What’s worse than being stranded at a mountain resort by an avalanche three days before Christmas? Being trapped with your teenage crush—who kissed you and ran away.

Reno Pierce spends all his time creating music in his studio, quite happily alone, but at the insistence of his rom-com-loving dad, he finds himself at a Colorado mountain resort speed dating event. His dad wants Reno to bring his ‘Mr. Right’ home for Christmas, but what he finds instead is his teenage crush. Twelve years ago, he’d been head-over-heels in love with his older brother’s best friend, Tate. His "straight" best friend. But everything changed one magical night, when Tate kissed him like his life depended on it—and then ran away.

Six months after a bad breakup, Tate Boylan is still feeling the damage done to his confidence. Thanks to his hopeless romantic sister, who booked him a quaint mountain cabin and insisted he ‘boost his morale’ with a night of speed dating at The Retreat, he’s feeling much better. Until he sits at a table across from his best friend’s younger brother. The one he’d fallen for as a teen, kissed at a party, and never saw again.

Now that an avalanche has cut the hotel off from the rest of the world, Tate might have a chance to prove to Reno that this time he won’t kiss and run.

Meh. This one was slow going for me.

I had a really hard time believing Reno's older brother never mentioned that his best friend, Tate, lived nearby.

Reno was hurt, I get that, but it's not like Tate ghosted him after a two-year relationship. It was one kiss when they were teenagers before Tate had ever come out.

The way Reno ran off at the end and blocked Tate's number because Tate was delayed by like half an hour was ridiculous and childish.

Also, Tate was supposed to spend one night at the cabin but brought enough eggs, coffee, and bread (plus honey and jam) to have lasted him and Reno four breakfasts, two lunches, and one dinner (plus snacks because Reno was always hungry).

Going with a conservative estimate of two eggs and two slices of toast per person per meal, that's at least 28 eggs and a giant loaf of bread. Who brings that much food for one breakfast meal, especially when the hotel serves breakfast?

I know that's a silly thing to focus on, but I hate when authors treat readers like they're too stupid to notice.

ARC REVIEW

This was a short novella but such an emotional journey for me.

That's because in the beginning I honestly had mix feelings, but I'm so happy I continued reading because then I ended up loving the second part.
Reno had had a crush for Tate his whole life. Tate had kissed him 12 years before and then disappeared.

Reno had never stopped thinking about him. On the other hand, unlike the second chance romance that I usually like, Tate had never thought about him, nor regretted his action or looked for him. He had instead explored his bisexuality thoroughly with many people and had a long relationship with a man he wanted to marry. And plus, when they meet, he hides all of it when Reno asks about those years.

So I didn't quite like Tate, but things changed quite quickly as, thanks to focred proximity in a cabin, Tate started to not only have a strong attraction for Reno but also develop strong feelings for the man Reno was now. In the end, Tate looked at Reno like the most precious thing in the world and he managed to remove every tiny doubt in Reno (and in me)

While Reno had been in love with Tate his whole life and a part of his heart had always hoped and waited for him, Tate was grateful for a second chance he hadn't been looking for and eventually felt regretful for all the years he could have had already spent with Reno. He made it clear very soon that he was serious with Reno, and his gestures in the end were so sweet.

This was a new author for me and I really liked how romantic the writing was in the second half.

A happy little Xmas novella 🎄☃️❄️🌈, part of the Snowed Inn series. I do like L.C. Chase's writing, and would've liked this second chance novella to be a longer length read, filling us in on what happened to Reno and Tate after their first kiss. My favourite L.C. Chase story, the audio version of A Fortunate Blizzard, will forever be one of my fave Christmassy listens, and will be playing in my Audible library 🎧 shortly.

A bit too coincidental for my tastes, but this was a sweet story of reconnecting with a childhood crush and finding there is still chemistry there.

Cute...

So this was an only one bed, snowed in, brothers best friend, and trying so hard to be a romcom story.

Reno has loved Tate his whole life. He gets one kiss when he was 16 and then Tate runs away cause Tate is not out. 10 years later, Reno is at a speed dating event and runs into Tate.

Tate was attracted to Reno, but was scared someone would find out that he was bi.

Of course these two reconnect and fall into love.

This was a quick and cute romance that had its own big "I love you" scene a la alk the romcoms.

Breakfast Included is a brother's best friend, longtime crush forced proximity romance with a fiar amount of steam, a little bit of angst from previous bad relationships and a sweet holiday HEA. It was a quick read and just the right length for a holiday story. It fits in well with the other Snowed Inn stories, but can easily be read standalone.

Meh

It was cute until it's not.
I had trouble with the breakfast (go to my friend Dani's review about the calculation lol) And Reno's childish behavior towards the ending, that was unnecessary drama and super annoying.
Also, the author who writes about their 'love story'? *Snort*
For a short story, this felt too long.
Or maybe it's a 'me' thing.
Well, onward!

