Trent Carrington.
Trent Mr. Perfect-Has-Everyone-Fooled Carrington.
He’s the star quarterback, university scholar, and happens to be the sexiest man I’ve ever seen. He shines at any angle, and especially under the Saturday night stadium lights where I watch him from the sidelines. But I know the real him, the one who broke my heart and pretended I didn’t exist for the past two years.
I’m the third-string kicker, the only woman on the team and nothing better than a mascot. Until I’m not. Until I get my chance to earn a full scholarship and join the team as first-string. The only way I'll make the cut is to accept help from the one man I swore never to trust again. The problem is, with each stolen glance and lingering touch, I begin to realize that trusting Trent isn’t the problem. It’s that I can’t trust myself when I’m around him.

This is a full-length, sweet, hot, safe, standalone American football romance novel.

★★★★ 1/2! Kicked (stand-alone). College football, first loves & second chances with a Girl Kicker & a star Quarterback!

“My cock was hard enough to fuck a hole through a sheet of plywood.”

Kicked (stand-alone) opens up to student and third-string kicker Cordelia Elaine Baxter, Cordy becoming the new kicker for her college football team.

Star quarterback, student and heir Trent McKinley Carrington becomes Cordy’s biggest crusader offering to coach her while relentlessly trying to seduce her. Due to their history, to unfold with story, Cordy is hesitant towards the charming and cocky Trent.

It’s beautifully told slow brewing romance of sport, sexy times, coming of age, sabotage, betrayal, secrets, the healing power of forgiveness and the sweet taste of victory

Seven words to describe Trent McKinley Carrington: Honorable, determined, charming, supportive, possessive, loyal and protective.

Seven words to describe Cordelia Elaine Baxter, Cordy: Independent, lonely, reflecting, smart, determined, naïve and easy-going.

Kicked, told from dual POVs, is a mixture of sport romance and second chance at first love. It ends victoriously but I’d welcome a glimpse further into their future.

Sexy! Fast paced! Compelling heroine! Oh so sweet hero!

This is a second chance love story. Trent walked away from Cordy and while I'm not a fan of his reasons, I can see why he did it. His feelings for her never changed and now that he's got his life better sorted and an opportunity with her on the same team, he's not going to let her get away. The plot was good overall but I struggled in the beginning to connect to the story. It starts off a little slow. I honestly wasn't sure I was going to end up liking it. It got really interesting when Trent and Cordy moved forward in their relationship. After that, I was fully engaged and interested. There was both internal and external conflict covered. I liked the concept of a woman on a male college team, even if the original motivation for the change by the college wasn't all that altruistic. It was different from the norm and all the better for it. I liked that the characters showed depth and growth. The couple was sexy as hell together. I mean scorching! All in all a good read. If you're not sure about it in the beginning just hang on a little longer and you might be pleasantly surprised. Safety: No OM/Sharing. There is an OW but nothing happens with her. No rape/abuse.

This book is not what I've expected. It's definitely a pleasant surprise, that's for sure!

In general I really liked it. It's a fun read where two young people missed their first chance at their happiness but luckily fate gives them another chance at finding just that together. This is not a short read and I enjoyed that, since we do get to see what happened in their past that led them to this point in their lives and throuout their journey we see them grow, struggle, forgive, fight and love together.

Trent stole my heart! He's so sweet and such a great character. Yes, he has flaws, just like a normal person but the difference is that he tries to be better and right the wrong that he's done in his past. He adores and cherishes Cordy so much and I loved how he also helped her as a team member. His family is definitely old school and have his expectations of him but I'm glad it all turned all right for him. But he had to fight to get what he wanted and that's what matters most.
As for Cordy, she's awesome! She isn't giving in to him at first sight and she definitely didn't forget what he's done in the past, so go girl for that! She has a feisty character but can be also woundable at the same time. Their chemistry is amazing and I'm so happy for them that they got their second chance!

Also, their friends are quite likable, yes, sometimes you wanted to slap them but who doesn't have friends like that. Because I know I do... All in all, the plot is great but the only thing that I felt was rushed is the ending. Other than that the story is a really fun read. :)

Genre: Sports Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Cordelia (Cordy) Baxter's first love was soccer but desperate time called for desperate measure and landed her on the football field instead. Coming from a poor family, she needed the partial football scholarship even just as decorations. But luck was not on her side and she risked losing her scholarship unless she made the team as first string player.

