I know there are quite a few who don't like Cheryl Brooks' 'Cat Star' books. I, however, eat them up like chocolate bonbons and I'll try to explain why. First, they're very, very hot. They come incredibly close to, and sometimes pass over the boundry of, erotica. The series details the stories of a group of male aliens whose planet was destroyed in a war by a group trying to eliminate their species. Why? Well, likely because their 'snard' (and no, I won't explain that...you can just guess!) causes explosive and continuing orgasms! So I'm guessing a planet or two of jealous men would be the culprits who'd want to be rid of men like that. Anyway, only a small number survived who were sold into slavery despite the bounty on their heads. Each book details the story of one (or two) of these men and how they find the woman meant for them.

There's a good bit of humor, some fairly silly and some bitingly sarcastic, in these books. She parodies everything from Mickey D's to classical music and I find myself snickering every time.

This book is about two brothers who found themselves the pet of a lizard queen (yes, you read that correctly). She 'collects' alien species but treats them fairly well. Unfortunately for these sex machines, they don't and can't 'do' lizards! But when the queen sends to earth for a female piano teacher for her daughter they hit the jackpot. Lots of sex, a coup, and musical revolution follow.

Cheryl Brooks can write sizzling sex, witty banter, and a tale that takes me away from all mundane issues. THAT'S why I like her books. "Rogue" pushes the boundary between a really hot romance and erotica since there is one menage scene. If this will offend or bug you...don't read it.

ok, got the first three books in the series as a bundle - slave, warrior and rogue. i'm going to do a cut and paste for my reviews because frankly, all three have become muddled in my mind as one large pile of sludge.

ohmigod. what an absolutely weird (and not the good kind) premise. a race killed off, their planet destroyed, because the male of the species offer the most insane orgasms merely by touching their pre-cum. their actual cum - why, you can't even manage the pleasure. add in the ruffled tip of their penises that rotate and flutter and you've got yourself the dumbest dick i've ever heard of.

the three books all introduce us to members of this race that were off-planet when it was destroyed. the last of their race. their value unprecedented. combine that nugget with the fact that all characters in these books are completely one dimensional - and dear reader, you must pass these books by. quickly.

To be honest I couldn't finish this book. I read 60% and realized I didn’t like the plot or the characters and I didn't care what happens. Basically it is a sex fantasy for a lonely piano teacher who goes to a far off planet to teacher aliens how to play piano. She meets and falls in love with a slave who is part cat, wears only a collar and cock ring. I mean seriously. Read at your own risk.

It's rare when i can't finish a book, but this one I just couldn't. I made it half way through and then well, you'll get to the scene involving bodily fluids and something called "snard." Enough said. I like erotica and all, but this one just wasn't believable for me.

Kyra Aramis has answered an ad for a piano teacher. She is excited as this will be her first time traveling to another planet other than Earth. Kyra will be going to the planet of Darconia. All Kyra knows about this planet is that it is dry like a desert and the people living there are reptilian.

Once Kyra arrives and gets her first good look at Darconia she is shocked. The people there are clothed in barely anything at all. Before Kyra can get herself composed, she is whisked away to the dining hall where she meets Queen Scalia and her daughter Princess Zealon, whom Kyra will be teaching piano to. As if there couldn’t be any more surprises Kyra thinks, Queen Scalia shows Kyra her prized collection of exotic cats. Their names are Trag and Tychar. They are brothers and 100% male in every part of the way.

The queen presents Kyra with Tychar to keep her company during her stay on Darconia. Instantly Kyra becomes aroused by Tychar and the feelings are mutual. But how will Kyra feel when Trag comes into the picture. Can anyone say three-some?

Rogue is book three in the Cat Star Chronicles series by Cheryl Brooks. This series is about a bunch of hot, sexy males who have cat like features. They have been separated and each book is about a different guy or guy’s story. The best part about this series is that you can read the books in any order. Of course having the male leads as out of this world hunks, who know how to pleasure a woman is not a bad thing either. I instantly fell in love with Cheryl when I read Warrior the second book in this series. I am so surprised that I have not heard more about this author. She is a talented author, who deserves to be praised. I know that from now on I plan to read every single book that Cheryl Brooks writes and I plan to tell all my friends about her.

Another quick read from author Cheryl Brooks. Her books are kind of a guilty pleasure. I should be sleeping, but I'm reading instead. Rogue is the first time for the M/M/F action. A bit tame.

All 3 stars are for the world-building and off-world aspects of the plot.

The sex and romance in the book were, by turns, horrifying and retarded; they detract from the enjoyment of the plot.

