Two years later.

Anderson Cain’s life has changed so much. But then not so much.
The hunger for violence and bloodshed is still raw, still as consuming as ever. The need to know where he came from, and how he got there, is still as pungent as ever. The need for pain and degradation he craves is now becoming unbearable, and the crushing constraint he fights with, not to mix brutality with sex, is growing fiercer with every breath.
Yet, there is one thing that fills his lungs with pure air, one thing that gives his life purpose and hope, and only one thing that calms the turbulent storm of rage inside him.
Sam. The epitome of his mother.
The replica of the gentle soul Anderson will never forget. Never stop loving. Never stop longing for.

Unwilling to allow anyone to destroy the only thing he lives for, Anderson’s life is thrown into hell when Sam suddenly takes ill. The very thing that owns Anderson’s cold and damaged heart is threatened, and when it seems like history has a nasty way of repeating itself, once again, an unexpected soul steps up and takes hold of his hand.

The calm and serenity only one woman could give him was snatched away two years ago, and he thought he would never feel that quietness in the core of him once again.
Except, sometimes, someone, somewhere, offers us retribution for our sins. A hand reaches out to hold ours. And a gentle heart can, and does, settle the fury inside us.

Amidst suffering.
Comes mercy.
And punishment.

This book contains scenes of violence and sex. 18+ years.

In Bound we are reunited with Anderson Cain after two years has passed. Since then, Anderson’s life has been filled with pain and sorrow but also moments of joy whenever he is with his son. Still, fighting in the underground sates his aggression and having his friend, Robbie, helps to ease Anderson’s unique needs as well.

“It’s always amazes me how tenderness shocks you. Yet the bite of pain doesn’t.”

Jeanie Carlson is a divorced pediatric nurse with a naturally docile personality. Having experienced trying times in her life, she understands loss, rejection and fear but it doesn’t make dealing with life any easier. When Jeanie meets Anderson, she feels an innate sense of safety with him despite his brusque exterior and given her current situation.

“There was something hypnotic in the way she looked at me, like she begged me for something I wasn’t sure of, asked me for hope, and pleaded with me to help her.”

Observing people is one of Anderson’s strengths and his intuition tells him that Jeanie is frightened, submissive yet forthright. In addition, he sees emotions that mirror his and for the first time since Khloe, Anderson begins to think about having more. When it becomes evident that Jeanie craves what Anderson can provide, they move forward to experience their darkest desires.

“He was back inside me with another hard thrust. Except, this time, he didn’t take me gently. He fucking owned me. He annihilated every thought in my head.”

In starting Bound, I wasn’t sure what to completely expect, as I had some reservations about just how Anderson’s life was going to progress because I was completely satisfied with how his story ended in Caged. That said, as the plot progressed, it became clear that it was time for Anderson to take the next step in his life. With Jeanie, she felt like a natural match for Anderson with her caring and kind nature. There were moments when I felt protective for Anderson, but he ultimately needed closure for his family. As always, Robbie proved to be a standout friend and I hope he continues to be a part of Anderson’s life in every delicious way.

In this novella, DH Sidebottom succinctly captures the dark and raw emotions of her characters, by showing how their vulnerabilities can lead to strength. From the first page, I was hooked and I appreciated how she was able to take Anderson to a new level.

For those familiar with Anderson’s story, I recommend Bound!

Genre: Erotic Thriller
Type: Book 2.5 from Caged series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

It's been two years since Anderson Cain's heart was left empty. The only thing that kept it going was the pure soul in the form of Sam. But when Sam got sick, it threatened whatever little footing Anderson had.

With her warm personality and gentle heart, Jeanie Carlson made for a good nurse. But beyond her pleasant facade, she had a past that could change any potential future.

I love Anderson and I was happy with how his story ended. Still, it was nice to have more of him. But the thing is, there's one element in the story that I wasn't satisfied with.

