My name is Brady Pearson, and I’ve been baking at The Fluffy Cupcake for seven years.
I’ve been in love with her the whole time.
Haylee Davis. The Fluffy Cupcake’s owner and baker extraordinaire.
She regards her fluffiness with disdain. I regard her fluffiness with so damn much desire it’s becoming impossible to hide it day after day.
This summer, I’m putting her on notice. She will be my cupcake by July thirteenth. That’s the day she turns the big 3-OH. And OH, am I going to take pleasure in showing her how to live again.
Haylee might be my boss, but I know how to stay hands-off in the bakery. I’ll save those hands for the bedroom where they’ll roam over every one of her curves like the beautiful, delectable, sweet cupcake she is. The time has come to teach Haylee there is more to life than baking sweet confections, and I’m the perfect guy for the job.
Is it possible?
I don’t know, but I have to try because there is no point in staying here if I can’t have my cake and eat it, too.
Katie Mettner wears the title of 'the only person to lose her leg after falling down the bunny hill' and loves decorating her prosthetic leg to fit the season. She lives in Northern Wisconsin with her own happily-ever-after and spends the day writing romantic stories with her sweet puppy by her side. Katie has an addiction to coffee and dachshunds and a lessening aversion to Pinterest — now that she’s quit trying to make the things she pins.
Mettner has done it again! This contemporary romance has the right mixture of romance, some sex but not overmuch so this isn't a book that falls into another genre, the perfectly imperfect people who are perfect for each other, the scrumptious bakery of pure delight, a fair, a bake off and attempted murder. That's for starters, more a basic romance, this one has all the feels and gut wrenching moments. Five stars.
This book totally hit the insecurities of a woman who grew up without love and has the extra padding that so many consider fat and unattractive. What a great story. Very well done and definitely healed a little part of that young girl in me.
Cupcake (The Fluffy Cupcake Book 1) by Katie Mettner
Brady has been in love with his Boss Haylee for some time, she just does not know this. She is about to turn 30 years old and still unlucky in love. As owner of The Fluffy Cupcake Bakery, it leaves little time for a social life, let alone love.
Brady is ready for a change in his personal life, he is determined to win Haylee's heart. In his eyes she is perfection. Although she has some insecurities that won't stop him. Her best friend trying to set her up on blind dates could be a dent in his plan, but perseverance is key. Will true love prevail?
A fast paced original story centered on a bakery (yum). Brady is very likable he seems to be perfect for Haylee. He is comfortable with where he is in life with one thing missing, love.
Haylee is very likable as well. She had a rough upbringing and struggles with true happiness. I wanted Haylee to overcome her insecurities and see her and Brady happy together. They really are a perfect pair and need to let love take control of their lives.
I found Cupcake very enjoyable, and look forward to more in this new series by Katie Mettner. I highly recommend to those who love a great sweet romance.
Katie is an author you can't go wrong with. You want real characters you can relate to? You want to fall in love with them as they fall in love? If so, pick up any of Katie's books. You won't regret it!!! Thank you again Katie for another great love story!
A very sweet, romantic love story. A little heat rounds it out nicely. The characters are interesting and there's some good action, too. I'd give it three flames out of five for heat.
I love cupcakes and this book was sweet and fluffy but it could do without the numerous repetitions of the phrase "to toss/throw up her hands" which was kind of annoying. 4 stars
Total trash I won't be reading the next book and wouldn't recommend this book there is no substance or story to it just a horny man wanting sex with his female boss who is a serial dater. Absolute rubbish.
I truly enjoyed this book. It was a fun read! Both Haylee and Brady were orphaned and went through the foster system. Brady went to a family who loved and raised him, whereas Haylee did not have a great life until she met her bestie, Amber! WHen Amber's sister turned 18 and went to college, they were able to take Haylee in and then her life was forever changed!
Haylee is successful in business, but has a low "body" self esteem and the town "BULLY" feeds off this! Darla is the kind of person everyone loves to hate!
Brady has worked for Haylee for just about 7 years and has wanted Haylee to date him for most of those years, but she can't believe he could be interested in her because of her "cupcake" body -- thin at the top and thick at the bottom, but he's been in love with her for years!
He finally kisses her in the cooler and things seem to take off! Then, Darla causes more problems and she attacks Haylee. I don't want to write more spoiler, but you need to read this book. It is fun, fast-paced and I'm ready to start Book 2!
Thanks, Katie, for your books! Though some of your books make me cry, most of them make me laugh, too!
