To Murder Alice (it's a rough translation) by Yasumi Kobayashi is my first novel by this author and oh boy, what a waste of interesting ideas and story concept!
The main concept of the story revolves around a highly unlikely Alice in Wonderland's retelling/re-imagining. I'm impressed by how this idea is intertwined with a serial murder case which takes place in the 'real world' with 'Alice' being the prime suspect and how she must catch the real murderer before he/she gets to her.
All these setups mentioned above are highly refreshing, plus the book cover is great! But for most of the book I don't give a shit about those characters, Alice's relationship with the other Wonderland's characters never standout, the description about the Wonderland is also never fresh out, the explanation to the murder mystery is lukewarm at best (although one of the final plot twist is good). I'm very disappointed. So, 1.5 stars only.

"Thế giới không kết thúc, nó chỉ là kết thúc của một giấc mơ."
"Đối với chúng tôi, giấc mơ này là cả thế giới."
Đầu tiên là mình rất biết ơn dịch giả bản tiếng Trung của cuốn sách này, vì những chú thích trong sách. Tác giả chơi chữ trong tên nhân vật, các đoạn đối thoại nhiều lần nhưng nó không phải quá thú vị hay quan trọng; có đề cập đến nội dung của phần "Through the Looking-Glass" trong khi mình chỉ mới đọc phần "In Wonderland".
謀殺愛麗絲 đề cập đến thế giới song song, khi cô sinh viên đại đọc Kurisagawa Ari liên tục có những chuỗi giấc mơ về Xứ thần tiên - nơi cô gặp được những nhân vật trong tác phẩm của nhà văn Lewis Caroll. Mọi chuyện ban đầu vốn chỉ như sự trùng hợp, cho tới khi Ari phát hiện những người ở Thế giới thực có cái chết tương đồng với những nhân vật trong giấc mơ của cô. Giờ đây xen kẽ nhau giữa "thực" và "mơ", Ari phải nhanh chóng tìm ra hung thủ bởi vì cô đang bị cho là nghi phạm ở giấc mơ kia.
Điều duy nhất mình thích là tác giả có một vài miêu tả đáng sợ về cái chết, nhất là đoạn "biến to" của Alice - mình có thể tưởng tượng được cảnh đó ra sao.
Đa số những gì diễn ra trong sách là đối thoại, và mình thực sự là tác giả đã khiến mình khó chịu như lúc mình đọc Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, những nhân vật trong cuốn sách này nhất là những nhân vật ở giấc mơ có những đối thoại khiến mình khó chịu, nó dai dẳng, lan man kinh khủng. Diễn biến cũng chẳng có gì đặc sắc, mình thấy bình thường với mọi thứ, nhân vật không có ai nổi bật.
So với quyển 爱丽丝罪恶奇境 mình đã đọc có ý tưởng tương tự về "Alice in Wonderland", thì mình thấy ít nhất quyển này ổn hơn ở việc giấc mơ có tác động đến Thế giới thực. Nhưng tiếc là cách xây dựng của tác giả không khiến mình hài lòng, những diễn biến cứ trôi tuột đi, và khi mình đến với sự thật thì mình lại không thấy ngạc nhiên. Những lý giải của truyện khiến mình thấy thời gian đọc bị lãng phí. Được cái là nó có chút đáng sợ hơn tác phẩm gốc của Lewis Caroll, nhưng cái kết đối với mình quá khó chịu vì màn gây hài vô nghĩa.

