"We all want thngs that aren’t good for us, Natalia. Sometimes the wanting is the fun part. It’s just the having part can be too damned dangerous sometimes."

I loved this story! It was really great! I liked everything about it! From the first page of it I knew I would love it! This story is about a guy, Cade, who was meant to be a lawyer but instead he has gone from being a respected war veteran to the vice president of a motorcycle club. Just for one reason: to find his missing sister. After seven years searching, now he has some clues! But there is a teeny tiny problem and that is the daughter of the cartel.

Every thing was perfect; the story-line was great, the characters were awesome (actually there were some secondary characters that I would like to read about them and know about them more). The story was well-paced! But the only thing that bothered me was that when Cade found out about what happened to his sister (when Natalia told him) he didn’t show any reaction! I mean he didn’t show any sadness or… I just wanted to feel his rage at that moment but he didn’t show anything. She was his sister and I expected more emotion at that moment and it bothered me so much! The story is told from Cade’s POV, 1st person and it’s a standalone! All in all, I loved it and hope you enjoy it as well!

Cade Preston grew up with his family’s expectations that he’d be an attorney; however, plans changed upon returning from the military when his sister, Laura, disappeared without a trace. Thereafter, Cade began his search with the assistance of his best friend, Jamie (aka Rebel), taking them all over the world and eventually recruiting help and forming the Widow Makers motorcycle club. Now the Vice President of the club and after years of searching, Cade has a real lead as to his sister’s location and takes off to find Laura.

“I’m going to find my sister. Even if it fucking kills me, I am going to find her.”

During Cade’s trek to Ecuador, he encounters Fernando Villalobos, a powerful drug lord who claimed rights to Laura. In trying to penetrate the compound, Cade’s fears are met, as he witnesses the kind of men and women who pay to abuse enslaved women for their own sexual kicks. Desperate to find his sister, Cade doesn’t expect to set his sights on Natalia, the drug cartel’s daughter. Having a propensity for certain vices, Cade knows the danger he’s in, but moves forward the only way he knows how.

“Sometimes the wanting is the fun part. It’s just the having part can be too damned dangerous sometimes.”

Cade’s attraction to Natalia is not only because she is beautiful but also because despite the danger and evil she's witnessed, Natalia is strong and willing to take a chance on what is right. While finding allies in each other, they forge ahead with a common goal. Of course there are moments that are incredibly hot and steamy when Cade unleashes his vices on Natalia.

“Come on my dick, Natalia. That’s it. That’s a good girl. Soak me. Drench me. I wanna feel you squirting all over my cock.”

While Cade tries to insulate Natalia from the impending danger resulting from his ultimate plan of revenge, certain forces are set in motion. With only have a few options, Cade acts swiftly and hopes he hasn’t made the biggest mistake of his life.

“A good man will do necessary, evil things in order to help others, but he will not revel in his actions.”

For me, Callie Hart is at her best when writing action and in Vice, the thrilling pace is nonstop. Upon being introduced to Cade in the Dead Man’s Ink series, he was always intriguing to me due to his rage, righteousness and his deep need to avenge his sister’s disappearance. Cade is sexy with a rugged exterior but he is a southern gentleman as well. Finding Natalia somewhat naïve yet a fighter is quite complimentary to Cade’s character and seeing how their relationship progresses will be entertaining.

Vice is a book that can be read as a standalone, but in my opinion, the reading experience would be richer to those who are familiar with the Dead Man’s Ink series, especially given the driving force behind Cade’s mission. There were a few areas in the story where I wanted more detail since there has been a long lead up to this book, but the overall vision for the future of characters is promising. Needless to say, I look forward to reading more about Cade and Natalia, as well as, the rest of the Widow Makers.

I am so disappointed with this story. To start with I am not sure I can classify this as a Romance. The plot was unbelievable. The lack of depth in the characters also didn't help.
Natalie was a very inconsistent character. She seemed very strong and confident in the beginning to later become a victim of her own father with no traumas. Apparently she's been through a lot but it was left aside as if it was nothing. She didn’t seem affected by that at all. How bizarre.

