Fierce heroine!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍
Character development: 😊😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Erica - she is a human woman who has nothing to stay on Earth for. She is an astronomer who has always looked to the stars for answers, so she signs up for the Interstellar brides' program. She is immediately matched to a Prillon warrior. A Prillon warrior who is matched with a bride always choose a second because they are at war. She will have two mates because while at war, so many Prillon warriors die, that when there are two, there is always one to take care of a mate if one of them dies.

The Heroes: Captain Cade Karter & Ronin - Cade and Ronin are Prillon warriors. Captain Karter is the commander of a coalition Battlegroup and is in charge of over 5000 beings. Ronin is with the IC (Intelligence Core) and is the second to Cade Karter. Cade and Ronin were researching the Battlegroup that was just decimated by a new Hive weapon which can apparently kill everyone without being in the vicinity.

The Story: Erica is immediately transferred to the Battleship after she is matched with Cade and Ronin. They are happy to be mated but are in a bad spot because they are in the midst of a very stressful time with the Hive having a new and powerful secret weapon for which they have no idea on how it works or what exactly it can do.

The story was decent. The guys wanted to protect their bride, so they decided not to formally mate her and give her a mating collar. Since the collar allowed mates to feel the emotions of each other and the men are in such a stressful time with what they are dealing with, and they don’t want to put her through that. It was an interesting storyline and the Hive seem to always have some bigger and badder weapon or technology. After the coalition finally figure one out, another worse one is on the horizon. I liked the fact that the heroine was strong.

This audiobook was done in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by James Anderson Foster, Rock Engle and Kelsey Navarro. I really like Kelsey Navarro’s voice and style. She does a great job. The two men are good narrators and are good at using different voices for different characters and showing emotion through their voices, but neither are on my list of favorite male narrators. I tend to like male narrators with deeper voices.

Erica Roberts is one of a handful of women who have sought out to volunteer for the Interstellar Bride program rather having been coerced, mandated, or are participating as a condition of of being released from prison to participate. As an astronomer, she's always been fascinated with the stars and feels it's her destiny to find her one true love somewhere in the vastness of space.

Prillion Commander Karter, one of the most decorated battleship leaders of the Prillion fleet, is devastated to find that the battleship Varsten, capable of housing two thousand warriors and their families, and it's support battlegroup have been decimated by the Hive. The Hive have obviously come up with a new secret weapon that's capable of destroying the entire fleet leaving it to him and his crew to come up with the miracle that stops them before it's too late.

In the ensuing chaos of sifting through the wreckage and providing aid to the few survivors, Karter receives an urgent message from Earth indicating his match has been found and is currently being transported to his location.

Now is not the time to consider bonding to anyone as there's a high probability that his own battleship is the next to be targeted by the Hive. The best course of action should be to emotionally distance himself from her and send her and his second to a safe location to protect her until/unless he survives the battle that's about to take place.

* *

Basically each installment in the series follows a cookie cutter format. 1. A crisis or doomsday situation arises. 2. Interstellar Bride matches the main character or two or three (in this case two) with their one and only ideal match with a subsequent amount of hot and heavy adult content sexy time scenes between the main characters. 3. An all out battle or solution to whatever crisis is occurring finale.

This installment follows the cookie cutter recipe. A comfort level feel good story addition to the series and for those who have wanted to see Commander Karter have his HEA.

I'm still on the bandwagon to promote my girl Warden Egara. Her continued state of grief and sadness is really bothering me so when oh when is the author going to give her the happiness she's earned .......

Man, it seems like I’ve been waiting forever for Commander Karter to be matched with his perfect mate through the Interstellar Brides Program. Well, the good Commander has been waiting since he was the very first to submit for matching over five years ago.

And Karter’d given up hope. He’d never matched with anyone until now. And now is just about the worst time ever for Karter’s mate to make an appearance. The Hive is making serious inroads in defeating the Coalition. Karter’s first duty is to protect his people and the coalition, and adding a mate into the mix just spells trouble.

But Karter cannot deny his attraction, his desire, his delight in meeting Erica. And she’s not one to step aside like a meek submissive woman. No way, no how. Erica is bound and determined to prove to Karter that the Interstellar Brides Program didn’t make a mistake and matched her to him because she’s a perfect balance of brains, beauty and strength.

I loved watching the relationship bloom between Karter, his Second and Erica. Erica is a smart and feisty woman who won’t put up with Karter and his protective ways—she’ll stand right by his side. And Karter’s Second is a perfect match for Erica too. And between the three of them, their dynamic—*fans self*—is off the charts hot. ~ Missy, 5 stars

CAPTIVATING!!!
Title: The Commanders' Mate
Series: Interstellar Brides Program
Author: Grace Goodwin
Designation: Book 15 of Series, Can Be Read As Standalone, No Cliffhanger, *Novella Length #sciencefiction #romance #spaceopera #action #adventure #triad #MFM
My Rating: Five Sexy Sci-Fi Stars****
*All of the books in the Interstellar Brides Program feature one woman finding love with one (or more) sexy warriors, usually alien but sometimes human. Each can be read as a standalone, but there is an underlying interconnected conflict with crossover characters, which is why this reviewer recommends reading the books of the series sequentially. If you're a fan of erotic sci-fi romance, it's one decision you'll never regret and will certainly enrich your reading experience. There is no page or word count given but this reviewer estimates this book to be a longer novella with approximately 40,000 words or 120 pages.

