"Remember me when snowflakes fall."

When Snowflakes Fall by Kayla McKinney was completely outside of my current reading comfort zone of dark mm romance, but knowing that Kayla also writes as Michaella Dieter and her books are much more my thing, I thought I'd dive in.

This a small-town, second chance romance with a holiday feel. But don't be fooled, there's more to When Snowflakes Fall than just a fluffy Christmas romance; we have a mystery stalker, a stack of heartache, betrayal, loss and angst, and of course a decent amount of steam 🔥🔥.

Grace and Jeremy are the perfect couple to curl up with over the holidays for your dose of Christmas feel-good.

I am normally one for the dark angsty romances. Tis the season, and I decided to try a holiday romance. There was definitely some angst, and three particular chapters that ripped my heart out.

I adored Grace, she’s so spunky. After some very deep loss she becomes an expert introvert, who the universe pushes to get out more. Jeremy is everything you think of when you imagine a sexy fireman. The building of their relationship is everything I didn’t know I needed.

Anderson Heights is written so elegantly that you can envision this small town in a hallmark movie. It sounds like an adorable place to live. There’s darkness hiding in the shadows of this town, though and they have to work together to survive it.

The author convention and all the author references were to funny, and I loved the friendship she made. The HEA was so perfect, *sigh* I loved loved this story so much, 10/10 would recommend!

If you're looking for a feel good small town romance, this is it.  If you're looking for some hot sex, this is it. If you're looking for a mystery and dangerous plot, this is it.

This fucking reads like a xmas Hallmark movie that mixed its signals with Pornhub and Crime TV. It's a story about life after tragedy, at a second chance at romance, at learning to let go.

You follow Grace, the FMC, that has had 5 fucked up years and finally decided to live. It's the Xmas season and you feel it in the activities and excitement. But very quickly after trying to get out of her hibernation, she feels a darkness start to follow her everywhere she goes. She's harassed and attacked by an unknown villain.

Jeremy is the sexy firefighter who's been fucked over by love and just about gave up until he meets Grace. Their connection is fast and strong.

There's a lot of emotions in this story, you feel the anger, the betrayal, the confusion, the fear, the love and the heartache. That goddamn heartache had some weird clear  shit blocking my eyesight. This is not the type of book I'd pick for myself, but I'm glad I read it. It was an easy read, the words flowed, the events were written in such a way that it felt like you were watching a movie. It's def a must for the Hallmark movie fanatics.

When Snowflakes Falls is fast paced, heart warming contemporary romance story that is super addictive. Once you start reading it you cant't put the down.
After experiencing a great tragedy, Grace closes herself and her heart until she meets the tall, handsome and dashing firefighter who manages to steal her heart, BUT not everything is what it seems. Anderson Heights might be small but it harbours dark secrets, stalkers and unexpected killers.

The steam ♨️ 🔥 in this book will leave you panting 🥵 🥵 and wanting to swap places with Grace. Jeremy is one super dominant firefighter who knows how to please his woman. Move away girls, I licked him first, he is mine now 🤦‍♀️🤣

If you like romance with plenty of steam, mystery, danger and feels that will kick you straight into your gut then I highly recommend this book. HEA is guaranteed 💜😻

I don’t like stories that centre around holidays, and I don’t like my romances sweet either. So, why the hell did I pick up When Snowflakes Fall? To be honest, I wouldn’t have, but Kayla McKinney is the pen name of the awesome Michaella Dieter, and I felt that if anyone could change my mind, it would be her.

When Snowflakes Fall is the story of two people who have suffered devastating loss and the deepest betrayal. At the right time in their lives they meet and as they get to know each other, begin to heal. Because we’re reading romance, and finding true love is never easy, they face emotional obstacles and physical danger in their pursuit of happiness.

Grace is a highly relatable heroine. She has the body worries of your average 30-something woman, is completely mortified when she fangirls over her favourite author (admit it, you would too), and forgets what she’s doing right in the middle of the task.

Jeremy is the perfect book boyfriend. A romantic gentleman in uniform (and he knows how to work it!) with a protective and slightly dominant streak. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on him.