Trent Carrington was the star quarterback of the team. Two years prior he broke Cordy's heart and had been hated by her ever since. He found a way to possibly get into her good grace, but with her heart guarded, he needed to plan a strong offense in order to win her back.

I've read several of the author's books and expected this one to be light and funny as her previous works, but I was pleasantly surprised by the different tone in this one. Besides the usual sexiness, it was also somewhat sweet and lightly angsty.

I didn’t care if it made me a cave man. I wanted her to feel my possession the same way I felt hers over me.

Trent was quite a dreamy character. He was born into wealth, yet he never flaunt it. He's definitely not your typical alpha asshole but that didn't make him any less attractive. Sometimes good guys are as satisfying as the bad boys.

Her quiet nature, the determination that burned in her heart, and her compassion drew me to her.

Cordy was an admirable character. I like how she had lady balls and not afraid to play with the boys (pun partially intended :p). Even though she was guarded and sometimes blinded of her surroundings, she was willing to take chances.

Trent and Cordy had good chemistry. I've always love seeing vulnerabilities in characters and both of them had a good amount to balance each other out. It took a while for the sexy part to happened, but once it did, I can assure you'd be fully satisfied lol!

I also like the supporting characters especially her best friend Landon. I wish there was more of him.

How did I manage to go from broken-hearted, to angry, to happy to see him, to wanting to kill him in the space of ten minutes? It was like emotional whiplash, and Trent was the sole cause.

Kicked is football romance about two individuals giving love a chance the second time around. With a tinge of sweetness and angst, paired with a whole lot of sexiness, it would surely appeal to many romance lovers.

Overall Opinion: This was enjoyable for what it was. Is it going on my favorites list? No. It definitely had a similar feel of one of my favorites, Sweet Home, with the -- but it also had a lot of differences. It was kind of fun having the h being on the team with the H, so I appreciate the author stepping out of the box with that. I did have some big issues with how easily the conflicts got tied up. I thought they were some pretty substantial conflicts, but all of them were pretty easily resolved and then (what felt like) shoved under the rug . I found that really frustrating, and really unrealistic tbh (and the biggest reason for my lower rating).

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Cordy and Trent's story. Cordy is the token female on the football team as the 3rd string kicker. After some injuries and a big fail, Cordy finds herself needing to work hard to earn the 1st string position. Trent sees this as an opportunity to fix the mistake that separated them 2 years earlier, and offers to help her out with her kick. Old feelings return, and they end up together. There is some family and friend drama and some hot sexy times...but they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Cordy and Trent's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I thought it flowed well, and I never skimmed.

Instalove: No. There were some strong residual feelings left from before their separation though.

H rating: 4 stars. Trent. I liked him. He was in a bad situation when they separated, but more than made up for it later IMO.

h rating: 3 stars. Cordy. She was just ok *shrugs*

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate. This was hotter than I expected, but I don't think that the scenes were at the point that they took away from the storyline.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Kind of. Mentions of birth control. No mention of std status that I remember or previous practices for the H.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had decent closure with a cute epilogue. It's what I would call a HFN ending, but some might be just fine with it and call it a HEA .

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: I'd say that this is probably Safe for most readers.

I have to start off by saying that prior to reading Kicked, I'd completely misjudged what this book was going to be like. I half expected one of the dime a dozen athlete/step brother/billionaire romances that overrun my kindle unlimited feed. What I got instead was a well written and thoughtful story that managed to completely surprise me.

For the millionth time, I cursed myself for ruining things with her two years ago. But I could fix it. I would do anything in my power to make her see me again the way she had then—with bright eyes and a trusting heart.

Trent Harrington made the biggest mistake of his life two years ago and subsequently, the one that got away, Cordelia "Cordy" Baker, does her best to avoid him completely. Easier said then done considering Trent is their college football team's star quarterback and Cordy is the team's third string kicker. Suspend the disbelief, people, and work with me here.

When Cordy's given the opportunity to try out for the first string kicker position, Trent offers to help train her. It'll come as a surprise to no one that while helping Cordy is part of the plan, showing her how he really feels is Trent's main goal. But can Cordy ever manage to forgive and move on?

My first thought while reading this was that Trent was moving up my book boyfriend list and that I'm a total cougar. I have no fucks to give because Trent is just that perfect. Yes, homeboy made some bad choices in his younger years but I forgave him fairly quickly when his story was finally laid out.

