44 Chapters About 4 Men

NETFLIX NEWS! The 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN series is being adapted into a steamy Netflix dramedy series called SEX/LIFE, coming soon!

Now a Top 100 Amazon Bestseller and winner of the After Dark Book Lovers Shortie Award for Best Debut of 2016.

School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered “unethical” and “a fireable offense.” Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.

After spending years trying to spice up my sex life, I gave up and took to my journal. Perhaps my gorgeous, cold, number crunching husband simply wasn’t capable of the kind of passion I’d come to expect. After all, my ex-boyfriends—a tattoo artist turned U.S. Marine turned motorcycle club outlaw, a baby-faced punk rocker out on parole, and a heavy-metal bass player—were every bit as tattooed and testosterone-fueled as the leading men in my favorite romance novels. If I couldn’t have that kind of passion again in real life, I could at least write about it. Right? Nobody had to know. It would be my little secret.

Well, guess what? My husband read that shit.

And guess what else? He upped his fucking game.

Drunk with power and under the dubious advisement of my best friend and colleague, I began testing the limits—crafting journal entries specifically designed to manipulate Ken’s behavior. For the most part, he responded beautifully … except when he didn’t.

BB Easton is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, the hilarious, steamy, tell-all memoir that inspired the Netflix Original Series, SEX/LIFE. Within the first month, SEX/LIFE was viewed by 67 million households worldwide, making it the 3rd Most-Watched Netflix Original Series of all time.

BB was a stressed-out school psychologist and mother of two when the inspiration to write 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN struck. Through that process, she rediscovered her passion for writing, became dangerously sleep-deprived, and finally mustered enough courage to quit her job and become a full-time author.

BB went on to publish four more wickedly funny, shockingly steamy, and heartwarmingly autobiographical books in the 44 CHAPTERS series: SKIN, SPEED, STAR, and SUIT. Since then, she's been hard at work writing fictional stories that appeal to her love for us-against-the-world romance, including a dystopian trilogy (PRAYING FOR RAIN), a psychologist-client romantic comedy (GROUP THERAPY), and a dark mafia romance (DEVIL OF DUBLIN).

Is there a point to this? Why do I need to know who you dated in high school or why your husband feels inadequate? Don't misunderstand it's funny and all, but I'm just not excited nor do I care.

Super funny book that is supposedly autobiographical about a woman basically manipulating her husband for a wilder sex.

Huh. Didn't even know Godzilla was married. Or a female. But, I guess it makes sense, I've had pms episodes where I've wanted to take out a city.

BB writes a journal entry complaining about her husband being a dud in the sack and a few days later realizes that he read it because he suddenly came to life. This gave her the idea to keep writing to see if she could plant further sexy thoughts into his head. The results were hilarious and smutty. Smutlarious.

When her hubs asks if she wants to try anything "new":
(As in, new to him, obviously. For a sex act to be new to me it would require a stolen mascot uniform, twelve yards of rappelling cable, a handful of gerbils, and thirty CCs of vampire blood.)

To prove her statement, we get to read stories of BB's past boyfriends, and if it wasn't so funny, it would be pretty tragic and sad. This girl was one of those lost teen girls who is desperate for attention and love. She dresses outrageously and acts promiscuously in order to get it. And, if she hadn't met her very-stable husband, she would have probably ended up a crack-whore in an alley somewhere.

The funny thing is that later in the book, she acts like having sex on the beach is the craziest thing ever. And, she realizes sand will make you its bitch if you dare to try it.

Each grain of sand is a little ninja that finds an uncomfortable place to hide in your body.

So, I wasn't sure just how close to true her stories were sometimes.
Still, she made me laugh, and it was very entertaining.

I’m not sure this book would have hit as hard to my emotions if I had read it first. You see I read book two before doing this book. So perhaps once the others are written in the series this could be either the first or the last of the bunch since you do find out the fates of her boyfriends in this book.