I had to suspend belief too many times. Incredible things happened.
Bellow is what I found questionable and failing to convince in the plot:
.)The way Cade gets in inside the cartel leader’s fortress with no plan whatsoever.
.)Fernando trusted Cade too fast despite the fact that Harrison (his security guy) tried to warn him about the dodgy office and moreover, encouraging a friendship between Natalie and Cade.
.)The way Cade dealt with the situation in the end, on his own. He was one for God’s sake against them all! It was a bit too much. He was no super hero.
.)Ocho, the mute bodyguard helping Laura *rolling eyes*.
.)And finally, Laura's fake death.

The villain created by the author was impressive though. The wolves feeding time was shocking.

Romance wise, well… was it a Romance?? I am not a fan of instalove. I didn’t feel a connection developing between the MC’s. There was no affection or tenderness. I felt that in the end she had to stay with Cade because, as a matter of fact, there was no other option for her, as an obligation.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad read. However, there is nothing in this book that will make me remember this story in a few weeks’ time.
I’ll settle for an OK read.

I did enjoy Cade and Natalia's book for the most part, my biggest peeve though was that they didn't get things going until about 36% into the story. I have to admit that I get aggravated when the story doesn't involve the main couple until further on. I do understand why the author did it though.

Cade has been searching for his missing sister for years now. When he gets a lead in Equador, he ends up taking off there and creating another identity for himself so that he can implement himself in the big drug cartel where his sis may be. This is where he finds Natalia...and she happens to be the daughter of the Head of the cartel..The focus in the beginning is on finding Laura, (his sister) and we are shown a big part of how the cartel runs, and the sex trafficking that is going on there as well.

This story is definitely not all roses and hearts...there is a very dark tone to it, and there are some gruesome scenes as well. It is not for the faint of heart...believe me. Natalia's father is a certifiable nut job...yikes...he is phsyco...I get the willies just thinking about that dude!!!
The sex scenes between Cade and Natalia are so friggen hot!! Callie Hart knows how to make her couples ooze chemistry...gah...that scene in the treehouse...holy hell was that sexy!!! Ha ha..there were elements that I loved to this story, and then others that got me frustrated!

All in all though, I will continue to follow Callie Hart's series. I like how this one is a stand alone, yet there are characters from other series that are a part of this story too. This makes it so I have to read ALL of her work..which I pretty much have!! I do enjoy how she weaves a tale!!

A decadent wild, sinful, heart pounding read that grips and shakes you to the core with her unforgettable visceral prose. Callie Hart does not deliver a story that takes you on a journey but she holds you hostage with her ability to make readers feel. Feel the burn. Feel the hurt. Feel the lust. Feel the need to survive. And most importantly feel the love. Vice may be Cade Preston’s story in search for his sister but this beyond that. It is an emotional journey that is packed with action, vulnerability, grit, raw honesty, and love. Callie Hart strips her readers bare and awakens their senses. So if you are looking for a story that was utterly addictive and stunningly intertwined elements of grit, prowess, sexiness, and fierceness then look no further than Vice. The writing was beyond brilliant as layers of darkness and truth were tangibly scattered giving a depth and raw understanding to the story of Cade Preston.

Wow just wow i wont be forgetting this one any time soon.Dunno if I'm to emotional but this book gave me a nightmare, which is weird since its not even the darkest book I read, but the darkest Callie Hart book for shere, also it was very emotionnaly heart breacking in certain parts moor, than the gore which leaves me still upset, but Callie is good at the tear jerked sad parts, the romance didn't make me invested this time round, though I like Cade starting from Rebel books and Natalia is an unussual heroin in the siries. But an other couple that was barely there made me cry and feel moor angry abought there fate,I'm talking abought Plato and Persephone ,the sex of Cade and Natallia is hot though when it comes throes who know me well, can guess which one of his vices is my fave, also the plot twist Callie really did not see that coming,I thought Natallia was right all the way thrue

This was so not me.

