"The biggest thing I've come to find
Is that my heart just isn't mine.
It was yours the moment that you read that book."

I'm late to the Amy Daws party, but I'm catching up. I'm going to be very honest here and tell you I really wanted to read this book. I have it on pre-order, but I wanted the ARC, and I was so bummed when I didn't get it! My workmates heard all about it, believe me.
And then I did get it, and my day got a whole of a lot better.

This is the story of Zander and Daphney, and it's sweet, heartwarming, and perfect.

"He's a footballer." I roll my eyes. "And he's annoying."
"The best ones always are."

I love Zander. He's is wonderfully clueless about British English, which led to some awesome laugh-out-loud moments for me. He's also clueless about flirting with a woman who is not immediately head-over-heels over him, which led to even funnier moments. But I love how open and how in touch with his feelings he is. He's a dangerous combination - I love alphas, but the combination of sweet and sexy always does me in!

"When she looks straight at me like that, it often takes my breath away."
Daphney... can I say I want to be her? She has a great personality, I love how she takes zero shit from anyone and stands up for herself, I love how far she's come in life even though she's had to deal with some tough stuff. She's a fighter, through and through, and I especially loved how she gave Zander a hard time and made him work for it! (And I hate people who snooze their alarms too!)

"I told you I'm like a retriever and very trainable."
"And I told you I'm a cat person."

Their banter is awesome. I loved how he kept screwing up, mixing up his words, and mucking up whenever she's around. The attraction is there, but it's not easy for them to give in to it.
Daphney is dealing with stuff from her past. Zander is dealing with his father's death and moving to a whole different country where football is taken a lot more seriously. But everything about them is deeper than it seems.

One kiss, however, changes all of it. And what a kiss! It's enough for them to think they can be neighbors with benefits without catching annoying feelings. As it turns out, that may prove dangerous. For both of them. But the game is on! And let me tell you, Zander sweeps her off her feet (no pun intended).

There are some seriously swoony moments between them, and hot moments too. There is a lot of family in this book, not only the Harrises, but also the family you choose for yourself.
I was wrapped up in all the feelings in this book, and all of it drew me in. I got pretty emotional over it too, because my heart broke for them in different ways.

"At a time I didn't know where I belonged in this world, you made me feel at home. (...) If you were there, I was home."
I think they were both afraid of what could be, afraid of the 'what if it doesn't work?'. Until they realized that it doesn't matter, and they can work through whatever it is. There's not on separate teams, and there's no game to be won. There's only them.

Yep, Zander and Daphney are pretty much perfect. And so is this book!

Thank you, Amy, for trusting me with an ARC. It really meant so much to me!

4 Operation: Shag the Slutty Footballer Stars ⭐

Zander Williams is a young, cocky American footballer who has just landed a spot in the English Premier League. With all the personal baggage loading him down, he'll be lucky not to be bench warming if he doesn't get his head in the game. Moving to London is a fresh beginning, however if the huge secret he is hiding comes to fruition, the fallout could be catastrophic, or something else completely.

Something is ridiculously sexy about having a girl next door to you who you aren’t banging and who seems to basically hate your guts.

Daphney Clarke (Ducky) has her own reasons for a new start in London. Bartending at the Old George and property managing her brother's apartment block is a way of merely subsidising her wage until her actual career takes off. From the first encounter with her new tenant/neighbour Zander, she instinctively knows he will be one naughty and annoying distraction.

“I’m actually pretty likeable once you get to know me.”

She shoots me a rueful smile. “Good for you.”

“Seriously. And if you don’t like me, I’m pretty much a golden retriever. Very trainable.” I stick my tongue out and pant like a dog.

Her adorable nose wrinkles. “I’m more of a cat person.”

There is no denying Zander is completely besotted with Daphney once he's removed his foot from his mouth. And as he unintentionally becomes a thorn in her side, Daphney will not revealing she's smitten anytime soon. When an impromptu kiss in the hallway turns out to be each other's lucky charm, what's one more step into the bedroom?

Neighbours with Benefits sounds fun and uncomplicated, but is it really when there is so much to reveal between them? For when their personal lives spill over onto the hookups, can the 'normal' girl actually be with a real life celebrity footballer?

Ducky is no jersey chaser. She’s a jersey-wearer…and those chicks are the holy grail of hot girls. I’m not mad at this realization. Not mad at all.

Although Sweeper is a spinoff from the Harris Brothers Series (which I haven't yet read) it can be read as a standalone. I love how this author effortlessly combines humour, romance and a story of substance. I adored the banter and the character portrayals. Because behind Zander's cockiness, he was quite dorky and endearing while Daphney was the perfect vulnerable ball buster. Each hiding behind a façade to protect their hearts.

