Rate this book
Since when is playing Robin Hood part of the plan?

Pop into the unguarded apartment, find the multi-million dollar Treskilling stamp, pop back out. That’s it, that’s the entirety of Ivan’s plan.

What’s not part of the plan?

• Meeting the cute Aiden Stalworth
• Feeling guilty about trying to steal from the cute Aiden Stalworth
• Becoming Aiden’s “Robin Hood” and buying him all the things
• Playing bodyguard while searching for the stamp
• Being trusted completely by Aiden

Ivan very quickly realizes he needs a new plan:

• Seduce Aiden
• Protect him
• Find the stamp

Oh, and lick him. Licking Aiden needs to be part of the plan too. However, Ivan’s not sure how having his heart get stolen made it onto his list.

3.5 Stars!!

One thing about this series; you need to suspend belief and just go along for the ride. When you do this, you'll most definitely enjoy yourself as I did.

It was funny, heartwarming and just made me want to squeeze Aiden and hug him so tight. He had such a crappy family that he meeting and falling for Ivan in the quite a biz are manner(suspend belief remember?) was just the thing he needed.

I enjoyed reacquainting myself with Ivan's chosen family(Ari,Carter, Kyou and Remi) and all their craziness so much I honestly didn't want the book to end since it was what I needed for my mood.

I will be impatiently waiting for Kyou's book where we finally get to meet the man he's been stalking tracking "protecting". Lol!

its a good addition to the series, i am more excited for Kyou's book so i wasn't looking forward to reading this one at the beginning, but i am glad that i was mistaken and this book was worth the read.

ivan is a ride and aiden is a good match for him, to calm his wild antics down.

i knew where the stamp would be stashed it was easy to tell right away, but that didn't deter me from continuing the book. i enjoyed this group of assassin/thief's/hackers/mercenaries.

now on to kyou!!

I’m not going lie here... I was slightly disappointed with this book.

I was really looking forward to Ivan’s book after book one. I mean let’s be serious... I’m a sucker for Russians, who would have thought? Anyways, in book one Ivan was the big and bad, yet silly, Russian that melted into goo every time he was with Remi. I loved that.

While Ivan’s character remained the same, thankful for small miracles, the story just didn’t do it for me. There was a lot of internal dialogue and long winded declarations, I really just wanted to give up or start skimming.

What I really missed was the team work and family building that was in book one. Yes, they worked together as a unit in this book, and yes they were a family but the family has already been built and settled and while they worked together it wasn’t really an all hands on deck type of mission. It would have one or two of the guys doing menial things here and there, and in the end the results literally just fell into their lap...

In the end it really just wasn’t all that exciting and the romance was meh. I still loved Ivan and really he was just the best part of the book. Although I really do have one complain on Ivan’s character. Please tell me why he speaks with a Russian accent but he thinks I’m perfect in English. I get it makes it a smoother for reader, but I just felt it odd.

Re-read for a group challenge week 2. Ivan was full on must protect mode which was sweet. If not for the rest of the teams concerns, this would've been Ivan doing what he wanted and Aiden going along with it.

Re-read. As much as I like Ivan, I really wanted to skip to Kyou's story. There's something about this one that lacks what the other two have. I think it's the family and the insta-love.

Re-read. Out of the three this one is my least favourite but still good. Remi is growing steadily in dangerous ways and Kyou finally has medical help. I think this one has more annoyances in it, the family is just ugh. I felt sorry for Aiden that he felt he could trust the first person that helped him, but the hardship kept him turning out like the rest of his family. After reading all three books, I missed Tricksy in the first one. I liked how Remi immediately likes her and how all the guys didn’t want them to meet.

Just when you think it can’t be more adorable than a smiling mercenary and an assassin taking in a little girl, you’ve got Ivan. The thief that buys furniture for the instead of stealing. These two were sweet, then adding in the rest of the team and I am in love with these books. Didn’t like the rest of Aidan’s family but I liked how trusting he was and how he takes things. I’m looking forward to Kyou’s book and more doctoring.

"Look, when a hot Russian thief breaks in and offers to feed you, smart people agree."

Another great story from AJ Sherwood. I just love all the characters she creates. Ivan and Aiden's story was fun, sweet and entertaining from start to finish.