The author should write a Space Opera minus the sex; it would fare better than this series. I would buy THAT book.

The author sets up these great plots and backdrops to the stories, then flushes it away with all the rest of the pointless crap that gets tacked on to it. The sex, especially, really lets the plot down, throughout the series. It's gross beyond belief. The romance is only slightly more palatable than the sex.

Also, the editor need to trim down on the excessive inner monologue. It's repetitious, boring, insipid, and mind-numbingly stupid. And don't get me started on the dialogue!! The conversations the characters carry on in this series are enough to make you want to give up on life. It's so boooorrrrriiiiinnnnngggggg, repetitious, and without direction. Ugh! The idea of a lizard planet was great; the moronic chatter that seems to saturate said planet, not so much!!

The shrine

This book is from my re-read list and though I find it to be less engaging than others in the series, it brings in a continuing storyline with a cameo appearance by Jack and Cat (book one) and Tisana and Leo (book two). It takes place on a arid planet where the lizard like inhabitants live and rule from an oasis. The queen collects exotic slaves and has hired a Terran musician to teach her heir to play the piano. She invites the piano teacher, Kyra, to dinner the evening she arrives on planet from Earth and introduces her to two of the slaves, brothers Ty and Trag, humanoids with cat like features. But not all the queen's subjects are happy with her progressive ideas or with her bringing in off worlders. And Kyra's life is about to change forever.

A tale of two slaves and a beautiful piano teacher, on a distant and alien planet. None of them belonged here, but all of them found that it was home; A thrilling and romantic tale is in this book, and I very much recommend that you read the series!

This book was the best, so far, for me in the series. I had one minor issue. The story doesn't really start until maybe the end of chapter three.

One thing, I think, should be noted to anyone reading this review with intent to go read the book. This book has two brothers and sharing occurs, of the lead female.

Consensual sharing but still.

Seeing as I didn't read the blurb, I thought both of them would be hers and I do enjoy those types of relationships. But alas, it only happens once and with pointless reasoning like: she felt sorry for the other brother's dry spell.

Maybe as I had thought they would both love her, it didn't bother me much but it could be annoying to other readers. That other brother is constantly hitting on his brother's mate and trying to get her pity again. In bed.

Besides that, this story is light as is usual in the series. A lot of fun characters and moments. Not terribly heavy on the romance but pleasant to read. I really could see and feel comfortable with the main characters in this book.

When books are written in a series I tend to like to read them in order so I don’t feel that I’m missing something. I honestly didn’t have that problem when reading Rogue. Everything was explained in great detail so I didn’t feel “lost” in the story and feel like I have to read the first two books - though I definately plan to anyway. I found out why brothers, Tychar and Trag were enslaved so long ago along with others from their destroyed planet Zetith and why it was destroyed. The descriptions of the palace, the planet, its people, everything were in great detail. I felt that I was right there in their world, seeing and experiencing it all through the characters/authors eyes.

I really enjoyed discovering the world of Darconia - where Tychar and Trag are enslaved. I love being introduced to new unknown worlds. Now when you think of the word “enslaved” you most likely think of it in a bad way which is what I assumed as well but, for being slaves they were actually treated very, very well. I’m honestly glad the author didn’t make them being slaves into a horribly, bad, and depressing part of the story, that would have ruined the story.

The world of Darconia I found facinating from their dry, rock infested desert land to their many resourceful products/resources like the glowstones and cleaning cloths - I would explain in more detail why I found these things so facinating but, I don’t want to give too much away. Also that their planet was pretty much inhabited by talking lizard people was pretty interesting as well. I’m not a big fan of reptiles they kind of creep me out so if I would have ever seen them talk it would have taken some getting used to.

Now onto the good part, Tychar and Kyra’s romantic chemistry was beyond amazing. You could just feel it crackling and sizzling in the air. It was really funny seeing Kyra struggle with trying not to (pardon my french) jump his bones even though she really wanted to and I found Tychar absolutely charming. I did find it kind of weird to hear Tychar talking about love so soon in the beginning of the book. Usually if a woman even mentions the word love to a man they go running. Well, I guess Tychar isn’t exactly human so it doesn’t count but, still it was really weird.

On the other hand Tychar’s brother, Trag he seemed to catch my eye more. I think it was the fact that he was so cocky and had a sense of humor with a temper to match. I tend to be drawn more to male characters with those characteristics for some odd reason.

In all, this book was a great read and I definately recommend it. Even try picking out one of the other books in The Cat Star Chronicles series, I’m sure they’re as good as this one. I’m hoping to get my hands on the first two books in the series so I’ll for sure do a review on them when I manage to get my hands on them.