ไม่มีความสนุกเลย ทรมานมากกว่าจะอ่านจบ เนื้อเรื่องสะเปะสะปะไปหมด คนแปลเก่งมาก ยอมรับเลยคนแปลแปลได้ไงวะ อ่านถึงหน้า 224 ถึงรู้สึกอยากติดตามต่อให้จบ

เป็นเล่มน่าเสียดาย มีองค์ประกอบดีๆ อย่าง
1) พล็อตดี : นำแฟนซีสุดฮิตอย่างอลิซมาประกอบกับโลกปัจจุบัน มีการฆาตกรรมเกิดขึ้นในโลกแฟนซีกับโลกจริงผ่านความฝัน
2) ฉากฆาตกรรม : พอมีบทแฟนซีเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้องทำให้บางฉากมีความโหดเหนือจริงมากขึ้น เรียกได้ว่าใช้องค์ประกอบแฟนซีได้ดี
แต่สิ่งที่น่าเสียดายเลยคือ เคมีตัวละคร จริงๆ ตอนแรกก็ดีนะ แบบช่วงตามหาพันธมิตรโลกจริง แต่กับตัวละครหลังๆ ที่โดนฆาตกรรมเหมือนมันยัดไปหน่อย อารมณ์อยากให้มีตัวละครในโลกแฟนซีครบๆ ทำให้ไม่ได้ผูกพันหรือรู้สึกมีส่วนร่วมกับตัวละครเท่าไร กับเรื่องการดำเนินเรื่องที่เราคงคาดหวังความหวือหวากว่านี้หน่อย แต่พอเป็นการสลับการหาตัวคนร้ายทั้งในแบบสองโลกมันเลยทำให้ดูซ้ำๆ ช้ำๆ ไปหน่อย
โดยรวมเลยเป็นเล่มที่น่าเสียดาย เหมือนจะทำข้าวผัดกุ้ง ใช้ข้าวจากอากิตะ กุ้งทะเลสดๆ แต่พอผัดแล้วมันไม่ร่วน ข้าวผัดเลยแฉะเป็นท้อ แต่บางคนอาจจะชอบข้าวผัดแฉะๆ เราแค่ชอบข้าวผัดร่วนๆ อะแง

Subtil, imaginatif, délirant (à la Lewis Carroll) avec sa dose d'absurde (extra !), un hommage très réussi à Alice au Pays des Merveilles et bien d'autres références littéraires, dans un mélange détonnant et inattendu de polar et de surréalisme. Ingénieux ! Une très belle découverte !

ตอนอ่านเรื่องย่อแล้วรู้สึกว่าน่าจะชอบนะ คอนเซ็ปโลกสองใบที่เชื่อมโยงกัน โลกมนุษย์กับโลกนิทาน ความตายในโลกใบหนึ่งจะส่งผลต่ออีกโลกเช่นกัน เออ มันดูน่าสนใจดี
ช่วงแรกเราชอบนะ
แม้ตอนอ่านน่ะ จะรู้สึกว่า เนื้อเรื่องมันดูบ้าๆ หลุด ๆ บทสนทนาพูดอะไรสะเปะสะปะ อาจเพราะใช้โลกของนิยายอลิซในดินแดนมหัศจรรย์ ซึ่งนิทานเดิมมันก็หลุดโลก ภาษาคำพูดตัวละครก็แปลก ๆ หลุด ๆ อยู่แล้ว
แต่พออ่านไป เรื่องจะค่อย ๆ แก้คดีฆาตกรรมพร้อมกับปริศนาการเชื่อมโยงโลกสองใบ ความชอบของเราเหมือนจะลดลงเรื่อย ๆ
และพออ่านจนจบก็ให้ไปทางไม่ชอบเท่าไหร่เลย