Overall Opinion: Eh. I guess I’d say I was underwhelmed. I also didn’t like the h. She was just too mean to the H throughout the book and I think she needed to grovel much, much more before they reunited in this one! I’m going with a less than 3 just okay stars because while there were some enjoyable parts (like the H and the interactions with kids), this definitely didn’t wow me.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Daphne and Zander’s story. Zander gets scouted by a professional soccer team in London and leaves his grieving mother after losing his Dad. He’s not sure what he’s really doing because there is a possibility that someone tightly connected with the new team could be his real father after finding an incriminating letter of his mother’s. Daphne is just trying to get by after a disastrous breakup and she is Zander’s new building manager. There is some flirting that eventually turns into Daphne’s first casual relationship, that eventually turns into more. There is some family drama, some secrets revealed, and some sexy times…and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Daphne and Zander’s POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H (Hero) rating: 4 stars. Zander. I liked him. I appreciated his humor and loyalty. I thought he deserved better than the h tbh.

h (heroine) rating: 2 stars. Daphne. I really struggled with her. I didn’t like how bitchy she was and how she treated the H towards the end.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in a good place for the couple but with what I would call a HFN ending

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

After reading ‘Replay’ a few months ago, I knew I needed to get to Sweeper ASAP. I was so intrigued by Zander and his situation.

Zander meets Daphney his first day in London. He’s there to play on Bethnal Green’s Football team, but he has other motives for being there as well. Family. I loved seeing Daphney and Zander’s first meeting and watching them go from frenemies to lovers.

As much as I liked the romance in this one, I was so much more invested in Zander’s family drama. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen when the cat was let out of the bag, so to speak. I wasn’t disappointed. This one was emotional, sweet, fun, and steamy. The audiobook was amazing as usual. I’m glad I still have several Harris brothers books to read (I’m all out of order) because I love reading about this family!

Loved it- now I need to read them all

I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I gasped- a myriad of emotions while reading this, but I definitely fell in love with these characters.

Zander finds out after his father passes away that his father might have not really been his father; his mom wrote a letter to his maybe-birth father that was never sent out the year he was born. He’s been playing soccer all of his life, and when he’s given the opportunity to fly to Europe and play in the UK for a prominent team, he takes it- especially because his maybe-father’s there.

When he arrives, he meets Daphney, who also happens to be his landlord’s sister- and his new wall neighbor. Their first interaction had me cracking up; he tries to be suave and smooth but she just laughs because she’s feisty lol. Daphney is a musician who generally writes jingles for commercials. She’s been burned by the music industry before, more specifically, someone she trusted. She has goals in mind but is afraid to be hurt again.

In the meantime, Xander please but has the shadow of that letter written by his mom. He wants to find out the truth, and because his maybe- birthfather lives there, he will do whatever he needs to do to find out the truth about his origin. Coincidentally, Daphney’s close to his maybe-birth father’s family… so he’s willing to find ways of getting the info he needs.

Oh the chemistry🔥. Sure- Zander was a manhoar before, but he hasn’t been with anyone in a loooong time. Their first kiss was awkward (30%), but once Zander wakes up from the shock-kiss, his alphaness takes over 😅🥵. Their first time was a messy one (Daphney baked oatmeal raisin cookies for Zander since his game superstition/routine is to eat one when he wins) because of all the flour everywhere, but dang, it only made it smexier because of how desperate they were for each other. And his REDEMPTION smex was 🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵😅😅😅.

That REDEMPTION SMEXY TIME will live RENT-FREE in my head forever 💦 . His alphaness, his way of being all-about Daphney, his aggressiveness and stamina 🔥🥵 oh SWEET baby THAT IS ALL HOLY. Zander. Wow. Just wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.

Now that I’ve recovered from reliving that amazing redemption scene (I need a glass of wine), this book was amazing. There were times I was an emotional mess- going through a loss is never easy- even if it happened years before- and both Zander and Daphney share that grief. But I also laughed so much- and the swoon factor was off-the-charts sometimes.
Now I gotta read all the books before it lol! I loved it 😍!

⚠️ safety squad ⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd/omd
-there’s a scene where both MCs are trying to make the other jealous, but it only prompts them to leave have finally have smexxx
-H was a manhoar
-H overhears next door woman m@aning and thinks it’s the h. It’s not
-c@nd@ms and then none/she’s on the pill

Sweeper is a fun read. I spend my Sunday just feeling entertained by Miss Daws sense of humor about the Harris clan.
The plot is not very heavy. The characters are all lovely.