Oh this was a sweet, sweet romance. I loved the connection, the characters and their story.
Due to their knowing each other, I had no trouble with the short timeline.
You could feel the chemistry and the sparks.

I would have loved to get to know more of Tates background but it was OK.

And although he has only a small role in this book, I have a small crush on Ricky .... so maybe we can get a full novel with him next (with hockey and Tate and Reno .... pretty please)

All in all a lovely holiday read

This is the second book of the joint series that I've read and I'm really liking how they all revolve around the same time period, it's not an stuck in an avalanche theme it's actually the same avalanche and the same hotel, each author so far has kept to the same overall narrative, and I'm finding it really enjoyable.

I liked this one. Reno and Tate made a good pair. I liked that Reno was still hesitant to trust Tate and the while there was a misunderstanding it was cleaned up pretty quickly.

It was a short story and the guys get together over a couple of days so the fact that they knew each other before hand helped as the getting together was at a faster pace, but it still worked for me.

Enjoyable afternoons read

Review:

This is another story I wanted ( and received) as a gift at Heather's book exchange. Sadly, I think that most of my wish list choices did not quite work for me this year and this is another example although I liked it better than some others. I used to like this author a lot and wanted to catch up with her work. I actually really liked the guys and thought they had sweet chemistry and if they just met at this speed dating event and decided to go from there and see where it takes them, I would not have many problems with this novella. Yes, I know it would have felt like way more insta love and would have been a different story.

However, I would have found it way more believable than what we have here. See, Tate and Reno have history. Their history being - Reno following his older brother and Tate as a puppy and being secretly in love with Tate until Tate decided to kiss Reno and then run away because of that kiss.

Which is fine, anything can happen and I can imagine everyone comes to terms differently with their sexuality. It is the idea that he could not forget the kiss for twelve years so much than when he sees Reno, he is once again madly in love with him, however when he recently moved in the area he would not so much as call Reno to try and renew their communication at least? It was weird, I feel like their past was there just to move the plot where author needed it to go.

A terrific M/M romance for the holidays ! Twelve years later, a second chance.
Our men are in their late twenties, and a remarkable circumstance has them in the same place. Reno's Dad sent him on a speed-dating retreat in Colorado, while Tate's sister sent him to the same place.
* Reno, light brown hair, loose bangs,

blue/gray eyes, is a musician who composes scores and music for TV shows, he's very successful. He's crushed on his brother's best friend since they were teens.
* Tate, tall, lean muscled, a ginger with hazel eyes,

is a scientist/computer expert, and had a bad breakup awhile ago.

There will be no escape from the avalanche, they must face each other. We learn about the fateful kiss twelve years ago. While snowed in at the Inn, the men make the most of hanging out and discover each men still wants the other.

There are events, contests, games, hot springs, and Reno gets to play music for the whole Inn one night. With all of this, the men stay close, and begin with a new kiss and flirting, before things escalate into super sexy times that each guy wanted desperately.

It's a delightful Christmas romance.
ENJOY !

As part of the Snowed Inn multi-author series, Breakfast Included is a standalone book set at the same snowy inn as the rest of the stories. If you have read the other books in the collection, there are probably glimpses of other MCs, but this book works fine without have read the others.

This story didn’t draw me in from the start and, having read other books by the author, I wasn’t expecting that. I never was able to fully embrace the story of Reno and Tate. Their history is in the past and we hear about some of it, but their connection came across as weak to me as it relied on too much that happened off page that never came through enough for me.

Read Michelle's review in its entirety here.

A sweet lovestory about two men who were close as children, then separated for twelve years - add in a bit of seemingly unrequited love, which it totally wasn't, by the way - who meet again by chance at a speed dating event... It's a wonderful story about second chances, true love, and snowglobe perfect winterwonder lands.
I translated the book, so I got a free copy.

This was a fun, good-feel holiday read in Snowed Inn. I was looking forward to reading another book by this author after a long time and I'm glad I did. Reno and Tate meet again at a gay singles speed dating event held in a mountainous resort. Tate was the best friend of Reno's older brother and Reno always had a teen-aged crush on him although Tate identified as straight. All came crashing down when Tate unexpectedly kissed Reno one night and then left early for college the next day.

Now, they are thrown back together again by circumstance and a revived mutual attraction. They are now adults, settled in their lives and careers, but Reno can't shake the fear that anything they might have would be a vacation fling, with him abandoned again. Still, neither man can resist the other. Can they make it work again, this time forever? This book is low-angst, light-hearted, very satisfying, and a perfect read for the holidays.