I couldn’t understand what or why we had, yet deep in the pit of my stomach I couldn’t ignore the feeling of familiarity.

Since this is just a novella, I feel it needed more length to comfortably introduce a new main character to the series. It seemed too abrupt for me to warm up to Jeanie. Besides, I hold loyalty to Anderson's past. I wanted the story to go to a certain direction, alas, my hope left unfulfilled.

Trailing a finger along one of the paths, I collected my own blood and slid it between my lips. Anderson did the same, but with his thumb. His eyes locked onto mine when he sank it between his lips and sucked hard.

I'm glad the dark kinky fuckery was still present. At least partially, my hope was satisfied in this way haha!

4* little red wolf STARS!!

Review @ Midnight Romance

I was surprised to know this novella because the previous books, Caged and Chained ended up just okay for me. Honestly, I didn't expect much from this but surprisingly, I liked it. Anderson Cain still couldn't move on since Kloe's death. He's still fight and consumed with brutality. Also his dark needs to be satisfied and thanks to Robbie, his best friend.

Suddenly his two years old son, Sam fallen ill and it scared him the most. Part's of Kloe to be taken away. But another surprise came when a red-head nurse, Jeanie Carlson. With her kind and warm smile, Anderson started to feel something. They became close. Jeanie is an easy person. I liked her instantly. But something bad happened with her.

When Jeanie's in danger, Anderson became her protector. They started to attracted and open with each other, especially when Jeanie 'confessed' her lifestyle. She's really submissive and masochist which is I liked. It was really match made in heaven. Jeanie trust him so much and begin to fall for him. I really enjoyed their togetherness. Raw, sexy and dangerous.
“I want to give you this, Jeanie. I want to watch the rush of ecstasy make your beautiful body flush just for me.”
“Oh God.”
“I want to consume your pain, feast on it. I want to sink so far inside you that your pain will become mine, your pleasure the very thing that stops the beat of my heart.”

He fucking owned me. He annihilated every thought in my head. He took me to the edge of euphoria and dragged me back before I could touch nirvana.

I'm really happy with Anderson's transformation. He's less intense, more flirty and joking around. It was unpredictable how much he changed since with Jeanie. The only problem is, with the sudden love's confession. I wouldn't mind with longer pages to deepens their bond. Overall, totally loved it! I'm satisfied with the happy ending. He deserved it.
Anderson had been broken in so many different ways. And it was time he was loved in many more ways. He was right, life and love should be grabbed by the horns. Love should be the easiest emotion we ever felt, the easiest lesson we ever learned.

“Although I’d only just met Anderson, I knew we had a connection. I couldn’t understand what or why we had, yet deep in the pit of my stomach I couldn’t ignore the feeling of familiarity. I had never experienced what some described as ‘love at first sight’ but that didn’t mean it didn’t exist.”

“Sometimes, it's not what we say with words, but how we say it with our gestures, or the special things we do. The way we look at someone, or the way we smile at them when they laugh. “I had let her creep inside me and soothe my raging soul. Just her presence was like a balm to the furious grief that tightened a band around my chest. The last few weeks with Jeanie had been the oxygen my blood needed to flow with, the pulse my heart needed to keep beating.”

This was my favorite. I loved how this book was, minus Sam getting Sick.
Anderson Cain had been through so much with the loss of Khloe and was raising there son all on his own.
He deserves what he got in the end.

A novella to quench my thirst for Anderson Cain! Insanely hot and twisted. You must read the Caged series before this one, do that first.

This was a much needed add-on to amazingly twisted duet! Sidebottom grabbed my attention from the get go and twisted my insides until everything was perfectly put back together. This was frosting on an already delicious cake, lemon cake, because it's bitter but deliciously decadent.

I loved that this story was short, in a way, it was that breath that I needed to let go, because it hurt to keep it in, and any longer would've been too much for me. At times I felt this pain, but then it was soothed with pleasure. I'll admit, I got teary eyed a few times, the feelings of loss were ever present, yet the growth within the characters was astounding to witness. I feel like it all came full circle.

