Tris

When a spring flower blooms too early, it often wilts while others blossom during their proper season.

That’s me in a nutshell, and what eventually landed me in the nuthouse.

Through necessity, I found a new passion, one that helps mask the darkness by thrusting me into the spotlight.

Each show is a session, ending in a kiss meant for revenge.

He broke me, and I will make sure I do the same to him.

Matteo

Wealth is the very thing most people desire above all else, except those who have it and know the truth in its empty pleasures.

Love, the ultimate luxury, is the one thing that even the wealthy cannot afford.

I lived without it all of my life, and when I found love, I could no longer live with it.

On my journey from then until now, I have accepted my fate and found solace in molding beautiful things that others can love.

I am a broken man, but I’ll make sure all I leave behind is whole.

This is a story about two broken hearts—one danced in dark and one in light—who were both marked by tragedy yet found love, and together, they created a beautiful life.

This is Tris and Matteo's story and what a roller coaster it was. yes, the characters are flawed and damaged and very complex but MJ Fields describes their characters in detail making you empathize and understand them. Mj also makes you want to reach into the book and give them a cuddle and tell them it will all work out in the end.
Zandor has always been my favourite Steel and as Tris is his daughter he is heavily included in this book, which i wasn't upset about AT ALL. And reading about how he and Bekah are with their family makes my heart sing.
Loved this book, loved the characters and Loved Zandor all over again.......

So I just finished Amias book and just like Brisa, we were treated to half of the story for the next book. I couldn’t really enjoy it because if that. I wasn’t nothing to do with this mess even though I’ve been a huge fan in the past. We get it, you want to show everyone how you can write a dark awful story and complete with more successful authors. It just sucks that you don’t care about alienating the fan base you already had to do it. This “dark” story that you have coming would have been better as a stand-alone. But certainly not with kids we “watched” grow up. Seeing them running around cheating on each other, aborting a baby because he dared cheat. Then is immediately out touring the world as a rock star, behaving very much like the adult, marrying a 25 year old. Yeah, no thanks. You wanted to go dark. You don’t care what it does to the fans who’ve been reading about these kids forever. Yay you!

Oh My Word! Ok not my words, but MJ's words!
A heartbreaking journey; trouble with a capital "T"; It's also strength and love and family all wrapped in a kaleidoscope of color! So very moving!
ALL . THE . FEELS (but no tears .. maybe I'm broken?) <3

I did NOT see that twist coming .. but with MJ I thought I always expect the unexpected .. but I never expected that!

And can we talk about the cameos from the original Steel?! 🔥🔥🔥

In previous appearances, I was not a big fan of Matteo, but MJ managed to change my mind and make we swoon .. after all isn't Italiano the language of love?! 💕 💕 💕

I found myself using the translate option in Kindle quite often and wishing Matteo was the one speaking it to me!

I’m so speechless in a good way! This is a powerful intense storyline with angst and healing love. I’m so in love with Tris and Matteo, they each are fighting their own demons.
So much emotions, good and bad.
I’m so happy they met each other and fell in love. He is an artist and she is a singer, it’s their escape and it works for them. The Steel family are in this lovely book and I just love it when they parents and Momma Joe are in the storyline!

I cried so much reading this book and it so heartbreaking and beautiful and happy at the same time! I wasn’t sure how their story was going to go but wow MJ Fields is just super talented! She has not disappointed me at all. I believe in miracles, especially with Matteo and Tris, I believe true love can heal and as I read this book with tissues I was not disappointed. I love this book so very much. I so very recommended this book to every book lover. I don’t think my review did this book justice.
I was given an ARC through BookFunnel for an honest review.

Marked Steel is Tris and Matteo’s story and it’s the perfect addition to the Steel Crew, it’s a captivating read that will draw you in from the first chapter to the last line.
Tris and Matteo’s journey is about two broken souls, trying to find a way to heal and their connection is evident from the first time they meet. Tris struggles with life but she lives her life the way she wants and that often proves difficult for her and others around her. Matteo is fighting his own demons and he struggles to fight the connection and the pull he has found with Tris.
So will they become stronger together or will their demons tear them apart.....
This is an very emotional story, as you would expect from MF Fields this story relies heavily on love and family but it’s also full of twists and turns that you don’t see coming. Marked Steel is so much more than a love story, it’s a journey about looking deep inside yourself and accepting what you find. It’s gritty, raw and dark and there may be some triggers for some readers but Ms Fields handled everything in this book compassionately and with respect.