BB Easton delivers a fantastically, witty, memoir as she decides to finally get the type of sex life she desires, some compliments, and her name tattooed on her hot husband. The story is wickedly funny as she gets the big idea after she realizes her husband has been reading her journal. By writing fake entries about her past relationships which she calls the Subliminal Spousal Bibliotherapy aids in getting the change in behavior she’s dreamed of from her husband.

”…Super Private Journal That Ken Is Never, Never Allowed to Read Ever where I plant completely fabricated stories about my ex-boyfriends designed to inspire Ken to up his fucking game.”

This was a refreshing, sexy, and fun read that I highly recommend. I’m assuming the line to be B.B.’s new best friend is a very long one!

*ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

I was so excited to receive an arc from BB!. It was not what I was expecting! When I first read the blurb I knew I was in for an amazing ride. 44 Chapters is a memoir about a married woman (BB) who writes about her past boyfriends in her journal. She loves her husband Ken, but.....their sex life sucks. Ken, happened to sneak upon said journal and their sex life started to take on a whole new meaning!

I really liked this story. It was funny and it really reminded me of one of my favorite memoirs by Chelsea Handler "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea". BB was so open and honest! I found myself literally laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Whether you're married or not, it's universally acknowledged that the marriage institution is hard work! And it was so nice reading about her struggles with her husband and how her journaling helped them get to a new level in their relationship.

I definitely would recommend this book! This was a light hearted, funny read, but it was interesting to see how BB and Ken's relationship would play out especially with his knowledge of her exes (and she does not sugarcoat what happened sexually with her exes). Every time I picked this book up to read it I felt like BB and I were besties, like she was sitting right next to me and I was right in on the action. Her writing is great (especially for a first time author) and I cannot wait for the other books in the series.

Genre: Romantic Comedy/Memoir
Type: Standalone Book 1 of 5 from 44 Chapters series
POV: First Person - Female
Rating:

Being a school psychologist, BB was no stranger to behavior modification methods. However, despite having a hot husband, Ken that she truly loved, she couldn't change his cold, emotionless behavior. That was until she had an epiphany after discovering Ken was reading her journal. Thus came about the Subliminal Spousal Bibliotherapy - influencing Ken's behavior by feeding him embellished journal entries.

I've been seeing authors loving this book so I was intrigued. And I haven't read a light, funny book for a while so the timing was perfect and I really did enjoy it.

Ken only tells me he loves me whenever one of us is about to leave the house, and even then I think he’s just doing it to cover his bases in case one of us dies in a horrible car accident or something.

The writing was entertaining and I like how the author was not afraid to make fun of herself. I have to say though, it kind of make me feel bad I wasn't that crazy ass when I was younger lol!

Knight and I weren’t friends. We were just predator and prey. He’d been hunting me for over a year, and my dumb ass just fell right into his trap.

Each one of BB's ex had their own charm but my favorite is definitely Knight. I love him from the beginning and I'm both excited and scared to read his book - considering what I already know from this book. I just want him to not... well you know if you read the book :p

44 Chapters About 4 Men is a highly entertaining memoir of a woman's dating life when she was younger and how it led to the love of her life. It would appeal to readers looking for a fresh, light, fun read.

I haven't laughed this hard in... Gosh, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a romance novel. This ish was freaking hilarious!

I knew I was going to love this story from its introduction. If you've followed this author on any of her social media, you'll quickly realize that she writes the way she talks. It's real, it's honest, and it's incredibly endearing. I've come to adore this woman so much just from reading and hearing her words. Despite its embellishments, 44 Chapters was a memoir about the 4 most memorable men of BB's life. This story was pretty fatalistic in that we already know how it ends up. But the journey... y'all... Worth it!

Obviously I loved Ken's character the most. He was the unlikely hero in BB's story, after a short lifetime of picking toads. Ken was the complete opposite of everyone and everything that BB took a shining too. He was clean cut, intelligent, ambitious, reserved, and responsible. Where were his tattoos? Piercings? Prior delinquencies? He was a 'good guy'. In fact, compared to those who preceded him, he was an absolutely awesome guy.