It's rare that I end up liking the female protagonist almost as much as the male, but Cordy turned out to be an exception to that rule. When their story got going I thought these two were fabuloius together.

Kicked is exactly why I love goodreads. I probably never would've given this a shot, so to all of my friends that enjoyed this and gave it a shout out, thank you!

Cordelia “Cordy” Baxter is a college student that comes from a working class coalmining town. Having always played soccer, and due to Title 9 criticism, Cordy secures a spot as a Kicker on the football team earning her a partial athletic scholarship. Being on the team isn’t easy since she is known mostly as the “Mav” but it’s also difficult because she is constantly around the one person she wishes to erase from her heart.

“He’d been beautiful when we’d first met, his boyish good looks the first step in my downfall.”

Trent Carrington is the star Quarterback and with his dark hair, green eyes and an easy smile with the brains to back it up, Trent is every campus girl’s dream. With his athletic ability, his future in the NFL is pretty much a done deal. However, two years ago Trent made a decision that impacted his love life much to his chagrin. Now that he’s a bit older and wiser, he is determined not to make the same mistake twice.

“I was going to get the chance I’d been dreaming about for two years. I had so much to tell her, so many things to explain.”

Being in his senior year, Trent can no longer ignore his feelings for Cordy and tries to resurrect the connection they both previously shared. Knowing this task is not going to be easy, when Trent sees an opportunity with Cordy he takes full advantage of their private time. However, Cordy is prepared to maintain a platonic distance from Trent because she will not be hurt again by his love ‘em and leave ‘em ways.

“In his place, there was a man who kissed like the devil and made me stupid with just one look.”

description

As Trent and Cordy spend time together, she slowly learns more about Trent’s decision and what he really represents. By giving him another chance, Cordy opens her heart hoping this time it’s permanent.

“I don’t think I can stop if we start this. Understand? I want you so bad it hurts.”

Wowzie! There were times in this book when I felt hurt, angst, lust, need and the strong connection between Trent and Cordy. Their story is passionate, tender and full of firsts etching every moment in their timeline. To feel that overcoming sense of love is moving but also anxious because these characters are vulnerable to their emotion. Immediately, I liked Trent and Cordy and with alternating first person POVs, it only strengthened my empathy with their roles. I am a sucker for second chance romances and I was rooting for them throughout the entire book!

In Kicked, Celia Aaron continues to dazzle with her prose and ability to draw the reader into her written world. If you are looking for a romance with a good dose of love and determination, I recommend Kicked!

KICKED by Celia Aaron was a quick, sweet second chance sports romance. If you are like me and is a BIG BIG fan of football, then you are in for a treat because Ms. Aaron has given her readers a love story that weaves football, passion, and forgiveness.

#Kicked

Trent Carrington has it all from the looks, money, and confidence. He is Mr. Quarterback that can go pro. But one thing Trent doesn’t have is the girl that he let get away. Or more precisely the girl he left brokenhearted. Two years has passed and Trent is finally making his move to win back the girl that he loves.

Cordy Baxter is the female kicker of the football team. She is on the team so she can maintain a scholarship to help ease with her tuition. Kicking is the least of Cordy’s problem especially when she has to see Trent Carrington everyday. So when she tries out to be first-string kicker in order to get a full scholarship, she didn’t expect Trent to help. Spending more time with Trent began to resurface old feelings she had for him. Will Trent be able to kick his way into her heart? Or will she be kicking him to the sidelines?

Kicked was definitely your fast paced sports romance. It was definitely straightforward, predictable, and sweet. This book left you feeling happy that Cordy and Trent were able to work through their issues and kicked past two years of heartbreak. So if you are looking for a sexy and cute sports romance then this book might be for you.

I absolutely loved the romance in this one! Cordy & Trent were such a cute couple, and I really enjoyed them finding their way back to one another. I especially liked that we got glimpses of the past. My main problem with second chance romance is a disconnect to the couple because I didn't get to see the beginning of the relationship. I think this one worked so well because a) we did get those snippets of the past, and b) their relationship was very fresh when it ended, so there was still a lot of room for their relationship to grow.