I like the banter. It was lively and cute. And funny.

2.75-3 stars

Many of the tropes & plot devices present here typically are ones that appeal to me - sports, enemies-to-lovers, neighbors/forced proximity, big family with a side of family drama, etc. Yet the manner of how it was laid out, I just couldn’t connect with Sweeper as I would’ve hoped. I didn’t hate it, but I was quite bored through the first half tbh & my interest was intermittent at best in the second half. Perhaps because in the beginning through the first half, the story seemed to veer towards a little aimless maybe. Idk. There was just something a bit amiss that kept me from connecting fully with the characters. I guess it was things like Daphney’s annoyance/dislike of Zander lacked conviction. So instead of driving the beginning of the story with enemies-to-lovers, I think it read with an undertone of being a little instaluv-y(or at least insta-in-very-much like, but pretending it’s casual lol) that I’m rather sure wasn’t supposed to be there & it undercut the feeling of progression in their romance for me. If that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️. There are also those intangibles that seal it that I just didn’t get from this one.

All that said, after looking at other reviews, I think I’m just the outlier here. Which isn’t necessarily unusual for me, so taking this with a grain of salt is probably best.

Playful and angsty

I’ll offer up the unpopular opinion on this one, because - while I liked it - I can easily identify some things that really bugged me. There's a lot to love about this, from the vulnerable hero to the banter to the sense of community. While this will technically read as a standalone, anyone who has been following the series will appreciate the interconnectivity and rich history woven into these characters. The vibe ended up being a little heavier than anticipated, though that worked for me - our hero is still reeling from the death of his father, friction with his mom, moving to a new home and a new team, AND dealing with a massive game-changer of a secret. The only bright spot in his life is the girl next door, and he's not even sure that she likes him. Their chemistry was great, and I loved the playfulness of their interactions. So there's a lot of good stuff going on.

The story follows Zander, an American soccer player who has been recruited to play overseas. It should be an amazing, exciting time in his life, but the sports star recently lost his father and learned that his mother has been hiding a secret his whole life. That means the former manhoe and carefree guy has the weight of the world on his shoulders. When Zander meets Daphney, he's immediately attracted. He'd love to have some no strings fun with the beautiful girl, but Zander seems to have lost his game around her. As the two run into each other again and again - they're neighbors, after all - Daphney finds it impossible to ignore her attraction. Zander might not be the right guy for forever, but surely they can have some fun in the meantime.

This was a solid 4-star read for me for the majority of the book, but my enjoyment had fallen by the end. It's essentially a slower burn AND THEN a friends with benefits story, so it felt like it took a long, long time before actual feelings entered the equation. Sure, we had a few scenes that seemed to advance the relationship, but then something would happen to move them decidedly back into the casual zone. And then the transition from casual to more seemed to have been summarized in a paragraph or two, so... we didn't see it. That's really disappointing. There were also a few tone deaf jokes and one scene that was a total turn-off. (Minor SPOILER) Zander hears a woman having sex next door, and - assuming it's Daphney - he gets so jealous and turned on that he needs to "release some tension" while listening to it happen. This is probably at least 100 pages into the book, so the fact that he just let it happen - and actually got incredibly turned on by the thought - should tell you about that slow emotional burn. In the end, it's smaller issues that hold me back from a higher rating. I liked the vast majority of the book, loved parts of it, and really appreciated being back in this world again.

I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to read Sweeper by Amy Daws. Zander Williams, the surprise Harris brother took me by complete surprise as I read the last few pages of Replay last year. The author did a brilliant job explaining the family dynamics and introducing new characters therefore Sweeper is a total standalone, but part of the magic for me was getting caught up with the returning characters that are so very real to me.

Sweeper totally encompasses all of my favorite things that I love about this series. It has loyalty, witty dialogue, family values and very real-life struggles and people with faults, forgiveness, and the Harris family’s unwavering support and encouragement of each other and those they meet along the way.

Zander was born and raised in Boston, and was a star soccer player in the USA. He is recruited by Bethnal Green Football Club in London and accepts their offer as he learns life changing news about his paternal father. Zander just tug at my every heartstring as he struggles with his identity as well as his decision to move across the pond to begin a career in a much more advanced league that is highly regarded around the world.