I adore science fiction, completely smitten with hot, alpha aliens, and totally addicted to romance, so when I can get the perfect trifecta of all three, I'm in reader heaven! And Grace Goodwin delivers every single time! I found Goodwin's work a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. She's one of only five Sci-Fi Romance authors on my automatic buy list. When Goodwin has a new release, I never even bother to read the blurb or reviews; I just one-click and dive in! I own all 15 books in her original Interstellar Brides Program Series, all 9 of Interstellar Brides: The Ascension Saga, all 6 of Interstellar Brides: The Colony, plus all 5 of the Interstellar Brides: The Virgins Series and, like all of her followers, anxiously await each new release. Yeah, I think it's safe to say I'm a fan, and I've never regretted a single purchase! But I digress, so let's talk about this book. Fans have been clamoring for Commander Karter's story and one thing I can say about Goodwin, she listens to her readers. This was probably one of the most highly anticipated books of the series and Goodwin delivered in spades. There were so many things I enjoyed about The Commanders' Mate. It's fast-paced, easy to follow, and well written, as always, with snappy dialogue, an intriguing storyarc, and a large cast of engaging characters. But before I continue, I'd like to say - WOOHOO! WE FINALLY FIND OUT COMMANDER KARTER'S FULL NAME! It's Makaed Karter, aka Kaed! Hey, what can I say? I've been smitten with the enigmatic Prillon warrior battleship commander since he was first introduced at the beginning of the series and like my fellow fans, I've begged shamelessly for his story. I knew it would take a very special woman to lasso this space cowboy! But Erica Roberts from Earth was so much more than just special, she was intelligent, feisty, courageous, and determined, with a capital D. She was also extremely tenacious, like a dog with a bone, and refused to allow anything to stop her from getting her man, or I should say men since Prillon warriors always mate in pairs. And she was an astrologer! How cool is that?!? Pretty darn cool, I'd say, especially since her background and knowledge in Astrology not only helped save the day but also was instrumental in saving every single person on Battleship Karter! As I said, Prillon warriors mate in pairs, two males for each female, a primary and a secondary, but I had no idea who Karter would choose as his second. I knew he'd have to be exceptional and Prillon Warrior and Coalition Intelligence Core Commander Ronan Wothar was definitely one hunk of hot alpha love! WARNING, WARNING, WILL ROBINSON! Sexy times ahead! lol... Ronan had been Karter's life-long best friend and chosen second, that is until 5 years ago when he was reported killed in action. Thankfully, Ronan wasn't dead; he had been working with the Coalition's super-secret spy organization dubbed the Intelligence Core. If you've read Fighting for Their Mate, you may recall it featured human female warrior Commander Chloe Phan, who at one time was also an agent for the Intelligence Core. These guys don't play around. They're a nasty bunch of spies. But Ronan was tired of his isolated existence with the I.C. and truly grateful for the chance at having a mate. But poor Kaed... when it rains, it pours for this battle-hardened commander. In one fell swoop, he simultaneously discovers his long-thought-to-be-dead friend is actually alive, AND he finally has a mate, and not just any mate but a 99% compatibility match! Oh my! Kaed had given up on ever being matched by the Interstellar Brides Program and resigned himself to being alone. Actually, he preferred it that way. His life was dangerous and full of responsibility. He was dedicated to his fleet and it was his job to ensure the safety of the thousands of warriors and families under his command. He had no time for a relationship or a mate. But the heart wants what the heart wants, despite trying to convince himself otherwise. Kaed was determined to send Erica away and never allow her to wear his mating collar. Yeah, good luck with that, Kaed. Remember when I said Erica was feisty and determined? Well, she had other ideas and to heck with the merciless Hive enemies. Erica was hellbent on having her happy ending, with both Kaed and Ronan. And when Erica makes up her mind, there's no changing it. It was a battle of wills, but we all know women are actually the stronger sex, right? When a woman sets her sights on something, nothing will stand in her way. Kaed and Ronan had no idea just what a fierce human female was capable of doing, especially in the name of love! Ronan capitulated fairly quickly, but Kaed was so much slower to acquiesce. I wanted to smack him upside his handsome head - several times! But it was so much fun watching the three of them dance around each other, all the while trying to save the ship, save the day, and outmaneuver the Hive. Sigh... So romantic!