"Ivan's a hot mess."
"Excuse you ," Ivan sniffed . "At least I'm a fun hot mess. Like a train wreck full of pizza, fireworks, and glitter."

Audiobook Review

I love Ivan, I have since the first book in the series. Not gonna lie about that. He could have stolen everything in all the cities and I would have cheered him on.

In this one we have Ivan meeting Aiden and it was instalove on steroids. There was a storyline about stealing a stamp but honestly, it did not play a large part of anything.

After only just meeting, these two are in love and decide to leave New Orleans and move to Boston to take care of K, and this begins the next story

I absolutely love the dual narration and the narrators, but I wish Iggy would have done Aiden's voice and Antonio Ivan's. It would have worked so much better.

A good series.

I really love these group of criminal men. They are so very sweet and they put their family above all else.

In this book, we get to see the thief, Ivan meet his guy and fall in love. We also get his background and it was truly sad.

Aiden is a perfect fit for this group and I am glad that he got his happy ending.

This is hilarious. I was so entertained and amused with this. A stealthy and witty thief Ivan meets a pediatrician in training Aiden. Of course, Ivan had to fall in love with the doctor, to Kyou's despair. Ivan was totally going into protective papa bear mode from the very start. I love that and it definitely aligned with the impression I got from the first book in the series. I really love this series and onwards I go for the last book to see how our Kyou turns out.

Meeting Ivan in How to Shield an Assassin, I was a bit sceptical of how Ivan would handle being in a committed relationship. But the way these two acknowledge their situation being unorthodox and how they ended up together at warp speed, it still felt very right. Aiden just accepted Ivan's craziness as a part of what makes Ivan.

Ivan freaking out over not being good for Aiden was just plain cute, but Ivan overcame this episode and decided to come clean about his past.

Told in dual POV, alternating between Ivan and Aiden we get a glimps of Aiden's very lonely childhood. While he got all the care and stability from his grandmother, he could not be open with her about being gay.
His family is the epitome of greed and I would have very much like to have more closure on them.

Overall, a great read. Aiden was exactly what Ivan needed and it was just amazing to read how the skilled thief turned into this big marshmallow around the auburn cutie.

What to say about this book...? Most of my feelings toward it are positive. And one's a tiny bit less so. But I want to start with a warning, just because I read a review by someone who could've benefitted from it. Besides, the author gave it in the synopsis, too.

Basically... don't take the book seriously. I know that doesn't seem like a big proclamation. But the book—the series, really—makes no attempt to seem serious or realistic. It follows a team comprised of a thief, an assassin, a mercenary, a hacker, and a nine-year-old. And they're all fairly nice and don't hurt innocent people. At no point does the author make claims about attempting to imitate the behaviour of actual criminals. You just have to read about Ivan and Aiden's meet-cute to know that.

Ivan is a master thief. He's taken a job to steal a stamp worth a lot of money. The woman who owned the stamp left her collection to her grandson in her will. That's Aiden. Except Aiden's doesn't have the stamp because his greedy uncle contested the will. He took anything he could get his hands on and left Aiden's with an apartment devoid of furniture, and no money.

Ivan, when he breaks into Aiden's house to steal the stamp, sees that it's empty. And with the help of Kyou, the hacker, finds out what happened. And he feels so bad for trying to steal from someone who has nothing that he sticks around to wait for Aiden to get back home. In the meantime, he buys Aiden furniture! And this happens at the very beginning of the novel, letting the reader know what they're getting into. And it's how the book continues to be—funny, a little bizarre, and definitely cute.

The rest of the novel focuses on looking for the stamp, Aiden and Ivan's super sweet romance, and making sure that Aiden's protected from anyone else who might come looking for the stamp. Also, Ivan and the team try to help Aiden get back what his uncle took from him.

It's a very lighthearted novel. I love the characters in this series. And I love the non-serious, zero-angst tone. But it can also be a bit of a problem. The middle portion of the novel, for example, was too uneventful. It lacked tension and conflict. I kinda wanted someone to kidnap Aiden just so things would pick up. And things did pick up soon after. But about 20% of the middle part was a tad dull.

Overall though, I really enjoyed the novel, just like I did the last one. And I can't wait for the last book to come out. I want Kyou's story so badly. Let's hope it comes out soon.

