Review:
I read this after Book 2, and it was kind of a disappointment. Not bad, but not worth $2. It's not necessary for the series, but I had hoped it would help me get to know some of the characters more or connect with them more, but it didn't really. It gave a bit of a look at Jasmine and Declan and their lives, but not really anything I didn't already know. If you love this series though and want every bit of it that you can get, it might be worth it.

Short story collection set within the Reconstructionist trilogy. You MUST read these in conjunction and in the correct order with the full length books of the trilogy in order for their significance to be clear. However, it isn't necessary to read this in order to fully understand the trilogy. Each adds a richness to the primary books but doesn't supply necessary information to the overall plot - more like little extras. The Graveyard Kiss was my favorite.

Defo worth reading inbetween the full books, adds that little background that's so fulfilling.

These are great stories that give you additional insight to each of the Reconstructionist books. I am not a fan of short stories, I want to open a 900 page book and lose my self into the world the author created. Usually I finish a short story and say that's it? I want more! I got each of these when I got the book so I read them and went straight into the book so I wasn't left wondering. I love Meghan's magical world and I recommend them to all my reader friends!

I'm never one to pass up on the short stories in a series, so I grabbed this grouping of them and made sure to read it all in order.

Is it good to know what supposedly happened in between books? Sure! Could I have survived without it? Yes, but in the end, I'm glad I got these little hidden glimpses. It made me understand some of the other characters a bit more. It gave a flavor of more of their personality and the goings on between stories. Copper's was especially hard, knowing what we know about Declan and his backstory.

Do you absolutely need to read these to understand the main books? No. That being said, if you want to get even more from this world, I'd recommend the investment. They are quick and easy reads to tie in to the other books.

Filling the details

Although her novels never leave gaps in the storyline. Her novellas soften her characters and make them seem even more human. DeClan always seemed so aloof he was hard to relate to. Copper tried too hard to mold him into her expectation.

Love it! The glimpses into the minds of characters we have been enjoying from third person, in their own voices, is such a treat!

I want more of a glimpse inside Kett’s mind, but the mystery is probably where a lot of his appeal comes from ;)

Short stories about the reconstructionist series.

This was three short stories meant to be read between the reconstructionist series featuring Wisteria, Jasmine and Declan. They helped flesh out the books better, and will be sad when a finish, I really liked these characters.

Insightful

Highly recommend to keep the stories flowing. It helps fill in the gaps between the books. Really enjoyed each story as they were glimpses into the background of the characters.

not super necessary

Usually novellas fill in gaps that need filling but for me these weren’t super needed or all that interesting. The last was the best of them but overall not necessary to the story

I really like these

It’s like a little back story before you read the book. It’s really interesting to see it from a different POV.

WOW! I did not see a point of view from Copper coming at all. I wonder if we'll find out how much further Declan and Copper get? And I like how everyone assumed the relationship between Declan and Wisteria, so glad I'm not the only one. Great, short read!

Merged review:

This was wonderful. I got to see more into Wisteria's life but through the eyes of Jasmine. It's deeply interesting to me how much Kett is into Wisteria but not asking her directly about herself. INTERESTING INDEED. Can't wait to read the next book!

Merged review:

A wonderful collection of short stories. I like how they are from different points of view and we get a glimpse more into everyone's histories.

Reconstructionist #2.5
An Uncut Key by Meghan Ciana Doidge is a fairly short novella in the author's Reconstructionist series and is told from Copper's point of view. If there is one story that you can skip and still retain the flow of this series/universe it's this one. Enjoy!

This kinda came as a bit of a surprise, even though I knew it was likely to happen. Kett and Jasmine. But he doesn’t want her to fulfil the terms of the contract.

Merged review:

I loved this glimpse into Declan and Copper, the witch he’s dating and living with. You know this relationship isn’t going to last, but you kinda want it to, just in case Declan doesn’t end up with Wisteria.

To read before Tangled Echoes or after? That is the question. I read it before and it was a huge teaser! I cannot wait to find out how Reconstructionist 2 will play out.