Daphney had me at hello and I loved her from the start. Loved their meet cute as neighbors and really, just every little thing about her. I admired how she was betrayed in the worst way by her ex and rose above it, holding her head high, and moving forward. Loved how she wasn’t materialistic and worked hard at several jobs to make her own dreams come true and pay off a debt. I loved her sense of humor and how uptight she was as the building manager–I could totally relate because I am the same exact way!

I loved all of the flirty banter between her and Zander. I can just imagine Zander's sexy smirk, as well as him just relaxing and hanging out. I loved how they each needed a friend and were there for each other, catching unfamiliar feelings and each other by surprise.

My cheeks hurt from smiling there were so many funny and sweet scenes, but there was also Zander’s underlying torment as to not knowing who his birth father was. His dad, the man who raised him, had passed the year before and it was heartbreaking to read how close they were. It was also emotional to read about his mom’s depressive state, and his anger over the secret she has been keeping for his entire life. You felt his pain on the pitch watching what could be his brothers and father and how he was conflicted over what to do. It all unfolds so organically and you will be there right there with them through it all because Amy Daws is such a gifted storyteller.

Amy’s stories always draw me in and I actually block out a five-hour window so I can read straight through. I loved being part of their “sporty” world and learning all of the phrases used by the Brits, and being right there with them in their favorite restaurant and also on the pitch. She really knows her European football and the tension is so palpable while they are practicing or playing. The excitement is real, and reading it makes me want to go there in person and watch a game!

There is lots of angst and drama in Sweeper as well as lots of laughs and tears. Loads of sexy times as Daphney and Zander have so much passion! They steam up the sheets and take their friends with benefits to a whole new level. Their chemistry is insane and I love how much she trusts him, lets down her guard, and lets him in. That is until she learns of his purpose for being in London and can trust him no more. Oh Zander, what have you done?

This book is filled with so much character growth, and not just our hero and heroine, but for Vaughn, his father, his new half-siblings and their spouses, his new teammates, and especially, his mother. People are human and I love how Daphne and Zander’s relationship progressed into something beautiful and real, and how they were able to work through it. I admired how even though she was hurt, she had grace and empathy and the support of her extended family who led by example. Daphne was so classy and selfless and so deserving of love.

The ending of Sweeper was all I hoped it would be, and I can truly say that I loved every page and it now my favorite in the fabulous series! If you've never read Amy before, you can start with Sweeper then go to the beginning and read Strength, Challenge, Endurance, Keeper, Surrender, Dominate, Payback, Blindsided, and then Replay.

4 Trying To Figure It All Out Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free-A Quick Review
This was a surprise book for our author and the fans of The Harris Brothers Series. It happened and I am glad it did yet it also brought some serious angst in how to deal with the main questions and actions of many of the characters.

Zander Williams was living his best life with a career in American Soccer and a solid family backing his actions.
His father from the start was his biggest fan and was always there to cheer him on. His mom loved him and though she wasn't the same type of fan, like his dad, she did give him a tradition of oatmeal raisin cookies to enjoy and cherish after a winning game.

And then the unthinkable happened, Zander's dad died in a crash, and through dealing with all of the necessary arrangements, he stumbles on information that will impact everything going forward. It causes him to question everything, make changes in where he is playing, and he ends up playing in one of the top London Football clubs.

This move puts him right next to Daphney Clarke, his neighbor, the pub waitress/barkeep, the manager of the building they live in, and a talented musician who has no interest in "Getting Together" with Zander. They may share a wall separating them from each other but Daphney has her own personal walls built to protect her from the past romantic mistakes she made. No amount of charm, sexiness, or smiles is going to get her to concede.

Zander is definitely interested in Dapheny but he also has other major things on his mind too. He is living in a place where he has no support system like he use to, he needs to get his head in the game so he doesn't blow this huge career opportunity, and he also has serious emotional baggage that is impacting his head and playing. Not good.

This tale has so much going for it; it has a new friendship Zander makes with the other fish out of water American players, he has his friendship romance with Ducky (Zander's nickname for Dapheny), and his figuring out where he fits with the team and Harris Clan.

I love Amy Daws's writing and how she frames her stories. I was a little concerned with this one though and felt serious angst re all that was happening with Zander and his family and relationships. I thought Duckie was smart, sassy, and fun, and with Zander a good match.

*ALC received from Audibly Addicted in exchange for my honest review. *

This was my first Amy Daws novel and I immediately fell in love with the family she created with the Harris's as well as the Bethnal Green Football Club. Truly I can't believe that I had never heard of this author until this book.

