Lush. Evocative. Romantic. Enter the sensual world of modern day fairy tales with three novellas by USA Today bestselling author Sierra Simone.
Music Box Girl
A Twelve Dancing Princesses Story
Every night they dance. Every night he follows.
Ex-soldier private investigator Cal Dugan has been hired to follow Tamsin and her ballerinas to find out where they go at night. He didn’t count on Tamsin’s courage or her passion. He didn’t count on the way she twists him up inside.
He solves the riddle of their disappearing act, but he’ll never reveal Tamsin’s secrets, no matter the cost.
American Witch
A Princess and the Pea Story
Morgan wants to start fresh, but a mystery man at the masked ball lights her up from the inside. His hands, his touch, his scent--they're all too familiar, all too real. He’s always been her weakness, but can she deny him when every part of her is on fire for him and only him?
Red & White
A Snow-White and Rose-Red Story
All that art student Scarlett wants to do is wait out a howling snowstorm and kiss her best friend senseless, but all her careful plans fall apart the minute a near-frozen bear stumbles through the door.
Except he's not a bear—he's very much a man—and there's only one way to warm him up from the cold...
This book includes three seperate novellas that are inspired by fairytales. I assume they are characters that were from different books by the author, since I recognized the first one from the American Princess series. They are all very hot and the sex scenes are scorching. But don't expect a big plot, other than the dirty sex ;)
The first story is about a woman who got divorce and even though she's a dominant, she's looking for a partner. She attends a masquerade ball, where she's going to meet a mystery man...
The second story is about an ex soldier who's now working as a detective and follows 12 ballerinas who escape during the night. More specifically he's after the daughter of the one who hired him.
The third and final novella is about two college girls who go to a cabin to finally get together. They find a man out in the snow and take him inside. What follows makes the cabin flaming hot.
Not rating this. None of the stories were for me, and with the first one I felt like I was missing a big chunk of the story. I guess it’s maybe a short story based on a series the author wrote, so not sure if that’s why I was confused. 🤷🏽♀️
It was free, so I’m not telling anyone not to download it. You may like the stories.
there’s 3 novellas in this book and american witch was another quick and short read about morgan leffey (president ash’s half-sister from the new camelot series) and how she reconciles with her ex-husband at a masquerade ball…spicy and entertaining read! 😼
3 short, dirty, well-written novellas, with no real substance, which was exactly what I was expecting. The first novella was a bit sweeter imo, but it did feel like I was missing something. The second was all about sex, and that one was actually my least liked one. I would have liked the couple A LOT more if it didn't turn into an o*gy fest with the other ballerinas, especially because the sex between the couple was actually hotter than the o*gy. I liked the third one the most, even though I'm not a fan of FMF/FFM, but it was the most entertaining and I definitely wouldn't mind a book on that throuple🤷
The three stories in here were short and kinky and a tad filthy. I didn’t get a chance to catch too many feels but OMGoodness, the tingles…they were definitely present.
I wanted fairytale retellings, I got them. I needed well-written short stories, definitely got those. I wanted steam…got that and more, a whole lot more.
****American Witch, inspired by The Princess and the Pea. This Dom/sub story was enjoyable for me. I hear this story ties in with American Camelot series, which I haven’t read. I didn’t feel lost, but it did make me want to go and read that series. I liked watching Morgan and Lorne reconnect, and realize they could work things out. That spark of theirs never really went away.
****Music Box Girl is inspired by The Twelve Dancing Princesses and it’s oh so naughty.
I really enjoyed this one. I wasn’t familiar with this fairytale, so I had to look it up. If you’ve heard of it, then you just might enjoy this version. That is, if you don’t mind age gap, a little orgy action, and a lot of naughtiness.
Cal was so sexy. I want him to ruin my shoes.
****Red & White, based on Snow-White and Rose-Red.
Holy hot FFM & FMF! There was no wasting time when Liam awoke from being saved by two beautiful women, his angels, Snow and Scarlett. He was ready to thank them. And thank them properly he did. What a sexy, growly bear he was.
I believe this one was my favorite of the three.
If you’re looking for three, quick, erotic reads, I say give this a go.