Along with scenes from Grace and Jeremy’s point of view, we also see into the mind of the mysterious Mr Bennett, a man with a job to do. His employer has assigned him one last task to complete before he can retire, and Grace is its focus. In following her to achieve this end, Mr Bennett gives off some serious stalker vibes that Grace picks up on, helping to push the story forwards.

I’m not going to tell you why I think you should read the book, because if you’re here, it’s probably because you like your book boyfriends dark and dirty. What I will say is that the story is well written and moves at a good pace. It was an enjoyable read but, for me, more of a palette cleanser before I go back to the dark side. My 4⭐ rating is probably skewed by having nothing relevant to compare this book to but if sweet and sexy is your jam, then you’re gonna love it.

My Rating - ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️/5 🥰💙
Spice Rating - 🌶🌶🌶/5 🥵🔥

Released - Nov 30th - Preorder Now! ♥️🎄

What a delightful and enchanting story about a second chance at love. I must admit I was a little shocked by the 1st spicy scene because I expected fade to black, however it wasn't and I’m so happy about that. As a single gal, a little bit of spice is always nice 😉

Grace has shut herself away from the world for the last 5 years since the tragic death of her husband & son but is determined to rejoin society, and thank goodness she did. Whilst out Christmas tree shopping, she bumps into the very handsome and very dreamy, Jeremy. A divorced firefighter who’s done with love. Or so he thought!

You can’t help but fall in love with Grace & Jeremy, smiling at the endearing moments they share, and hoping that after years of pain, guilt, and loneliness, they can help mend each other’s hearts and find the love they both deserve.
As with all romances, there are a few bumps along the way and a frightening mystery that threatens to ruin it all, but as the snowflakes begin to fall, will it be a happy ending after all?

I adore the FMC, Grace. Extremely relatable, especially with her self-confidence & body image issues, but I am in love with Jeremy. And as a result, I am going to blame Kayla McKinney for my now unrealistic expectations of the perfect partner! Lol

This is a magical feel-good Christmas romance. One that is bound to rekindle your hope in finding love.

Thank you to the wonderful, Kayla McKinney, for an ARC ebook in return for an honest review.

You need a kleenex

Sweet, sad, heartbreaking, steamy, mysterious, page turner! Grace has been through a very very terrible tragedy. Gut wrenching and she basically has closed herself off and away from everyone. Jeremy, the local fireman is intrigued by Grace. Jeremy, soooo swoony, so sweet, he falls completely head over heels for his girl. I don't want to say too much but the extra character, I wasn't expecting that. Excellent supporting character. I feel like this story will stay with me for a long while. Definitely would recommend!

This holiday romance (and mystery) really put me in the Christmas spirit…… What can I say, I’m a sucker for peppermint coffee, decorated Christmas trees, and SWOON WORTHY LOVE!!!!

If you’re considering reading this book, don’t think about it and just dive right in!! This author gave me everything with this book! I was in my feelings one minute, panting with heat from their streamy scenes the next, then also trying to figure out what the hell was going on! Oh, because there’s a stalker on the loose this holiday season and let me just say the plot twist will have you rethinking all the events leading up… God, I love a good mystery!

Our couple Grace and Jeremy… Ughh what can I say?! They make you believe in pure love, second chances and having incredible sex in front of the Christmas tree! 😉❤️‍🔥 Their faults and insecurities make them so relatable. You truly feel what these individuals have gone through in their past and how they are trying to not just survive, but feel alive again! I loved everything about them!! (I also wouldn’t mind latching myself to Jeremy like a fireman’s pole 🥵)

The secondary characters were absolutely amazing! I loved Jeremy’s family! I am quite excited to read more from the Andersen Heights Series!

I don’t know what else to say because I don’t want to give anything away! Just go read it! You will NOT be disappointed!!! 🤗

I’m not going to lie. Usually if a book isn’t dark or doesn’t have dark triggers, it doesn’t hold my attention. This holiday second chance romance was EVERYTHING! It gave hallmark vibes with a ✨hint✨ of the sexy scenes we love ❤️

Grace & Jeremy both have had heartbreak that has kept them from moving forward, but once they decided to take the plunge, it was an absolutely amazing love story. They both deserve the world and it was so refreshing they were both able to get their HEA even though troubles came their way.