First there was the skinhead who was nothing like any skinhead I've ever met or heard of. Bullied into a relationship, BB unfortunately learned the hard way the ugliness that was hiding inside him. Love turned to obsession, violence begat more violence, and she let him go before he could do real damage. Then there was the rebound. He was basically a handsome vagrant with bad teeth and ridiculous tattoos. The way BB described those tattoos had me doing everything possible not to piss my pants. Too freaking funny! Then there was the metal rock star. Now I was totally infatuated with this guy. Who could resist the emotional, sensitive, manly, beautiful soul of an artist this man turned out to be? I was a bit sorry to see him go. But nothing and no one outshone Ken. Regardless of the fact that he acted more like a robot than the human he appeared to be, he was perfection. I couldn't blame BB for wanting more, because a woman wants what she wants, but I did think that she got one of the best men out there from what I've read. Lucky woman!!

I loved how this was phrased by journal entries and emails. It was different and I'm always a fan of the unique. I appreciated the honesty that bled from these pages even though the story was fictionalized. BB didn't color herself with an airbrush, hiding her flaws or mistakes. She embraced her humanity, split herself open, and allowed the reader to witness her misadventures and swim in her truth. The good, the bad, and the ugly were all laid bare and I don't think I could adore her more!

I am 1000% positive that no other books has EVER made me laugh as hard as 44 Chapters About 4 Men did. This. Book. Is. BRILLIANT. I mean... WOW. First of all, Easton's writing style blew me away. I was HOOKED from the very first word, sucked in by the very first paragraph, and by the end of the first chapter? Forget about getting anything else done in my life because all I could do was INHALE this book.

The premise of this book is already fascinating in and of itself -- here's this woman, happily married but bored out of her mind, because her husband (or "husbot" as she likes to call him) lacks any inkling of passion and/or romance. His idea of a date is falling asleep together on the couch after renting a movie, and Easton does all the work (including initiation) when it comes to sex. I'm pretty sure at least 50% of married women can relate to the struggles depicted in Easton's memoir. So, what does she do? Well, she's happy, so she decides to just use her free time to write about some of her exes, to kind of live vicariously through those passionate times. All is fine and dandy -- until the husbot finds her journal. But does he get mad? Does he throw her out and demand a divorce? No. Instead... he LEARNS from it. He emulates what she loved about her first boyfriend, gives her some sexy time she's never had from him, and suddenly, the idea clicks into place.

Use the journal to get Husbot to transform.

So, yes, the premise was amazing. I was SO on board, because I knew hilarity (and probably failure) would ensue. But, it wasn't the premise that made this story as amazing as it was -- it was 100% the writing. Easton's prose was absolutely hypnotizing. It was smart, witty, HILARIOUS, and at times, packed a punch with so many feels I had to stop and just hold my Kindle for a second. Any woman who was a teenage girl in the 90s/2000s will identify with Easton's horrendous, yet hilarious, dating spells. Any mother will identify with her battle of guilt when getting busy in a non-traditional way once you've popped kids into the world. Any married woman will identify with her struggles (and successes) when it comes to "dating" after being with someone for a long, long time. And, honestly, any woman (or man) with a taste for smart humor will absolutely devour every word of Easton's like delicious little gummy bears of fun. This books is just... outstanding. An absolute must read.

"I want to take him with me everywhere. I want us to live a hundred years and die at the same time. I want them to mix our cremated remains together, dump us into a river, and watch our mingled ashes swirl like coffee creamer all the way to the ocean. I want our souls (okay, my soul and his, whatever he has, operating system?) to find each other on the other side as soon as possible just so that we can fall in love and make more babies and do it all over again."

This is my first time reading a book like this (a memoir/fictional piece of romance), and it's got me dying for more. Luckily, there are four other books in this series from BB Easton. I cannot WAIT to dive into the next one!