The one thing I love about second chance romances (when necessary) is a good grovel <3 <3 <3 I absolutely love to see a guy crawling around on his hands and knees, all pathetic and "whipped"-like. Maybe this is weird, but when done right, it's awesome and just shows me how much he loves her. So I was thrilled that the story began with Trent and Cordy on the same football team, Cordy desperately trying to ignore him and Trent relentlessly pursuing her.

description

Trent made a mistake, one he's still paying for...
"For the millionth time, I cursed myself for ruining things with her two years ago. But I could fix it. I would do anything in my power to make her see me again the way she had then—with bright eyes and a trusting heart."
But he doesn't give up, he gives a great chase until Cordy will hear him out. And while he does have a reason, he doesn't use it has an "excuse." He owns up to the fact that his reason was wrong and that he should have chose differently.

description

But Cordy is still hesitant. She doesn't want her heart broken again...
"Of course Trent left. That was his thing. Like a catch phrase or a signature style. If Trent Carrington had a calling card, it was that he always walked away first."
She slowly lets him back in and once she has the full story, they commit to each other, providing us with some sexy moments, some funny moments, and some sweet moments.
"Sorry professor, I was daydreaming about being finger-banged in my dorm parking lot by a guy I hate."
"You got the balls for this, Baxter?"
"I was born with them, Coach. They just haven’t dropped yet."
"We kissed until my breath belonged to him."
The angst in the beginning wasn't extreme, and all-in-all I'd call it a light, quick, and funny read. Did I have some problems with the non-romance parts of the book?

description

A little. Some things felt unnecessary, some subplots were wrapped up too quickly and neatly, some dragged, and some weren't really explained at all. But was I bothered?

description

Nope, not really. I just sort of skimmed those parts and focused on Trent and Cordy <3 Some might definitely have problems with these things (a little bit soap opera drama-esque) but I personally believe the romance between these two overshadowed everything else to make this a very enjoyable read! :)

4.75 "real college football & true romance" stars

I FUCKIN LOVED IT!!!!

This is quite a treat for true football fans and one helluva second chance romance!!!

I loved this story. Period.
Why?

1. I love likable demanding- alphas -who –will-do-anything- to- win- back -the –heart- of- the- one- they- love heroes
2. I love badass, sassy yet sensible, passionate and vulnerable heroines
3. I love romance
4. I love second chance love
5. I love sport

And that's what I got from this book. I enjoyed the GAME. It's perfectly described in detail and you get involved in it even if you don't know the NAME of the GAME. And it's contageous and addictive. Through out the game, you have a second chance love.

Trent Carrington is a star quarterback for the Billingsley University football team . He's a rich boy but not smug or pompous.

Cordelia Elaine Baxter/Cordy is a girl that comes from a disfunctional family and is on stipendy program as the only female kicker on a football team. She's passionate and brave, sensitive and tender yet strong and tough and determined.

Trent and Cordy shared a beautiful start of a relationship that went abruptly wrong under the pressure and circumstances that made Trent walk away breaking Cordy's heart in the process.
I'd made a mistake, the biggest of my life, and I punished myself for it by watching her and knowing I couldn't touch her.

Two years later he's more than determined to let Cordy know that she's still the ONE. And that he'll do anything to win her trust and her heart back.
For the milionth time, I cursed myself for ruining things with her two years ago. But I could fix it. I would do anything in my power to make her see me again the way she had then – with bright eyes and trusting heart.

I loved the length Trent went to prove his devotion and his true feelings for Cordy. And it wasn't so much in the groveling BUT more in the fact that he actually maned-up and took the mistake he made and owned it.
I love you, Cordy. I'd do anything for you.

He admited it and took responsibility but he also showed her that he's no longer the „boy“ who made the wrong decision in choosing...the reasons were somewhat justified but it made him lose smth that was „right“...smth that was worth keeping and fighting for. And now he is supportive of her, standing up for her and protecting her, he is CHOOSING her over everything and everyone.
Where I go, you go. If you aren't welcome somewhere, then neither am I.

I loved the way Cordy faught her inner struggle to deny him, his presence, his persistance and when she realized that her feelings for Trent were even stronger than before, she couldn't supress the "love aching" in her heart any longer. Her character was described so realistically that every reluctant emotion she went through was almost as palpable as their obvious chemistry...

Beautiful romantic story of a second chance love, persistance, never giving up in life, in love, in sport...filled with twists and several moments of suspense and intrigue, this is a book made for the true sport fans as well as sweet, passionate true love seekers!

I'm sad I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. It's a second chance romance with a H who stayed celibate for 2 years so I was sure I would love it. It was good but had some parts I didn't like. The H was great though! He was doing everything in his power to get back with the h and realized how big of a mistake he made 2 years ago.