So, did I like this book? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adults. If you enjoy fast-paced, well-written science fiction brimming with action, adventure, danger, drama, engaging storyarcs, nail-biting conflicts, endearing characters, sexy heroes, sassy heroines, steamy passion, erotic sex scenes, and heartwarming romance, then this entire series is screaming your name. Will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my seat, gasping for breath with a death grip on my ereader as the pages flew as quickly as the time! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Well done, Grace Goodwin! Well done, indeed. And FYI, we, your fans, are still waiting for Warden Egara's story and not so patiently, I might add! lol...

MAY THE GODS WITNESS AND PROTECT YOU

As with the other Interstellar Bride books by Ms. Grace Goodwin, they read great as a continuing saga, but each book will read well as a stand-alone. But, if you have been a loyal fan, you were cheering for Commander Karter being matched with a mate—even if now he was unsure if that should even take place. Throw in a surprise from his past and a strong, determined woman from Earth, and you have an amazing story.

In the middle of a disaster in another sector, loss of lives, loss of another Commander and friend and to come face to face with a lifelong friend that you believed to be dead is shocking. Not near as much as a surprise as to be told that you mate from Earth was being transported to this ship, in the middle of a war zone. Commanders Karter and Wothar had always agreed that they would share a mate the way Prillon males do. Now, after all this time, a match has been found and in transport to him—will he send her away? Will Ronan still expect to be his second?

“We will protect her. We are a danger to her. I want her. I vowed to be your second and I will not renege on that. It may have been five years since we’ve seen each other last, but my honor has not changed. Nor has yours.”

Erica arrives at transport and is met by two warriors. She knows the way of Prillons, and she is shocked to learn that both these warriors are Commanders, not just Prillon warriors.

“I am Commander Makaed Karter of Battlegroup Karter. I am your mate, your primary male.” He sighed, looked past me, behind my shoulder. “The Prillon warrior whose lap you are upon is your second, Commander Ronan Wothar.”

“A mate is cherished, loved, protected and possessed by her two mates. Because Prillons are mostly fighters, death is a strong possibility. Having a second means a mate will never be without a male. For love, for children, for their future.”

Let the battles begin! OMG, Karter is a hardened, war battled warrior, but so is Ronan. He has every reason why he can’t take a mate—why he shouldn’t take a mate—but then Erica doesn’t see his reasoning, she accepts what the testing proved, they are 99% matched. There is no doubt there is chemistry, and sexual desire for each other and these warriors will claim him sexually but not with a mating collar. She is hurt and a bit angry, and she refuses to back down, calling them on the floor for it.

“Makaed Karter was a silent storm, his emotions more powerful than I ever could have imagined. Pride in his people. Honor and humility at being trusted to lead them. Fear that he would let them down. Self-loathing for what he perceived as his own weakness, at his need for something to have for himself.”

All I can say is this story was just right—Erica is the right Earth female for Kaed and Ronan—and the three of them compliment each other in strength and desires. The story is full of mystery, suspense, danger, angst, passion, and packed with sizzling erotic scenes between the three mates.

“Life out here was wild and messy and full of surprises. Full of love. I had everything I ever dreamed of.”

The Interstellar Brides Are Back!

Holy hot Prillon Warriors … the throbbing hasn’t stopped (um… I meant to say, heart throbbing hasn’t stopped), since reading “The Commander’s Mate”, the latest installment in the “Interstellar Brides Series”! I read this episode in one sitting and never moved… OK, that’s a lie… I squirmed a little… OK, maybe I writhed a lot but trust me, Grace Goodwin really has a way with words! Professionally written, the narrative is incredibly fast-paced and flowed seamlessly from the first page to the very last. The characterizations are totally engaging including; two for the price of one, scorching hot Prillon Warriors (it’s just outstanding that they come in pairs!) and a human astronomer who wants to be the gooey middle in a Prillon Warrior sandwich (lucky girl!). Trust me, Kaed and Ronin dole out all the action Erica can handle (yeah, that kind of action!) on every horizontal as well as vertical surface available! As with prior installments, the world building is fantastic incorporating plenty of action (no, not that kind) suspense and all the raw, filthy alien … well you get the picture… “The Commander’s Mate” is another heat seeking ménage missile directly targeting the reader’s heart with plenty of sweet romance, alien action (of all kinds) and irrefutable love. “The Commander’s Mate” is told from the three main characters perspectives with appearances from prior characters and can also be read as a standalone novel.

So… If you’re looking to double your pleasure and double your fun, just one-click “The Commander’s Mate” right now… you know you want to! Remember… sharing is caring!

Let's start off by saying that this is one of my favorite paranormal/science fiction romance authors and each and every story we just love.

I really loved this story from beginning to end.We loved that the story had a strong female character that would be able to stand up two domineering males both captain of their own fleets.

Erica we loved her from the onset of the story she was strong and opinionated and not a little women to be put in her place or in a corner and she was also a introvert according to herself but, took to her new position like a "duck to water".

It is always a dream for warriors like themselves to find a mate but, once they have her they both feel that the do not deserve her.The trio's love story was a rocky one for sure but, through love, patience and endurance and understanding and love this trio will hopefully beat the odds and achieve the love and happiness they all deserve.