I can see why so many love this book. It made me laugh out loud so many times. No one can say BB Easton isn’t funny. I enjoyed her writing and her husband, Ken. I’m curious to read ‘Suit’ and ‘Skin’ after finishing this. Some of the stories were a little wild and over the top but overall I liked it!

Oh B.B. Easton, where have you been all my life?!?!?!?!?! Seriously though, I can’t believe I’ve never read her smut before now. I’ll be honest and say that despite the fact I am usually gal #1 to Google “was that originally a book?” when a new movie or series is advertised because I am a reader rather than a watcher, I didn’t really have an interest in having anything to do with Sex/Life. You see, not only am I not a huge T.V. fan, but I am also a good girl and like my porn all nicely disguised in the confines of my Kindle rather than bumping and grinding on the ol’ tellie where my teenager could walk in at any moment embarrassing us both for eternity. I also assumed this program had not initially been a book. But then I heard about a *cough certain scene cough* . . . . .

So I Googled “was that originally a book?” while attempting to find said scene via some sort of interweb backdoor in order to maintain my closet voyeurism and not give my husband the wrong impression that I was interested in making the sexytimes. There you have the long and short of how I found my new best friend B.B. Now let me introduce you in case you haven’t met. Goodreads’ friends, meet B.B. . . . .

Unfortunately she’s married to a fella much like this . . . . .

Therefore, some covert ops must happen in order for her to get the banging she deserves . . . .

After consulting with the devil on my shoulder, I’ve decided to embark on a morally bankrupt psychological experiment with the hopes of transforming Ken into someone warm and affectionate whose love for me is so immense that he needs a tattoo of my name and/or likeness just so that he can better broadcast his feelings for me to the world.

What’s the experiment, you ask???? Well, after the husbot apparently read some steamy offerings in B.B.’s journal he took the bait and gave her a taste of what she was looking for and a plan was hatched . . . .

I’m going to start planting a glossily exaggerated Lifetime movie version of you under the filename Super Private Journal That Ken Is Never, Never Allowed to Read Ever where I will plant completely fabricated stories about my ex-boyfriends designed to inspire Ken to up his fucking game.

And that’s just what she does. Hilarity ensues. I am for real this was laugh out loud funny at times. And also really porny. Like . . . .

I have no idea how this translates to the screen and I have no intention of finding out. This was a hilariously raunchy way to spend an afternoon and that’s all that matters to me : )

This has to be one of the best books I've read all year. BB Easton, a new-to-me author, knocked it out of the park with this story. It's brilliant, witty, OTT, hilarious, and cringeworthy. It also will make you blush and fan yourself. I've never read anything like it! For most of this book, I cackled and gave a play-by-play to my husband because it was just too good not to share. BB has a stalker for life now. In fact, I can tell you what she's doing right this second because I'm peeking in her window and...

Anyway...READ THIS BOOK. I highly recommend it!

you know me… i love a juicy memoir.

this one follows school psychologist BB Easton who tries to use her online journal, where she reminisces on her previous sexual escapades, to essentially train her vanilla husband into being wilder in bed.

the netflix show Sex/Life was based off of this journal and the show is a guilty pleasure of mine so i figured id listen to the audiobook, which ended up feeling like i was on a facetime call with a friend who was giving me just a *bit* toooo much detail about her questionable (and even at times problematic) hookups. i was both horrified and impressed.
super informal and psychologically misguided but if you’re a nosy bitch with no life like me and you’re looking for something raunchy to read? this did the trick.

B.B. Easton writes with a level of humor and snark that is endlessly entertaining. Seriously. Someone give this woman an award. 44 Chapters About 4 Men is hilariously and surprisingly honest. The fact that this book is a fictionalized memoir based on true events from BB's life makes me love this book even more. This is an absolute MUST READ! I will definitely be picking the individual books for each of the 4 men we meet in 44 Chapters.