I got so damn annoyed with the drama with her guy best friend who was supposedly in "love" with her. He was such a big whore and would bring his conquests around her all the time. Even though he wasn't the H he pissed me off. And then he all of a sudden he starts dating her roommate. I could have done without his character to be honest.

I also didn't like that she was a virgin while he had plenty of experience before meeting her.

I also wanted more from the ending! It wrapped up quickly and I wanted to see more of their HEA.

NO SPOILERS HERE.
This one has too much description of football and terms that I found annoying (football is not my thing). They share that in common as they both are football players. Not my thing.
It's safe and it has some sweet tender moments.
If you like her other books I think you will like this one as well.

I know, I snuck this one on you guys. I needed a lighter romance!

Cordy isn't your average girl, as the third string kicker for the Billingsley Bobcats she's a mascot, desperate to hold onto her scholarship so she can teach and support her father. When an opportunity arrises to receive a full ride scholarship she'll do whatever it takes to become the first-string kicker, even take direction from the guy who broke her heart. Trusting him is too easy, but letting him in and trusting herself is even harder.
Trent Carrington is the quintessential handsome, rich quarterback. Everyone knows his name and has an idea of where he's going to go with his life, but no one knows his heart. For two years he's held onto the past, determined to find a way to follow his parent's wishes, but unable to let go of the girl he still loves. Maybe it's stalking, maybe it's an obsession, but he's going to show her the real him under the guise of teaching her proper kicking.

"Of course Trent left. That was his thing. Like a catch phrase or a signature style. If Trent Carrington had a calling card, it was that he always walked away first."

Told from dual POV's, Kicked is Celia Aaron's newest release about a female football player and the handsome quarterback she never got over. Filled with football facts, plays, and players, I wasn't sure this book was going to be my cup of tea, but I was so wrong. With college aged characters, Kicked fell into the New Adult category for me and I loved it all the more for it. It was reminiscent of my college days, relatable in several ways, and an all around cute second-chance story. I genuinely liked both characters, especially the country mouse, city mouse aspect of their relationship. Cordy is adorable, I loved her determination, her warring emotions, and the way she carried herself. Trent, on the other hand, is definitely all his description makes him out to be, and then some. He gets you with his football skill and looks, but wins you over once you get to know him. Reading from his POV was definitely the most rewarding part of Kicked, Celia Aaron did an incredible job of making him so much more than his outward appearances lead you to believe. He's still dreamy, but also supportive, loyal, smart, and vulnerable. Together they make a perfect team and I really enjoyed their slow burn from angst to over-the-top chemistry.

“I was going to get the chance I’d been dreaming about for two years. I had so much to tell her, so many things to explain.”

Kicked is not like Celia Aaron's other works, so don't go in expecting that. This one is sweet, it's got a bit of angst, and the pacing is slower, but worth the time to read. I think Kicked showcased Celia's writing ability, especially with the shift from her well-known smutty novels to this coming of age release. There is a lot of football to it though and I had to Google different things to understand. Celia Aaron provides a lot of detail and description, but since I know next to nothing about football I did have to do some extra research. I do not think it took away from the story for me, but is worth noting for other readers who may not be sports romance genre readers or sports fans in general. I would have liked a bit more at the end, I wanted to see more of the progression of the relationship leading up to the epilogue, but overall it's a great release.

“In his place, there was a man who kissed like the devil and made me stupid with just one look.”

Kicked is a football romance with a sweet, angst-y plot that will have you smiling often and enjoying the sweet, sexy second-chance love. This is one couple you will be rooting for, on and off the field.

5 Trent and Cordy Stars

This is such a gorgeous book. Cordy is a very loveable heroine who lost her heart to Trent two years earlier. He is rich (comes from 'old' money ), handsome, shy and is the star Quarterback on Campus. When Trent nipped their budding relationship two years previously, he was cold and unkind and Cordy had no clue why. She comes from a little coal town, has no Mother and her Dad is an alcoholic. Trent is expected to achieve great things, not get caught up with a 'little side piece' . I wanted to slap the character that said that.
But Trent and Cordy find their paths crossing and what the heart wants.....well, it's going to get. Can he repair the damage? Will she accept his reasons?
The secondary characters are interesting and I wanted more about Landon. My heart ached for him.
As a hero, Trent is loyal, very alpha, can talk all the right kind of pillow talk *is it HOT in here or what???*
I liked that there was no unnecessary angst. The story flows really well despite my getting a bit bamboozled by the football jargon.
There is a beautiful epilogue but I would have liked to see into the future a bit more. I would love a Landon book.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a sexy second chance romance with a strong sports theme. Dual pov . Lots of sex and some swearing so recommend over 18's only.

“Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” ~Vince Lombardi

I confess: My favorite sport is FOOTBALL! I love the fast-pace and fierce completion. I love the game. I LOVE FOOTBALL! Plus, I can watch those hot guys in tight pants with massive muscles scrambling over the ball all day long. There is nothing like the thrill of football to get my heart racing and my blood pumping with adrenaline. You’ll find me in front of the TV or occasionally at the game during NFL season where I am so engaged that I should be a sideline commentator. I live and breathe this sport like it’s my religion. A sports romance like Kicked is my religion too.

"After all, is football a game or a religion?”~Howard Cosell

When I found out that the amazing Celia Aaron was writing a football book, I may have had a bookgasm or few—like the football freak I am—from the thought alone. My body tingled with excitement before I even began the book. I decided to be the Rogue Reviewer for Kicked, going blindly in because it’s fun to embrace the unknown and dive into a story sans synopsis. Oh what a surprise of a story it was! Kicked quickly catapulted me into a sports spiral of bliss where I was spinning in sweet satisfaction!

Beautiful, dark-haired, and amber-eyed Cordy has with curves that look female even through all of the football she sports. Cordy is soccer star who is now playing football for her college team, the Billingsley Bobcats, because she needs the scholarship money.

"I needed the money; the school needed a female who could kick. That was how I wound up on a football field with the crowd cheering, the Gatorade flowing, and the testosterone reigning.”

The kicker for the team, she is the lone lamb in a pack of wolves. Cordy handles her own though, turning she-wolf when the wolves act like wieners.

"Soccer was my sport, but football was in my blood.”

I LOVE how Kicked features a strong FEMALE FOOTBALL STAR. How refreshing and reverse-roled is that?!? It’s AMAZING…that’s what it is!

Not only did soccer star, Cordy, have to switch gears and drop her beloved soccer for football, she is forced to play with the one boy who broke her heart two years ago. More a boy back then, Trent is now ALL MAN and the quarterback who not only holds on to a football but a piece of Cordy’s heart. Tall and muscular with the perfect ‘V’ with dark hair, and green eyes, Trent is panty-melting hot. Add tight football pants to the mix and Trent is sex-on-a-stick-or-football-goalie HOT.

"I hated Trent, but I was also starved for him. How could I still crave him after all this time?”

My body is warming too. Trent may be a big guy but he has a big heart.

For Trent, Cordy is a distraction on the field and off. She is sweet, sexy and sassy, and shares Trent’s love for the game. Though he would love to show Cordy his game in the bedroom and claim her as his.

"Her full lips were made for kissing. I’d only ever gotten a taste of them in one stolen moment two years ago, but I wanted more.”

Holy HOT! Trent is sweet and sensual. Pure perfection.

Cordy has to step up her kicking game as she has moved from the bench to the field. What better person to give her pointers than the quarterback, the kicker’s right-hand man?!? Cordy vows to focus on the game and not on Trent’s tantalizing and tender talk or his blazing-hot body.

"I couldn’t go down the path that I already knew would end in disappointment.”

Cordy has been on Trent’s mind since he broke her heart and he is ready to stake his claim.

"For the millionth time, I cursed myself for ruining things with her two years ago. But I could fix it.”

Lines and blurred. Friends hover into lovers’ territory. The football game and season are on the line while two hearts are as well.

Entrancing and exhilarating, Kicked packs heat and heart into a touchdown of a tender tale. Playful. Passionate. Powerful. Kicked is the perfect second-chance romance for the sports junkie. I was in the stands cheering for the Billingsley Bobcats, I was in the locker room listening to the team pep talks, and I was on the field chasing the ball with the players as my emotions were thoroughly Kicked. I was in this game ALL THE WAY.

This fierce and flirty football romance that oozes spice and sweetness hits meaningful messages. One being a phenomenal role for females in that they are strong athletes who can play any sport that men can. Perseverance also filters through this football romance where, like in the game of football, you fall down but brush yourself off and get right back in the game.

"It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.”~Vince Lombardi

Kicked is action-packed and achingly-addictive like football where I was embedded in this book all the way. I could not help but cheer for love to win the game. This raw and rousing romance is fresh, flirty, and fabulous and I was glued to this sensational sports story like my favorite team playing football. I loved getting Kicked and left needing more.

