Emma Mae Jenkins, a young Christian writer, has inspired many with the freedom she has to be herself a dearly loved child of God. In her first book, Be Loved , she invites readers to join her on a journey of life-changing faith and the freedom that comes from knowing the love of God. She chronicles her own high school journey through starting a new school, navigating the typical pressures of school work and sports, going to prom, and even homecoming. Emma Mae faced each new challenge with the confidence that God was with her and was going to make her uniquely useful in the place he had prepared for her. For Emma Mae, it all starts with her relationship with Jesus Christ. Because she knows she is loved by him, she is free to be herself and to live out her faith no matter what the cost. As a young, passionate, and intimate lover of Jesus, Emma Mae's love for her holy Savior overflows unashamedly into her unconditional, fierce love for people. Readers will experience the chain-breaking liberty of knowing the Lord's presence and the freedom to be unique. This full-color, hardback book includes pictures from Emma Mae's life, along with key Bible verses that God used to strengthen and guide her through the ups and downs of her high school years as a young Christian. Readers will learn to face the challenges of their student years with religion, courage, hope, and lifegiving love for others.
This book is definitely an encouragement. It is full of life giving Scripture and inspiration that calls young girls to step into their God-given identity and purpose.
I only gave it 3 stars because the book is designed more to encourage and remind rather than teach. It didn’t really teach me anything. For girls in middle school however, it is the perfect reminder of being yourself in a world that constantly wants to tell you who you should be. I would recommend this book primarily for girls in middle school.
P.S. the pictures in the book are precious though.
OK this book is definitely one of the best books I have ever read in my life. Emma Mae Jenkins is so sweet and honest and when you read this book, it just spills on over your life. The book is so beautiful, not only in words, but in design. It’s so bright and colorful, just like Emma Mae seems to be. Whether you are just learning about God’s Word, or you have been a Christian your whole life, you NEED to read this book.
Emma is so encouraging and my oh my! this book was nothing short of that. It has to be one of my favorite Christian books I’ve ever read. It’s an easy read full of cute pictures and drawings, but the words have so much depth and truth to them. My favorite thing about the book is the last two pages of ever chapter have a prayer and verses to memorize. She is so full of life, love, and the Holy Spirit and her joy is splattered all over every page. Definitely recommend this book. Specifically to girls in middle school, high school and college.
I LOVE this book!! "Be Loved" by Emma Mae Jenkins is a beautiful hardback book written in a format made to look like a scrapbook or journal. There are little snippets of encouragement from Emma with lots of doodles, photos, Scripture and prayers. Emma Mae is such a joyful person; one can’t help but feel encouraged and inspired after reading the book. You can just feel her love for the Lord. Emma Mae and her book are vibrant, relatable, genuine, encouraging and vulnerable. Her story will especially resonate with those who have grown up in a Christian setting and those who have struggled with perfectionism, but I believe it will still be an encouragement for girls from all walks of life. I think girls in Middle School and High School will discover and embrace their uniqueness and be challenged to live out their faith with boldness. I myself am no longer a teenager, but I LOVED this book and found it to be still applicable to my life. I’m excited to give this book out as a gift and to check out more of Emma Mae’s content.
Content: This is a clean read.
Rating: I give this book 5 stars.
I want to thank Emma Mae Jenkins, New Growth Press and Read with Audra for the complimentary copy of this book for review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I express in this review are my own. This is in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s CFR 16, Part 255.
I knew going into reading this book that it was for a younger audience; however, I wanted to read it anyway because it was on my bookshelf and i’m making my way through all the books I have haha. I wish I had this book when I was in middle school or high school! Lots of scripture and truth :) I’ll have to think of someone younger to pass it to!
