The Explode the Code 1 series by Nancy Hall is the very best phonics series I have ever run across. It teaches each of the letter sounds and then builds on them one by one with simple, funny and creative activities.

I have used these books for my own children when we were homeschooling as well as in classroom setting. Many of the pages are self correcting making them ideal for Center Time Activities or for inclusion in Literacy Bags.

Another homeschool book. {wink} My K'er is reading! He took off reading the first day we did "formal school". It is amazing! The Explode the Code books have been an excellent tool for him in understanding how letter make words. It has been a joy to give him the gift of reading - the key that unlocks the world.

First book of a very well put together phonics program. Simple to use and fun for the children who learn as they go.
Black and white pages to not distract, and some children like to color them.