I don't know...I feel like Sherwood kind of phoned it in on this one. It seemed like there was even less plot than in the first installment and I wasn't as into the relationship between Ivan and Aiden. Everything was way too easy. Of course, Sherwood worked to explain why exactly Aiden was so cool with a bunch of criminals, but I just had a harder time believing it.

Something that also bothered me was how quickly Ivan trusted Aiden and told him everything, including his compatriots' real names. Um, hello? The first book did nothing but stress secrecy and protecting Remi, but then Ivan throws everything out there after a day? It didn't feel right.

I also got the sense that this book was up its own ass a little bit. It revels in its own series with all those wink, wink, nudge, nudge moments. That's probably the author's effort to read newbies into the series if they're starting with the second book, but since I read the two books one after another it was unnecessary and felt like the book was trying too hard with in-jokes and appreciating its own characters.

The more I thought about this book, the more I feel that the first book had similar flaws, but the couple plus the kid hit that sweet spot I'm looking for so I was blinded to its problems. I'm still interested in reading the third book because Kyou's relationship with his love interest is already so strange and different. I think that'll be a fun one. I never was as invested in Ivan as Ari and I think the author wasn't either.

I feel bad rating this story as low as I did because I like Ivan, I like Aiden, I like them as a couple and I adore all the characters from the previous book. While the story itself was a little bland compared to their previous escapades, what really turned me off this story was how obvious it was that the author doesn't understand how the medical residency process works in America.

I know that the vast majority of people don't know how the process works because it is a specialized system that only applies to a small portion of people, but I am currently going through the process right now and it was quite off-putting to keep thinking "that's not how that works" or "what is he even talking about?" I imagine this same sentiment can carry over to any profession represented in any book, but this felt pretty lazy. Anytime a story is set in the real world or something close to it, without proper research it is very easy to pull someone who knows about the real subject out of the story.

I will continue to read future installments in the series, but I hope in the future Sherwood does a little more research before trying to represent something she doesn't understand. I did not write this to be cruel to the author but as a critic to improve any future writing. I own almost every book she has published and I LOVE them. This story was very disappointing to me, but I still look forward to future stories from her.

First review
I adored this one, too.
The narration by Iggy Toma and Antonio Amato was spot on, and I loved their voices.
I know that this will be one of the books, I will listen to regularly

Ivan was a hoot, and I loved Aidens' take on his profession. They are perfect for each other and I really enjoyed that the author didn't take the possible route of miscommunication

Carter and Ari are as in their book perfect. And Remy and K are great secondary characters

Can't wait to start the next one

This one was just as much fun to read as the first one. Of the group, Ivan is a bit of a loose cannon, does some wild stuff, a lot of times I think to get a reaction out of the others. But with this one we got to see a different side. I loved how after he scoped out Aiden's living situation things changed for him, that he had to do something for this poor guy that was royally screwed over by his family. It was fun then to see Aiden adjust to over the top Ivan, his line of work and the others. Aiden quickly fell in with them all, even Remi. As things progressed it was a good thing that Ivan was smitten with Aiden because he needed the help and as much as a bad ass as Ivan is you could tell that he loved having Aiden around.

I loved how things ended, how they were the ones to screw over Aiden's family and the new start all of them are making.

Fun book

I really enjoyed this book of thieves. When the person who came to rob you turns out to be your everything. This book is a bit insta love, but it worked for this book, and when you know you know. I enjoyed the banter between all the characters and the love and trust with the MC’s. It was easy to figure out the mystery but that didn’t take away from the fun of the story. The writing was good, and the characters were fun.

I really enjoyed this story. Ivan and Aiden are so cute together. I would have like more retribution for Aiden's family. Towards the end things wrapped up really quickly. Still it was a really cute story and I will definitely read the next one to finish off the series.

AJ Sherwood can be very hit and miss for me but this series is a winner and this book especially so.

We met Ivan previously and he is the irreverent, Russian thief of this trio. When arriving to steal a valuable stamp from Aiden, he finds Aiden having been ripped off by his own family and living in an emptied apartment, so proceeds instead to buy him furniture and groceries instead! So begins their relationship with shenanigans galore from Ivan, the mystery of the missing stamp, Aiden's truly awful family and plenty of appearances from the other characters we love.

Aiden is adorable and I loved how he just went with Ivan's crazy like it was all just normal. He trusted so easily and that just melted Ivan's heart. They really were too cute together.

Looking forward to Kyou's story next.