Zander is from Boston and has always had a wonderful life until he gets the shocking call that his father has passed away. Here is a 25-year-old man learning to live with the loss of the one man who was a constant in his life. Things drastically change for Zander when he finds a letter that leaves him with more questions about his biological father, a father he knew nothing about. Now, he is on his way to London to play Soccer and to meet the family who knows nothing about him.

“Ducky is no jersey chaser. She’s a jersey-wearer…and those chicks are the holy grail of hot girls. I’m not mad at this realization. Not mad at all.”

Daphney had her heart broken by a man she loved and now she has built a wall up around men. When the arrogant footballer from America moves in next door Daphney is at her wits about him but when her friend convinces her to try out a friends with benefits situation, she goes against what she knows about herself and starts to have a little fun with Zander. Afterall, you can't ever settle down with a footballer.

Zander starts to learn more about the family he has in London, he gets to spend his nights with Daphney but he still feels as if his world is going to crumble down upon him. When Daphney hears a conversation between him and his friends his world finally does implode, and the only way out is through. Will Zander be able to fix things with the girl he unexpectedly fell in love with?

This was a full cast of wonderful narrators with Teddy Hamilton as Zander and Faye Adele as Daphney. Teddy could read me a car manual and I would listen to it, but this was my first Faye Adele narration and I was insanely impressed. The different British accents she was able to pull over really impressed me. With Stella Hunter and Will Watt rounding out this wonderful cast of narrators it is sure to be a perfect listen that will give you all the feels.

While Sweeper had some very moments for every character involved it was very much a sweet feel-good romance about two people falling in love just when they needed it.

I’m in the minority, but I was very much underwhelmed by this story. I liked both MC’s individually, but there was something off with them as a couple. Maybe it was the lies? I kept putting this book down to read anything else. The plot wandered around, slowly looking for a point.

The obligatory drama at the end was so silly.

Sweeper is Amy Daws at her best, and I was really swept away with my love for this story. This story is chock full of all that I love about this series- the family, nuanced characters, personal growth, and the just right balance of heart, humor, and heat. Zander and Daphney were charming, and I simply adored their story.

Zander is a US soccer star, recruited to the epic Bethnal Green Football club, all while also learning the surprise of his parentage. Transplanted to London, he has a delightful meet cute with neighbor Daphney- they become friends and have this amazing connection, but Zander is still working through and figuring out a lot- and while Daphney initially seems like a great neighbors with benefits situation, real feelings come to play- and sparks fly.

Zander is so easy to fall in love with- I loved the complexity Amy brought to his story as his grapples with the earth shattering news that really causes him to grapple with everything he thought to be true about himself- and really challenging existential place to be when you’re also uprooting your entire life, pursuing your professional dreams, and moving to a whole new country. I found myself so easily falling for him. Of course, he’s dealing with some heavy stuff, but he also had me chuckling with his fish out of water type moments- both being a US transplant and him being so unfamiliar with having to actually pursue a girl. He’s sweet and sexy and so charming- SWOON. And Daphney is what I love most about Amy Daws heroines- she’s relatable, likable, incredibly endearing and admirable all at once. She’s had a painful relationship past, but she’s resilient and strong. She’s a hard worker and focused but also caring and kind- and she’s got a great sense of humor- especially when it comes razzing Zander.

Their chemistry is just delectable - so much witty banter, so many humorous moments, and some real heart felt ones too. We have just the right dash of angst, a little push-pull, but as always, the romance is mostly sweet and fun. The kind of butterfly inducing romance that will sweep you away in its charm and sincerity. You’ll swoon, you’ll laugh, you might even get a bit misty. And to top it all off, we’ve got the favorite Harris family characters swirling around providing that just-in-time touch to the plot. This entire series has such a beautiful family focus, but given Zander’s arc, the family theme shines even more brightly. Definitely a favorite in the series- and another sweet reprieve from the always swoon-inducing Amy Daws.

*4 Stars*

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

I was very keen to see where this book would go - if you’re a fan of the Harris Brothers and their world and have read all of the previous books, you will know why!

At first I wasn’t too sure what I thought about Zander. He seemed like such a cocky and arrogant American. Took me a little to warm up to him. I immediately liked Daphney and I thought their interactions were interesting.

I really liked getting to see these two get to know each other and see where things would end up going with them, however I have a huge frustration that one of the main really big issues in this book took way too long in my opinion to be discussed properly. There were little hints here and there but they weren’t addressed properly to me. I thought given certain comments/descriptions in the book, that it would’ve been easier/more obvious really early on. I felt there needed to be more balance between the two big things going on this book. This is the main thing that let it down a bit for me.