Sierra Simone is such a poetic and eloquent writers- who can also write some kinky and smutty scenes! This collection has three short novellas- all entertaining, not too much depth given the length, and all varying degrees of that Sierra Simone erotic flair. Without more story to round out some of the smutty goodness, the stories don't have that usual emotional resonance and depth that I'm used to with Sierra, but I still enjoyed them. And, these are definitely not standard MF stories either. Of the three, I enjoyed the thirst the most- featuring a very sexy throuple.
There’s something about the way Sierra writes and how her mind works… I mean, there’s always some (taboo) themes that I’m not that into and then I read because it’s one of her books and I end up loving it.
American Witch - I’ve read it before in other book but I really liked to reread it again here.
Music Box Girl - This was really hot and kind of different to what I was expecting so what a good surprise it was.
Red & White - I already knew that Sierra is good at writing FFM scenes but this was hot as hell.
If you’re looking for some quick (and really hot 🥵) reads then this book is exactly what you need to pick up. Like I said before, I love Sierra’s writing and I love how she’s always exploring different but really good plots/relationships so I can’t wait to read the books I still have on my TBR and all her future releases.
This is actually the first erotica book I’ve read... I’m not sure if I’m quite mentally prepared enough to become a deep reader of the genre, but Sierra Simone is incredibly talented! And definitely a great person to start with, I think.
The first two stories didn’t quite work for me— mostly because they felt a little bit too plot heavy and probably would have worked better as full-length deals. The third one though... Uhm. Yeah. That one I enjoyed quite a bit. Yeah.
Anyways! A friend on Twitter gave me a brief reading list to help initiate me into SS’s books and I think I’ll follow that more closely instead of tossing myself into the deep end. Until then! This book was definitely well-written, even if two of the stories were sort of held back by their format.
Once Upon A Dream is a combination of three modern day fairytale retellings - all novella size in length. Super quick, well written and full of smut.
I cannot stress this enough - these are novella length stories. You cannot go into this expecting a full background on the characters. You get in, you get out and it worked well for me. Sometimes I think readers expect more from novellas than what they get and I don’t understand why.
𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 1 - 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝 (𝘼 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙚𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮) This was HOT 🥵 I liked the idea of Morgan attending a ball in a dress given to her by a stranger to whom she was set up with to ultimately meet at the dance! Only to find out it was someone she already knew and was left to confront her biggest internal fear of whether or not she could be both in control and be able to submit at the same time. Could she be okay with RJ being a switch? The only thing that annoyed me.. and I’m talking the only thing.. was reference to sex that felt so good she could feel it in her MITOCHONDRIA 🙄 let’s be real here. No one is having sex so damn hot that they are thinking about how they can feel it that biologically in their cells.
𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 2 - 𝘼 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝘽𝙤𝙭 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡 (𝘼 𝙏𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮) For me, this one started with a lot of promise and had me fanning myself (this story is taboo and we all know I like to read a forbidden romance story). But it turned into an ending that wasn’t for me personally. I should have expected the ending given the retelling it was from, but it just seemed ridiculous. Gimme the secret public play setting any day but being shared around and fawned over by 12 girls? Nah thanks.
𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 3 - 𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 (𝘼 𝙎𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮) HOT HOT HOT 🔥 This is your stranded in a cabin in the snow story with a big mountain man and two females who were previously realising how they felt about each other and wanting to explore those feelings as a twosome before the bear comes along. This was delicious. I mean - it’s fast paced and the ending isn’t believable but again, it’s a novella and I fell for if. Would definitely read this story as a full length book.
Nobody writes erotica like Sierra Simone. This is an amazing collection of seriously hot stories. VPs, Ballerinas & bi girls. This has something for everyone. Deliciously dirty storytelling
so I don't rate books I don't finish in completion, but I took such strong issue with the way these stories were written and I did read the latter two of the three, so I feel comfortable rating this one.
both stories suffered from a similar key issue: the steam felt very man-centred. even in a setting with 12 women, even in a f/f relationship ffs, it felt like this book and the women in the story existed to serve the man. and I despised that.
that aside, the writing was not great either. I understand they're short stories, but the buildup was practically non-existent (except for the 12 dancing princesses one, but there's a solid age gap and male saviour complex there) and just not enjoyable.
smut is for women (by women), keep p0rn-for-men out of here, please
Music Box Girl Twelve dancing ballerinas, oh my. This was a short story about Cal and Tamsin and her ballerina friends. This read was so very hot and sexy.