We loved that we were able to see a vulnerable side to these hardened warriors even if it was only for Erica's benefit it made them more human and more love-able. We loved the chemistry and the heat they created as the really were perfect for each other and Ronan balanced them all as he seemed to be a little softer than commander Karter and the perfect mix of both worlds for Erica.

We are really loving this Interstellar Bride series and we are so looking forward to the next in the series. For us the author has done it again as we loved it as this story was filled with a great cast of character's for us to love as well as a few surprises.

Ok, here is the deal, I need the writing to immerse me in the story so I believe it could be real. No matter how preposterous, ridiculous or insane the concept is.
Unfortunately this wasn’t the case here at all. The way things happen wasnt believable and there was no explanation to change that, the worst thing here is that being a sci-fi erotica there were so many changes to explain, and so many ways to fix it, yet we get f#€% all. Also, the spice was lukewarm at best.
But the narration was really good and it's free on audible.

2.5 - 3 stars!

Commander Karter is a Prillon warrior and gets matched with Erica at the worst time because she gets dropped into his arms right after a battle and more battles may be in the future. I liked this and it was smutty but I found myself annoyed at Karter for not groveling more when he made a mistake and Erica for forgiving so quickly. I wanted a little more angst. Overall, a decent smutty Sci-fi read.

Aliens are as good an excuse for an erotic threesome as any. The story isn’t particularly sophisticated but it’s entertaining and not too cringe-worthy - if you’re into that sort of thing. I’ve read others from this author and can say most of her other novels are very similar, maybe some are better plot-wise.

Us die hard Grace fans have waited so long for this book. Karter has been woven in so many other past books. I felt like I “knew him”. He was nothing like I thought he would be. Karter to me was always so in control and sure of himself. I remember in past books when he had been softened by little Dara. He was honorary Uncle/babysitter. How he doted on her had me thinking he’d be more of a romantic but he wasn’t as soft and warm as I expected. You got to know what was really going on in his mind, how he felt, his worries and even his flaws & insecurities. Ronan was an amazing second!! To me he was more self assured and knew exactly what he wanted, then went for it. They balance each other out well for Erica. I really liked her character as well. She also knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to be pushed away and sat on a shelf like a China Doll. She was spirited, yet not someone who had to prove themselves and be this hard ass temperamental woman/mate that some of the past female characters have been. Through out the book you see how she gives strength to Karter and soothes his inner termoil. He cares so deeply for his people it tears him up inside when he looses another and another in the long never ending Hive War. Little by little every death takes a piece of his soul and hardens him more and more. I loved knowing on the outside he was cool, calm and collected in his leadership, but inside he was chaos. That was the part in past books that we weren’t given insight to. I liked it. To not give away a spoiler I’ll be vaugue, if you read the book you’ll know my reference here. The collars had me upset at the beginning but then I understood why and it really was the catalyst to bring it all together. Another great addition to my favorite all time book series by my favorite author. Keep them coming Grace.

*Swoons* Commander Makaed Karter 💘

Finally his very own IBP book! Been a Commander Karter stan since Mated to the Beast and now we get to know more about him, his angst, the pressure of being responsible for thousands of lives in his battlegroup, and the worlds beyond it. This book really did a great job in showing how intense and complicated and lonely inner battles are. Everything Commander Karter was perfect. I loved how he'd spent past books making fun of Atlans excessive pda's and possessiveness but with Erica, he felt just like they did. Ronan was all right as a second but I feel the angst, the hurt and still ongoing grief Kaed was feeling should have been more explored and discussed between the two. I liked Erica but I don't wanna hate and this is totally on me but I was hoping Commander Karter's mate would be more kickass, you know. Like I felt she (and I'm sorry testing protocol!) didn't really match Kaed's intensity and mood. I understand why the author went the way she did with this book, showing us both the mental and emotional and physical strain of the centuries long Hive war. But it had some slow moments that detracted from the story and honestly Commander Karter being that insecure of his mate and doubting her strengths was kinda uncharacteristic because he is the FIRST to exalt these women's amazing traits. It didn't make me feel things. I liked it so much but not enough for 5 stars I just can't explain it. It hurts I can't bring myself to give out more bc it's COMMANDER KARTER but there was something missing.

I think it's that Erica didn't have more of an active role with her profession throughout the book. Like yeah, she saw the Hive ship and all but it was a circumstantial thing not active like other brides that have had stakes in the drama. I had gotten so used to that in the other books I was kinda disappointed it was too subtle here. Yeah, she noticing the Hive weapon thing was huge, but not on the same level as Commander Chloe Phan. But I didn't hate this book. There were a lot of precious moments of Commander Karter being adorable. The ending, with him wanting to learn about astronomy so much, just burst my heart.