It took me a while to get into Kicked but when I did man oh man did I enjoy it. I love women in unorthodox settings so it didn't take long at all for me to root for Cordy. I loved watching her grow as a character as well as watching her relationship develop with Trent. I thought they were a great complement to each other. I loved how sweet yet dirty Trent was. The sex scenes were extremely hot.

All in all Kicked is an enjoyable read that I'd definitely recommend not only to sports romance fans.

This was recommended in the Jealous Possessive Hero thread and The Locker Room FB. It was just okay, nothing special in an over-saturated subgenre.

Kicked is Celia Aaron’s first novel that delves into New Adult territory. With a unique story line, America’s favourite pass time, light college drama and a whole lot of sex. Undoubtedly, Celia Aaron strikes gold again. Told as a second chance romance, Kicked is filled with a perfect combination of humour and heartfelt. Showing off her creativity and her ability to challenge herself, with different genres, Celia Aaron is once again giving readers many reasons to remain avid and loyal fans.

Kicked immediately delves into unique territory. Introducing Cordy Baxter, who under Title Nine is the first female football player in America, readers already know this story will be memorable. With a partial scholarship, Cody’s home life means she would do anything to have a full ride at school. Wanting to be the first string kicker for the Billingsley Bobcats, practice seems like the obvious thing to do. But practicing with Trent Carrington, is something Cody didn’t see coming.

Trent Carrington has everything – except the girl of his dreams. Pining over Cordy for the last two years, he has decided now is the time to strike. Determined to make her his, he will do ANYTHING to be with her. This includes telling her the one thing that might turn her away from him. The truth. Helping with kicking practice, Trent hopes that it serves its purpose and he can break down all of Cordy’s walls. Showing her what he’s known all along.

Told in dual POV’s, Celia Aaron ensures that readers are familiar with both characters and their headspace. As Cordy battles between her head and her heart and Trent is consumed by determination, their chemistry and banter is addictive and charming. Paired with hot sex, readers will be rooting for nothing but a reunion between the two. With football making a significant appearance throughout the story, readers are destined to fall in love with the Aaron’s attention to detail and ability to make something foreign (I’m Australian) sound so interesting. Having secondary characters that bring both charisma and drama, Kicked holds all the secret ingredients, for what is now one of my favourite New Adult reads.

Review:
“‘I mean, could you, um, sleep here with me?’ She already possessed my heart, and I would never deny her any comfort I could give.”

5 Mr Perfect stars!! Unique and super fun read!

Trent is Mr. Football, the team quarterback and perfect in everyone’s eyes. Everyone’s eyes except, Cordy, that’s because he broke her heart into a million pieces. She tries to avoid him at all costs, but that’s hard since they are both on the football team together. And when she’s eligible for a scholarship, she realizes she may just need help from Trent. And these two start developing a relationship all over again, she has to let her heart trust him again… but can she?

OMG I freaking loved this book so much!!! I loved the whole idea of a female football player, since you don’t see that all the time in real life or in books!!! This whole book is unique and fun!! As much as you don’t want to like Trent you can’t help but totally fall for him! And Cordy is so adorable, it’s hard not to love her!! Overall a super fun, quirky read packed full of heat!!! Go read it now!

I am really loving these sports romance novels! Cleat Chaser, Cleat Catcher and now Kicked!

I don't usually read blurbs first, as I like to experience everything without any kind of spoiler, so I have to say I was rather surprised to find out that the kicker in the story was actually a woman. I love that!
Trent is the quarterback, and Cordy, the third-string kicker. Cordy tries her best to avoid Trent as much as possible, but when an opportunity arises for her to try-out for the first-string kicker position, she reluctantly accepts his help.

These two have a past. One that left Cordy heartbroken.
Trent wants to make up for that fateful night, two years ago.

Delving into Trent's past, we see that there is more to him than meets the eye. If only he could get Cordy to see.

Hot athletes, steamy sex scenes, drama, laughs - this book has it all! I love that it breaks the stereotypes by having a woman kicker. I love that she is strong, but still vulnerable and has those hang-ups that we all do - what if I'm not good enough?
There were times when I wanted to reach into the book and strangle some of the characters, and then plenty of times that I wanted to give them a hug and wipe away their tears. I could feel what they were feeling.

Celia, you have done another knock-out job with this one!