I absolutely loved this book, and meeting the wonderful characters! Haylee and Amber are best friends and own the Fluffy Cupcake Bakery. Brady works for them and makes the best bread and although he has the opportunity to run his own bakery he will never leave because of Haylee. He has been trying for 7 years to get Haylees attention, but she knows his reputation with the women and although she has set her goal to be in a relationship by the time she is 30, she won’t allow Brady to love her and leave her. As successful as The Fluffy Bakery is, Haylee’s arch enemy , Darla, is determined to ruin everything Haylee has worked for. Can Brady convince Haylee that he isn’t who she thinks he is, and can he protect her from Darla? You will fall in love with the wonderful characters and you will definitely be craving A Fluffy Cupcake…or two
I loved this love story, this small town and almost all cupcakes in the bakery. Determination to succeed in business, love and friendship , beside all traumatic issues from childhood is making Haylee a person loved and respected, but she has yet to be convinced . So warm story that should be read and recommended to all readers, story that will make me read more books by Katie Mettner. I loved the characters, bakery and fair, I learn some secrets for cupcakes and discovered that the love is magic. My all Five stars for this amazing book of love, friendship and determination
Amber and Haylee are part owners in the business, better known as The Fluffy Cupcake. Brady is their baker and bread maker. It seems Brady has a crush on Haylee, and she has one on him. Haylee's many insecurities cause her to withdraw from relationships even when she made a pac with herself to be seriously involved by her 30th birthday.
A great read for the playfulness between Brady and Haylee. And for the three friendships that have been established in the bakery over 8 years. I loved it!
I love reading books on romance in a small town where all your neighbors are friends. They do not only know you but are part of an extended family. I love the part where the hero was patient enough to wait for the heroine to take a chance on him. I love how the hero understands and tolerates the insecurities of his love and…. He still loves her despite it. That’s love beyond the physical.
I think I expected more. It was a cute short read but it didn't hold up to what I hoped it would be. That's on me of course. It was cute and sweet and well written buut...the dialogue wasn't that great (and dialogue is usually my deal breaker) and all the bakery references (even during intimate moments) was just too much! As I said all in all it was okay just not to my taste (no pun intended)
It is about Brady who works at the Cupcake bakery, and he has worked there for years. It is also about his boss, Haylee. He has finally decided to do something about how he feels about his boss. You will have to read the book to see what all transpires between them. There is also the co-owner of the bakery, too. She knows what all is going on in the bakery. I think you will enjoy this story as much as I did.
I really loved this fluffy romance that took some time to roll out. It was such a sweet story ( See what I did there Katie) 😄 Haylee is down on herself because of her looks, and Brady can't help looking at her. Meanwhile, Darla, her archenemy is always around causing Haylee problems. Haylee just needs a "shove" in the right direction to see what is right in front of her. That's when the kitchen heats up. I will leave the rest to your imagination. This is a 5 star read romance.
Unfortunately not my cup of tea i got to 50% and DNF ....it was a little slow but I kept going thinking it'll pick up but when they started to finally get physical it was all about snacking on her cupcake and kneading his bread and tbh it was just too much, I don't think it was meant to be funny...but maybe it was. I'm sure it'll appeal to some readers just not me
Haylee and her best friend own and run a bakery. Brady is their bread maker and has had feelings for his boss for 7 years. She had a rough childhood and is rather down on herself and he is determined to change that. There is some drama from an old rival. There is potential for this to be a good series.
Haley owns a bakery with her best friend. Her best friends runs the front while she does the baking along with her kitchen manager, Brady. Brady has had a crush on Haley from the beginning, but he'll have to convince her that he is the to stay. Short and sweet, I really liked this couple.
Haylee is a talented bakery owner who is a bit hard on herself. Brady has been working in the bakery for several years and is smitten with his boss. Circumstances being Haylee and Brady together and they finally give into their feelings.
What a cute small town love story. Filled with love and laughter and even a little drama. Just as small town life is. Hayley and Brady are both awesome characters as are all the others too. I can’t wait to delve into the next book and head to the lake once more.
I enjoyed this simple and sweet book! There’s a little steam and lots of swoony moments. It was a treat to get lost in an easy read that didn’t over complicate a love story.
I greatly enjoyed this story. Its full of humor and emotion. I've got to admit, I would love to have this bakery in my town. You won't regret taking the time to read this heartwarming book.
This story was amazing. A little sad and eye opening that a bully doesn't always grow up and out of their meanness. Happy that the characters can overcome the vitriol. Amazing friends amazing town and now I want to visit the Fluffy Cupcake bakery!
This was such a sweet story, I loved how in love, with Haylee, Brady was, and how determined he was to get her to see her worth. I also loved that she finally stood up for herself and for her happily ever after.
This book was a joy to read! I love the idea of the story, the interactions of the players and of course the romantic ending. I feel everyone will love this feel good romance.