After reading the “Ascension Saga” which was dragged out into 9 books, I was a bit leery about this book and was hoping that the author did not do that with this story. Thankfully there was a return to what I had experienced in the past of one book for the whole story, with some characters popping up from previous books.

I started reading this author because she writes strong female characters. Yes how they get to be off the planet is a bit of a stretch but her women are not treated as slaves or breeding machines. They are valued and treated fairly and attentively by two males.

Erica had volunteered to be an Interstellar Bride and she was matched with two commanders Kaed and Ronan. Their first meeting wasn’t all it was cracked up to be as the commanders were in the middle of dealing with soldiers injured in an on going battle. Three strong willed people coming together are guaranteed to have sparks flying both in and out of the bedroom.

This is an insta-lust, love HEA story as the story takes place all within an action packed two days. Erica breaks some rules right away and others she just smashes as they don’t agree with what she envisioned her life with her new husbands to be. I like the fact that the author gives all of their POV’s for me that always makes me connect more with the characters.

Unlike the “Ascension Saga” where it was heavy into the bedroom activities and light on the story in this one there was a nice balance and you got to empathize with the plight of the other warriors and get to know the characters all in one book. While it’s not Shakespeare it’s a nice steamy action packed read.

The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides in the Florida.

Written in first person, The Commander’s Mate is book 15 in this series and follows the human bride Erica Roberts and her primary mate Commander Makaed Karter and his second Commander Ronan Worthar from the planet Prillion. Finally! A mate for Commander Karter! 🥳 Erica was a human, in love with astronomy, and was an eager bride who volunteered because she was desperate for love and affection. Karter was a hopeful romantic who tested for the program, but gave up hope because too much time had passed before she was found. In the middle of war, he assumed that his second was dead, only to find him alive and working for the IC on the same day his bride showed up. Coincidence? 🤔 His newly alive second was more than eager to resume his position with Erica, but Karter was holding back the collars for fear of sharing the darkness inside his head. She eventually convinced him, in the middle of an active battle, to give her the collar. It was her astronomy skills that spotted the hive weapon and Ronan’s quick thinking that saved the day. Both warriors pulled from Erica’s mental strength through the connection of the collars. After the battle was won, the three presumably lived happily ever after.

I was disappointed in many aspects of this book. Coming to respect Karter’s power and authority throughout the series, I was heavily disappointed with his inaction and refusals. He pushed Erica away to the point I wanted to just scream at him. Had Erica not been so stubborn and determined, she could have easily found a better match. One who respected and valued a matched mate. Grace missed an opportunity here for Ronan to feel the full effect his loss had on Karter. The book felt too rushed. This book did clue us in to a particular fact regarding the claiming ceremony. I was always under the assumption that the collars didn’t change color unless sex was involved. Karter proved that incorrect. Their claiming was broadcasted ship wide, directly after giving her the collar. The words were said, clothes still on, and her collar changed to his color. The threesome didn’t come until much later.

Prillions are humanoid. They’re larger and stronger than humans but smaller and weaker than Atlans. Their mating collars allow for the wearers to experience each other’s emotions. They are also an alien species that mate in pairs, assigning a second so in the event one dies, their mate and offspring will never be alone and uncared for. Should an alien mate die, the surviving mate would select a new second to fill their shoes.

Spankings take place in every single book. If any man spanked me, I would probably kill them in their sleep, but I guess some women do enjoy them. Spankings are more of a turn-off than turn-on in my case, so I just ignore those parts of the books like “nope, that didn’t just happen.”

As I’ve read through this series and all its spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance. Grace Goodwin has ruined me for all other romance novels. After reading her material, I find the others to be tame, dull and overall anticlimactic. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read each of her books at least twice. This book was no exception, I heavily recommend it.

Prillon warriors Commander Karter and his second in command, Vice Commander Bard, surveyed the damage for themselves in the wreck of a battleship. Commander Varsten, a clever and seasoned warrior, was missing and half of his battle fleet had been destroyed! Almost the entire battlegroup – consisting of a battleship and ten to twelve smaller support ships -- had been wiped out in a matter of hours! This one ship alone had housed 2,000 warriors, their mates and children. It almost seemed that Varsten knew the attack was coming and ordered many of his people and half of the fleet away from the danger right before the Hive devastated them. There had to have been a reason for him to sacrifice this elite class battleship in a trap like this! They hadn’t even received the distress call from those sent to safety until 7 hours after the battle had ended! It was unlikely PrIme Nial would let Karter leave the area until a new commander was assigned, and that would take time. The rest of the battlegroup hiding behind the star system were refusing to leave, saying Commander Varsten gave them strict orders to stay there, although he didn’t reveal why. Then a grim-looking Bard informed him that they had found Varsten’s body alone in an attack shuttle. There would be no answers from him now. None of this made sense to him!