"Sometimes, we hear I love you in the silence we share, or the songs we sing mindlessly to each other. We feel it with a gentle touch, or a passionate kiss.”

This one being on the lighter, dark for Sidebottom, it still contains the darkly erotic scenes that we crave. I, for one was ready to get my fan out. Unconventional love making as I call it. My darker needs met.

“I want to consume your pain, feast on it. I want to sink so far inside you that your pain will become mine, your pleasure the very thing that stops the beat of my heart.”

If you loved the first two books, this one is going to heal you, make you fall even more in love with Anderson Cain, and definitely make you want a story for Robbie. Or a continuation. Or whatever you can beg the author to give you.

We meet Andersen again in Bound two years after Kloe gave him Sam. Andersen is still into cage fighting trying to cope with his hunger for violence and bloodshed.
This novella painted Andersen as a committed and devoting father to his son Sam, so when his baby boy fell sick Andersen freaked out My heart raged in my chest, panic making every bone in my body tremble with fear. I couldn’t seem to breathe, my lungs squeezing tight as the horror in my mind sent my body into shock.

Andersen meets Sam's nurse Jeanie Carlson She wore a nurse’s outfit, flame red hair that cascaded over her shoulders and her eyes were the brightest blue. and know something is very wrong.

I did feel this book was a bit the same as the previous: damsel in danger, needs protection, is still taken and needs to be freed by (of course) Andersen. Not so much surprise here.

“Poo, Daddy. Poo!”
“Uh-oh.”

Did I like this conclusion of the series? I do not know, as it lack surprise. I was not so sold on the insta-love but did enjoy reading about Sam. And I would have loved some more intimate time with Robbie, a bit more M/M action than just the jerk off session.

Part of the Chained series that has to be read in order:

I needed this novella!

I needed this novella! Bound gave me the solace I needed after Caged & Chained. I didn't realize how heartbroken I still was for Anderson Cain until I read Bound. It's suspensful and disconcerting, but in a dark erotic way Bound is heartwarming. I love they way Anderson is with Sam and how he still honors Kloe. Of Course Robbie is still a great support system for Anderson too ;) But I'm so happy that Jeanie came into their lives. She's perfect for them. Bound is a captivating quick read. It's a story that is emotional & gritty but it gave me the contentment that I needed. Oh So Good!!!

To be honest I wasn't sure how I felt about this book going in. After reading the first two books I loved Anderson and had made peace with the fact the he and I would learn to survive with our hearts ripped out. BUT she did it again. Even though this was a short and quick glimpse into Andersons life it did not disappoint, It was all there. His struggle, his DARK sex life and his sadness but most importantly his joy and while writing this I've just realized that SHE taught him this. Love you little wolf!!

This novella begins 2 years after the loss of Chloe. Anderson Cain tries to get through life caring for their son Sam and still fighting the dark within. When something awful causes Cain to bring his young child to the hospital he just might meet a young nurse that can pull him out of his grief for losing Chloe. Great continuation of the caged series! Oh and Robbie is also included

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews

I loved this story, every tortured soul deserves a happy ending.

Please don’t read this if you haven’t read Caged and Chained.

I was so sad at the end of Chained so I was eager to read this to find out how Anderson is coping as a single father to his son Sam.

This book is set 2 years after Chained and just when you think nothing else could possibly go wrong, Anderson’s son becomes seriously ill and is taken to hospital. This is every parent’s worst nightmare and it was emotional to read.

Every cloud has a silver lining and in this case, that’s a friendly nurse called Jeanie who looks similar to Kloe and shows him kindness during his despair.

Jeanie has some secrets of her own and Anderson connects to a side of her that she keeps well hidden from most of the people in her life.