This book was sort of a half and half experience for me. Some parts I enjoyed and some I didn’t. The writing is great and I was immediately taken with Ken the husband. Some parts were a little over the top but I liked the dynamic of BB and her men. I’m sure I’ll be reading the other books in the series.

After nine years of marriage, Brooke “BB” Easton is on a mission to influence her husband, Ken, into changing certain characteristics of his behavior. As a school psychologist, BB is well versed in behavior modification but when she realizes her private journal has been compromised, the experiment begins. With carefully constructed entries that include a bit of fiction, BB is determined to reach her goals and reap the benefits.

“Kenneth Easton had all the power, and he was using it to make me take control. As much as I didn’t appreciate being manipulated, I couldn’t deny how empowering it was to be the puppet master of this hunky, mysterious, real-life Ken doll.”

From the beginning, the first person narrative made me laugh due to the ease of BB writing in such a self-deprecating manner. While there were times when she was ready to strangle Ken, it was balanced by the many good qualities he possesses. And getting to the place where BB could appreciate Ken’s strengths was based on her past boyfriends and their unique experiences together.

“Whenever Knight told the story, he would always muse, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight. It’s the size of the fight in the dog.”

To discover whether BB was successful in her experiment, you’ll have to read the book, but she writes about her own insecurities and bad decisions with a certain honesty that is entertaining and relatable.

44 Chapters About 4 Men is a humorous and sexy read. It’s recommended to start with this book as a foundation before moving on to other books in the series.

Well, this was fun! When I saw this book, I knew that I would have to give it a try. I found it to be a great escape for just a bit. I found myself chuckling every once in a while and I related to the events in the book more often than I would care to admit. I am so glad that I decided to take a chance with this book.

The book is told through a series of journal entries. When BB realizes that her husband Ken has read her journal, she decides to embellish some of the events to help encourage Ken to step up his game. She starts a second journal that chronicles the events going on with Ken and that tell us what really happened. We get to see 4 of the relationships that have shaped BB’s life. Knight, who she dated in high school, was kind of scary but sweet to BB at times until he wasn’t. Next up is Harley who has some strange tattoos and sometimes seemed clueless. Hans was a bass player who was smitten with BB. Then she met Ken, who didn’t seem to be her type until she really got to know him. Now she just needs to get her accountant husband to bring some of the wildness from her past into their relationship.

This was a nice light read. A straightforward conversation between BB and her husband might have been able to achieve the same results but it probably wouldn’t have been as much fun. I worked my way through the book quite quickly and had a smile on my face the whole time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun quick read. I don’t think that I will read any further in this series but I would check out more books by this author in the future.

This book was truly... something.. I have never read a book like it. It's like if Jenny Lawson and Allie Brosh co-wrote a steamy romance novel.

So, what's this book about?
School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.

After spending years trying to spice up my sex life, I gave up and took to my journal. Perhaps my gorgeous number-crunching husband simply wasn’t capable of the kind of passion I’d come to expect from my tattooed and testosterone-fueled ex-boyfriends. If I couldn’t have that kind of passion again in real life, I could at least write about it. Right? Nobody had to know. It would be my little secret.

Well, guess what? My husband found my journal.

And guess what else? He upped his game.

Soon I began testing the limits-crafting journal entries specifically designed to influence Ken’s behavior. For the most part, he responded beautifully…except for when he didn’t. And then I got the surprise of my life.

Let me start by saying that EMOTIONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION IS NOT AN OKAY WAY TO FIX YOUR MARRIAGEEEEE

Okay, now that that's out of the way... I did enjoy this book. It started out as a solid five stars but the further I got into it, it started to feel a tad repetitive and a bit slow. I think it might have been because of the way it was organized.

Overall, this book was pretty funny and surprisingly steamy.

CW: Gay slur, dubious consent, relationship between older man (22) and younger woman (17), one person/character is a skinhead (but it's that they are not racist) and some language used to describe "skinhead" &their culture might be troubling to some readers.

I picked this up not realizing it was memoir/fiction. But times are weird right now and I thought I would enjoy something a bit different. I was incredibly underwhelmed and did not finish the book.