The story has secrets, passion, surprises, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well, and I was kept interested.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Tagged Steel (Steel Crew #1)
Branded Steel (Steel Crew #2)
Laced Steel (Steel Crew #3)
Justified Steel (Steel Crew #4)
Tricked Steel (Steel Crew #5)
Busted Steel (Steel Crew #6)
Smashed Steel (Steel Crew #7)

This is Tris and Matteo’s story. She is broken. He is broken. Can two so broken people really be together? This story will pull out all your emotions as you learn what broke these two to begin with and how they are learning to heal. Each brings different issues to the table but in the end can they help each other out? Will love be able to heal even the deepest of hurts? Even if you didn’t like these two at the beginning you learn to love them by the end.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

This was okay. I feel like I'm not reading about the same family. These stories are so random and completely contradicting of what the Steel men would allow for their daughters. They were portrayed as such a strong family but they kept huge secrets from each other. The "crew" wasn't so much a crew after "Tricks". These are young kids/adults. I would have liked to see more partying, sneaking around and the dads being dads knowing what we know about their wild times. I understand we wanted to talk about mental issues but WHY did she have to marry Matteo when she is CLEARLY underage??? Why is Matteo okay with being with someone underage? I immediately thought "hide ya kids, ya'll?". Don't get me wrong, I love dark romance, but I didn't think the underage thing was MJ's style. Especially not with THIS family. I gave it a 3 star because it was good, but I miss the classic Forever Steel-ness of it. IYKYK.

Also, am I the only one that hoping for Marcello to be the hero??

Amazing read!!!

This book was phenomenal and did such an amazing job showing the struggles of having a mental disorder, and not shying away from how everyone is affected by this disease. I honestly appreciated that the author didn't villainize the person suffering from the disorder but made you more aware of the struggles they faced and how things may seem selfish or rude to others isn't meant but more harmful to the individual who is suffering from the disorder.

Tris was a very complex character and has had the nickname of trouble for years but secretly has had major mental issues that cause episodes of outbursts deeming her as her nickname. You follow along to a journey of lashing out and struggling to live with one's self, to finding a person that finally sees you for more than your disorder. When a chance meeting or kiss brings the final healing of acceptance from a broken stranger, world's are turned upside down and a epic and touching love story plays out.

Matteo is one of my absolute favorite characters so far. He is such a beautifully broken soul with a lightness he brings. He may have made peace with his situation but with one kiss fate steps in and gives him a love he never had or thought he could have. This story shows how it takes one person to see you as more than an illness and want hope for more. He is absolutely the kindest person and brings a light to Tris's darkness that lurks about at times.

This story is one that will have you glued to the pages as an epic love story is brought out, from struggles and hopelessness to forgiveness and to hope that is restored. This is a soul shattering story of two flawed characters that find their soul mate and begin to heal one another. I highly recommend this book, if you want a emotional journey from mental illness struggles to finding the support and love that heals enough to make everyday become a better one. Grab it and dive in you won't be disappointed if you want an epic romance that gives you all the feels.

This is an honest review for an arc received.

“Nothing is ever so broken that love can’t heal it.”

Tris Steel is reeling after a devastating breakup, and copes the only way she knows how. Performing with her band and sealing the show with a kiss to a stranger. When the unexpected happens, and a soul searing connection is made, she will do everything she can to know him. Although she deals with episodes she can’t fully explain to her family, she is trying to find a balance.

I wish with everything I am that I could tell her to embrace the love that surrounds her, because love is truly a gift.

Matteo Arias, an artist in his own rights, was captivated by the beautiful singer and silently willed her to kiss him at the end of her show. Determined to prove to her she is worthy of love and happiness, he sets out to show her just that. Although he’s secretly dealing with his own major issues. No matter how much he just wanted to be friends, the heart wants who it wants.

