Bitter is my second read from the pen of T.L. Quinn and it won't be the last.
I totally adored Room 452 by the same author, and whilst this doesn't quite hit the heady heights of that read for me (okay, okay, it's because I am a total sucker for enemies-to-lovers and office romance tropes), if you are looking for a steamy, friends-to-lovers read with a big hit of forbidden relationship spice, then this is totally the one for you 😈.

🌶Female MC coming into her own sexuality.
🌶Steamy AF.

The state of Wren and Jake's marriage is on the rocks. He's moved out and was a habitual cheater.
However, it appeared like the spark was starting to dim before Wren even found out.
Then a tragic accident happened where Jake lost his life. Their families were not aware of their separation Making her have to pretend to be this grieving widow.
In comes Reed to help her along financially since Jake didn't have life insurance or a huge savings.
The push and pul between them was intense. They had guilty feelings surrounding their pull to each other. What would everyone think? Would they be judged?
I'm happy at the end, they put themselves and their feelings before others opinions and lived life on their terms.

I was honor reading this arc book from T.L. Quinn. I was totally blow away. I couldn’t put it down I never read a book so quick. It was well write with the characters of this story. Your emotional’s will screw up on this book. This the begging it start sad at bat you want to cry. And then all the sudden you are piss off laughing your self off and the romance wowow 🥵🥵🥵🥵was very hot. I think after this book I really neeeded a very cold shower 🚿 🤣.
Wren was in engaged and broke it off. And then I’m a year she married Jack. But their marriage was Going apart. He move out when Wren found out by Reed spilling the beans beans and his brother Jack cheated on her horribly.
Reed came into Wren life . To help her Financial since Jack didn’t have a life insurance. Their was no why she could live in her home. They set some rules of their living together.
Omg the push and pull between them was very intense. And the texting I love it. Wren started showing more of herself.

My first book by this author and it is a sexy forbidden romance. The premise of the storyline was good and well executed. After her husband dies Wren is kind of floundering unsure what to do next so in steps her brother in law Reed to take control. He moves in to give much needed financial support as she had been left penniless.
Some might not like that Reed thinks he needs to do this but Wren had let Jake take that role before his death and she really didn't know what to do. What I liked was that Reed tried to be encouraging showing her that she was capable of much more than she imagined. From the start there is an undercurrent of tension Reed has real anger towards his brother that he takes out on Wren which will make him unlikeable at first. I loved those first moments when the tension between exploded in desire that neither are really sure they want to explore. I liked both sides of Reed the dominant lover and the caring supportive partner. Look out for those angry f**** so hot 🔥
This is a slow burn romance done well with all those lingering looks and not so innocent touches that I look for in this genre. If you like spicy and sexy with some drama along the way you will enjoy this book.

T. L. Quinn writes a forbidden romance book.
We meet Wren, the recently single woman and left reeling from her ex-husband's mess he left her with. She takes in her ex-husband's brother, so he can keep her company and help around the house.
They've always been good friends, however the lines become blurred as time goes on.
This was a good story which I read in one setting. Wren had me laughing so hard in places, and Reeds reactions made my cheeks hurt.
If you like a Spicy, forbidden Romcom, this is for you.

I vacillated a lot with this rating. Overall I really liked it and definitely recommend it but it wasn’t a 5 star read.
Coincidentally this was the second book in a row I read where the FMC is a widow to a secretly cheating husband. However in this book, that wasn’t used a reason to keep her from finding her HEA so I liked it so much more.
This book was short in pages yet it didn’t feel rushed.
At first I didn’t think the relationship between Reed and Wren was developed enough and the writing felt a little choppy but as the book went on I did start to feel the connection and loved it. The sexual tension was 🔥🔥 and as the story unfolded I fell more and more in love with Reed.
I liked that there wasn’t a third act breakup despite the forbidden aspect of the relationship.
This book has major jealous- no one else can touch her- vibes and I loved it.
And it went both ways. I mean, this scene after they hook up on the laundry room while at a family wedding where Reed brought a date 🥵