This is dark with dark subject matter. There is so much evil in this story that it chills me to the bone.

I wasn't thrilled with Cade. He turned me off from the start. He is a tad unrealistic, he is in all theses off the wall situations with odds totally against him, but always comes out smelling like a rose. Then to me the way he treated Natalie just blew my mind. She lived in all this evil and has been and continued to be sexually assaulted and he treats her with rough choking sex. You would think she would be traumatized by everything but no she just loves it and has no triggers or flashbacks and thinks Cade is wonderful. Then there is Natalie....

Natalie is a totally unrealistic character. She is totally healed in just a couple of pages and nothing bothers her. REALLY?!? She goes from being a slave to her father and seeing and having all theses evil things being done to a normal girl.

I could not stomach this at all. I am sure others will love it and I of course am in the minority here.

The blurb doesn't give away what you are about to read or what you are about to encounter with this story. Nope its not that simple.

Vice is not a straightforward MC story. I thought that this was secondary to the actual plot. Yeah Cade Preston is the VP of the Widow Makers MC but this is not what this book is about.

War comes in different shapes and forms but there are three rules that you obey:

orders
protect the person standing next to you
Stay alive

After leaving the military Cade sticks to the laws of combat and as the VP of Widow Makers MC he stays loyal and stay alive - he follows these rules.

The beginning.

when Cade's sister comes across the "love of her life" finger f**king some 21 year old he doesn't understand her problem - you see he doesn't know that Laura loves him. Falling in love with Jamie is like falling off the Empire State Building....praying that the whole way down you are going to survive the experience, but your head tells you "not a chance" you won't survive the fall.

Tomorrow - the talk needs to happen. The air needs to be cleared between Jamie and Laura....... but tomorrow never happens because Laura disappear that night leaving behind a shredded dress, underwear and shoes. Every item cut by a knife.

The story moves on 7 years and we find out that the club was a by product for the search for Laura. Over 7 years of searching and nothing until one night Cade receives a photograph of Laura, a leather glove wrapped round her throat. It was used as collateral when a hotel deal had gone wrong. Julio Perez - cartel boss knows where Laura is but believing that the Widow Makers won't go hunting for him he takes off to Mexico.

From this point the story really develops and we are introduced to Cortina Villalobos - the untouchable daughter of Ecuador's notorious cartel leader - Fernando Villalobos and his House of Wolves.

Cade infiltrates the House of Wolves pretending to be a buyer for cocaine..................... but the House of Wolves delivers a stark warning to Cade - remember the rules - stick to them or die.

This story did captivate me because where it starts off doesn't finish in the way you expect. There were times I swallowed hard at some of the things that happens to Cade and I have to admit there were times it was too much - (and eye rolling) you know the insta love and the super hero aspect portrayed by Cade and the dealings that go on in the House of Wolves. It is raw and brutal and there were times I had to re-read some of the storyline to understand what was going on but it did deliver a different read.

Decent delivery from Callie Hart albeit far fetched. Wonder whats coming next?

Cade Preston was absolutely to-die-for in this story! As an easy-going guy in the Dead Man's Ink series, I knew I'd adore him even more in this book! Plus, being besties with Rebel pretty much guaranteed that Cade would attract danger like a moth to a flame!

This book started off with a very realistic feel, but then veered off into being a bit far-fetched in some areas. I expected lots of action scenes with murder and mayhem, as this book is centered around a cartel's skin trading business, but there were certain scenes that seemed really over the top, and were resolved fairytale-style--all within the nick of time. I also found the heroine to be very emotional. She was either close to tears or crying nearly every time she and Cade were alone, but she wasn't whiny and I liked that about her. At the same time, she seemed less three-dimensional than Cade, and I didn't completely warm to her. The steamy scenes were scorching hot, though!

Despite the dark theme explored in this book, , the author had a way of presenting a humorous enough character to balance with the underlying dark content of this story. Enjoyed!

Book Description

In war, there are only three rules.