Karter and Bard went to question another survivor from the Intelligence Core and Karter was shocked to see it was his oldest friend, Roan, reported killed 4 years previously. They had been like brothers, such close friends that Roan had pledged to be his second if Karter had ever been matched to a mate. He was stunned now with the news that the Hive had apparently been working on a long-range weapon – and this was not the first battlegroup that been destroyed by it! Karter was livid that the information had not been shared with the commanders in the Coalition Fleet responsible for protecting 200 planets and billions of lives. They were facing not mere death but annihilation or worse, assimilation.

Erica Roberts was going through her testing at the Interstellar Brides Processing Center on Earth. The two mates in her dream professed their vows to her as their mating collars linked them with a psychic connection to each other’s feelings. She had been matched!

As Commander Karter heard the horrifying news of the Hive’s new weapon, his battleship contacted him to prepare for an incoming transport, despite his ordering no incoming transports due to danger and low power. But his location had been pinged and the Intersteller Brides Program initiated transport to Battleship Varsten automatically. Karter’s bride was mid-transport and could not be rerouted!

This is the worst possible timing to find a mate! There is a definite possibility that Battleship Karter will be the next target of the Hive’s new weapon! His woman has to be moved to a safe location! He may not survive the upcoming battle and would not want his mate to lose her life. Will he be able to get her to safety with the Hive threat so immediate? Or will her presence be a dangerous distraction while they prepare for the most important battle of his life?

This author absolutely amazes me with the quality of her books. As always, her writing flows effortlessly and takes the reader into an adventure like no other! The story line is excellent, providing a touch of mystery, tension, and constant suspense as the plot unfolds. The characters are always developed well, the men strong, honorable, brave warriors. The reader will connect with these warriors and the mate who makes them complete with her own strength and intelligence. Don’t miss this extraordinary book! Aside from the battle that is threatening, there is a love story you will adore! Be part of the experience and enjoy every moment! You will be in very good hands!

This story starts in the after effects of a huge attack by the Hive. It has a different feel to some of the other books in this series, more serious and heartfelt yet just as hot. There is a lot that happens in such a short space of time but I was so lost in the story that I didn’t notice how little time had actually passed in this world. The pacing is beautiful though and it doesn’t feel rushed at all.

Erica is a strong, feisty woman who is wholeheartedly committed to this mating. She knows what she wants and she knows they can give it to her. Her confidence and candour is refreshing and she’s a perfect match for these two battle-hardened warriors. Kaed is delish but so stubborn and believes he’s unworthy of a relationship like theirs. I was so frustrated with him at one point and so glad when he pulled his head out of his butt (shout out to another kick arse female character, Chloe). Ronan is perfect as his Second, providing a push when needed and challenging Kaed to be better while still supporting him. A very strong character in his own right, he doesn’t fade into the background though his storyline is less angsty than Kaed’s. The triad they form is beautifully balanced, particularly for such strong personalities.

Overall, I really loved this book. I’ve read a few other books of the Interstellar Brides Program series and this one made me want to go back and read all of them in order as it mentions other mated pairs and trios that I just have to know their stories now too. I also love the triple view point as there is a lot of introspection that gives you a good feel for the characters mindset and personality. Grace’s writing makes me want to linger, to soak up all the deliciousness. At one point Erica, the female lead, thinks “This was not a fantasy with a happily-ever-after. This was blood and war” but actually this book is both. Brilliant addition to the IBP world and I would highly recommend it.

WOW! What a phenomenal Sci-fi ROMANCE!!
“THE COMMANDER’S MATE”, Grace Goodwin’s newest novel and addition to her Interstellar Brides Series is absolutely phenomenal! I am always floored by Goodwin’s writing because no two of the “Brides” novels are the same. There are a couple of similarities. All of the books are enticing and compellingly complex with plot similarities in only a few ways. The end with a happily ever after, and the chemistry is – well . . . out of this world! OK, the themes include, “Love is a choice,” but the backgrounds and reasoning behind that choice are as varied as the characters and storylines in Grace Goodwin’s fabulous Sci-fi novels. The characters have some similar traits as Goodwin’s heroines are women of strong character, are also smart, and know what they want. For example, the heroine in “THE COMMANDER’S MATE”, Erica, has a doctorate in astronomy and decides to join the Interstellar Bride Program so she can live amongst the stars she loves. The heroes, Kaed and Ronin, are both commanders and as alpha as can be! However, these Prillon commanders are busy trying to save the survivors of a destroyed battleship and develop plans to take down the new, seeming indecipherable new Hive weapon before it destroys the battleship Karter which Kaed, Erica’s prime mate, Commands. (If a reader is interested in why these alpha men pair before they mate, they will have to pick up a copy of “THE COMMANDER’S MATE” and read it!) While the conflict is paved with good intentions, will they be able to commit to a strong mated family before the chaos and the Hive destroy any chance of it? I voluntarily read an advanced copy of “THE COMMANDER’S MATE”, and this is my voluntary, honest 5+STAR review. If you have not read any of Grace Goodwin’s Sci-fi romances or any of the Interstellar Brides Series, then I STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of “THE COMMANDER’S MATE” today. Happy pages! 😉

After seeing Commander Karter in several books and watching him interact with Dara (Chloe, Seth, and Dorian's daughter), we have begged Grace for him to get a mate and she answered us with this great story.