I really found myself enjoying the beginning of the novel, the premise was fresh and interesting with a fun twist on Alice in Wonderland and a whodunit mystery, but by the time the novel was reaching its conclusion, and it felt like 6 different plot twists one after another trying to impress me with how clever it was, I got really bored. The writing isn't witty enough to carry the amount of dialogue that gets expelled at you constantly, the characters feel as flat as those from a children’s book but expect me to care about them beyond a surface "Good Guy" "Bad Guy" level, and god the barrage of twists near the end got so exhausting as each one felt a little more stupid than the last.
They do the same kind of twist three times, and it gets kinda annoying how much they rely on it, because the first time was kinda interesting if a bit predictable, but by THE THIRD PERSON HAVING THE SAME KIND OF TWIST, ITS A BIT FRUSTRATING! It also doesn't help how a Chekhov's gun that’s set up early gets forgotten by the narrative for so long, but by virtue it was established at all, I knew it had to come back and when it did, it felt really obvious how it was gonna be used. Somehow, this novel kept being predictable despite having an unpredictable setup and premise, that’s almost the most impressive part of the mystery, but that's not a good aspect for a mystery that you can see what it's going to do constantly because of how trite a lot of its decisions are.
I also found the use of Wonderland as a setting really lacklustre; it never grabs the imagination that it really should for a place so bizarre and strange feels tepid and mundane. Earths no better, as it never really visualises where anything is in a sense of space, my mind for most the novel imagined most encounters taking place in a white void of nothing where people just bickered back and forth for however long until we switched back to the other place to repeat the process. A novel can get away with just being a lot of dialouge if that dialogue is good, but it just isn't that engaging. It tries too hard to be quirky and strange, but it comes off as annoying and repetitive more often than not.
I feel bad being so critical of this novel, because it's not irredeemable or doesn't do anything offensively bad with what it's working with, it just commits the sin of being a excellent idea with subpar execution that ends up being boring, and sometimes something being bad is better than being boring. Apologies to my friends who really love this novel, I just couldn't stand it at some point.
PS: I realised I never mentioned this and am adding it retroactively, I am not a prude when it comes to gore or really violent media, I lap up the saw franchise as one of my favourites despite how dumb and excessive it is, but even I found the amount of time spent on the gore and violence in this to be excessive to a point it's a little uncomfortable. The last 20ish pages are the worst offender of this for sure, as It felt like it just went on and on and on, and it felt like the author was really, REALLY proud of this moment for how "earned"(?) it was, but it came off as really childish and strange.

One of the most fun reads I've had with a Japanese novel in a long time!
Right from the start the witty dialogue and play with words, akin to the original Alice in Wonderland, was enjoyable and engrossing.
The mystery was also pretty good with clues scattered throughout the story. But even though I was able to guess some things, other twists surprised me.
As 85% of this book is dialogue, I'd say the Japanese is great for N3-N2 level, although there were some advanced words and kanji scattered throughout.
I think you also need to know the original Alice in Wonderland story to get the most out of this book. (I still remember most of the story from the Disney movie and ended up Googling the parts I didn't know/remember.)

Chẳng biết có nhà nào định đem cuốn này về không, nhưng Min thì đã dịch xong nó sang tiếng Việt ~
Hơn 400 trang A5, với độ dày và độ nhảm này thì chắc cũng hiếm nhà nào đem về nếu có cách để truyền thông nó lên? Ban đầu mong cốt truyện sẽ dày đặc ẩn dụ hoặc kiểu dảk bủn lmao hơn nhưng hoá ra cũng cũng.
Sẽ như thế nào khi tồn tại thứ giả lập gần giống như thế giới song song phiên bản giấc mơ, khi mà ở cả hai thế giới ta đều lầm tưởng rằng cái thế giới bên kia chỉ là mơ mà thôi? Khi một người chết ở thế giới bên này thì đồng thời phiên bản kết nối của người đó ở thế giới kia cũng sẽ chết, để rồi có kẻ lợi dụng sơ hở đó mà giết người ở cái thế giới mà luật pháp và con người ngu ngốc hơn - chính là thế giới dựa trên Alice ở xứ sở thần tiên, để thế giới thực tại né hoàn hảo vòng lao lý.
Giết Alice không phải một dị bản của Alice ở xứ sở thần tiên, mà chính xác hơn là dựa vào Alice ở xứ sở trong gương để tạo nên một thế giới trinh thám giật gân. Một điểm khó chịu khi đọc đó là các nhân vật ở thế giới Alice rất đần, các cuộc hội thoại vô cùng ngốc nghếch, xong rồi để khi các nhân vật dần lẫn lộn hai thế giới thì nhân vật ở xứ sở Trái Đất cũng đần và dở hơi theo luôn.
Ban đầu thấy cũng khá khá, kiểu đọc giải trí vui vui, ai ngờ tới đoạn cuối có cái twist mình không quá đoán được kèm với các tình tiết vừa đau đớn thể xác vừa hài nên đọc khá phấn khích ~> không tới mức là sách giật gân cho trẻ con đâu nè. Các đoạn miêu tả tra tấn hay hành hạ đọc mà thấy đau nha.
Bạn min vừa dịch xong, ai muốn đọc thì donate min tẹo tiền lẻ đi min gửi cho đọc chung vui 🫶🏻
✨ Ngoài ra series này có 4 tập nội dung không liên quan nhau lần lượt là Giết Alice, Giết Clara (trong bộ Girl of the Alps í), Giết Dorothy (Phù thuỷ xứ Oz), Giết Tinker Bell (thấy giới thiệu là thằng Peter Pan là sát nhân hàng loạt). Min có 2 tập đầu thôi vì được tặng cũng từ 4 năm trước rồi huhu mà giờ khi một bạn gái người Nhật xinh xẻo đáng yêu bảo đọc thử thì mới lôi ra đọc ạ...