I have condemned my heart to hell in hopes I can get a glimpse of heaven.

5 heart wrenching stars! MJ Fields slayed this book. She takes you on a beautiful journey of self discovery, self acceptance, and an undeniable love. You will fall in love with Matteo. Your heart will break for Tris. Your soul will sing with the loving bond these two quickly develop. Tris was always a mystery and a loose cannon, but her story was beautifully written.

“Sometimes, it takes being loved in a different light to be able to let others in to see your true colors.

5 star Review Marked Steel (Steel Crew #8) by M.J.Fields

Another well written book from M.J.Fields with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in. This is Tris and Matteo’s story and it was one that drew me in and had me hooked from the first chapter.

Both Tris and Matteo are damaged souls, both broken and trying to find a way to heal; these two have a deep connection. Ms.Fields tackles issues within Marked Steel and she handles it well.

Marked Steel is an emotional journey, a story of love and family and was a roller coaster of a read with some surprising twists and turns. It is a journey of self discovery, of looking deep into oneself and coming to terms with what you find there.

There may be some triggers for some readers but as I have come to expect from M.J. Fields, they were handled with respect. The writing is strong and the story one that will touch you on many levels.

It was great to see some familiar faces and I am loving this younger generation of the Steel family.

So many emotions and so many tears. Sad tears as well as happy tears. The connection between Matteo and Tris is something everyone dreams about when finding their forever. The pain and suffering they have endured in their lives is heartbreaking. Together they calm one another and find peace with each other and also heal each other. Something they never found with anyone else. This story will make you feel like jumping into the pages and grabbing on to both Matteo and Tris and never let go. Such a beautiful love they share that is not only physical but so much more. They each make the other whole. They are the missing piece to each other that completes them.
I could not put this book down. What a joy to finally have their entire story and live it with them. As always, another amazing read by MJ Fields. Forever Steel will be forever in my heart.

This is the 8th book of the series. The whole thing being a spin off from the Men of Steel series. These are the next gen but they are young. In this case, Tris is just 17. Yet she is in a band and tours the world with her cousin and uncle supporting her. Trouble is her nickname because she comes with a whole lot of baggage.

First the good stuff: I love the author for naming mental health. It needs to not be shamed. People are humans first and then have the attributes of their mental health. I think the author does a great job letting the reader in on what life is like for the families and the individuals who live with their diagnosis every day. I also really liked seeing the transformation in Tris once she named what was happening to her. I could feel some of her burden rising off her shoulders.

I also really liked Matteo. He is such a kind soul. He doesn't want to be attracted to Tris but he is. He reads much older than he actually is. Regardless, he is older than Tris by a few years. I'm not sure what made her family allow her to marry him. I felt a bit like they gave up on her at some point. I loved how Matteo was with his family and his whole outlook on the world and life and love.

So.....some things I question: We have seen this story in 3 previous books. Yes, we get Tris's take on the events, but we have read this story or parts of it 3 times now. Love the writing style of this author. I would pick up anything she puts out. But I am feeling a bit cheated on the originality. It isn't an awful story. It is very poignant at times. The last couple of chapters were my favorite part.

I also was missing the Crew in this one. Patrick is with Tris and they have some conversations/yelling matches. Everyone comes in for the wedding. I didn't get the sense like the previous books, that they all had each other's backs. In high school it was maybe more of a need?? It seemed to me that they have fallen apart a bit as young adults.

Still more to come for this Crew. I can't wait to read more!

Now don't get me wrong I love this series, but when this one was labeled dark romance that's going out of my reading comfort zone a bit. Plus I wasn't sure if I was in the right head space to dive into this one after loosing my grandpa, but I shouldn't has been worried. I just gobbled this one up. We got bits and pieces of Tris and Matteo through a few previous books, but it didn't prepare me for how much I was going to like the two. I didn't have the best of impressions going in, but Tris and Matteo changed those thoughts and feelings. I really liked Matteo. I couldn't have picked anyone more perfect for Tris. He's instantly going to have you won over. Tris is so much more than the glimpses I was given. She surprised me the most, but in the best of ways. I give her major points for tackling her mental health. Mental health is so important to talk about because many battle it everyday, myself included. There was another character that surprised me and honestly I thought there was no way he could change my mind about him. You have to look so much deeper than the surface. I would recommend this one. It took me on one heck of a ride, but one I'm glad I took.