Interesting and creative sci-fi and erotic ideas, but author’s voice was too dry. Weak emotional pull.

STORY BRIEF:
Scaly lizard-type creatures live on the planet Darconia, under the rule of Queen Scalia. Kyra is a timid, young piano teacher from earth. She travels to Darconia to take a job teaching piano to the Queen’s daughter Zealon. The Queen has a few slaves which she treats more like guests than slaves. Two of them are gorgeous men with sharp teeth and fangs called Tychar and Trag, Zetithians. Their greatest talents are giving sexual pleasure to women. Their body fluids have unique tastes and are unusually potent for pleasure. Other humanoid men could never compete against them for women, and many men wanted to kill off the entire species. Most of the Zetithians died when an asteroid destroyed their planet. The rest are scattered on other planets, in hiding from bounty hunters hired to kill them. Queen Scalia has kept Tychar and Trag hidden and protected for 20 years. She refers to them as her pet cats. When Kyra sees Tychar for the first time, she experiences sexual ecstasy without even being touched. The Queen encourages the relationship, and the two quickly fall in love and have a lot of sex.

Much of the story is Kyra meeting new creatures and learning about the planet and how things work. She teaches piano to a few students. Later the palace is attacked in a coup causing some conflict and changes.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
The story is told in the first person, Kyra’s point of view. Something was off about the author’s voice for me. It reminded me of a student writing a paper about “what I did during the summer.” It felt dry. I’m not sure what it needed. Depth? Suspense? More interesting character development - showing different characters’ thoughts, motivations, fears, and weaknesses? I’m having trouble explaining what bothered me. The author had some interesting wit and commentary about life on this other planet, but I wasn’t drawn in emotionally. It was easy to put down, and I wanted it to be over. The author had some new and creative ideas which I thought about periodically after reading the book. I just wish the voice (or something) was different.

DATA:
Story length: 343 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 8, most of them several pages long. One scene has two men and one woman. Setting: unspecified time in the future traveling to and on the planet Darconia. Copyright: 2009. Genre: paranormal sci-fi romance.

OTHER BOOKS:
This is the 3rd book in The Cat Star Chronicles series. Book 5 is scheduled to be published in 2010.

Erotic Scifi/romance
I've meant to come back to this series for a long time but every time I started this book, I would put it down. I now know why. The beginning is full of set up and descriptions of who Kyra is, why Kyra is leaving her home, and how the trip is to the lizard planet. Then when you get to the lizard planet, Draconia, it is description of the planet, the travel to the palace, the room. You don't even meet Tychar & Trag until well into the story and by then you are a bit bored.

So finally I pushed beyond the set up and read on. From meeting Tychar and Trag, you are again given information about him and his brother. We slowly get the beginning of their relationship and why the lizard Queen has put Tychar to wait on Kyra, a personal servant. Then the story moves at a pretty good pace. It becomes erotic very quickly and stays there. I would classify this as Erotic Scifi and in that classification, say it is pretty good. The story is light for Scifi but strong on erotica.

I read a review where the person complained that in the books that the characters are monogamous and argue -- only to a point-- as even in the first book, Slave, , there is secondary sex scenes with others. So expect that it will happen here and in future books. The only time it doesn't seem to happen, is when the characters are isolated like in Warrior & Outcast.

Expect a boring beginning then lots of sex with a scifi story background, which is not very complicated but fun. The lizard world is well described and I enjoyed it once I got past the beginning. Then at the very end, you will see Jack and Cat show up, just like in Warrior. This series is ultimately the story of Jack getting/finding the last Zetithians and saving them from extiction.

Rogue is book #3 in the Cat Star Chronicles by new-to-me author Cheryl Brooks. I've mentioned before that I'm not a big reader in the romance genre, and I've definitely never read a romance/sci-fi book. My first thought on inter-species romance was "ewww", the second was "hmmm, it could work." No kidding.

Kyra Aramis is hired as piano teacher to a princess. So what if said princess is light-years away on Darconia, and Kyra's never even left the country before? It should be an adventure at the very least, right? And who'd have thunk that downsized, snub-nosed versions of the T-rex (in Kyra's own words) could even play the piano?

In any case, Kyra travels to Darconia and takes up her assignment. Whereupon the queen, Scalia, introduces Kyra to two of her slaves - Zetithian brothers who are devastatingly gorgeous and incredibly sensual. They're also humanoid, which contributed to the 2nd thought on inter-species romance - see above... The fact that they walk around mostly naked doesn't help alleviate the sexual tension present - Kyra's from the two yummilicious specimens of virility, theirs from not having had any in twenty years. Twenty years! Can you just imagine??