I really LOVE "Alice in Wonderland". So, naturally, I had high hopes for this book.
But...... MEH.
不思議国のアリスは好き。現実世界と夢の世界がリンクしているという設定も好き。
そして、というどんでん返しもよかった。
けれど、何だろう。微妙。

I personally think the author was high on something while writing this book. It leans more to fit in a fantasy genre. So, it led you to take deeper meanings.
I liked how the author brought philosophical thoughts on how to describe their world, but it was quite nut for bringing too much terms and only few of them were used. Basically, I found it quite an overactive imagination.
Still, the murderer was cruel and had whatever his/her own reasoning to justify each attempt of murder.
I definitely love the plot twist even though it did not give me a jaw-drop reaction.

Nhưng bên cạnh đó cũng có những phân đoạn khiến t rùng mình vì thật sự nó tởm lắm ý hic hic , kiểu sốc huhuhuhuhuhuuhuh không khác gì xem phim kinh dị trên nền nhạc thiếu nhi. Nói sao nhỉ đây là một cuốn sách hấp dẫn đủ sức cuốn hút nhưng nói là hay thì cũng ko hẳn nhưng phải công nhận trí tưởng tượng của tác giả vừa đỉnh vừa ảo vc nhiều lúc đọc mà kiểu uầy sao nghĩ đc hay vậy ta . Một cuốn sách đáng đọc để giải trí🤭
Sau khi đọc xong t phải xách dép gấp gáp đi đọc thử qua Alice in wonderland vì những nhân vật quá đỗi ám ảnh ~ À quên mất trong cuốn này nhân vật t thích nhất là Imori (hay còn gọi là Bill) ở xứ sở thần tiên Bill là con thằn lằn ( loài động vật t ghét nhất ) nhưng ở trái đất lại là một cậu trai có vẻ gì đó lạnh lùng nhưng lại sắc bén và thông minh thật sự lúc đầu mới đọc t thấy bình thường nhưng càng đọc cái sự trái ngược của bản dạng ở cả 2 thế giới của Imori (Bill) làm t cảm thấy kích thích và đáng yêu vô cùng ko hiểu sao nữa nhưng t thích nhân vật này lắm ý ,huhuhhuh cũng vì Bill mà t quyết định cho lên 3⭐ đó hic mún biết thêm nhiều thứ về Bill.
1 chút hách não , 1 chút kì quặc , 1 chút ngốc nghếch , 1 chút ghê rợn tất cả hoà trộn lại khiến cho cảm xúc trong t đc thư thái đúng lúc , đc đẩy lên đỉnh điểm đúng chỗ . ตอนแรกเกือบจะยอมแพ้แล้ว เพราะพูดจาวนไปวนมา ย้ำคำพูดเดิมซ้ำๆ เข้าใจแหละว่าอยากให้ดูเสียสติสมกับอยู่ในวันเดอร์แลนด์ แต่นี่มันมากเกินไปจนชวนน่ารำคาญ
พออดทนอ่านจนถึงช่วงกลางค่อนไปทางท้าย กลับสนุกเฉย ตัวละครที่เราเดาเอาไว้กลับตาลปัตรไปหมดเลย ทำเอาเราเซอร์ไพร์สได้แทบทุกครั้งที่ออกมาเปิดเผยตัว
คนที่ชอบก็จะชอบเล่มนี้มาก เพราะคนเขียนมีความกวนประสาท มีความโหด (มาก) เวลาบรรยายฉากฆาตกรรม
ส่วนคนที่ไม่ชอบ อ่านบทแรกแล้วไม่สปาร์กจอยถ้าจะวางลงแล้วมูฟออนไปต่อเล่มอื่นก็ไม่ผิดอะไร เพราะเค้าเขียนสไตล์นี้ทั้งเล่มค่ะ