Forever Steel Crew #8

I'm all honesty, I wasn't sure I would connect with this story and specifically the characters. While I don't think Tris is too young to struggle with mental health issues, the parent in me says she's too young for some of the other events that take place in this book. That being said, when I put aside my personal feelings, I was able to take in and process this story as it unfolds. Clearly Tris has triggers and her emotions are all over the place and for whatever reason Matteo calms her monsters. It was hard to witness Tris's mood swings and I wasn't sure if she needed a hug or to be slapped. Speaking of Matteo, what a truly amazing character, unfortunately much of his time revolves around Tris and he has his own issues that could have been explored more. But I do believe he carries much of this story as we gathered more insight into who he is and his past. All in all this story was filled with angst and raw emotions, ups and downs and at the end of the day love and acceptance.

It is always interesting to read a book in which you know the ending.  If you read the other Steel books you know that Tris and Matteo have a whirl-wind romance and get married.   Marked Steel was beautifully dark.  This is the story of Tris and Matteo’s struggles and how they came out stronger for them.  Some souls are just meant to be together and in doing so they quiet the storms within.  The journey you take with these two characters is not what you normally find in a romance.  You are rooting for them to grow individually and find their own strength.  You definitely feel this throughout the story as Tris begins to understand and accept her mental health while still fighting for Matteo. Matteo also learns to accept his own health issues and continue to support Tris and encourage her to accept her colors.  In the end, they find the balance they need to be who they are and live in the light.

This is the story we have been waiting for and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We all know from the previous book that Tris has some issues that she is dealing with. Music and singing is the only thing that keeps her grounded and not wants to go crazy. The jerk who broke her is making her life a living hell and she will have to fight tooth and nail to be who she wants. What she doesn't expect is Matteo Aris and honestly neither did I. He was amazing and wonderful and I loved his character. These two feed off each other in such a positive way. MJ Fields brought mental health to the forefront in the most positive and inspirational way. I want to say so much, but I don't want to ruin this for anyone else. I will say that even though Tris and Matteo have their demons this love story is so inspiring. It's the story of strength, love, lust, heartache, and rebuilding themselves. It's about family and FOREVER STEEL.

A Journey yes a journey of heartbreak and heartwarming feelings. MJ Fields words will have you so immersed in this story that you won’t even realize the tear slipping from your eye just reading Tris & Matteo’s story.
Tris Steel is a young woman who struggles with life, but she has the most amazing family behind her at every turn but when she meets Matteo Arias in the most unlikely of places she finds herself knowing this man could be her game changer.
Matteo Arias is a man with his own troubles, when it comes to his own health and family he tries to balance it all. Meeting Tris, there is just something about her that evens out his life and together they can overcome anything.
You will feel all the emotions in this book from the very first page, and you will go along with the journey of Tris & Matteo and you will cheer them on to find that HEA that they both truly deserve.

This is my favorite MJ Fields book to date!
Technically a stand alone but I highly recommend you read the entire series to get the feel of the Steel family as a whole.
This book grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let me go until the last page. I am still thinking about it a couple days later. I needed to get my thoughts together before writing a review. The subject matter is close to me as I have a similar situation in my family.
Tris may be young in age but definitely not in experience. She has had a rough time of things and meets Matteo out of the blue. Sparks fly from the start and what follows is a beautiful love story that will leave you with all the feels. Their journey was not an easy one, but then no epic love story is.
Beautifully written and wonderful characters as always. I hope that we see them again in the future.