My heart absolutely aches for the tragedies Grace endured, and I was so glad she decided to break from her shell and take her chance with Jeremy. The ending absolutely took my breath away and made me tear up. An emotional and wonderful read! Five stars ⭐️

I started this book expecting a cosy, fluffy, Christmas romance and got so much more instead. This is a small town contemporary romance with spice and suspense thrown in.

The story centres around Grace, a lonely author living in small town Anderson Heights who has withdrawn herself after facing more loss and pain than anymore deserves. However everything quickly changes for her when she meets Hunky Fireman Jeremy and things begin to heat up.

Grace and Jeremy make the perfect couple! The romance was hot and steamy but took its time and not to forget, we finally have a couple who communicate! 🙌🏼

Don’t be fooled though, just as you’re starting to enjoy the romance, you’re gripped by the suspense as stalkers and arsonists are thrown into the mix. Just as you think you know what’s going to happen next, there’s another twist you didn’t see coming.

Yes this is a cosy Christmas story but it’s also about pushing yourself and following your heart. I can’t wait for the next instalment of the series ⭐️

When Snowflakes Fall by Kayla McKinney is an emotional, small town romance akin to a Hallmark movie. This book was so good. Not only was it well written but there was an underlying plot of mystery and suspense. When Snowflakes Falls a story about getting a second chance at love after facing tragedy and learning to let go.

Since the loss of her husband and son 5 years ago in an, Grace has lived in seclusion. This Christmas season she has decided to live and leave her bubble of comfort. While things are slightly overwhelming, Grace slowly gets back on her feet. If only things were that easy, darkness follows Grace everywhere she goes. She is being stalked and harassed by an unknown foe.

Jeremy hasn't had the best time with love. She has just about given up on love when he meets Grace and is immediately attracted to her. The connection between the two is electric. Their connection speaks volumes about the possibility of finding another soulmate during your lifetime.

I absolutely love this story and the way it was written. The story is so emotional; it brought tears to my eyes. There's anger, fear, heartache, betrayal, and confusion. I felt the characters' pain and sorrow. This is definitely a must-read for anyone looking for an addictive small-town romance with plenty of steam.

Taking place 5 years after the death of her husband and son, Grace is a romance author trying desperately to embrace the Christmas season again.

She's hidden herself away from her grief and pain but bumping into a handsome firefighter as she's trying to pick out a Christmas tree changes her life forever.

While Jeremy has his own past to deal with, his jilted admirer is looking for revenge.

I enjoyed this very much! Its a short one but packs a punch. I loved the second love aspect and that the MCs are realistic ages. I'm so over every romance being between the ages of 19 and 24. Grace also has very relatable body image issues which I found touching.

The only reason I docked a star is for it being a little short for me. I wish we would have heard more about both MCs past a little more and given them a longer romance. However, the spice is on point.

A lovely Christmas time romance by Kayla McKinney and I can't wait to see what she writes next!

If you’re looking for a romance that has mystery and intrigue and is set during the Christmas period in a small town, this is the perfect book for you.

From beginning to end, I couldn’t put it down, eager to know what would happen next.

The story centres around Grace, a lonely romance author residing in Anderson Heights, who has closed her life and her heart off for many years. After a tragic accident, she is somewhat of a recluse… that is until a hunky fireman called Jeremy parks himself firmly in her life. Jeremy is everything I expected and more. It’s so refreshing to read about a normal guy who can make me swoon instead of the usual brooding alphas.

Let me tell you, the chemistry between the two leads is OUT OF THIS WORLD/OFF THE CHARTS! 🥵 The smoking hot love scenes had me breathless and the connection between the pair was EVERYTHING!

The build up to the main story is crafted perfectly. The author allows the reader to visualise and get to know the characters at a lovely pace. The writing is quite frankly, stellar.

But just when you think that this will be a sweet, fluffy romance, there’s a curve ball. When Snowflakes Fall is not just a romance, it has the hint of a dark side too with stalkers and arsonists thrown into the mix.
And just when you think you have it figured out, bang, another twist you never saw coming.