Great plot twist! The authors ideas were beyond my expectations, and each chapter was mind blowing. But I'll honestly say that I got tired of endless conversations. It almost seemed like the characters were floating in the air. There weren't any character development. Not even descriptive. The only descriptive part was the gory deaths.The author lacks basic writing skills, but for the ideas I would give 5 stars. 1 star for overall writing skills.

이 책을 고른 이유는 2가지이다. 첫째, 우리가 알던 그 앨리스가 제목에 있어서. 둘째, '죽이기'라는 단어가 눈에 띄어서. 아마 이 책을 고른 저자들도 비슷하게 생각하리라 믿는다. 이 책은 추리 소설로 분류되는 것 같다. 적당히 무섭고, 머리도 굴려지는, 추천하고 싶은 책이다. 스포하기 싫어서.... 그래서 이렇게만 말하고 싶다. "마지막 부분은 심장이 멎었다가, 엔딩을 보고 다시 살아 돌아왔다고..." P.S 초등학교 고학년 정도부터 추천하고 싶다. 그럼 이 책을 읽고 즐기기를!

The book “Murdering Alice” (translated in English) has explicit descriptions and unpredictable twists and thrills that disallows your brain or heart to even imagine what would be the end of the book. Totally recommended. It breaks my heart that the author of this book passed away.

สำหรับเล่มนี้ปกสวย เนื้อเรื่อง+พล็อตถือว่าน่าสนใจพล็อต สืบสลับหาตัวคนร้ายสองโลก ความรู้สึกคือแรกดูสับสนอลหม่าน อ่านไปเดี๋ยวเข้าที่เข้าทางเอง เห็นว่าในซีรีส์มีเล่มอื่นด้วย อาทิฆ่าคลาร่า /โดโรธี /ทิงเกอร์เบลล์(อิงตัวเอกเด็กผู้หญิงในวรรณกรรม) คงต้องติดตามดูว่าวิธีการเล่าของเล่มอื่นจะแตกต่างกันหรือไม่

ตัวเอกคืออาริ(แน่นอนว่าพ้องเสียงกับอลิซ) สาวนักศึกษามหาลัยที่ค้นพบความจริงอันน่าตกใจ ในเหตุการณ์ที่รุ่นพี่ของเธอตกตึกเสียชีวิต ดันมีความสอดคล้องกับในฝันที่พบว่าตัวละครฮัมป์ตี ดัมป์ตี(มนุษย์ไข่ในเรื่องอลิซ)ตกจากกำแพงตายมีเงื่อนงำเช่นกัน กลายเป็นว่าใครที่ตายในความฝัน ชีวิตจริงก็จะตายจริงไป

J'ai adoré ! Une première lecture de littérature japonaise et un vrai coup de cœur ! Deux mondes parallèles pour résoudre des meurtres, entre réalité et pays des merveilles, où se cache la vérité ? J'ai adoré cette appropriation du monde de Lewis Carroll ! Une vraie pépite pour qui aime les enquêtes perchées aussi hautes que le chapelier !