(To understand my review, I just want to put it out there, I read for story and could care less about the sexy times)

This story drops us right into the middle of the Hive war, as mentioned in the previous books, the Battlegroup Karter is actively holding back the Hive in sector 437. Karter was tested years and years ago and has been too busy to have any thoughts of a bride. Ronan is also a Commander and is just as intense as Karter due to the heavy weight of responsibility demanded by their positions. Erica has always loved the stars and jumped at her chance to be among them, especially after her testing as part of a Prillon sandwich (her words, not mine).

This story is told from all three POV and we get to see just how tortured Karter is and how much weight is on his very broad shoulders. I really loved Karter and Ronan and even though Erica is just a feisty as the other Interstellar Brides, I guess I just wasn't as impressed with her as I was with the other brides - she does love both of them and fights for a true mating but that's about it. BUT, Karter and Ronan make up for any deficiencies I felt Erica had. The new development in the war is a major game changer and the Coalition is going to have their hands full dealing with it.

I love this series and while I have received advanced copies of these books (yes, I joined Grace's review team to get my hands on these books as soon as possible), I have purchased every single one. Purchasing these books and writing reviews so that others have a chance to discover this talented author's work is my way of supporting her and my habit :)

Wow!! The “Commanders’ Mate” is the latest addition to the Interstellar Brides series and it is unparalleled, visionary and so much more!!! All the stories are stand alone, they share a common Sci-Fi thread but they are all amazingly different and entice the reader from page one!! Grace Goodwin skillfully weaves characters from previous stories throughout all the stories and we care and worry about all of them. I would recommend reading them in order.
She writes with a depth and nuance that is remarkable. Her characters undergo changes, are very dynamic with unique personalities.
Erica, has a doctorate in astronomy, is exasperated with dating on Earth and decides to join the Interstellar Bride Program so she can live amongst the stars she loves. Our heroes, Kaed and Ronin are both commanders and Alpha, sexy men! Kaed had tested for the Brides program years ago and felt he could never be matched because he was a warrior and devoted to saving the worlds from The Hive. But, the program didn’t forget about him - he was in the data base - lol. So, along comes Erica, who is looking forward to meeting and being joyfully greeted by her mates. Oops, her Prillon commanders are busy saving survivors of a destroyed Battleship and trying to develop plans to take down this new and very dangerous indecipherable new weapon from The Hive before it destroys the Battleship Karter which Kaed commands. Her intended mates: Kaed and Ronin have an instant connection with Erica but are concerned for her safety and refuse to explore a relationship. Erica doesn’t agree and helps with the wounded. What happens, now?? Grace Goodwin keeps us guessing on every page. The story is filled with suspense, mystery, HOT romance, fast paced and fill with action! Thank you Grace Goodwin for another exciting read!

The Commander’s Mate (Interstellar Brides Book 15) - Grace Goodwin

As with the Grace’s other books in this Interstellar Brides series there are quite a few 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥scenes written in her own special style. In addition there is also a really awesome story that makes this a great addition to the series.
Commander Karter(hot Prillion ), is head of the Karter Battlegroup) has been an intriguing secondary character in previous books. Karter is a workaholic alpha leader who tested for an Interstellar Bride years ago but was never matched. At this point he doesn’t even know how he’d fit a mate into his busy schedule.
Ronan, a best friend he believed died five years ago, works with the I.C. (their CIA), and has just resurfaced to everyone’s surprise. Ronan was always to be his 2nd when it came to claiming a mate. Perhaps that what has taken so love you g for the match to occur.
Erica volunteers for the Bride Program. She has a doctorate in Astronomy but feels it’s about time she physically gets to the stars. Totally committed Erica is shocked to find herself arriving on a battleship just after it had been attacked. Still she falls immediately for the two Prillion warriors, and there’s instant mutual attraction. Unfortunately Karter is determined to get Erica off the ship and to safety. Totally committed to her role as mate to the Commander and his second, she is having none of this.
The story is very exciting, fast paced and suspenseful. The overall background of the coalition’s fight with the Hive is escalating. They must not only find the new secret weapon The Hive launched against them, but also get all the mates, children and other personnel to safety.
Loved this latest addition to the series, having main characters a bit bit more experienced , the amazing hot sexy scenes, romance and sealing with the Hive’s latest threat.

The Commander’s Mate is the fifteenth book in the Interstellar Brides series, but can be read as a stand alone. Commander Karter is dedicated to his job, determined to keep his people safe and only thinking of how to destroy the Hive. Within hours, he sees an old friend and then realizes that he has a bride transferring right into the middle of the war zone. With the Hive danger closer than ever, will Karter accept his mate, his second, their bonding, and keep everyone safe?