I understand that this was originally self published and is now being packaged for a larger audience and movie. I can not believe that a gay slur was used three times in this book. I was caught off guard, no warning, no real lead up to it. I believe it was used to portray one of her previous boyfriends ignorance? I couldn’t really wrap my head around it. It’s 2020, when do you think we stop using gay slurs?

She also dates a skinhead, but he’s not a racist so that makes it okay. I guess? It was weird. The way she describes their first sexual encounter was borderline non-consensual. I remember those days of being young and not really understanding sex and how consent worked, but again, perhaps there should be a warning for readers in the front of the book instead of a glossary of a bunch of made up words.

I got to the part where she realized her husband read her diary and her first inclination was to start talking about her ex-boyfriends in a glamorized way as to entice her husband to be more romantic and spontaneous. I’m supposed to believe that a highly educated woman in the field of mental health & behavior modification chooses this over having a conversation with her husband? As opposed to going to see a therapist. That she’s going to do all this to make her husband be a better husband.

Then the next chapter starts and she enters into a relationship with a 22 year old man as a 17 year old girl. As someone who was traumatized by older men when I was a teenager, I would have appreciated a warning. I thought all the relationships she was going to explore were adult ones.

At this point I was done with the book. It is fair to say that the humor missed me.

I can't even tell you in proper words what this book did to me.

I have been BB's fan even before I read her book. And after reading, I've become a full blown stalker. This book is an experience and it will stay with me forever. I laughed so hard I fell off my bed, I sniffled till it hurt my head. I absolutely ADORE all the four men and if you force me to chose I'll rather jump off a cliff.

It's possibly one of the realest books I've ever read. Nothing is sugarcoated. You get real, raw emotions and that's one of the best things about this book. (The other being Knight! Hush pretend i didn't say that.)

If you have any preconceived notions about this book, I suggest you throw them out the window and run in the opposite direction. I bet that you won't be prepared for it one bit.

Also, I wanna say BB is a fucking rockstar! I LOVE her work and I have become a lifelong fan after this. ~Sonal

While catching up on my new releases on amazon I see this title in Thursdays top sellers. The reviews and ratings are almost 5 stars! The author is a new one, someone named BB EASTON who claimed she is a psychologist and wrote this book as an experiment per se. I thought, wow what a brilliant idea! Immediately I purchased and bumped this in front of all my publisher reviews, which I am behind. If only I can take back the whole day it took me to get through this book.
Yes the idea was BRILLIANT! Try to change your husbands behavior by planting a fake journal so he can read. Brilliant idea, her execution however was horrible. Horrible. There was some laugh out loud moments, she was very witty,I enjoyed her dedication over the whole book, which was so redundant and repetitive I could not wait for it to end.
I could now believe these 5 star reviews! What is happening to our literary world? Minimal editing, word usage? Lord she made up a glossary of terms she invented. I get that it was part of her humor, but there is only so much crap I can read! This was just down right horrible. I say 2 stars. I may have been generous because I was thrilled to be done with this one! This was hours I can't get back, and trust me I have read some terrible things. I am sorry, I do not recommend and I question the people who gave this wonderful reviews.

💝 FREE on Amazon today (4/2/2018)!💝

School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered “unethical” and “a fireable offense.” Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.

After spending years trying to spice up my sex life, I gave up and took to my journal. Perhaps my gorgeous, cold, number crunching husband simply wasn’t capable of the kind of passion I’d come to expect. After all, my ex-boyfriends—a skinhead turned US Marine turned motorcycle club outlaw, a baby-faced punk rocker out on parole, and a heavy-metal bass player—were every bit as tattooed and testosterone-fueled as the leading men in my favorite romance novels.

For the most part, he responded beautifully…except when he didn’t.

Making this short and sweet.

There aren't many books thay make me almost pee my pants. That being said, it's even more rare when the book is by a first-time author.