Wren, Wren, Wren. My heart bleeds for you - Jake the snake... he can rot in hell. He made me feel like shit, I can't even imagine how you felt.
Until Reed comes along, and I felt everything you felt ;)
Wren is in a pickle, no one knows her cheating husband was doing just that, and after his tragic death, Wren seeks comfort in Reed, who *swoon* is just beautiful. The pull between these two was just amazing, the stolen kisses, the not-so-subtle death stares and mistaken sessions - I was all for it. It just made me love them both even more. I love the affection and adoration Reed had for Wren, something Jake lacked (clearly), and it made him the good guy in my eyes.
Written impeccably, and character and plot development on point, it was a nice quick read, and I was satisfied with where the book ended. I think maybe I would have liked a bit more depth with the main characters, like, more of a description of Wren and her family, but I got the idea in the end.
Very well done, Ms Quinn, loved loved loved.

I absolutely fell head over heels for Reed...he's behind dreamy and the epitome of a knight in shining armor. I'm very glad that the heroine grew a set of Lady bits and started standing up for herself and taking what she wanted! Great read, read in one sitting!

Such a sexy, steamy, dirty and kinda funny story. Well.. T.L. Quinn knows how to write the perfect book that will keep you hooked from the first page, till the last.
Wren is a woman that life wasn't easy on her. The opposite I would say. Relationships were not successful for her because something was missing. It was either the passion, or the mutual interest.
When she finally married she realized that her wedding was a fiasco because of her husband's cheating behavior. After his death, her feelings were mixed. Was she sad about his death? Was she angry? Had she forgiven him?
What was certain is that she wanted to be left alone. Something that...Reed, her brother-in-law, wasn't going to do.
Reed and Wren had to stay under the same roof after her husband's death because Reed wanted to help her. Well..this brought them close. Like REALLY REALLY close.
What started with i'm-your-brother-
In-law-and-I'm-here-to-help-you progressed to a very intense attraction.
They were both so jealous of each other. They wanted to fuck each other but no one would admit it. Especially Reed. He felt so guilty about his feelings towards his brother's widow.
Again..it didn't stop him from sexting with her quite frequently actually while he tried to maintain his distance..or doing dirty and sexy things with her in general 😈
I LOVED the fast burn pace. I like my books dirty, explicit and steamy and this book ticked all the boxes. The characters were likeable and personally, I have an issue with female characters usually because I don't easily like them, but this time I had no such problem.
The dialogues were smart and this gave the characters a funny side that made the book even more enjoyable. I loved the -Do it anyways- thing with Reed..Lol 😜
This is a VERY HOT read that will satisfy anyone who is in the mood for something sexy.

T.L. Quinn did it again! Bitter is the second book I read from her and I freakin’ LOVE it. This book is an absolute page-turner, I devoured this bad boy in one sitting. It has some of my favourite tropes, friends to lovers, forced proximity and forbidden romance. The story is written from Wren's POV and we get to hear from Reed at the end.
Wren had a bad breakup with her fiance Dan before she met Jake. He took very good care of her and soon, they were engaged and married. Things started to go downhill after a while and she found out about his affairs just months before he died. With his money tied up in the business, she needed to figure out a way to keep things afloat. Luckily, her brother-in-law Reed came to her rescue and he moved in with her.
Reed always has Wren’s back. What I love most about him is how caring, gentle and patient he is with Wren. All he wants is for her to be happy again. Not only does he support her financially, he also helps her stand on her own two feet by building a career she is passionate about 🤧

I was lucky enough to get chosen to be a part of an ARC team for T.L. Quinn's upcoming book Matched, but hadn't read the first in the series. I'm a particular type of reader and like to go into a series reading everything that came before the new release. I don't always get to do that, but I made sure to download Bitter and devoured it in 24 hours!
One trope that I've recently come across is the dead husband's brother storyline and while I haven't read many, not all can do a great job creating a story the reader gets lost in. T.L. Quinn knocked this one out! I absolutely fell in love with Reed and LOVED Wren's growth.
While it is somewhat taboo to end up with your recently deceased husband's black sheep brother, the circumstances prior to and after his death made it just forbidden enough to be sexy, but not so taboo that it's cringeworthy. Reed is absolutely the perfect match for Wren. He supported her throughout and even pushed her out of her comfort zone when she wasn't sure of herself. Such a great relationship with give and take from both parties.
Now, the sex scenes.... hot mama! T.L. Quinn knows how to write some steamy scenes and man Wren had an inner freak that was just waiting to be let out, well done, Reed! At this point, I'm not sure how any man from T.L.'s series can top Reed, but let's go! Jump on this amazing, short, sexy read! I loved it and am so excited for Matched.