American Witch A wonderful retelling of The Princess & the Pea, with the kink, and dark nature of the events surrounding Morgan and Lorne. Yes, that is Morgan from the New Camelot series in a new light that might make you rethink your opinion of her. And who knew a "pea" could bring so much heat and kink to a story. Well done Sierra Simone.
Red & White Scarlett, Snow, and Liam. Snow bound in a cabin with a man that needs warming up, leads to some very sexy times. Another great short read from Sierra Simone, packing characters and their needs and wants into such a small package.
Boring. Dnf. The first story about a woman who divorced her husband bc she couldn't accept her desire to submit to him sexually, but be strong everywhere else, was so cliché. She felt like she was letting all women down. LMAO, since when do other women feel responsible for your bedroom antics? Also, this husband was the perfect man, of course, but she divorced him anyway, bc of reasons that didn't hold water and really made her seem stupid.
I appreciate Sierra’s writing but her relationship dynamics are not for me. I need a reverse-Sierra, the anti version, her foil. Will continue to clear out my backlog….upward and onwards!
American Witch was definitely my favorite out of this collection. Just a bit of angst, lots of steam, and had me wondering how many Princess and the Pea retellings there are out there.
Music Girl was enjoyable. While I enjoyed Red & Snow, it felt like it was missing something.
Overall, it was a sexy read that I picked up on a whim. It definitely puts me in the mood for more retellings!
I really love Sierra Simone’s writing. She exquisitely describes her scenes and it allows me to immerse myself in her books. I really wish the first story in this novella was a full-length novel. It was my favorite one of the three, followed by the third one; I liked the second one the least.
AMERICAN WITCH-4.5 stars Morgan is the Vice President. She is also a domme who is used to beating/dominating submissives. She was married but has been divorced for four years now. Her marriage to Lorne ended because she started to realize that she wasn’t really a domme with him. In fact, she found herself wanting to submit to him a lot and because she’s a woman in a position of power, she can’t live with that- and that’s why she divorced him. Lorne is a lawyer and is very understanding of Morgan’s needs, but she closed herself off in their relationship that caused it to end.
Morgan’s friend sets her up on a blind-date ish. They’re going to a masquerade ball and her date sent her the outfit she’s supposed to wear. As they’re on their way to the ball, she feels uncomfortable in the dress, as in she feels her bum burning. But she’s willing to test herself to date this man who is supposedly perfect for her.
At the ball, she immediately sees her ex. Oh man, the CHEMISTRY between them 🥵 🔥 is SCORCHING! I found myself missing out of their whole story- I would totally buy a full-length book on just them. As soon as they’re together, the tension between them gets thick, and scrumptious, and is incredibly sexy. He has a little surprise for her and all she has to do is be willing to submit. I WANTED MORE 😒. Lol I can tell that these characters came from a different book, but I felt in-the-loop enough where I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. I loved this short story.
MUSIC BOX GIRL Eh, this was my least favorite. Maybe 2 stars. There are two “main characters” but there are 12 ballerinas in total. Cal is a private investigator who needs to discover where these ballerinas are sneaking off to at night. They’re going to a sex club. He’s more interested in Tamsin than the rest and they do establish a “relationship” but it ended up involving the other 11 ballerinas as well. It’s basically a huge orgy between them all. There’s a “future” for the main characters but it ends so abruptly that it was an “I guess there’s a HEA” for me. This had the potential to have more development but it didn’t. It was “eh” to me.
RED & WHITE 3.5 stars: Snow and Charlotte meet a bear of a man during their getaway vacation to discover if they can do a relationship. Snow has been into Charlotte and considers herself bi. Charlotte has always been involved in poly amorous relationships. Liam is out in the cold and manages to stumble to their cabin before he gets completely exposed to the cold elements. They nurse him back to health and he helps to nurse them to become involved together. This was very hot. Again, the ending implies there will be an HEA but it’s not very detailed.
