Zavia "Yolanda" Castillo comes from a long line of matchmakers, but using her gifts in the modern world can prove difficult, especially when she’s challenged by David Dillard, the inscrutable man that she’s never met. To prove her wrong, he presents her with someone he thinks will never be able to find love. Holden Elliot is the city’s richest and most eligible bachelor. The playboy has caught the hearts of the city even with his love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude, but when it comes to choosing a wife, he has a very specific ideal. Polished. Sophisticated. Compartmentalized. Crystal Harriet is everything that he doesn’t want. The free-spirited woman has found a successful niche in the motivational speech market as she helps other women open up and find their own happiness, but when it comes to love, she’s the one who can’t quite take that final step forward. Unfortunately for her, Holden has decided that she’s the one, and he’s determined to make her see it too. Zavia will have to pull out all the tricks in her book if she’s going to help this couple find their happy ever after. Read The Matchmaker - Book One now!

I absolutely loved this book!! I liked that it was short but I really enjoy books like this. Zavia is a matchmaker and she is really good at her job. David works in the same building and has a hard time believing that Zavia has real talent in setting up someone's ever after, so he comes to her with a challenge in the way of Holden Elliot. David doesn't believe that Zavia will create a match for him. I personally think that David likes Zavia and vice versa, but that is another story.
Holden gets set up with Crystal who at first does not see eye to eye with Holden. She feels like Holden is not her ever after and their dates are not so great. But Holden really wants to give it a try with Crystal and there are parts in the book that i don't want to give away, but he really does listen to her needs and wants and won't give up on them. I can definitely see a continuation of this series and I would so read it. It was fantastic and romantic with some plot twists here and there. I would also like to see a back story on Zavia and her family and her own love story. I highly recommend reading this romantic book!! I can't wait to read book 2.

Oh how I've missed Leslie Johnson's books! I'm so glad she's back! As always with her books, I devoured this one!!
When starting out reading this one, I thought I knew where it was headed, but man was I wrong. Zavia is a matchmaker alongside her grandmother. Both of them have the "gift" about who matches up and who doesn't. Somehow though it skipped Zavia's mother's generation (she's an interesting character).
When her business neighbor, annoying as he is, challenged her to find someone for a friend of his, she gladly accepts.
Holden is rich, gorgeous and can have any woman he desires. He has 0 faith in this deal his friend has made about finding him a mate, but he's ready to settle down in life and everyone he dates only wants his money. He needs someone who can act professional at business dinners. He meets Crystal and our story takes off!!
The Matchmaker. This was a well written story. I was a little confused at first as to who was using the matchmaking services. But once the characters are established, the story flowed with confidence. Zavia is head of a matchmaking service that uses secret weapons to match her couples. Zavia and her grandmother run the business excluding Zari's mother who sucks at relationships. I enjoyed how Zavia was able to show Crystal and Holden they were meant to be together since their connection was a challenge from Zavia's arrogant business dweller, David. David doesn't believe in what Zavia does but puts up with her in the same building as his and can't wait to see her business fell. But it seems their maybe a little something stirring with them two.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. “The Matchmaker: Book One” is a terrific book you must read. You get double the characters all in one book. I love that this starts with Zavia Castillo who is the amazing matchmaker along with her grandmother who finds peoples soulmates. The story revolves around Zavia and her next door office neighbor who looks down on what she does. He ends up giving her challenge to match up his friend a notorious playboy Holden Elliot. Zavia matches Holden with Crystal who is his exact opposite. I won't go further because I hate spoilers, so you need to get this book to know what happens next. You won't regret it. These characters are very well developed. Leslie Johnson knocked this book out of the park. Her writing is spectacular. I was hooked from the very first paragraph. You can’t help but fall in love with each and every character. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Can’t wait until Leslie Johnson’s next book comes out!
The Matchmaker is Zavia and she is very good at what she does. She is doing a favor for a man who works in her building and a friend to her new client Holden Elliot who has in his mind what he thinks he wants in a wife but as he is on his way to the matchmaker he runs into a woman that is just the opposite of what he is looking for. That someone is Crystal who happens to be a motivational speaker, she has decided that her business is going so well she can take time to try and find love even though she was attracted to the man getting on the elevator his type is definitely not what she wants in a lover. As luck would have it they end up on a date. Great story line and the characters were pretty interesting as well. I was given an ARC by author as a gift without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
This book is a the first in a brand new series by Lesile Johnson. Zavia comes from a long line of matchmakers and is given a challenge by David Dillard a man that she has never met with finding a match for someone that is unable to find love. Holden is the city's richest and most eligible bachelor and playboy who has a love 'em/leave 'em attitude. Holden has a specific ideal on what his wife should be and those are polished, sophisticated and compartmentalized and Crystal Harriet isn't any of those. Will Zavia be able to make these two see that they belong with each other or will fate have other plans. This story is told from multiply points of view.

I enjoyed this sweet quick read, nice break from heavy technical stuff I read most days.
There are two couples that we are introduced to in this book; Zavia and David, as well as Holden and Crystal. The book starts off with David challenging Zavia, a professional matchmaker, to find a partner for his friend, Holden, who he is convinced won’t settle down. Enter Holden into the story.
Crystal, a motivational speaker, can’t seem to commit to a relationship so approaches Zavia.
Can Zavia help Holden and Crystal realise that they are each other’s ‘one’?
If only there was a matchmaker for real... !! by lilitigerparis
I really enjoyed this book "the matchmaker" as it was fast-paced, sweet and romantic. I understand that's the first of a series. I can't wait to read the other books. Glad that the author Leslie Johnson didn't give up on publishing her work and I'm sure that she'll become one of our to-go authors when we need a break from our everyday life.

The book started describing Zavia and her family business of finding true love. I first got the idea that the book would be about her but later I found out that was about Crystal and Holden story. Holden is a millionaire playboy and Crystal a motivational speaker, they felt attracted to each other but at the same time they belonged to different worlds. Would they find they happily after?...Overall it’s an easy reading, and I totally recommend the book.

Book one in The Matchmaker series well written and a great start to this series. It is a short story that has a lot of story to it. Zavia is great at what she does for others but blind when it comes to herself. She goes to great lengths at times to get her clients to realise what they are looking for in a partner. After the track record in her family though she doesn't think love is in the cards for her. Can't wait for the next installment to see what happens next.

This was an entertaining and enjoyable read that had me hooked grom page one. Zavia is the leading matchmaker in the city that has a good track record of matching up partners so she accepted the challenge to find a partner for billionaire playboy Holden... but the woman that Xavia has in mind for him is the opposite of what he is looking for in a woman...

Holden gets set up with Crystal. The two are completely opposite of each other. The banter and chemistry between them is off the charts. However, they are both stubborn. Read on to find out what happens between them. Good characters. The story flows smoothly.

Leslie Johnson is back and I am astatic! The Matchmaker is a new series and the first book is fantastic. It's laugh out loud funny, romantic, and engaging. Leslie's writing will suck you in. The characters are likeable and will get you emotionally invested in their story. Told in multiple POVs.
Absolutely enjoyed this short read. I love matchmaker books who help people find their soulmate. Sometimes it is the least likely person that ends up being the love of your life.

Zavia matches Holden with Crystal she does not meet Holden’s wants for a wife. While he wants someone polished. Crystal is instead a motivational speaker for other women to empower them and find their happiness. As she tries to build women up, Holden not so much.
WOW!!!! What else is there to say. This was a really HOT story, and you will be missing out if you do not read it. I could not put it down it was that good!