The world-building is detailed enough to be imagined, as are the various races present in the queen's private slave stash. The storyline moves along, mostly predictably. The *s* scenes don't overpower the storyline, though I cannot imagine it's good for a girl to be walking around thinking about *s* ALL the time. Then again, this is a romance, after all, regardless of which inter-galactic space it occupies. There's more of a plot than girl-meets-boy, girl-falls-for-boy, girl-lives-happily-ever-after-with-boy, which is just dandy with me, even if girl most probably does live-happily-ever-after-with-boy. And no, I'm not going to tell you if she picks one, or which one. =) Hah!

Rogue was an enjoyable read, if you like romance novels set in space.

So... I totally think I'm starting to sound like a broken record with this series but I have so much fun with these books. It's straightforward romance with a very naughty cat and the lady he wants to be with. No angst. No dark meanderings about the human condition. Just... fun! Okay, so Tychar is a slave and slavery is bad and, yes, that is addressed. And there's the whole thing with Trag, Ty's brother, and how he feels left out and he just wants a lady friend of his own but it worrrrrrks. And it doesn't make me feel all mopey when I'm done. I feel more like YAY! THOSE CATS HAVE EXCELLENT PENILE CONTROL AND ALL THAT JOY JUICE THAT CAUSES INSTANTANEOUS ORGASMS!WANT MOAR NOW!

This time around we have Ty and Trag who have spent the last 20 years as the pampered pets of a lizard queen on the far reaches of space. Enter Kyra, mild mannered piano teacher. Ty takes to her. She takes to him. Boom! The orgasms start flowing. So to speak. There's also a minor, little, teeny, tiny palace coup they get involved in but, really, this book is all about the orgasms.

Just in case you missed it earlier, these books are fun. *This* book is fun. Fun fun fun. Fun with naughty feline aliens who like to give their women joy like none they've ever known. That's not an empty boast, people. They really do give it to them and give it to them and give it to them. And then they go one more round just because they can.

I'm having a fun time rereading this series. Can you tell?

HOT! Wow. Shy piano teacher arrives on a frightening planet, and on her first night, is introduced to two sexy, sex-starved slave men who can smell her arousal. In Rogue Rogue, the queen assigns one of the slaves to this retiring piano teacher, and it isn't long before she surrenders to his charms. But what of the other? His brother? You'll have to read it to find out. Tychar and his brother, Trag, are the sexiest men in Cheryl Brooks'Cheryl Brooks Cat Star Chronicles so far. Their species is a highly-sexual race of men, yet these two haven't had any action in twenty years. Enter Kyra, the unsuspecting Earth woman hired to teach the queen's daughter to play piano. What follows is some of the hottest sex I've read. How they win their freedom is quite the adventure. And I should mention that though Kyra isn't bold at the beginning, Tychar's lovemaking brings out a real spunk in her. By the end, I'd go as far as to say she rivals Jacinth's boldness in Slave. So fun! Be sure to add this book to you Need To Read list!

This is probably the best 3-star series I've read in a while. Each adventure is fun, and our heros always get into a bit of trouble - classic space opera. The stories are well plotted and don't have holes or cheats.

But...

The romance is strictly "This must be my mate as he has a huge cock" instant love. And the sex scenes lack intensity. Yes, the characters tell you that what they are feeling is intense, but the descriptions are short and didn't really turn me on. Which is too bad, because the clever part of the sexual attraction to the Cats is quite compelling, and the various scenarios are creative. Each story has an epilogue that ties the series together, which is clever, and may lead to an all-star book later on.

The third installment introduces us a pair of Cat brothers! Therefore a menage must be included. The heroine is a mousy piano teacher, who becomes stronger before our eyes. After one royal bitch overthrows the queen, our trio helps lead a rebellion to restore the proper order. Who says that men are the only war-like gender? Once again, the HEA works for everyone, and our heroes live to mate another day.

I really liked the first two books in this series but Rogue is very dry and almost boring. The sex, of course, is spectacular.

This story revolves around a lizard queen (with scales and a tail) and her people on Darconia (a world very far from Earth and in the future). The lizards obviously live in a desert environment very like Egypt. The queen recruits a piano teacher from Earth to teach the princess to play. However, this isn't her main reason for brining a single female to Darconia.