BB Easton's writing is smart, thoughtful and hilariously poetic. She inserts cringe-worthy tales with serious real-life situations in such a way that leaves you forever turning that page.

BB shows promise as a new author and her future works will go to the top of my TBR. I urge you to read this book when it releases.

I had so much fun reading this. It was hilarious, yep it had so many laugh out loud moments. I loved BB’s manipulative mind(some were over the top though) and Ken was just too adorable.

4 Hilarious (not for everyone) but highly entertaining Stars

I’ve seen this book floating around for some time now. I was kind of confused on what book to read first or how this one is different from the other books.

So here’s what 44 Chapters about 4 Men is about, it’s 44 Chapters about 4 Men. LOL. I crack myself up. Okay so I’m not sure if this is a true story, I think it is, it’s probably fluffed up a little, but I’m okay with that. The author writes about the 4 men in her life that has made a difference in her life. One of them is her husband.

This book is really great via Audio. The author writes in story-told format. So if you are like a dialogue whore like me, it’s very minimal, HOWEVER I gobble descriptive writing via audio so yay I win.

The best thing about this book is the writing. The author writes REALLY REALLY REALLY well. It just flows, it’s effortless and it’s highly addictive to listen to. It doesn’t hurt that the narrator is amazing. Ramona Master made this book by narration. She can act, does excellent voice transitions and I 100% know I enjoyed this book a lot better because I listened to it by her.

I said this book isn’t for everyone and it’s not. It’s not a romance book, it’s just a funny book about a young adult women rambling about her sexcapades. Did I mention this book is hot? I didn’t know it was smutty erotica, so bonus points for that.

The book starts out with the author mentioning how she loves her husband except for the fact he is a cold fish during sex. It sounds worst than it is, but it’s the theme of the book. You really do feel for the husband, but then you also learn to love him because he truly is the right fit for her.

BEFORE you get to the full husband’s story, you go through the ex’s, starting when she lost her V-Card at 15. It’s hard to hold an emotional tie to her ex’s because the stories are just told so quickly that you get to listen to the best parts and then that’s it. That is why I guess the author decided to write each Ex his story. I’m not sure if I can dive into those (only because I know 3 out of the 4 books will not end HEA) but I am curious to what else went on in her past relationships.

To keep the story moving a little better, through out the book you get glimpses of her current life married, with two kids and is breastfeeding. I really liked this because it made her husband present throughout the book.

Overall, it’s a very funny story. I wasn’t expecting any of it, but I’m glad I finally got around to knocking this book off my to-be-read list.

Side note, I did stalk the author to see what she and her husband looked like on her facebook page (although the husband’s full face was never shown) they are a CUTE couple and it kind of makes me like the book a little more. Only because when she mentioned how handsome her husband is, well she’s correct on that front and wasn’t talk out of her ass (or at least by what I could see).

4.5 STARS!!

I finally found the courage to ask myself the question I’d been running from since Kenneth motherfucking Easton came into my life. What if Ken’s not expressing his feelings for me because they’re just not there?

I don't know what I was expecting when I went into this, but it sure wasn't what I got. I mean, this was a freebie that has been sitting on my Kindle for at least a year, if not more. There were so many reasons for me to love this story. I've always enjoyed stories that are told in an unconventional way, such as e-mails, interviews, or journal entries (which was the case in this one). I think the clean breaks sooth my ADHD-addled brain while the originality keeps me on my toes. I also love stories about misbehaving youths, and that's simply because they allow me to relive my glory days. AND, in the present day, the narrator is... you guessed it... the mother of two kids, one of which is under a year. She is breastfeeding, for fuck's sake. As the mother of a 6-week-old, I have never related more. Finally, not only am I currently breastfeeding a tiny human, but I am also homeschooling an 8-year-old due to a fucking pandemic... while my husband is out of work due to aforementioned pandemic. I needed something enjoyable and funny, a read that didn't take itself too seriously. THIS BOOK LITERALLY CHECKED EVERY SINGLE BOX, and you bet your ass I have already bought the next four books. Considering I just confessed that the only adult in the household able to work currently isn't, that should tell you A LOT about how much I liked this one.

