. Her high school boyfriend returns to town after law school, and throws her for a loop. She doesn't have feelings for him anymore, but for some reason, what he said when he broke up with her years ago when he left town has always stuck with her. He gets under her skin and she can't stand the idea that he thinks she's still the same old "boring" girl he's always thought.
In walks Adam. Adam is one of her cousin's best friends. They're all 7 years older than her, so she didn't really know him before he left town for the rodeo after he graduated, but in a small town, you still sort of know everybody. She sees him at a bonfire, and asks him to help her make it clear to her ex that she's moved on. He agrees. She's beautiful, and he's only back in town to spend time with his sick mother, and needs the distraction. Famous last words, right?!
Adam and Jules had chemistry like whoa from jump. That first kiss at the bonfire started a whole different kind of fire in each of them. They realize pretty early on that they like each other, and no longer really care about her ex, or anyone else. But, he's never put down roots in all his adult life, and doesn't plan to start now. Jules has nothing but roots in her small town, and would never dream of leaving.
Adam has a ton of issues from his past that he's never dealt with, and it weighs on him heavily, though he won't acknowledge it. It keeps him from being happy in his life in general. Jules is a caregiver all over. Her best friend is basketcase. She loves first person shooters, has an acerbic wit, and is a burgeoning agoraphobic. Aubrey is hilarious, and they complement each other well. But, Adam doesn't take well to Jules trying to care for him. Meanwhile, her cousin isn't thrilled about their fling, and Aubrey is often putting off the boys 3rd best friend, Quinn. He's decided he likes messing with her, and they have a constant battle of words when they're together.
I really loved everything about this book. The characters got along great, they spoke honestly, like adults, and there wasn't a lot of unnecessary drama. Katee did an amazing job, and I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for Quinn and Aubrey. Their humor and interactions throughout this story were epic. Theirs is gonna be a doozy and I am so stoked!
What can I say? I am a sucker for a sexy cowboy. And Katee Robert always gives me hot and steamy sex scenes and characters I love that make a quick story into the perfect break from reality and this book was right on the money for both.
Jules is sick of the pity she is receiving from her small town neighbours when her high school boyfriend returns to town thinking things will pick up where he left them when he left her heartbroken to go off to college. So when he corners her at a bonfire she pretends to be dating Adam.
Adam has no desire to be stuck in his home town, he is only there to check in on his sick mum before he heads back on out to the next rodeo but he is more than happy to help Jules get the town and her ex off her back and have a little fun in the deal.
The relationship between Jules and Adam was so sweet and sexy I inhaled this book. I spent the afternoon with a big smile on my face and I just couldn’t wait to see where they were going to go next and how they were going to overcome the hurdles between them and their happily ever after.
The secondary characters were awesome and the interplay between them and the main characters was so entertaining I could have stayed in Devil’s Falls for days hanging out at the cat café and chatting with the locals. Luckily I only have to wait a few weeks until the next book is released and it’s Quinn and Aubry. Wooo Hooo.
If you know me then you know I am a sucker for pretend boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. So when I saw this book up for review I was all over it like white on rice! I've read one other book from this author and I enjoyed it. This book was no different. It was fast paced, I liked the hero and heroine and how they interacted with each other. And the sexual tension... Wowza!!
Adam is back in his small home town due to the failing health of his mother and he is not tom happy about it. Well, till he meets the beautiful and quirky Jules, who cant imagine living anywhere else but the small town of Devil's hill. She has roots that good deep into the ground there and also a thriving cat cafe. In an attempt to make her ex high school boyfriend jealous ( he left her for bigger and better places) she tells a white lie that she is dating Adam, the town bad boy. This begins the sexy journey of these two silly kids. What started out as trying to make ex's jealous and giving the town something to talk about became a safe haven for these two. It may of started out fake but what resulted was nothing sort of real deep love.
I love watched these two give into each other and the feelings that were fast developing between Adam and Jules. He was sweet and caring towards her and she gave him a shoulder to lean on during his mothers illness. Adam soon realized that it's not where you are that makes a home but who you have in your life that's home. Adam was sexy, strong, and build for some dirty dirty things. Jules gave and good as she got too, which made her just all the more perfect for Adam.