Wren wants to support her while she is struggling financially but is eaten up with the guilt of his attraction to his brother's wife.
The chemistry between these two is off the charts. They are friends, they are lovers and they are perfect for one another. This is a gorgeously steamy book with some dirty talking and some dominance vibes too. But at the same time it really broke my heart how they each had to come to terms with their guilt and moving on. Wren has to learn to be strong for herself and Reed is her partner in helping her move forward rather than her reliance on him to do everything for her. Wren really grows and comes in to her own identity and desirability through the book and her HEA is emotional and well deserved.

This is my second book by T.L. Quinn, and I’m ready to read the second in the series. Bitter is about Wren, a young wife betrayed by her cheating, domineering husband, and overnight finds herself a widow. Reed, the sleazeball’s brother and his polar opposite, is forever in love with Wren, and he knocks at her door to help her with the mortgage and set a path for her future, but his plans don't go as he planned when the friendship lines between them blurs.
Wren is a hot, bitter mess, trying to pull her life back together, but she’s also a determined person, and she takes chances even though fear floods her mind and heart. Reed is a sweetheart torn between his love for his sister-in-law and the loyalty to his late brother. Well she did it again.. I devoured this book in one sitting. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Seriously SO SO GOOD!!
This book did not disappoint!!There were so many scenes in this book that I have read over and over. Seriously toe curling...YES :P. God this book has it all!! The chemistry between these two was off the charts HOT!!
Wren has had nothing but disappointments with her previous relationship. When Wren met Jake she felt alive again. But things aren't always as they seem...
After Jake cheated...she was angry for where her life has taken her...then when Jake died she was forced to be the grieving wife when all she was feeling was hurt and angry for Jake leaving her with nothing.
In comes..Reed...GOD this man made me swoon. I absolutely loved him. He moves in with Wren to help get back on her feet...But as lines blur ... Forbidden never sounded so good.
This book is NOT to be missed. I am seriously on edge waiting for what story she will bless us with next. Absolutely amazing!!

Bitter is book 1 in the Bitter Series. Bitter asks the question, what if you married the wrong brother and when life goes to sh*t can you find the one meant for you?
Wren finds out that her husband, also Reed’s brother hasn’t been faithful. Tragedy strikes, but no knows the true status of their relationship and Wren is forced to play the grieving widow. Reed shows up and says he’s there to look after her after the funeral.
Wren and Reed fight their attraction to each other despite the strong pull. There is a lot circling them with family issues, the truth about Wren’s marriage, and their history.
I wanted more depth from Wren and Reed and I think the lack of dialogue between the two made the flow difficult. Reed is a big fan of the F word and not much else in the beginning 🤣. It’s not until the last 25% the dialogue gets good. I think a lot is because they’re fighting their attraction, while also giving in.
In the end, boundaries are created and Wren and Reed allow themselves their HEA.

Whoooo…TL Quinn serves in this book! The slow burn and angst she creates from the very first chapter are just spectacular! Her ability to make the build up just as good as the follow through is the best! The spice is at an all time high in this book! These two characters are so destined to crash into each other. And the plot is so unique!
Wren is caught in a difficult place in her life. She is mad at her now dead husband because he wasn’t faithful but no one knows the truth…except her brother in law who outed him! Reed is trying to do the right thing and support her through this terrible time but it is getting harder to hide his true feelings! With forced proximity they are bound to fall into one another. The question is…will they crash and burn?
I loved every aspect of this love story! The funny moments between them are just as special as the steam they deliver! And let me tell you, they deliver!