Obey orders.

Protect the guy standing next to you.

Stay alive.

Cade Preston left the military a long time ago, but he has never ceased to live by the laws of combat. As vice president of the Widow Makers Motorcycle club, he’s been loyal. He’s fought tooth and nail to stay alive. He’s shed blood to save the lives of those who matter to him.

And now he’s gone and done something he swore he would never do.

He’s fallen for the one girl he can’t have.

Cortina Villalobos is an untouchable. The daughter of one of Ecuador’s most notorious cartel leaders, she is beyond Cade’s reach in every way. Fernando Villalobos is a murderer and a madman. He will kill anyone who dares look twice at his daughter, and yet Cade can’t walk away.

Will he disobey orders?

Will he abandon his club?

And will taking on the House of Wolves cost him his life?

Cade Preston is a man on a mission, a mission to find his sister who was kidnapped and taken from him and his family. As news of her location is leaked Cade goes in search for her doing whatever necessary to get to her. When information sends him heading to The House of wolves, the Villalobos family he hatches up a plan to fit in and find her but things soon change when he finds himself in a situation with Natalia Villalobos.

Will Cade manage to get passed a mute man determined to hurt him, a pack of man eating wolves desperate for human flesh, a man desperate to kill him and a woman who stops his heart just by glancing at him?

Callie Hart is an absolutely incredible woman and her writing never fails to amaze me. After hearing Cade was getting his own story I had high expectations for it and this woman just smashed them into a thousand tiny pieces. I LOVED IT!

“I hope you step on a Lego, you arrogant motherfucker.”

Cade has always been one of my favourites in the Dead Man's Ink Series (Rebel, Rogue and Ransom) and it was great to hear from Rebel in Cade's book. Callie's writing has a knack of keeping you hooked and determined to finish it the day you begin and leaves you wanting MORE, she never disappoints.

If you haven't read a Callie hart book before then you're definitely missing out. After reading the first Blood and Roses book (Deviant) I've been addicted, you should start right away, you'll love meeting her characters and wonder why you didn't meet them sooner!

Finally Cade gets a story. He is such an awesome character that I have loved since he was first introduced. He is so loyal and his friendship with Rebel is one of my favorites. Although Vice is a stand alone and not very confusing to follow I highly recommend reading the other series. You will fully understand what Cade and Rebel have done in their search for Laura. I loved Cade and Natalia together. Natalia was a very strong female but naïve and innocent at the same time. My only complaint is who took Laura? I wish I had found out how she was selected and who took her from her home. Anyway another awesome story from Callie and I'm definitely looking forward to more.

I'm not a fan of insta-love and this book is screaming it. Love Callie Hart but Vice fell flat for me. I guess no man can compare to Zeth. Hahaha!! I'm moving on:))

Can someone tell me why the hell in the blurb it says the heroine's name is Cortina...but in the book the heroine's name is Natalia!? I was waiting a while for this Cortina to come into the story only to realise that Natalia was our heroine...and this Cortina character doesn't actually exist.

-----------------
Sooo this book was...interesting. Knowing this book is connected to both the 'Blood and Roses' and the 'Dead Man's Ink' series I automatically thought it would have the same vibe and feel to it as the others. But it was so different and honestly, kind of far fetched with some of the things that went down.
We met Cade Preston in the 'Dead Man's Ink' series. Vice President of his MC, ex-military and for the last seven years he and his best friend Rebel have been searching for his sister who was taken one night. Finally after seven long years he has a strong lead to where she has been taken to.

The House of Wolves.
Ecuador.

Cade's broken every law, killed mercilessly, all in his pursuit to bring his sister home. His guilt, rage and love for her never leaves him but pushes him. Makes him cold and utterly ruthless. He won't give up on her, will never rest until she's back home safe...even going about his mission on his own.
He finds the man who took her. He plays the part to make him trust him. He gets closer and closer till he's within reach to deliver the bastard death.
But not everything goes to plan when the man who took his sister is also the father of the woman he's slowly falling for.