I really liked seeing all the Harris family of course, and I loved that we got heaps more of my fave Baby Booker. Gah! This is such a great world and it’s always fun to come back to and see what’s next for the gang and all their friends.

The last part of this book really was the most enjoyable for me - there were some emotional parts and just some really lovely things happening at the end that helped round things out. Lots of great character development and I do love Zander and Daphney together. Definitely sped through this one and recommend if you’re a fan of this world.

I didn’t think I could love an Amy Daws book more, and then she writes Sweeper 💚

I love the Harris family, so I’ve been waiting all summer for Zander’s book and it did not disappoint! He was so beautifully written that you can’t help but fall in love with this footballer! He was so complex with everything he’s going through and I was in tears during this book because he just broke my heart!

And Daphney was the PERFECT woman for him! It takes a strong woman to put him in his place and their banter and chemistry just leapt off the page! These two together are *chef’s kiss* perfection! I was swooning and smiling and falling in love with these two!

I loved seeing all our favorite Harris family characters from this series and them guiding Zander and Daphney…I loved it so damn much!

I could not have loved this book more and will be in a serious book hangover! If you love Amy’s books and the Harris family, this book is a must read, and a top five favorite 💚⚽️ PERFECTION!

“I told you I’m like a retriever and very trainable.” “And I told you I’m a cat person.”

Pretty nice read.I enjoyed the football aspect of it and the found family trope and feels. The writing style was good too and the banter at times was especially funny :)⚽️🏟️

I love me some Harris Brothers and this secret Brother is young, cocky, and sweet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just like all of the books in this series, 𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗥 has tons of big-family vibes, some shocking secrets, lots of feels, and serious steam.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Zander is a fresh, new, AMERICAN brother who is dealing with a family crisis as best he can. He has great moments of internal reflection as we watch his struggle. I liked him, even when his decisions made me crazy. Daphney is a kick ass female lead. I loved her. She is strong and capable and not her for Zander's ridiculous pick-up lines. She puts him in his place constantly, whioch is a joy to read.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This series has been a little hit-or-miss with me (although I recommend the series overall) and 𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗥 is in the middle of the pack. There is epic chemistry between the leads, but also a few moments of problematic behavior and jokes (this is a recurring problem for me in the series). The men in these books can read very assholey/misogynistic at times and there were bits of that in this book as well.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My biggest issue with this book was its total fail at being a "stand-alone" as it is billed. During just ONE chapter we meet between 24-26 characters (the extended Harris family clan and their kids). It was way too much. I have READ every book in this series and it was still way too much. I cannot imagine someone picking this up as a standalone and not being completely lost. I always wish authors would focus on just one or two couples from pervious books for interaction in a stand-alone. Even if the entire clan is at the same dinner, the reader need not meet every single one.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗥 will be a must-read for fans of this series, but if you haven't read the Harris Brothers books AND the other adjacent books, you will need to read all the others first or pass on reading this book.

RATING:⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
STEAM LEVEL: Rated R
TRIGGERS: Unknown paternity, recent death of parent, past death of sibling
FEELS-O-METER: 3/5 - So many feels you might tear up a little.

Oh my poor little heart!!!
This story has everything! If you are a fan of the Harris brothers then I’m sure you will be desperate to meet their secret brother, I know I was eager to get the details and background on this surprising turn of events…. equally if you haven’t followed any of these stories I would strongly advise that you get started as this family is just fab.

My heart broke for Zander in so many places during this story… the friend/hate relationship he strikes up with Daphney is so endearing and you can almost feel her eyes roll with exasperation at his antics and Americanisms!!
But then as we get to know them more I had proper tears….heartbreakingly real emotion as the true talent of this author shone through…from her light family touch, bromance humour, family shenanigans and framily connections I was totally wishing I was the secret sister!!
Thank you once again Ms Daws for another wonderful visit to Bethnal Green… can’t wait for whatever treat you have in store for us next.

shoutout to my only 1* read of the year!!!

maybe i’m just feeling grumpy??? but there isn’t a single thing i didn’t actively dislike about this book. at first, i actually like zander and his whole biological father plot—this was resting at a solid 3* for probably the first third. but as it went on i just couldn’t get past the bad writing and the constant underlying misogyny and in the end i’m unimpressed, to say the least.

