She also wrote the world's longest-running play, the murder mystery The Mousetrap, which has been performed in the West End of London since 1952. A writer during the "Golden Age of Detective Fiction", Christie has been called the "Queen of Crime". She also wrote six novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. In 1971, she was made a Dame (DBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to literature. Guinness World Records lists Christie as the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies.
This best-selling author of all time wrote 66 crime novels and story collections, fourteen plays, and six novels under a pseudonym in romance. Her books sold more than a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation. According to Index Translationum, people translated her works into 103 languages at least, the most for an individual author. Of the most enduring figures in crime literature, she created Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. She atuhored The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theater.

July 15, 2022Agatha Christie (1890-1976) é a escritora de maior sucesso de todos os tempos. E o sucesso continua, mesmo quarenta e seis anos após sua morte (2022), com o relançamento de sua obra no Brasil.
As novas edições de Agatha Christie começaram a ser publicadas em 2014. A caixa 4 da atual série ainda saiu com o selo Nova Fronteira, já substituído pelo HarperCollins Brasil a partir da caixa 5, de 2016. Uma das apresentações é em caixas de três volumes, de que falamos aqui.
Com o lançamento simultâneo de mais uma caixa, a nona, em setembro de 2021, as edições nesta série atingem 27 livros. Também disponíveis avulsas, são sempre muito boas e bem-vindas.
Vamos aos pontos positivos. Esta série atual deve ser uma das mais atraentes edições brasileiras de Agatha Christie já publicadas. Tem excelente projeto gráfico e capas muito coloridas. Mesmo com outra série muito boa, da mesma editora, continua a fazer boa figura.
Já as informações sobre as obras de cada caixa ainda deixam a desejar, mesmo no site da editora. Melhoraram a partir da caixa 7, pelo menos informando que personagens ou detetives atuam em cada título e incluindo uma sinopse, mas ainda são muito padronizadas. Não há maiores referências sobre cada livro e sua inserção na obra de Agatha Christie. Nos livros, é até compreensível que seja assim, em edições com preços mais populares, que tendem a ser simplificadas. Já no site, em julho de 2022, a caixa 9 nem sequer aparecia. Para o site de uma editora deste porte, é muito pouco. Agatha Christie merecia um tratamento à sua altura. E os leitores do século XXI também.