The secondary characters, such as Jeremy’s family and his firefighter friends also play pivotal role in the story— all very likeable.
And that’s what I loved about it. Each character felt very real.
I’m a sucker for a happy ending, but be warned, have a box of tissues handy at the end. I sobbed my heart out during the last few chapters.

My advice before reading this gorgeous story is to curl up on the sofa in your favourite pj’s and shut the world away, because once you start, you won’t ever want it to end.

Yes, this is a wonderful Christmas romance but it’s so much more. It’s about second chances and following your heart.

I look forward to the next instalments of the series. In fact, I can’t wait ❤️

This beautiful small town, holiday romance packs a punch. Heartache, mystery, second chances, and of course a HEA!

After shutting herself away for 5 years after a tragic loss, Grace finally decides that she's going to put herself out there in the world again and live.
Then she meets Jeremy, a sexy as hell firefighter. Betrayal has caused him to pretty much give up on love.
A Christmas tree brings them together. The connection is instant and their chemistry is explosive.

Between Grace's insecurities, some stalker-type action, a bitch ex, and a life or death situation, they definitely have some obstacles to overcome, but nothing can keep the two of them apart.

What an emotional journey!! This story really messed with my head. I thought I had it all figured out. Boy was I wrong!!
If you like your romance with just a touch of suspense, then this is a must-read for you.

If you are looking for a small town romance with a bit of suspense, then definitely pick up When Snowflakes Fall. It is a feel good, steamy, relatable, gut wrenching yet heart warming romance. Grace and Jeremy have found each other, and they are both learning to love and trust again.

These two are just perfect for each other. They both need each other to heal and their chemistry is just 🔥🔥🔥 They have so many sweet moments and a few trying moments, but they are serious couple goals.

There is a bit of mystery and suspense surrounding Grace and Jeremy, as well as Anderson Heights. There are shocking revelations and twists that I really did not see coming.

I have been trying to put into words what this book has done to me. I cried. Quite a bit. Sad tears, happy tears, closure tears. All of it. This story was beautifully told and I cannot wait to read more from this small town.

Romance con vibras navideñas y un giro de suspense!

🎄When Snowflakes Fall de Kayla McKinney✨

Argumento:

I was very lucky to receive an eARC of this book by Kayla McKinney.

To say that I was eager to read this book may be an understatement as the teasers dropped by the author did nothing but fuel my want to read this story!

I was drawn to this as the main characters are older, maybe not wiser, it was nice to read something based around my own age range and who can say no to a Christmas romance!?

Our main character are Grace and Jeremy and I am utterly besotted by them. As they are both older they each have a history that is well thought out, deep and flawlessly written. You can feel how they have become the people they are given their stories and it made them all the more loveable throughout.

This book was gripping, I couldn’t put it down, as I written this review my poor dogs have given up on the idea of bed and are snoring gracefully beside me on the couch.

The whole thing was just great; feel good, romantic, spicy and mysterious.

I have to admit I related to Grace, I too am 37 years old wishing I looked how I did when I was 17 and we both have epic taste in Christmas films.

There were moments of pure unadulterated ugly crying on my part but also shifty glances over the top of my Kindle to check I wasn’t steaming up the room at some of the spicer scenes 🥵

The ‘meet-cute’ at the beginning of the book had me imagining this as a movie. I’d totally go watch it too!

There are twists and turns in this story to keep you gripped and invested as it progresses quickly.

I was a great read and I look forward to more from the Anderson Heights Series.

Kayla has written an emotional masterpiece, every element of this book is carefully crafted to pull at you're heart strings. The world building is brilliantly detailed to perfection it pulls you in and embeds the characters in your heart.

Grace is an amazingly strong FMC, to have survived a truly catastrophic event that would leave most people comatosed. She is an exploration of grief and how crippling its affects are but also how love and hope can help heal what was once shattered.

Jeremy has had his heart and trust crushed thanks to a devious and manipulative ex. I love his inner strength and how he gives 100% to Grace from the get go, he is such a bright soul who strives for love and happiness.

I absolutely loved Grace and Jermys chemistry, how their relationship progressed from shy and tentative to firey enough to take on the world.