It would be a huge spoiler to go into detail about the story so I’ll finish by saying that I highly recommend this quick read and it was the perfect ending to Anderson’s story.

You absolutely need to read this series in order. Caged is book 1 and Chained is book 2 and know that this book is VERY DARK. Read the warnings and if you don’t like this type of book don’t read it!

Bound is a Novella and is the 2.5 book of the Caged Series. Bound starts off 2 years after Kloe dies. Anderson’s son Sam gets sick and is rushed to the hospital. I can’t say more because I would give away a spoiler. This is a very short book so it is easily read but, it does grab at your heart strings! I loved reading Bound!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of Bound and I give this book 4.5 STARS. And, I wonder if more is to come. I hope so.

Anderson is back and now raising his son Sam who ends up in the hospital and Anderson meets Jeanie almost a splitting image of Kloe his wife who he misses everyday. Jeanie has had loss herself and secrets and opens up to Anderson about them. Will Jeanie be the woman Anderson needs to move on with? Will Sam get better? Will Jeanie open up to Anderson about who's stalking her? Very short kinky, hot as hell ending to Anderson's story. I loved this book but in my heart Anderson and Kloe will always be together. Sam stole my heart he's such a cute cookie! 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

This is a book that was so badly needed after Caged and Chained. Anderson has suffered so much throughout his life we needed a book just to make sure he made it.
Dawn is my 'Go to' author, if ever I'm in need of a captivating book I can guarantee she will always deliver.
Anderson's back in the cage, coming home after a fight one night he realises something is seriously wrong with his 2 year old son Sam. Whilst Sam's being treated in hospital Anderson forms a bond with Nurse Jeanie.
Both have dark pasts, hidden secrets and bestow similar fantasies.
This is an amazing Novella, I couldn't put it down!

A perfect conclusion to an imperfect love story. I've read it in one go, and although it didn't leave much to imagination in terms of what happens next, I still enjoyed it immensely.
Also, even though it's a third book in the series it can be read as a stand alone. The timeline is set two years after the ending of the second book, and there is a brand new heroine.
I recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark romances, and especially to those already familiar with Anderson Cain.

The third book in the Caged series and we get the chance to meet up again with the delectable, sexy hot all alpha male Anderson once again. Dawn certainly knows how to write her leading men and Anderson is up there in the top five.

We catch up with Anderson two years after the death of Kloe - he has moved on to a certain extent but he misses her dreadfully. Their son Sam is now his main priority and all his love goes into him, so when Sam falls ill Anderson is beside himself with worry, but finds a friend in Jeanie; the nurse assigned to look after Sam in hospital, he feels a connection between the both of them but Jeanie has big problems of her own to deal with without Anderson interfering with her life.

I so love the character of Anderson, he has that luscious dark side to him that makes him so addictive to read, so alpha, so sexy with a mouth to die for, strong and at times harsh, he has a big heart deep down and I do love this man.

Jeanie was an interesting character and she has some real problems that were fascinating to follow and if there is one small criticism with this book; for me - it just wasn't long enough and it felt slightly rushed, and I do feel that these characters and their story would have benefited with a much more detailed story so we could explore and enjoy them even more.

This is a compliment to Dawn, because her writing and her characters are always so interesting and captivating to read that I never want her books to end, I could have read this story forever as she brings her characters to life and into your hearts each and every time, and you never forget them. Anderson and Kloe will always remain in my heart.
A fantastic series not to be missed. !!

ARC of Bound( Caged, #2.5) by D H Sidebottom was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

In Bound we've come back into the tortured life of Anderson Cain. Anderson Cain has been through so much in his life and lost the woman that he's ever loved in the process, the mother of his child. It's been two years since Kloe's death and he's still struggling to come to terms with it.

He still craves pain like never before, needing to feed the hungry monster inside of him. His son, Sam is all he has left of Kloe. He's reminded of Kloe every time he looks at their son. Sam is the only good thing in his life, his only reason for living.