So what made tilt my head a little in that "yeah-f*cking-right" way...
1: The wolf thing. I felt like I was in the middle of a Twilight movie...

or even a Taylor Swift video...

The whole 'death-by-wolf' parts were, to put it lightly, gruesome, bloody and cruel. It proved to those in Fernados (or whatever the bad guy's name is) service who is in charge and what happens to those who don't follow his rules. I was all for that! Gritty, dark and down right pure psychotic. BUT it did feel like I was in some kind of Hollywood movie. It was unrealistic.

2: The fact Cade was on his own the entire time. A one man army, taking down two huge crime organizations? As the most respected Emily Gilmore says...

3: The development of Cade and Natalia's relationship.

It just...happened. I didn't feel anything more than attraction and lust. I didn't believe Cade's growing affection because all he ever talked about was Natalia's body. Her freckles. Her spectacular ass. How he wanted to bend her over every table and take her.
And while we're on the topic that is Natalia, she started off as this badass chick with a wicked knife...only to turn into a damsel. That was annoying.

Things just seemed a bit too out of this world for this book to be believable but I did enjoy it nonetheless. If it weren't connected the Callie Hart's other series I'd be more convinced. But because I'm familiar with the world Hart's created...it's like we've taken a trip to Mars with this story.

I went into Vice with high anticipation with both the Blood & Roses and the Dead Man's Ink Series being favourites of mine, and I assumed that Vice would be no different. While the writing was good, it was the entertaining, witty banter I missed. It was evident there was no room within the dark tale being told for levity and inappropriate to include it.

If you have read the Dead Man's Ink Series, you will be familiar with Cade and why he found himself out on a limb. Cade's disregard for his safety came across as if he was on a suicide mission at times. His willingness to put his life on the line constantly had me struggling to connect with him.

Natalia was an unexpected shining light in the darkness. How she managed to remain so positive was a miracle. While she brought joy into the story, she was also off limits to Cade. Being attracted to her added another layer of threat to his well-being.

Vice was a quick paced story, but there was a lot of caution being exercised, and patience was required. The location setting for the central part of the story was far from idealistic. Not my idea of a resort and to work there would be hell. So with a setting one step away from damnation, I found it hard to remain optimistic for the main characters' well-being.

There’s a good chance my feelings as I read Vice was based on expectations from previous Callie Hart books I’ve read. Glad I hung in there because, by the time I reached the epilogue, I was pleased to have read Vice.

Wow!! What a story!!

I've always loved Cade since meeting him at the start of this series (he's actually my favourite of the Widow Makers- sorry Rebel!) so was really pleased that he was getting his own story.

We meet Cade in this story on a search for his sister, Laura, who was kidnapped 7 years ago after a party at Rebel's dads house on her way home. Cade and Jamie (Rebel) haven't stopped looking for her - this is why they started the MC.

Cade finds himself at the House of Wolves where he's determined to find Laura. There he meets Natalia, daughter of Fernando Villalobos (head of the House of Wolves), and he is warned to stay away from her.

Fernando is a sick bastard. The Servicio are a group of men and women who have been kept at the house for many years for one thing or another and are basically sex slaves (I won't give anything away).

The twist at about 75% left me speechless and from then on out the story was so tense that I couldn't NOT read "just one more chapter". The wood chipper has to be the best thing ever!!

Loved this book and can't wait for more!!

The pieces of this story did not come together for me like other characters of Callie Hart's - Zane or Rebel. There was no build up to the relationship as the story focused on bizarre sex scenes, death hunts and wolves tearing people apart. All of Callie's books have a dark edge to them but this was really dark and the characters were blah.

“You want me to become your vice?”
After the Blood & Roses and then Dead Man's Ink series, I had to read Vice. Cade and his sister Laura's stories had me intrigued since the beginning. What happened to her, and what is Cade really like?
I should have Vice before. The answers I got had me bitting my nails, and my lips.
I’m about to cartwheel head fucking first down a vertical slope, and I’m liable to break every bone in my body on the way down.
Thrilling, fast paced, dark, ultra violent, this stand alone set into the heat of the Ecuadorian forest had everything to keep me enthralled from cover to cover.
I had a great time facing danger and craziness with the no less mad (deliciously mad) biker.
Mrs Hart delved into the pitch black parts with brio, her storytelling efficient, as ever. I devored this opus in no time.