Mr Bennett was a wild card who harboured an ominous nature that filled me with a dark sense of foreboding. His actions seemed to follow through and second that feel but he was ultimately an utterly integral part of everything.

The revelations, plots twists and depth of growth for all the characters make this book a must read. It will eat away at your heart till its barely hanging on to then heal it and make it bigger than before. If you do not shed a tear I will be amazed.

I just finished this book and I have tears streaming down my face. This was such a beautiful book of love, second chance at love, loss and never forgetting the ones lost.
Grace is a writer who has loved and lost. She lives through her books after what happened but the she meets Jeremy and starts to feel again.
Jeremy is a firefighter who has loved and been lied to. Both Grace and Jeremy have walls up to guard them but those walls come crumbling down once they meet. They’re hearts recognizing the pain they both have gone threw and drawing them together.
Along the way there is a stalker and an arsonist on the heels of their love. It threatens them to take once more from them.
I loved this story so much. And the ending was so unexpected. I thought I knew who the arsonist was and I really thought there was more. I was surprised to find out who one of the arsonist was but not the other. And the reason for why one did it was just crazy.
I really thought someone else was stalking Grace along with the arsonist. To my surprise it turned out to be something else that had always been with Grace. This part was so beautifully written with so much heart it was heartbreaking that there was so much love there. I never saw that coming.
I highly recommend this book.

ARC Review 🌺

This was such a beautiful read. Well written, and power-packed with sexiness and love. I enjoyed every second I spent with Mr. Evans, Ms. McKenzie and Mr. Bennett (who I genuinely thought was the villain until I was like 50% in). It has laughter, heartbreak, pain, love, steam, everything I look for in a book. I would've read it in one sitting if I wasn't a working lady.

Jeremy is the perfect gentleman and now a part of my line of book boyfriends. He is so sexy, sweet, funny, caring, attentive and emotional. He is the best man.

Grace is a typical shy, and awkward girl who loves fiercely and is real. She is just so much like me that I was really seeing myself and imagining what it would be like if my boyfriend was just as amazing as Jeremy.

Mr. Bennett, oh god, that reveal shook me to my core. I was gawking at my phone screen at 3 in the morning thinking what the hell happened here just now. I legit reread the two pages 5 times to absorb that what I read was in fact true.

This was an amazing holiday read. Really recommend to people who like soft and steamy romances, and want christmas vibes.

Adorable, and action packed, winter read

Such an adorable and yet exciting read. Absolutely perfect for a cozy winter night in, especially around holidays. I was pretty surprised with how cute this book was and the fact that there was still a bit of mystery and action (actual action, not just steam).

Let’s set the mood a bit: it takes places in a small town just before Christmas. Two people, who have been hurt or have suffered in the past see each other and feel that instant connection. I know I know, it has the makings of a Hallmark movie. But, and there’s a big but, someone is lurking around the city and causing tragedies and there is another mysterious person whose identity won’t be revealed until the end. So we have a little bit of a Hallmark movie but there is also actual… Not so predictable plot.

I absolutely adored how the author was able to weave the characters’ stories together in ways that both the characters and the reader did not realize. The ending was just lovely and emotional. It really was sweet and made me feel it in my heart.

A perfect read this winter.

Review

I don’t even know where to even begin expressing how much I loved this heartbreaking heartfelt amazingly fabulous tear inducing fan-freaking-tastic story!!! This book definitely gives you allllllll the feels and then some. Not one emotional stone left unturned in my heart!!

It’s been 5 years since tragedy struck Grace’s life and heart but even she realizes she has to move on and pick up the pieces to her life. Fate (or is it something else entirely?) gives her nudges in the right direction and nudges one hot firefighter named Jeremy in her direction too! Instantly sparks fly between the two but of course there’s always something or someone out there trying to ruin others happiness. But true love always prevails.

If you love Strong FMC’s, Alpha hotties, mystery with a bit of suspense and tragedy, holiday romances, and all the feels then you are going to absolutely love this book. I absolutely highly recommend this as a definite must read and highly recommend a box of tissues to go with it!!!

Start your holiday-heartwarmers binge this season by reading this book straight away! Not your average seasonal read, this book was the perfect short novel to give you all the holiday feels with a side plot of suspense that rounds out this sweet Christmas tale!