If you’ve been reading this series for a while now, like me, you’ve been dying for Commander Karter’s romance, and boy, while I was a little surprised at the direction this book went, I was not disappointed! Karter, Ronan, and Erica were amazing, full of passion, trying to find middle ground, and I loved how they all came together in the end for support, light, and love! At first, I wasn’t sure what to think about Erica. She seemed a little brash and in your face and I wasn’t sure how that would work with Karter, but I loved how well she fit. She was able to push her mates in ways they never expected, gave them strength and support when needed, and I loved her giving nature. Karter and Ronan used to be practically brothers, so I loved their interactions coming back together, and I loved how they both wished they could have been more for Erica. The threat with the Hive was pretty intense, but I loved how all three played into the ending! This series has been one of my all time favorites and I really enjoyed reading this book!

Wow, send me to space.
I nearly didn't download this book as after reading the blurb I wasn't sure it was really going to be my cup of tea having never really read inter galaxy type books before, but I'm so glad i did because I really enjoyed it.
Erica is sent to be a bride to the pallion commander and lands smack in the middle of a war zone.
Her 2 mates want to protect her and send her away and although they are strong commanders they didn't really bargain for the stubborn fiesty bride that landed.
Kaed being a commander has seen and gone through alot but doesn't show emotions well.
Ronan all though the gentle more loving of the pair has also seen his fair share of darkness and neither of them want their mate to have to feel all those bad emotions they both deal with on a daily basis as they don't believe she is strong enough.
Erica dives straight in to help and when Kaed and Ronan send her away she defies them proving she is strong enough to handle them and all that is being thrown at her to stand by their side in it all and become the strength they both need.
The chemistry between these 3 is hot the emotions run deep and the fight of intergalctic war adds a different dimension to what i would normally read.
I'll be reading more of this series.

Wow what a amazing book this one was, I’m so happy commander Karter and his second finally got there mate and how strong she is right off the bat. Erica Roberts has waited long enough to finally get her chance to be a bride and see the stars, but when she is transported into a battle zone from the testing chair to her mates it’s not how she thought it would be or was told how it would work, her warriors would take her together and make love her and collar her but the reality is so different they both don’t need a mate right now with the Hive killing people on battleships in midair. Even if all of her curves makes them hot and horny now is not the time but Erica has other plans for her mates and is not letting go without a fight this is her future she is fighting for and they are hers. Makaed and Ronan have meet there match in her but don’t know how to move forward because of the lives they live it’s just to dangerous. How does it all work out for this trio can they stop being commanders and be what she needs and wants or does it end badly, get this book to find out more you will never be disappointed.

Reading this story was like reading a fairy tale when I was a kid, the story of the pot that never went empty and poured porridege endlessly - that was what I wished for while reading this one - that it would never end.... But of course there had to be an ending to the story, it just came much too soon... The story was fantastic, and how the author manages this creativity within outer space is just remarkable. The story line was exciting and sweet and just great, the characters, whom we have met some of before in earlier stories, they were just fantastic. I believe the word fantastic is one I probably overuse here but the story is just that - fantastic, and then some more fantastic - and again and agian... Five stars for this one, if there were more of them this story would definately be getting all ten of them... or however many they were. However, as this can only be my opinion about the story, I never give out spoilers, for that kind of info you just read the BLURB... Here - you get my feelings for the story and well, I looooooved it, and again and some more...

Call me crazy but I knew months ago the exact month this book was coming out, so I actually called in a sick day (an entire whole day) just to closely read and enjoy this book. Commander Karter has been in and out of several other story lines and he just struck me as someone that deserved a special girl in his life. Imagine my excitement when I received a ping that it was LIVE! I didn't know how Grace was going to bring his story to the secret lives of all of us who read her books, but I simply adored how he came through. I knew he had to be strong, he was probably a little bit older than Zane and Grigg from past references, yet just as sexy as hell and worthy of love. I remember a reader has commented she always felt that actual life was an itsy bit unfair after reading one of Grace's books. I am so totally in love with my husband and son, but I too, feel that after any of the Interstellar Brides books, life IS an itty bitty bit unfair. Luckily Grace will continue, I hope, to feed the secret lives of those who star gaze and day dream regularly.

CMD Makaed Karter first shock was to find his friend and brother in arms still alive. CMD Ronan Wothar was alive and working for the IC. They did not ever expect to find their bride. But when they were told that their bride is on route they both were surprised. It is going to be a rough road for these two. Erica has had it with earth. Her fiancée cheated on her and she doesn’t see reason to stay anymore. She is surprised that she is matched 99% to Prillon Prime males.

I was so mad at Kaed. As soon as he saw Erica all he thought about was he couldn’t have her. He made her feel rejected. I wanted to slap him. I do like that Erica stood up to him but he was like ice for a while. Ronan wanted Erica but he too at times acted like she was a delicate flower. There are other human women on the ship and they can fend for themselves. What makes them think Erica was any different? She is one tough cookie and her knowledge of the stars is the key. I am hoping we get to read about Warlord Wulf.