Loved this book!!! Started out a little slow but I was still hooked from the start. I really liked the story line and was completely shocked at the twist toward the end. I loved how the relationship between Natalie and Cade was built up and wasn't something that was just jumped into. Loved the tree house scene. I have loved reading this author's work.

I was honored to receive an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly? I absolutely loved it. Callie Hart has a real talent in fleshing out her characters and building the worlds in which they live, in this case the world of Cade Preston, VP of the Widow Makers MC.
Cade’s sister, Laura, was abducted without a trace 7 years ago and he and his lifelong best friend, Jamie (who is also the President of the MC) have spent those years searching for any trace of her. Lead after lead has led to only dead ends. Finally, however, a new lead emerges and Cade, without the back up of his MC, follows it to the jungles of Eucador where he finds himself a de facto prisoner of a vicious cartel leader, Eduardo Villalobos. It’s not all bad, though. The cartel leader has a beautiful daughter, Natalia. Are her loyalties to her father? Does she have information that can lead Cade closer to the truth about the disappearance of his sister?
This story makes you squirm. Both in a good way (want to press your thighs together kind of way) and a bad way (stomach roiling, heart pounding, OMG that can’t be happening kind of way). It is fast paced and intense, filled with characters to cheer for, to cry for, and others for whom you will sign with satisfaction when they meet their just end.
This book is a standalone but if you have not read the Dead Man’s Ink series by Ms. Hart, I would encourage you to do so. Not only to provide some additional back story to Cade and Jamie, but because it is a great read.

Way out there..

If Callie and Quentin Tarantino wrote a book together, I imagine it would be this one. I'm not sure it was a hit for me. I've been looking forward to Cade's story and his search for his sister, but this just had so much jammed in that it was often too much and over the top. It didn't feel truly Callie, but almost like a parody. There were too many unbelievable plot twists and ridiculous characters to count. It came off a little cartoony to me. Not my favorite by Callie Hart.

I've always loved Cade Preston. He didn't allow Jamie to help him in this chapter of his life because he's already put his ass on the line for him so much.
Who knew in his hunt for his sister he would find a relationship?
I was blown away by the twist with Laura and Then Ocho, Plato and Natalie.
This was an easy read and I loved Blood & Roses series and Dead Mans Ink so I already knew I loved Cade Preston.

I can definitely say this book was largely too dark for me, and I never quite stomached the heroine's relationship with her father and how easily she went into a partnership with the hero. This Callie Hart story didn't work so well for me but that's a "it's not you it's me" problem. D

This was an okay read but nothing too memorable.

Honestly I think the blood & roses world should have stayed with just Sloane and Zeth.

I was excited to read the books of the side characters but there are SO many inconsistencies in timelines and details across the books. It bothers me so much. Especially in this book.... Jamie and Sophie were married in blood and roses but 3 months later in this book they aren't married and still bf/gf. In blood and roses, Rebel doesn't know what Sophias dad looks like, but he met him 2 years earlier in Dead Mans Ink. It just makes no sense at all.

I'm a very details person, so I was jumping back to the original series a ton to make sure I wasn't going crazy and completely lost interest in this plot/book.

If you read Blood & Roses and enjoyed it. Just end it there and don't bother with Vice or Dead Mans Ink. You'll just frustrate yourself 😅

I’ve really enjoyed Callie Hart’s books but this one is a huge no for me. *Spoiler, but as an animal lover I would really have wanted to know this before reading.

Cade kills a dog within chapter 1.
1) I’ll take a menu of TWs. Non con, abuse, whatever. Killing dogs? No
2) No book boyfriend of mine will kill an animal. Ever.