A sweet romance with likeable characters, Trent had broke Cordy's heart two years before but was determined now to win her back. She's the kicker on the college football team while Trent is the quarterback.

This was okay but I didn't understand why Trent had waited two years before trying to get Cordy back that wasn't explained. There were a couple of things in the story that were made much of but then we're not really resolved, nor did they seem necessary in the first place. I liked Cordy and Trent, but Landon, Cordy's best friend I could have done without he was an irritating character that interfered in Cordy's life too much, it's hinted a number of times that he's in love with her but he's a complete manwhore so I found that unbelievable. The reason why Trent hurt Cordy two years ago was a major part of the plot but that was never really developed either. The ending is rather abrupt as well.

3.5 stars.

This book was a pretty good second-chance romance. Cordy and Trent grew close while she helped him in speech class 2 years ago. Just when things seemed to get serious he walked away. 2 years later he's doing everything he can to get her back.

The story was sweet but I had some issues. First, I'm not a huge fan of when an h is part of a sports team like this. Cordy is a kicker on the college football team.

Spoiler....

Second, the reason he up and left her was shitty but what I didn't understand was why when the situation changed last summer did he not break things off with ow until the last month. He didn't even like her! Made no sense and was never explained. We also don't know if he ever slept with her or anyone for that matter during that time. He over and over stresses how obsessed he was with Cordy during those two years so I wanted some validation for it but got nothing.

Once again, Celia Aaron has managed to write a beautiful love story with the depth of sports. But this story did indeed influence me a lot with feminism power and courage. Cordy, taking part of the MALE's college football team as a string kicker was great to read about. You dont read or see appearances like that so often, so indeed it was a refreshing cup of tea to read about the opposite gender in one game that unites them for their likes and physical strength of equality! Great read for sure!

I thought this book was just ok. I think it could've been better especially if Trent could've been more of an alpha male instead of the nice guy he ended up being.

Kicked is a sports romance between the star quarterback and the only woman team member, the mascot/third-string kicker. This book and its characters kicked my heart to a touchdown. But am I really shocked? No, not at all because Celia's imagination and writing skills are limitless.

In this appropriately titled book, we meet a determined and humbled Cordelia Elaine Baxter aka Cordy aka Mav that has a heart as big as Texas. Cordy's family is working class so she's on a partial scholarship at Billingsley University.
Soccer was my sport, but football was in my blood.
Trent Carrington, unlike Cordy comes from a family of wealth. This star quarterback with a winning smile and perfect dimples wants the one thing he seems to can't have.
Cordy was a breath of fresh air- one I didn't even realize I was desperate for until I found her.
Unfortunately Trent's past mistakes makes it hard for Cordy to trust him.

What I like about this book are the dual alternating perspectives between main characters because it allowed both Cordy and Trent views to be told. It gave me a chance to see through the character's playbook of thoughts, memories, special moments, & feelings. As a read Kicked I found the title relevant to football but also as a metaphor during stages of characters life.
"…at that moment, I empathized with the football. I finally knew what it felt like to be kicked"
description
I'm on the fence about some of characters in the book as all of them didn't feel real to me with the exception of Cordy's BFF, Landon. I appreciated how Landon was a protector for Cordy and he also provided some comedic relief.
…'Soft tacos are hard tacos' ugly cousins. "
I only wish Landon had his own POV as it would have cleared up some minor things for me in regards to his relationship with Cordy.

Out of everyone though, Cordy was my favorite. Her down to earth nature felt the most relatable from her inner thoughts about Trent to her relationship with her BFF, to her home life, even her straight forwarded approach dealing with Trent’s mother. Kudos to Cordy.

My favorite scenes in the book hands down were the ones with Trent and Landon and also the sexy times between Cordy and Trent. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Celia Aaron can write erotica and make no mistake even though this is a sweet romance, the sexiness shines through.

Kicked was a fun book to read. The story immediately gripped me and I kept turning the pages. I laughed, got teary eyed, and said a couple cuss words while reading. I didn't expect some of the events that unfolded would agitate me but I guess I have a penchant for stuff like this so it's all good. Overall, this is a sweet romance that made my heart skip a beat. And, as a bonus readers are gifted with the first chapter of Celia Aaron's remake of the classic novel Jane Eyre.

If you're like me and enjoy sweet romances that's made even sweeter because it's a second time at love combined with some unexpected twists then pick up this book. Celia Aaron did a fabulous job kicking your feelings around.

Kicked gets 4.5 you got this stars!
