Henry and Marc are going on vacation: seven days of camping and hiking in the Green Mountain National Forest. And this time, instead of getting stuck somewhere, they’re going to get lost. Before they’re found, they’ll visit a secluded waterfall, encounter a bear, and walk many hot sweaty miles. Marc will discover he hates trail mix and Henry will finally get an excuse to upgrade his cheap phone. There’s also a falling star and some super sweet wishes.
And because this is one of my stories, everyone will live happily ever after.
If aliens ever do land on Earth, Kelly will not be prepared, despite having read over a hundred stories of the apocalypse. Still, she will pack her precious books into a box and carry them with her as she strives to survive. It’s what bibliophiles do.
Kelly is the author of twelve novels–including the Chaos Station series, co-written with Jenn Burke–and several novellas and short stories. Some of what she writes is speculative in nature, but mostly it’s just about a guy losing his socks and/or burning dinner. Because life isn’t all conquering aliens and mountain peaks. Sometimes finding a happy ever after is all the adventure we need.
A lovely addendum to the series, free download from the author's website. She leaves Mark and Henry in a great place in their relationship, and this could make a satisfying series end. But I hope we see more of this couple--after all, this coming Christmas was hinted at!
“If we get eaten next year, I’m going to say it’s your fault.”
When their boss forces them to take two weeks off, Marc & Henry decide to go camping in the mountains of Vermont. Their adventures are hilarious and the sex is hot. But the best part is when they finally declare how they feel about each other.
Awesome addition to Marc & Henry's relationship.
Part of the Counting series that is best enjoyed when read in order:
Henry and Marc go camping...the most romantic camping trip I've ever read.
The humor is wonderful (nudity should be a natural part of camping) and their acceptance of each other is refreshing. The bear stories with fellow campers and hikers were so funny..especially when you throw in a raccoon or an even smaller animal!
I especially loved their declarations of how they felt about each other totally beautiful. I wish I'd said the words to the man in my life.
This is a great addition to the 'Counting Out' series.
4 stars I finally got around to reading the ending for Marc and Henrys story. It's been over a year that I've read the other novellas and I had to go back and read the blurb for them again to remind me which of the guys was which. But then I really enjoyed it! Those two are just too cute together! And the story had the perfect amount of fun and depth. But it's not a stand-alone, you have to read the other books to know what's going on or you'll be lost. Really liked it!
Really lovely conclusion to the series. Not quite sure why this is offered as a "half" step in the series considering it was quite long and really just felt like a 4th book in the series, but not really an issue, just strange, IMO. I've consistently preferred the bonus stories in the series more than the main ones, and this was the case here as well. Not a bad read, but didn't really blow me away, either.
Marc and Henry go camping and of course things go wrong -- which includes . But despite it all, I can feel the love between these two. I love coming back to their story and I'd love to read more mayhem that might happen. Established couples are lovely :)
Sweet and light camping adventure! Although I think I should have reread the previous books as I only vaguely remembered what happened in them and so didn’t get a great sense of who they were at the beginning, but their personalities came through in the end.