The queen is a collector of exotic species and has many slaves. She has gotten it in her head to breed one of these species. You see, the queen is some kind of amphibian and her most desireable slaves are mammals. Therefore no offspring. The other dilemma is that the cat slaves must be excited in order to "grow" and the queen just doesn't do it for them so no sex with the cats for the queen. Hence the subterfuge of a piano teacher for her child.

It's an ok novel just not very exciting.

I love it when I the next book in a series I read is even better than the last book. I don't remember
Warrior (book 2) being quite as cute, funny and smexy as this was, but it has been a (VERY) long time since I read Warrior.

Kyra is a piano teacher who hired by the Queen of the planet Darconia to teach the Princess Zealon to play. After arriving, she is introduced to two of the Queen most prized possessions, Tychar and Trag, who are slaves the Queen purchased. But they aren't really slaves in the literal sense, but more like exotic pets to the Queen. Kyra is immediate drawn to Tychar, especially after his little smile to her gives her an orgasm. Tychar declares he can 'give her joy as she has never known'. And he makes good on his word.

There was also a slightly darker edge to this one, but in all I really enjoyed it. And of course I cannot wait to get to the next book now.

What do you get when you send a piano teacher from Earth to Darconia, a desert like planet with a Lizard Queen?

Obviously more adventure than she, Kyra, ever planned. Throw in some near extinct exotic Zetithian males wearing only a jeweled slave collar and a c*ck ring as their only clothing.

Kyra thought she was only coming to teach Princess Zealon to play piano but Queen Sealia also had an ulterior motive. She wanted to breed her exotic 'pet' cats.

So overall basic plot; sex lots of it, a coup, and a few other minor things.
I do have to warn readers there is one menage scene and alot of snard "semen" fascination so if you are not into that sorta of thing...

However if you are okay with plenty of action between a Terran "human" female and a Zethithian "cat like humanoid with orgasmic fluids" then read on reader. read on.

I did enjoy Kyra and the 'tiger' brothers Tychar and Trag and some of the other characters as well. The humor, jokes, and references were amusing as well.

Book 3 in the Cat Star Chronicles

Kyra travels to another planet to be a piano teacher to a species of lizard-like beings. When she arrives on planet the Queen arranges for feline-like Tychar to be her personal assistant. He will assist her with anything she desires. Even if what she desires is to be his lover.

Tychar and his brother have been enslaved on the planet Darconia for 20 years without female companionship. He's had visions about the woman who will be his mate. So he knows as soon as he meets Kyra that she is that woman.

Just as they start to find happiness together, the Queen is assassinated by a usurper who doesn't want offworlders on the planet. They escape the palace with the Queen's loyal guards and children to find help reclaiming the throne for the Princess.

Rogue is the third book in The Cat Star Chronicles series, by Cheryl brooks. Each book can be read as a stand alone book.

In Rogue, Tychar belongs to the Queen of Draconia, a plant of dinosaur like creatures. Kyra is a human music teacher traveling to the planet to teach the queen's daughter. Neither Kyra or Tychar are looking for romance but romance ensues...and some mystery, intrigue, and lots more secondary characters are introduced. I do love Cheryl's secondary characters....so many possibilities for future books. Highly recommend this book!

So I've had these books forever but I am just now getting around to reviewing them and I am very surprised by the low reviews. I personally absolutely love these books, love everything about them. So anyone who likes Sci-Fi romance, keep an open mind and give this series a chance.

All I can say is WOW! I hadn't read the first books in this series and normally sci-fi isn't my top of the list favorite genre to read. I had no idea how a sci-fi romance would work, and I was happily surprised. This book if totally fun! There is always something completely unexpected around the corner with this romance. The book is very explicit, so there are some who just shouldn't crack the cover of this one. And obviously it's not meant for teens. But for everyone else I'd recommend that you pick this book up. Personally, I'm going to go back and read the earlier books, and I'm definitely looking forward to upcoming books in the series. This book is just plain HOT!

One thing I like about this series (other than the weirdness) is the settings and descriptions of the aliens cultures. I had some issues with the character development of the heroine; she changed too quickly for me to find the changes believable. I think I am also getting bored with the ease with which the characters get together; I understand that this race is very easygoing but I would like there to be some challenges for the couple's relationship to overcome. There are external forces/challenges but I found these ones quite simple to handle in the long run; to wit, these were the shortest chapters in the book.

I've read these books out of order and enjoyed the series premise. This one is not my favorite. All the pop culture references, not a fav of mine under any circumstances, are distracting. I'd rather an author describe something for me independently than utilizing the crutch of comparison. While the sociopolitical elements are nice, the situation with one of the characters is a bit sad and just felt odd. Two brothers, one finds companionship after twenty years and the other is despondent.