Set in a small town at Christmas, Grace and Jeremy, both struggling from shattered pasts, embark on a tender romantic journey that you only get through experiencing turmoil or loss and learning to live and love again. The charm of this love story is the likable characters, the picturesque hometown and the innocence of the relationship and how it develops slowly, a pure romantic Cinderella-type of love that just makes your heart swell. The added suspense plot element to this comforting holiday read keeps the story interesting and fresh without being overly angsty or sappy.

The perfect read to start your festive season.

I'm not crying, you're crying!!

Ok we're all blinking crying, just accept it. There will be tears even if you refuse to let them fall!

you know me, I do dark romance. Dark, twisty, bloody and smutty. This is none of those things. In fact its so far at the other end of the spectrum its pure white (kinda like a snowflake ;) )

This has everything you want from a holiday romance. Some angst, some sadness, a second chance at love, a incredibly likable FMC and of course a lickable MMC!! What you didn't know you needed was the mystery and danger that lurks just under the surface of Anderson Heights.

Kayla does an incredible job of setting the scene of this small town and all its inhabitants. The dash of humour from the book signing is perfect and the side characters really add depth.

The twist in the plot I wasn't quite expecting but loved! I can't believe I'm saying this but I really hope we're in for more from Anderson Heights.

This story hits you right in the feelings. Grace has lived through a major tragedy. She spends five years grieving and finally decides she is going to live her life. Grace runs into a Jeremy, a firefighter, while shopping for a Christmas tree. He assists with finding the perfect tree while waiting on his brother. They start dating and fall in love. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies though because there is an arsonist terrorizing the city. There is also a side story that took me a hot minute to figure out what was actually happening.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Heartfelt and sincere, Grace and Jeremy’s story is a great read. You’ll love Grace for being a realistic character with flaws and Jeremy will win you over with his charm.

Beautiful second chance love story!

WOW! This was such a beautiful story filled with so much emotion that it pulled on my heartstrings right from the very beginning, had me crying throughout and kept me on the edge of my seat hoping there was going to be a wonderful HEA!

Grace and Jeremy have this instant connection that is undeniable. The familiar pain in their eyes draws them both in and pulls them together. Their journey of healing and finding love again was a beautiful thing to experience.

This story is wonderfully written with such intense emotions, phenomenal characters and a storyline that has some suspense, some twists and turns, and will captivate you and capture your heart.

I loved every wonderful second of it.

A must read!! Perfect for the holiday!!

This was a perfect book for the holiday!! I love the story between Jeremy and Grace their love is like no other in the small town of Anderson Heights! The tragic story of Graces loss of her husband and son fits perfect in this book of how Jeremy is their to help her over come what she needs to and how ever she needs him! I love how when she runs he is right their running after her the knight in shining armor! I was so happy to see they caught the two bastards that were not only setting the fires around town but who were stalking Grace and bringing terror to her life! This book is by far a 10 out of 10 on my list!!

When a book grips you so tightly that you can imagine living in this make believe, idyllic place called Anderson Heights, you know it's a goodun'!

Grace and Jeremy. The perfect couple with heaps of baggage to unload. Jeremy however, I'd be lighting fires all the time for his dominant ways *phwoar!*

This is not just your general run of the mill romance. Kayla has added suspense, heartache, steaaaammmm (I'm here for steam 🔥🔥) and wee bit of arson to create a book that should be a hallmark movie!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to ARC read this, I've loved every moment ❤

⚠️ Possible Spoilers Ahead ⚠️

“Remember me when snow flakes fall”

Is now the book quote that shattered my soul. A second chance romance with the soul snatching ability to destroy your heart but mend it back together again.

I am a sucker for a firefighter romance so this book was an absolute must read for me but the way the author wove her words and made you feel these two characters on these pages has amazed me.

You will cry. This book WILL MAKE YOU CRY. But it’s serotonin for the soul. It seriously heals you. As a person. That’s talent in writing. When a book has the ability to give you a sense of belonging again.

This book also has some unexpected twists with the reveal of the arsonist/s. That was a brow popping moment for sure.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this book. I am in awe and wonder at the beauty of it.