Emma Mae Jenkins is a name that was brought to my attention by Sadie Robertson. I love listening to Sadie Robertson speak so I take her recommendations highly. I was given an opportunity to read an ARC (Advanced Readers Copy) of Emma’s first book “Be Loved”. This book is about finding your identity in Christ, something that I have to work on every single day. She begins this story by talking about how she viewed herself: “I tried to be gracious and kind and loving toward everyone I met, but I wasn’t gracious or kind or loving toward myself.” Immediately I was drawn in because this was my issue. I am a perfectionist and Emma put into words what it means and feels like to be a perfectionist. Note: The book is so colorful with pictures and doodles. I feel like I am reading her journal, and I’m sure that, in a way, I am. She puts all of this so simple, and I have to say that I am jealous. Because even though I know that I don’t have to earn God’s love in my mind and my heart there are some days that I just don’t understand or comprehend that love. And to me that makes it hard to accept. Grace is beautiful. But for me, it can be really hard to come to terms with that and have faith without or beyond understanding. It is so refreshing to see someone talk about the basics of being in a relationship with Christ. So often everything is taught about what a “Good Christian” does and more often than not it comes out looking like a checklist. Go to church. Volunteer. Youth group. Tithe. So on and so forth. I learned the Bible stories, the facts, the history, the cultures, but you don’t build relationships with facts. You build relationships with people. Emma does an amazing job outlining what a relationship with Christ looks like while understanding that every relationship is unique because people are unique. Not every walk with Christ will look like hers. I know mine doesn’t. But it doesn’t make it any less important or precious. The layout and the wording of this book are definitely for middle and high school students, but the message is great for all ages. Even though every chapter in this has a sample prayer for you to pray and a list of scripture to hold close to your heart, it isn’t a Bible study rather than an encouragement to study the Bible. I can, however, see a bible study book coming from Emma. Emma’s story isn’t unfamiliar to many kids who have grown up in a Christian family, and so I think those will be the readers who will be drawn to this book. Overall, I will give this book 3 ½ out of 5 stars. This book is great, but simple, and has a good message. But I think that the readers who will pick this up are in a niche of the Christian book genre, which I why I didn’t give it a 4 out of 5.
To love like Jesus is to be free from fear. When we walk as a forgiven and free child of God, people will see our courage and take note that we have been with Jesus. People will not take note that we have been with Jesus because of how much education we have or the amount of accomplishments we have - but simply by how we walk in love. They will see that we have the courage to love out of the overflow of how loved we are by Him and how much we love him.
Be Loved is a simple message of how much God Loves us but also how we have the freedom to love without fear. Sounds simple enough and I think it is but we make it difficult. The difficulty stems from our own efforts to love and our fear of failure. Emma Mae Jenkins take you into her world of High School and you relive the peer pressure to be someone else. It is only when we turn the focus on Christ, his word, that we can begin to listen to him as he directs us to love others without fear. I loved how Emma is not self-seeking in her love for others. She simply gives words of encouragement from scripture and lets the word of God soak into the hearts of those that need it.
Each chapter ends with scripture and prayer. Prayer that directs your heart from your own need for affirmation to affirming others. It takes baby steps to walk in faith facing your fear of rejection but know this, God has accepted you and because he has, we do not have to walk in that fear. What we lack in others, we have in Christ. If we lack confidence, we have confidence in Christ. If we lack righteousness, we have righteousness in Christ. We may have the head knowledge but we must live by faith in what God says is true. Don't compare your walk with others or the popularity of others but what is God calling you to. Who is he calling you to love. Believe
You will be encouraged of these truths but also be given the tools to walk in faith and not in fear! Highly recommend.
A Special Thank you to New Growth Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Emma Mae Jenkins shares about her spiritual journey through middle school and high school in an engaging and friendly manner. Her vibrant personality, commitment to the Lord, and deep love for people come through in each word, loud and clear. If I had gone to school with her, I am sure we would have been friends!
Each chapter begins with an episode from Emma Mae's life and a truth that she learned. Many scriptures are shared to back up what she says and also for memorization and meditating on. She covers subjects such as seeking God first, perfectionism, and living a holy life amid temptation.
The truths shared are relevant, scripturally sound, and presented to not make Emma Mae sound wonderful because of what she knows but to glorify God and to encourage and exhort the reader to walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord.
I loved the pictures in the book, the word art, and the overall layout. It would make a fantastic gift for a young woman who seeks to walk more closely with the Lord.