I've read all of the Steel books and this is my favorite. I was introduced to Tris in the other Steel books but in this book, I really was able to see her beyond her breakdowns. Tris has been kicked out of school and has become a Rock Star and he loves to kiss a stranger in to close her shows. As she leans in to kiss a fan Matteo turns her head and kisses her instead. A kiss that not only changes but saves both of their lives. As Tris works to embrace her challenges ( no spoilers) Matteo supports her on her journey. Then she has an opportunity to do the same for him. This was a story of redemption, love, friendship, and acceptance. While still bringing the passionate moments, spiteful ex drama, and the Steel Crew's wit. This book can be read as a standalone but you really get to see the depths of Tris's struggles by reading the other books.

Tris and Matteo's story is heartbreakingly beautiful, the emotions you feel are raw and jagged but then your heart fills with so much warmth.

Tris fights the monsters that plague her, you feel the devastation that she leaves behind, until her first kiss with Matteo that was at first a big f**k you to the past but he leaves her feeling and has her learning live her life in many colours and learning to control her monsters.

Matteo isn't without his own issues but the pull to Tris is strong even though he wants to leave to protect her so she doesn't hurt but together they are stronger.

As usual it was great seeing the Steel Crew throughout this beautiful journey and the unexpected twist which I never saw coming left me with my mouth open wide, but heartbreaking book proves that there is beauty even in the darkest of places.

Another amazing book from MJ 5 stars all the way 🖤

We got snipets of Tris and Matteo's story and now the long anticipated wait has finally arrived and I was not disappointed. It definitely delved into Tris's mind and we saw her side of the story, in her own words and how she dealt with her 'monsters' her mental health issues and facing her past. Matteo was every bit as awesome as I knew he was going to be, a beautiful artistic soul with lots of love to give, even after not having received any in return growing up. These two were absolutely made for one another, love transcends any language barriers and they fixed whatever each of them believed to be broken inside was. I devoured this in one sitting and it will not be the last time I read their story.

Swoon..... I honestly am having a hard time writing this review. This book brought out so many damn emotions. Hurt, heartache, shock, sympathy & more importantly LOVE. To read about a fictional character who i as a reader have known her entire life struggle through so much turmoil & pain hurts... but to realize the depths Mj went through researching & hitting the nail on the head brings me happiness... so much of Trish's & Matteo's story is about "health & mental health" but it takes us inside the darkness one who has these same demons experiences. That's why i love Mj as an author... she brings us every book, character & story as a real life experience!
As for Tris & Matteo true love can concur even the darkest of hours..#foreverSteelCrew

Life for Tris hasn’t been without its challenges but with the support of her family she perseveres. It must have been destiny that brought Matteo into her life as under ordinary circumstances their lives would never have crossed but he shows her the life she can have rather than the life she has been living.

From the first time he saw Tris he knew that she was special, and he couldn’t imagine a life without her. He will give show her that she can always count on him as he tries to deal with his own past as well.

Tris and Matteo take us on an emotional journey as not only do they try to help each other heal but they give each other the confidence and support to have the future they both deserve.

Marked Steel is book 8 in Steel Crew series by MJ Fields. This is Tris and Matteo’s story. It's quite the emotional journey of two souls who are broken who find themselves on this road together of heartbreak, pain, feels, attraction, drama, angst...oh their path takes them down the road from heartbreak to heartwarming. Broken to Dented. Unwanted to Needed. Get the tissues ready! The chemistry between Tris and Matteo is really great! I wasn’t sure if they would be a good fit and this book made me a believer. There's some twists and turns which makes for an excellent addition to the story. Loved to see previous characters pop up/in the story. Can't wait for next book in series.

My Rating: 4.5 stars ********

Following on in the next gen Steel series, we have Tris and Matteo’s story, with thankfully, more cameos from the original Steel’s ( I 💙 them all!)

This story delves into personal health issues and not just for the person themselves, but how it impacts the wider family and I think It’s amazing that MJ has taken this route, especially in the way the world has been upturned over the last year and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint.

This is truly an emotional rollercoaster read and a twist you may not see coming!

I can’t recommend MJ Fields enough, her books, even when covering difficult situations, are always heartwarming with the way this family connects - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ just isn’t enough!!!