It took about three weeks for me to get past Ken’s lack of tattoos and emotional range, but once I finally realized how stupid I was over this guy, I knew it was time to do what I did best—spread my legs.

The premise sounds complicated, but it's really not. Our narrator BB, who is a school psychologist, has been married to her husband Ken for about a decade. They have two kids and lead a very stable life. Ken is an accountant that treats BB very well, but he can be cold and emotionless at the best of times. Still, after dating only bad boys that broke her heart, BB loves the stability Ken provides her. That being said, as a reformed punk-rock partier, she still has that crazy streak. She loves Ken with all her heart- and yes, I truly believed that- but she wants to make him perfect. She keeps a journal on her laptop, and one night she figures out that Ken has read an entry about Knight, her first boyfriend from when she was fifteen. How does she figure it out? Because he does something out of character that she LOVES. That's when she (and her BFF) come up with an idea: why not write a made-up journal about all of her ex-boyfriends that addresses all of Ken's shortcomings and motivates him to fix them? This means we now have 2 journals, one catered to Ken reading it and one that is actually true. The romanticized version of these exes are always hot, sweet, and somewhat funny entries. But then we get to read the reality, and that's always downright sidesplittingly hilarious. So, really, this is a preview of the boys who gets the next four books: Knight (a skinhead who isn't racist Skin), Harley (AKA Ding-Dong, a stoner Speed), Hans (a bass player in a metal band Star), and Ken (her husband Suit). I loved all of them in their own way. I honestly don't even know if the books are based on the real or the fake version of these boys, and I don't think I care. I am confident BB belongs with Ken, so I just want to know what happens to all of them!

Now I’m starving. Now I’m screaming at him from inside my head to make me feel something. Now I’m talking to my journal like some kind of imaginary friend. Now I’m fantasizing about my loser ex-boyfriends and devouring bad-boy romance novels like they’re my last meal.

Alright, so since this is going on my favorites shelf, why not 5 stars? Even though it did have heart, it's clearly not winning a Nobel prize anytime in the near future. Also, while I didn't have any moral objections to what she was doing- it's a work of fiction, for fuck's sake- I did find her to be selfish at times. Also, there was something a bit confusing about the fact that she wanted her husband to be more like her exes. She even admitted that her marriage has lasted five times longer than any of her previous relationships. So... did she ever stop to think that maybe that was because Ken was different? And let's be honest- some of her expectations were downright ridiculous. But also, some of them... weren't. And in those moments, I found Ken to be the pain in the ass. It's not shocking that right now, I would sympathize with a postpartum working mother, but let's be honest- if a woman births two of your children, you should be rubbing her feet and paying her compliments monthly at the very least. Hormones are a fucking bitch, and they exist to turn molehills into mountains. If you know what she wants, fucking give it to her! I have zero doubt my husband would say the same thing. It keeps the peace in the house, and considering we're stuck inside for the foreseeable future, a fucking foot rub seems a small price to pay, am I right?! Anyway, I got off track there for a minute, but the point remains the same: if you're looking for a good time and you aren't easily offended, read this book ASAP!

Complete and utter lack of passion aside, I still love the shit out of Kenneth Easton. In fact, he’s my all-time favorite person. I think I even like him more than our kids. (Honestly, what have those little shits done for me lately?)

Ready for your world to be rocked? Here goes:

And that’s when it occurred to me. Not ten minutes ago, that exact same nipple had been in the baby’s mouth. And a few years ago, it had been in my son’s mouth. So, this is what a family is, I thought. Just a houseful of people who’ve all sucked on your tits. And have also been inside your vagina.

This is not my preferred genre to read but if you want a sexy memoir then you'll like it way more.

The writing is very easy. It doesn't feel too constructive or edited. And, yes, the author doesn't hold back on abusing.