I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
For years, I've heard about Emma Mae Jenkins and occasionally watched her YouTube videos. I used to think her joyful, bubbly, presence was an act and would feel uncomfortable with how forward and loving she seemed. It wasn't until I read her book, however, that I finally understood the beautiful woman of God she is!
Be Loved is an incredibly well-done book. With lots of colors and pictures, it felt like I was reading Emma's diary. Her heart for the Father poured onto each page, and I thoroughly enjoyed the scriptures and the prayer section at the end of each chapter.
After reading this book, I feel full of inspiration and encouragement. When they asked why I was so confident, I used to tell people that I was faking it until I made it; when the truth is, walking with the Lord and believing in the purpose He has put on my life is the best way to gain confidence (Proverbs 3:26). I, like Emma, moved around a lot as a kid, and I learned rather quickly to stop allowing what people thought of me dictate how I act. Standing out is not a bad thing; in fact, it attracts people towards you, giving you an incredible opportunity to talk about God and his son, Yeshua!
"A relationship with Jesus always brings us out of our comfort zone. We can't really get to know Jesus unless we are willing to leave where we are and follow him. As we follow him, we can taste and see his love and freedom in ways we never could have imagined. A relationship with him is not of this world, so it's not going to fit the mold of what culture says is normal." ~ Emma Mae Jenkins (Be Loved)
This book is perfect for teens who are navigating their way through high school, and for all the girls who don't already know how much their Father in heaven loves them! Be Loved is a book I'm going to be recommended to many people, and I know that Emma's words are going to touch a lot of people's lives! Thank you, Emma, for writing this inspiring book! You have reignited my fire, and I'm so pumped to see what the Lord is going to do in both of our lives next!
~ A special thanks to NetGalley, and the publisher, for providing me with the digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. ~
This book spoke to every single struggle I face and provided Biblical wisdom. In addition to having super cute and fun drawings, pictures, handwriting styles, and colours, it is saturated with Scripture. Emma Mae is an incredible role model in my walk with Christ, as she passionately loves God and loves people. As I was reading this book, I kept thinking, “I’m definitely going to be reading this over and over again, because I need these reminders, and I definitely plan to have my kids read this someday, because I want it to shape who they turn out to be.” That recurring thought is a perfect example of why everyone should read this book.
This book is colorful, bright, and encouraging just like the author. As a Liberty grad and seminary student, I remember seeing Emma on campus during her freshman year. I wasn’t familiar with her until she came to Liberty and began to watch her from afar. Her positivity and enthusiasm for life and contagious and genuine. Even though I’m a few years older than her, I found her presence contagious even though I just watched her interactions with others from afar. While I’m not the target audience for this book, it is a great, easy to read resource to encourage teenagers. It’s biblically sound with practical examples for teen life. I feel like it would do a little better with middle schoolers than high schoolers because there wasn’t a lot of depth when dealing with hard issues, but it does address a lot of middle and high school related issues. She provided lots of practical examples of how to show God’s love to people in daily life. I wish there had been one more chapter at the beginning like the first chapter that details how she came to be so joyous. As an older sister in Christ, I wanted to see a little more of her process of becoming so joyous and how God’s love influences her when times are hard. But regardless, it’s a great read for teenagers wanting to grow in their faith!
I received an advanced copy to review thanks to Net Galley.
Emma is such an inspiration in her Youtube videos and this book was no different. I'll admit, I had never heard of her before seeing this book online but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Emma's passion for spreading the news of Jesus Christ was obvious. I felt such joy when reading and that's not something easy to come by. The full-color illustrations and photos in this book are beautiful and always backed up the message well. I'd recommend this to any teen girl looking to deepen her relationship with Christ.