I loved this book! I read it in one day. It’s a taboo dead cheating husband’s brother romance. I loved the push and pull between the main characters and how the story unfolds. I loved both main characters, especially Reed. I also liked that despite what the FMC went through, the author didn’t portray her as someone super weak to make her character development this huge obvious arc. It just naturally happens and suddenly you realize how she changed and found herself again.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I have to say that I really like the writing style. It isn’t overly wordy. There’s isn’t a bunch of extra filler. She focuses on the relationship between the two main characters and the factors that influence that relationship. The story moves quickly but also doesn’t feel rushed. I usually like dual POV, but I didn’t miss it when reading this book. Oh. And the spice is perfect!

Right away, Wren is a character that you want to see succeed. You want so much more than the hand she was dealt. She wasn't able to blossom as she was only pushed down in her marriage, made to believe she was the weaker one, but thankfully she is getting her second chance...

Here we have Wren who after finding out her husband was cheating on her with half the town and dumping his ass, became widowed. Support and understanding come in the shape of Reid, her ex-brother-in-law, I guess you would say. And from there the story goes.
I thought this book was good even though there were moments that I was not entirely certain of.
This story was unnecessarily long, the author didn't emphasize grief enough as to having the story round around it so much when if we are honest the story itself was about something else entirely.
Even though the characters were interesting and carried the storyline really well, there were just some character traits put there and I just couldn't make myself understand them or like them regardless of the situation.
Overall, this was a very steamy, very fun story with compelling characters and a good time.

Wren and Reed are a hot mess. I loved both characters in this fiery and fierce story. Wren, recently widowed by her adulterous, slimeball husband, is a stubborn, sarcastic woman, which is why I adored her. Unfortunately, she's also broke and struggling with the mortgage when his brother shows up, claiming he promised his brother that he would take care of her should anything happen.
The storyline was believable, humorous at times, and above all, riddled with emotion.
The steamy scenes were great, and the struggle these two felt and how hard they battled their morals of being together were gripping. I even laughed aloud at their banter which doesn't usually happen when I read.
It was a sweet quick read with a HEA and the perfect amount of heat. I'll be starting some of this author's other books soon! Five easy stars here.

This book was HOT HOT HOT!! At the beginning of the book, Wren learns that her husband has been having multiple affairs throughout their marriage and she kicks him out and doesn’t hear from him for a while. Before they can announce their separation, Jake is killed in a car accident. It leaves her in a very strange state of grief. Jake’s brother, Reed, comes to live with her to help support her financially. Wow! Reed is a smokin hot alpha who made me angry, swoon, and turned on almost all at the same time. It was kinda interesting the relationship that developed between them. When they weren’t having sex, Reed was sweet and kind. When they were having sex and right after, Reed was an a-hole who was rude and pushed her away. The anger comes from the guilt of sleeping with his brother’s wife. That anger made for some seriously hot scenes in the bedroom.

Wren has recently become widowed. When her brother in law, Reed, says that he is going to move in with her to help her out, she doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Their relationship is hard work with their constant bickering and jealously when each of them go on dates. You can feel the sexual tension in the air and you just want them to rip each other’s clothing off.
I loved how cosy this book was, it’s a story which you can just pick up and read especially when you don’t know what you want to read. I throughly enjoyed it. I can’t wait for you to meet Wren and Reed and their chemistry! Give me a Reed any day!

I received this novel as an advanced reading copy. This is my honest review. This is a slow burn
I really enjoyed this novel! I also read Room 452 be my her! It was a friends to lovers romance. It did have a forbidden aspect to it because it is her brother in law. It was a good quick read.
Wren is married to Jake. There marriage was on the rocks and there was not anything left. Jake lost his life in a tragic life months after they separated. Wren found out he was cheating on her with multiple partners. They kept their separation from both of their families.
Reed is Jake’s brother. He moves in with Wren claiming he is only doing this because he promised Jake he would take care of Wren. Reed and Wren have really good banter back and forth. Reed is definitely and alpha male inside and outside if the bedroom!!

Why didn't I read this one sooner? It’s been in my TBR since before it came out.
The banter and angst are over the top amazing!
Reed and Wren are brought together once more after the passing of her husband, Jake (aka Reed's brother). They had had a falling out a few months back when Reed announced to her that Jake was cheating on her. They both now live under the same roof - trying to not fall into each other's arms and bed every chance they get.
There is so much back and forth between these to but it's definitely worth it. Each steamy scene gets sexier than the last one and much more bolder.