Oh my heavens I couldn't wait to get my paws on Sweeper. If you have read the Harris Brothers saga then prepare yourself because guess what......their may be a secret brother! I know I couldn't believe it myself but let us introduce Zander Williams. Handsome, cocky, a talented footballer but also sensitive and new to the famous London league. He knows football but this new job, new people and unfamiliar surroundings are taking off kilter now add in his new neighbor Daphney Clarke and he might be more off his game than he thought.
Daphney is a woman of many talents. Waitress extraordinaire, building super, jingle master and now she must show the new guy around. Her first impression is yes he is easy on the eyes but really could his pick up lines be any worse but even though they can't see eye to eye the tension between them begins to grow.
You know what they say there is a fine line between love and hate. Maybe they just need to scratch that itch and it will ease that savage beasts or not! This is not going to easy but it will be so worth it!
I loved watching Zander make his way in the new league, find his place, discover the secrets that have been hidden and fall into the love known as the Harris clan!
Get ready for the Harris family because they are back and they with Zander and Daphney are going to steal your heart!

Sweeper swept me off my feet!

Being back in the Harris brothers world makes me so happy!! This book gives me all the feels! Zander and Daphney are heart-warming, hot, and humorous.

Zander Williams was a big fish in a small pond in the US. He's got his call to the big pond and he isn't quite taking to things in the UK like he thought.
~He's not really dealt with his father's death.
~His mother isn't completely on board with his decision to play for Bethnal Green F.C..
~He isn't feeling altogether welcome when he arrives in London (both at home and on the pitch).
He is feeling like a fish out of water. BUT he has met a woman he can't get out of his mind, despite their awkward meeting.

Daphney Clarke is Xander's new obsession. She's his neighbor, landlord (or basically her brother Hayden's representative as on site management.). She is a songwriter but some past issues have shaken her faith in herself. She is Harris adjacent since she is Vi's sister in law. She has no time for a cocky footballer from the States. Especially one who has such bad game and gave her the nickname Ducky.

These two start out like oil and water but as both adjust to changes in their lives, start to find they can't seem to stay away from one another.

Daphney helps Zander adjust to life in the UK. And Zander helps Daphney relax the guard she has around herself.

Zander starts at Bethnal with 2 other Americans and they become his closest buddies. They become his confidantes because he has a secret and it is seriously messing with his head and heart.

Daphney has a best friend named Phoebe who is determined to get her out of her comfort zone. And boy, does she go outside of it!

Of course, we get to see our beloved Harrises: Booker, Tanner, Gareth, Camden, Vi, and Vaughn as well as the extended family and friends. Both because of football and Daphney.

Zander is sweet but he is also confident. At the same time he is kind of awkward. It's pretty charming.

Daphney is independent. Speaks her mind...for the most part. And has a huge heart.

Their journey has plenty of twists and turns with a pothole or two but in the end, you will be smiling. Maybe with a tear or two.

I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I’m still suffering from a book hangover after reading Kulti by Mariana Zapata so I started looking for another soccer romance. This book was just too immature for me….don’t get me wrong I did like the H and h…. But it just didn’t do it for me. There wasn’t the depth of character development I was looking for. If I skim it’s an automatic drop to 3 stars, and I did quite a bit of skimming. And the need to make sure all the kisses in the beginning were consensual is so juvenile…. Maybe I read to many dark romances and bodice rippers but some of that dialogue was plain silly. Anyway I read it fast because I was invested enough to find out what happened with the love story…I really didn’t care about all the paternity/DNA collecting and testing— that was just plain boring. I might try another of the authors books but I might not.

Armed with a certain piece of information, Zander's in England about to embark on a football (soccer) career, when he sees the most gorgeous woman he's ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. Too bad for him his usual charm doesn't work on her. Luckily, though, she ends up being his new neighbor.

Daphney's not about to fall for the would be charms her new bumbling American neighbor keeps trying to use on her. But her body isn't on the same page as her mind and she's weakening. Can she keep her heart intact around him? Is he hanging around her while nursing a hidden agenda?

I LOVE Zander and Daphney! Lots of snarky, witty banter not doing a very good job of hiding the insane amount of sexual tension between them. The flirting, the delicious scenes, and the heart and feels when Zander and Daphney open up to each other. This is a first class sports romance.

(audiobook) After the perfection that was Replay, I was excited to discover a new standalone story set in the same world. Especially since the main character, Zander, was discovered at the end of Replay. And the author mostly delivers.

My main complain is about the kind of instalove Daphney and Zander feels for each other. Okay, maybe not instant since Daphney has little good to say about Zander for a long time. But once they decide to go with their attraction, love is just around the corner.

The attraction was undeniable, and it resulted in very sexy scenes. To be honest, there was also a strong connection once they give it a try. Affection, support, they gave each other their all, and it wasn’t long before they labelled their relationship as more than neighbors with benefits.