Be Loved is the debut title from YouTuber Emma Mae Jenkins. Emma is a young lady who has obtained a growing audience on Instagram and YouTube due to her faithfulness to proclaim the truth about who Jesus is. One aspect you'll instantly notice about Emma upon viewing her social media profiles and upon reading her book is that she emanates joy. The joy she has because of Jesus was something that radiates through each page of her book. In Be Loved, Emma shares with readers about how her faith became her own and how she made the most of her high school by being a light for Christ. Emma Mae shares about things that young students can relate to including the pressure to perform well in school and wanting to fit in. She encourages young people who have trusted in Christ to make much of His name by loving others and being a light. One way practical way that Emma Mae chose to care for the students at her high school was by ensuring that each one received a Christmas card. I found this act inspiring because it was a simple yet meaningful way to love others. Emma Mae did share that she believes God told her to do this. I'm typically cautious when I hear people claim that God told them to do something because it is clear in Scripture that God doesn't speak to us outside of His word. However, I do see many times in Scripture where believers are called to love and care for others and since Emma Mae's desire and actions align with God's heart, I don't take issue with her use of "God told me." One aspect of Be Loved that I really enjoyed is the layout of the book. Unlike traditional chapter books which contain text on paper, Be Loved contains photos and eye catching illustrations. Be Loved is a book and also a visual feast for the eyes which made it even more delightful to read. I feel that in designing the book this way, the publisher really captured Emma Mae's young and joyful spirit. I also enjoyed how the chapters concluded with a prayer and many verses to dwell on. The prayers fondly reminded me of the prayer journals I kept in high school and college. I received Be Loved compliments of New Growth Press in exchange for my honest review.

"Be Loved" is a powerful debut book by Emma Mae Jenkins!
She's really made a good impression on this reader with her open heart, transparency and the JOY that shines through her words on every page of this book.
Emma is more than just a young person with a talent to write; she is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ who has a BIG HEART for people, especially the youth!
After reading this book, I can totally see Emma becoming a youth pastor or something to that effect. Her bravery in sharing her personal stories, not hiding her struggles and her heart for helping people find the path that leads to Jesus Christ is something to be admired!
What I wasn't expecting in this book was all of the vibrant color in photography and graphic design that's on every single page! It's the first book that I've read that has these vivid features, not your traditional book (even the pages are made of glossy material) and I find that to be refreshing!
Emma's voice and storytelling style will engage you from the start and keep you turning the pages until the finish.
I highly recommend this book for parents to give their pre-teen and teenage daughters! I think that it will make a positive impact on their mind and heart and will also lead those young souls to JESUS (Christ)!
Bravo, Emma Mae, for making a SPLASH that LASTS! :)
*The author's publisher provided me (Alexis A. Goring) with a complimentary copy of this book, Be Loved, by Emma Mae Jenkins. My opinions in this book review are my own.
This was a cute self help book to encourage teens to stay true to themselves. Everyone of us needs to spend time each day with our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. We need to stand tall in moments of doubt and be courageous. Miss Jenkins encourages everyone to do that. She is not perfect and admits that in this story. She was voted HomeComing queen so she is not exactly like us as most of us were not the members of the court in high school, but she seems sincere in her desire that we all become queens, I wish she would have shared her Jesus Jams playlist in the book. She shares prayers and scriptures, but not the uplighting music that keeps her going. We all need music that inspires us each day along with prayer and feasting on the words of Christ.
This self help book is told through events Miss Jenkins experienced in High School. Each chapter ends with a prayer and some verses of scripture to help and encourage the reader to be better versions of themselves and to listen to what God wants for them.
I loved Emma's spirit, she is so full of Jesus and this book screams her. It is full of fun colors that will appeal to high school girls. The style of the book is not "normal", it is definitely different but I think that is what will make girls want to pick it up and read it, because it don't look like every other book.
Quit honestly, as an adult reading it, I felt convicted by the way Emma leads her life. She just doesn't care what others think and we live in a world that cares way to much. She is a great example for our young girls.
If you are looking for a gift that tween or teen in your life I recommend this book!
A copy of this book was given to to me. All opinions are my own.
Be Loved gives the reader a window into the life of Emma Mae Jenkins, a vibrant teenager who loves Jesus. Emma Mae’s zeal for life pours from the pages through colorful photos, vibrant fonts, and descriptive text. She shares what it’s like to move often, making new friends, and navigating the hurdles of high school. Prom and homecoming milestones are different through Emma Mae’s eyes. Would you let her sit with you in the cafeteria? You’d be honored to!
I found the book to be refreshing and encouraging, even though I’m an adult. It’s great to see a teen who is absolutely on fire for God. Emma Mae glorifies the Lord in every action and word found in Be Loved.