Anderson's life is thrown into a tailspin when Sam gets sick. He's frustrated and scared. He needs for Sam to beat the odds, to pull through and make a full recovery. He's beside himself with worry, not knowing what he can do to make him and Kloe's son better. He's even willing to pray. He internally asks for answers, praying to Kloe to help their little boy.

Anderson loves his son more than life itself. He ends up meeting Jeanie who is the nurse that's looking after his son. He feels an unexpected pull toward her. He feels a connection with her and can recognize the sight of fear residing in her blue eyes, the bluest eyes he's ever seen.

Jeanie Carlson is going through her own darkest hours. She's a tortured soul just Anderson. She's barely making it a day at a time. She's being taunted and terrorizred, almost on a daily basis. She's at her wits end. She's hiding so many secrets, secrets that are threatening to consume her.

Anderson has a burning desire to protect Jeanie. He sees something that enrages him, something that forces him into action. He wants to know all her secrets. He wants to know her story, the story that's written on her body.

I finished this novella on the day of its release and I'm happy. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I couldn't stop until I reached the end of Anderson's story. D H Sidebottom creates a masterful conclusion to Anderson Cain's journey and I loved it a lot. I couldn't have asked for a better ending. I have loved the character of Anderson from the very first book.

I loved his relationship with Kloe even more, and now I loved that I got to see him be a father to their little boy and open his heart up to someone else. Jeanie was an amazingly written character and I easily welcomed her presence into Anderson and Sam's life. This book deserves a five star rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

• Bound (Caged 2.5) by D. H. Sidebottom- For those of you who have not read the first 2 books please do. Cain’s story is sick, dark and twisted and if that is what you like to read than this is the series for you. The author did not disappoint with this novella. The story picks up 2 years after the death of Kloe. Cain is still violent and cage fighting. Sam is growing like a weed and is a constant reminder of what Cain lost. His best friend and twisted lover Robbie is still there to give Cain what he needs. When Sam gets sick Cain meets a nurse. There is something about this nurse that stirs feelings in Cain. When he finds out she is in some trouble he is there to help. What he didn’t expect was their mutual love for pain. While trying to keep her safe they are drawn closer together. Cain still has his demons which make for some dark painful but orgasmic sex. I loved every demented moment. It was great catching up with the characters. I knew I loved this series but reading this book made me see just how much. I look forward to the next book. I read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I give it 5 stars.

Reading books by DH Sidebottom will fill you with a varying range of feelings. She a master at twisting a story, ripping you apart and leaving you an emotional wreck but never disappointed.
Having read the first two books in this series, Caged and Chained, I wasn't expecting this novella but I'm so pleased she's written it.
I think it's essential that you read these books first as they will build a picture in your mind, giving you a sense of the characters and leaving you desperate for more, even when the chance of that is slight.
Anderson is as dominant as ever but we get a glimpse of his caring side too even though it is mixed with grief, monsters and his own turmoil.
I won't go into any further detail, other than to say that this series is a must read. An absolutely glowing 5 stars.

I only have one teeny, tiny problem...

I have fallen completely in love with Anderson all over again and it was over FAR too soon!

I loved being back in his world, his dark and incredibly seductive world. I wasn't sure I could fall for another woman after Kloe, much like Anderson, or stand a book without her but I very easily fell back into this amazing world that Dawn has created. I love that we start with Anderson's pain and we are with him as his world changes and we meet him as a father, see him again as a lover and watch with bated breath as he opens himself up again. Sam... Ah Sam. That boy has my heart, truly. He is adorable, completely adorable. Jeanie, my God I love her too! I love that appearances are deceptive and what you see isn't necessarily what you get. She is like a the sun after days and days of rain. And the effect she has on Anderson, Sam and even Robbie is amazing.