Their love story isn’t the sole focus of this book. Daphney and Zander both have to follow their own journey, not one easier than the other. Daphney has to learn to trust again, in herself and in others, while Zander is on a path of self-discovery–he isn’t sure of who he is anymore since he learned a secret about his lineage. They help each other out through all of that.

As a character, I loved Zander. He wasn’t perfect–loss of control, childish behavior at times–but I loved that, once he’s in touch with his feelings, he isn’t afraid to show them, through tears and laughter both.

The whole Harris clan is back, and Zander’s interactions with the family were interesting, especially with Vaughn and Booker. I don’t want to give away too much about the story, but it’s a central point of the book.

In audio, it’s a really good book. The main narrators, aside from Daphney and Zander, respectively play the English female characters and the American male characters. To help them, two more narrators give their voice to Zander’s mother, and the Harris male characters. The four of them are equally talented, and both emotions and humor are done well.

Quickie

- Series: standalone (but set in the Harris brothers world)
- Hashtags: #sports romance #soccer #friends with benefits #neighbors #secret brother
- Triggers: N/A
- Main couple: Daphney Clarke & Zander Williams
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + the multicast with American and English accents, perfect!
- – I felt that Daphney was a bit too demanding

Oh my, where do I start? When Amy Daws left us with that jaw dropping tidbit from “Replay”, I was shocked. “Sweeper” has lived up to and exceeded my expectations. And dare I say, her best work to date. As someone who is a huge fan of Amy Daws, I do not say this lightly. With every book she adds to the “Harris Brothers” world, I get even more involved and feel like I’m right there with them in Chigwell, having Sunday tea with them.

Zander Williams has arrived in London to play football with Bethnal Green FC. When he’s shown to his new flat, he meets Daphney. He’s instantly taken with her but his flirty, soccer boy ways are not intriguing to her at all. Zander, however, has a secret no one knows about. It’s something that could make or break him if it were to ever get out.

I was blown away by this story and all the events that happened. From the very first chapter, when we meet Zander and to the very last, I could not stop reading. I laughed through so much of this book, it has all the classic Harris banter magic. And I also found myself crying more than once during the story. The emotions were so strong in this book, I couldn’t help myself. Mac has always been my number one guy in the Harris world but I think Zander has just bumped him down to number 2. And Daphney? She’s a British fireball who is no nonsense and was the right woman to check and put Zander in the place he needed to be in. I loved seeing her vulnerable side once she let the walls she built around herself be broken down.

I cannot wait for the audiobook version of the story to be released. With Teddy Hamilton, Faye Adele, Will Watt and Stella Hunter; it’s going to make this story even more special to me.

Amy Daws is the ultimate in steamy sports romance! She caught me with her book, Blindsided, and has since continued to reel me into her amazing footballer world since.

Sweeper brings us another American into the mix, and does not disappoint with the spicy sexual chemistry between Zander and Daphney. When Zander moves to England to compete in the big leagues, he gets set up in a building that Daphney manages, and just so happens to share a paper thin wall with her. There is an instant attraction, but neither is looking for a relationship, so they enter into a casual neighbors with benefits kind of arrangement.

Amy never stops with just the amazing steam though, and this book is no exception. There is also mystery surrounding Zander’s parentage, trying to fit in in a country that doesn’t always share a common language, and the rawness of having recently lost a parent.

Sweeper is set in the amazing world of the Harris family dynasty, but is easily read as a stand-alone. Of course, once you read this one, you’ll definitely want to be going back to read about each of the Harris family members, and their friends. They are all five star reads for me! Honestly can’t say enough about how much I love each and everyone of the books Amy writes!

Another awesome installment in a series that I am always begging for more from! Thanks so much to Amy for providing me an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved Sweeper by Amy Daws. Just loved it. Zander and Daphney stole my heart. Just when Zander’s life is torn apart by tragedy, he is thrown an unexpected twist. Now the American soccer player is heading to the Premier League in Europe with more than sports on his mind. Out of sorts, he meets Daphney, the local waitress, building manager and next-door neighbor and is immediately enthralled by her. Daphney moved to London for a fresh start after a bad break up. She is smart, witty, and delightful. They are both amazing characters that carry past baggage that weighs heavily on them. I loved their frenemies to lovers beginnings and their back-and-forth banter. She knows Zander is the last type of man she needs right now, but the chemistry between them sizzles. What happens when secrets and feelings come to life? Can they be together or will everything fall apart? An absolutely amazing read I loved and highly recommend.

Happy reading!