Thanks to the publisher for sending me a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions shared are mine.
Emma Mae Jenkins has encouraged me so much through this book. I have grown up in a Christian home my entire life and can relate to some of the struggles and things she has gone through. She serves the Lord wholeheartedly and she has challenged me to live for him, not caring what other people might think. As long as you are doing it for God and serving Him, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. She is one of my role models and I look up to her in everything that she does. Many of the things she writes about are things I could relate to and learn from, especially chapter one. This is a really great book I would recommend to all teenage girls.
I read this book in high school and absolutely loved it! I recently revisited this book to write a paper for a college course. It is filled with beautiful imagery and graphics which heighten the emotions and provide for a fun and comforting read. This book is filled with tons of examples of life from her high school years which makes this book feel relatable and her advice feels attainable. Be Loved is nothing short of an inspiration and a good time. While I enjoyed this book more when I was in my teens, it provides application for every walk of life because of its central theme of the Gospel.
This was a very easy to read book. I honestly did not like it a ton, just because there were more doodles and photos than words- I like books to mostly have words! It was so short that I finished it in two sittings. Even though I did not like the layout, the author is very vibrant and seems to be strong in her faith as a Christian- a quality I greatly admire. You can tell that she has strong faith in God and is confident because of Him. Despite not greatly enjoying this read, I admire Emma Mae's relationship with Jesus and strive to have faith as strong as hers.
Although this book is directed towards school age young adults, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has beautiful images throughout and drawings that make you feel like you are diving into Emma’s personal journal. The messages inside the book can be applied to people of any age, and I found I could apply them to myself as well. Emma has an incredible understanding of the Bible and shows so much joy in knowing God & sharing the word of the Lord. She teaches us how we can love people like Jesus and walk confidently like him. Wonderful book especially for high school and college students!
I read this book in one sitting! Wow what an inspiration and encouragement. I'm just inspired and moved by the encouragement authors like Emma Mae, Sadie Robertson, Jennie Allen and more write. Reading and understanding about how everyone even them have experienced things like fear and then to see how as time progressed their faith remained focused in God. These authors encourage me that yes the world will say this, but God says otherwise...
World: your ugly God: your beautiful World: you'll never amount to anything God: you are my child and I love you!
What a lovely read! This book for teen girls is full of encouragement, scripture, stories from the author’s life, and adorable illustrations!
It’s very quick to read, due to lots of pictures and cute calligraphy, as well as being only 160 pages. I was able to read it in an hour and a half and, let me just say, it was so good to read a nonfiction book! It’s been a little while since I’ve done that. While nonfiction is not my favorite or go-to genre, it’s really nice to read it every so often!
Four stars! Bonus points for the amazing smell of the copy I had!
This was a sweet, fun read. It’s not very dense, only 2 hours on audiobook, but it’s full of wisdom I aspire to have. Emma Mae’s joy and walk with the Lord is so inspiring! I just heard of Emma Mae for the first time on Sadie Robertson’s “Whoa That’s Good” podcast, and I loved listening to her joy and love for the Lord so I immediately borrowed her book. Emma Mae is a wonderful and relatable role model, and I’d recommend this for any middle or high school girl!
I read this book before I gave it to my teen daughter to read. I honestly couldn’t put it down and wish there were more books like this when I was her age. Emma Mae Jenkins has a positive and Godly view on life and I love that. You can feel her kindness and joy in her writing. This is such a sweet book and I highly recommend it for teen girls or even their moms, lol.
This book I about author relationship with God. This book is filled her life and how her faith in god made who is now. I loved reading this books and it gave me an insight in a different perspective. Also it filled me with a positive vibe. This book is great read.
It was a good book, but it was definitely made for a younger audience. I kinda knew that going into reading it; however, I wanted to read it anyway. Will definitely pass it down to someone younger who will get a higher benefit out of it then me.
Although this book was definitely written for a younger audience, I can’t help but love everything Emma does. She is the epitome of a human ray of sunshine and she’s consistently inspired me for years now. Such a beautiful, wholesome person.