The story had me holding my breath, my heart thumping in my chest and had me devastated that it was over. I could lose myself in Dawn's words for hours without caring of the world carried on existing. She does an amazing job of luring her readers into her world and creating such an epic world/story that we don't ever want to leave. And her men... Well they speak for themselves! I haven't met one yet that I haven't wanted to devour and Anderson is no exception.

If you haven't, you really need to met him and enter his world.

You can thank me later.

This sure was a delicious short novella that will leave you well satisfied.

Anderson Cain has lived with pain for a few years now. He feels lonely but his only light, Sam his son is what keeps him going. Anderson lost his wife due to her giving birth to Sam and it was well worth it even though it tore Anderson up.

When Sam ends up ill and in the hospital, Anderson runs into a nurse that intrigues him from the get-go. She's a really nice, sweet and caring nurse who happens to end up being Sam's nurse. But Anderson can't shake the feeling that there's something wrong with her. She seems skittish at times and nervous. Anderson is bound to find out what makes Jeanie the way she is.

Ms. D.H. Sidebottom has won my heart ever since I read the Heart of Stone series and I fell in love with Mason Fox. She has a way to captivate you and you immerse yourself to her stories because they are so soul consuming.

I have not been disappointed with any of the books I've read from this author and I actually look forward to reading whatever she has next up her sleeve for us.

4.5 stars for this short, dark, gritty novella!

Anderson Cain.
A voyeur feasting on pain.

Brought to his knees by death and destruction twice already in his life, now threatened with it a third time. When along comes Jeanie. His kindred spirit. A woman as he needs.

This is short, hard hitting, hot and just, awwww!
It rounds up the series well, allowing us to see the next step in Anderson and Sam's lives. At the end of Chained I was distraught, I wanted to know how such a broken man coped with even more devastation and Bound has shown me just that.
More of the same from D H Sidebottom brilliance...shouldn't expect anything less really!

This was so not the direction I saw this book going. But I can't say I didn't enjoy it because I did. It was a small little read and I really liked where the author ended this story. I wasn't really sure how I was going to feel about where this was going but overall I enjoyed the happily-ever-after that the characters got. It was a good series I hope you enjoy it too. PS, I really like Robbie's character.

Just to be clear...I understand the reasoning behind this story and I understand that the series itself was not meant to be a sunshine and rainbows HEA type deal. Yes it’s my fault for reading this novella even though I knew what it was going to be about. I was honestly probably too closed minded and this really just turns into a rant so fair warning. No hate to the author!

My heart sort of broke when reading this. It’s not that I never wanted him to find happiness again, it’s more so how quickly he found it (quickly as in time since meeting J, not time since K’s death), in addition to A and K’s rather tragic ending.

A and K. They went through so much both together and invidiually, that I feel they truly deserved that happiness together. To be honest I feel that K deserved that type of love more so than A because in pretty much every single one of her relationships (platonic and intimate) she got fucked over. And what did she get in return? Death, a child she never got to raise, and her husband moving on and giving his love so freely to another (deserving) woman. Yes A deserves love and yes his demons aren’t his fault and yes he dealt with a whole load of loss too, I just felt that for a woman who tried so hard to lead others to the light, she deserved better. She deserved to be more than just a story to her son and she deserved so much more than to watch the man she devoted years of her of life to, devote the rest of his to someone else.

But I guess that’s life, isn’t it?

It was short, intense, raw, scorching hot! The perfect ending for Cain Anderson 's story. I loved having more of him, although at first I had my reservations, yes, team Kloe and all!

But no, I'm happy he found his HEA with that clumsy-filter-deficient-sweet Jeanie. She, too has demons and they were amazing together. Sam is a great child, they are going to build a beautiful family.

Now, where is the fifth star? Hmmm... I had issues with the way Sam was handled. For ex:

I have a question, or rather a request: Will Robbie have his own book? 😉

“I want to consume your pain, feast on it. I want to sink so far inside you that your pain will become mine, your pleasure the very thing that stops the beat of my heart.”