I can't wait to see where this series goes and who else will get hit by cupid's love arrows. The author defiantly set up a great cast of secondary characters That I'm just itching to find out more about. I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for their 8 second ride with a wild, dirty talking bull-rider.

A new series by Katee Robert? Yes please! One thing I love about Ms. Robert's stories is that they are creative and different. I haven't read a book by her yet that I didn't enjoy. In her new series, Foolproof Love, Robert takes two different characters, throws in a fake relationship which equals to a forever lasting kind of love.
Jules is tired of what everyone thinks of her. So what she's single and has a great business but when her ex returns to town she is ready to give everyone something to talk about. It just so happens Adam is at the right place and the right time and he's willing to help.
Adam is only home to help take care of his mother and he knows soon he will be headed back out of town. When Jules asks him for a favor he agrees but after just a few kisses things start to become very real in and out of the bedroom. Can Jules help get Adam to stay?
This story was cute, sweet and oh how the pages steamed up when they were together. It had everything I enjoyed reading in a romance. Hot guy? Check. Likable heroine? Check. Lots of fun and interesting secondary characters? Check. But most of all I really enjoyed how the main characters built their relationship. At times they made it seem easy and effortless to be together because that's really how great they were together but when the going got tough I loved how Adam stepped it up a notch.
One of my things in this story was the cat cafe and I thought that was really awesome. I'm not sure if they have those in some places but if they did I would definitely go. Hell maybe I would open one! Lol
If you love Robert's writing and the creativity she brings to her characters you won't want to miss Foolproof Love. This was an excellent first book to what looks like a promising new series!
I love Katee Robert's books. I always equate them with an icecream sundae on a hot summer day or the like - exactly what you wanted with all the right components. Foolproof Love kicks off this fantastic series, and I loved Jules and Adam's exciting love story.
I really just loved everything about Foolproof Love. The characters, the story, it all just worked. Jules owns a cat cafe - which I think is about the coolest thing ever, and Adam is the bull rider who never comes home. They make some pretty magical fireworks together, and damn, can Katee Robert write a good love scene.
The secondary characters add a lot to the plot. Aubry, Jules's best friend, was an absolute hoot, and I cannot WAIT to read her story in Fool Me Once! Adam's relationship with his mom was also really touching.
Everything about this book screams right. This is easily one of my favorite Katee Roberts books; though, I find picking favorites with her books a hard task. If you want spend an afternoon with a gal who is so much more than everyone is expecting of her and a hot guy who is capable of being more than what the gossip mill says, look no further than Foolproof Love.
3.5* Jules needs a boyfriend stat when her ex comes waltzing back to town. See, Grant dumped her because she wanted to stay in her small town and he wasn't (and I think he thought she was a little tame/boring too). He was her first love. Now Grant is back to work for/take over his daddy's business. Adam happens to be in town to help his mother who was just diagnosed with cancer. Adam happens to have a reputation as the town's "bad boy." He is also friends with Jules' cousin Daniel. There is also a 3rd friend, Quinn in the group of friends (there is underlying trauma d/t absent father and death of a friend in a car accident (John, John's sister Hope was also severly injured in that same crash). Jules asks Adam to fake date her. What begins as fake dating and insta-lust blossoms into lovers. Both characters compliment the other and allow each to have moments where they shine. I loved that Jules owns a cat café. Her BFF Aubry is interesting as well (she is the next book; she's antisocial and has severe anxiety in crowds, she's a gamer. Not sure what she does for a job- she's always at the café or home.) I do wish Jules would have cared less what Grant thought and it takes her time to get to not caring. Ripped Bodice Bingo is back! This is for the "This Dating Thing is Fake, Isn't It?" square.
This was a cute little fake relationship story. I liked the way that Adam and Jules started the whole thing. While the plot was a little far-fetched at times, I enjoyed their relationship progression. I just needed it to be a little longer to do it true justice.
Also, Jules owns a cat cafe and the whole time she talked about people eating/drinking in the cafe while handling cats, I just kept thinking...does anyone wash their hands in the process? It just sounds gross.
Anyway, this was short but cute and I think I probably enjoyed it the most out of the three books in the series. I read them out of order and read this one last.
this was such a cute small town fake dating romance, i really enjoyed both characters and they’re amazing communication just made me love them!! one thing katee gon do is have some good spice 😏