I really enjoyed reading this one. It's a heartwarming second chance for Reno and his brother's best friend, Tate who kissed him at a party and then ran away, to university. It's been several years since they've seen each other and the shock soon passes for intrigue as they're forced to share a cabin when snowed in.
Several of my favourite tropes right there and I loved how time is taken for them to get used to each other again before anything happens. A bit of a slow burner before things ignite and burn hot between them. It's easy to feel the chemistry they share and that they both want more but there's still that voice in the back of Reno's head saying that he walked away once..... Of course, there's one small moment of angst but it's a sweet HEA for the two men. The author does an amazing job at setting the scene whilst they're stuck at The Retreat. I was easily able to visualise the beautiful scenery and setting of where they were.
Such a wonderful read and a great addition to the series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Breakfast Included from the Snowed Inn multi author series. Tate is Reno’s older brother best friend and Reno followed them around like a puppy when they were kids. Tate kisses Reno years before and runs away. Tate now has a chance again and he’s not going to pass that up. Reno felt forgotten and had never really gotten over it. Loved, loved, loved Tate and Reno. Loved how Tate looked at Reno like he was his whole world and convinced Reno that he was. Overall, a great addition to the series! Well written.

Forced proximity and at Christmas to boot, what can I say? When done right it can bring a sense of realistic warmth to make your cold winter nights cozy. When done wrong it can be riddled with cliches that are a checklist of what not to do. LC Chase has gotten it right, and not just right, but brilliantly heart-stirringly right.

Brother's best friend, best friend's brother . . . however way you see it Reno and Tate shared a kiss that ended in one fleeing and leaving the other heartbroken and probably a bit jaded. I think one thing I loved was the brother knew but off page with Reno only learning of it now rather than then so we know there wasn't the big bro shakedown even though Tate said Riley(the brother) never thought he was good enough for Reno. Some don't like "off page" scenes but I enjoy them because it shows us that there is so much more to characters than what they decide to fill the author in on. And of course that also leaves room for more in the future if the characters decide to tell more😉. Breakfast Included is all about Reno and Tate.

Through some internal monologue we discover the past but the main story is the here and now. The chemistry that lead to that heartbreaking kiss is obviously still there but is it enough? I think we all know this will end in a HEA but to find the journey the men take you will have to read Breakfast Included yourself but trust me, you won't be sorry. There is humor, drama, romance, friendship, and of course heat, 5 elements that make Breakfast Included memorable and a joy to experience.

One One last series note: Snowed Inn is a multi-author series of standalones with the only real follow thru being the avalanche that traps the main characters at The Retreat. The entries can be read in any order although if I'm completely honest I'm glad I read RJ Scott's Stop the Wedding first simply because there are the occasional wedding(or non-wedding) comments, none of which really effect or play a role in any of the other entries but I was glad I knew what they meant having read Wedding first. But that's more a personal preference of mine than an actually need to know scenario. I still have a couple of entries to read but so far they are all topnotch.

Always like second chance story - and because of their shared-history, I can believe Reno and Tate easily reconnect. BUT, Reno's insecurity (and jumping to conclusion) in the final act is a bit annoying (okay, fine, I can understand he has trust issues, but what he does is such a dramaaaaa). Oh, and too many sex scenes for a holiday story (it's my thing, I always prefer sex scenes to be minimum, maybe off page, or only one in holiday story.)

What’s worse than being snowed in with a bunch of failed speed dating dates? Being locked in with your brother’s straight best friend and teenage crush. The same guy you haven’t seen in 12 years - since he literally ran away after he kissed you senseless. But that straight guy you crushed on? He isn’t as straight as you thought he was – which you didn’t know because your brother is meddling meddler who meddles.

Tate regrets running away from Reno 12 years ago and seeing him on the other side of the table at a speed dating event is the second chance he didn’t think he would get but doesn’t want to pass up. His sister sending him to The Retreat to help him get out of the funk he’s been in since his breakup 6 months ago is turning out to be the best thing to happen to him in a long time.

Reno is a composer. He spends his days making music in his studio on a hill. The last thing he wanted was to come to the Rainbow Inn speed dating event that his eternally romantic father sent him to, but here he is. And here Tate is, sitting across from him, twelve years later, looking even better than he used to. He just needs to get through the rest of this event and then he can go home and push Tate back into the box in his memories where he belongs.

The forces at work at the Inn have other ideas, though, and an avalanche is just the thing Tate and Reno need to find their way back to one another for a second chance at love. Will Tate prove to Reno that he won’t run this time? Can Reno let his walls down and open his heart to Tate? What happens when the roads are cleared and it’s time to go back to real life?

Breakfast Included was a continental smorgasbord of spice hot enough to melt even the biggest avalanche, snowball fights, fun & festive drinks, a trip in the haunted elevator and a second chance at romance that neither Tate nor Reno thought would ever happen.

I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and, as always, my review is unpaid and honest.

Reno Pierce attends a speed-date event at a mountain resort in Colorado, and is astonished that one of his dates for the night is Tate Boylen - the best friend of his professional hockey-playing older brother and, twelve years ago, the man on whom he had the biggest crush. But twelve years ago, Tate broke Reno's heart when Tate gave him a kiss to end all kisses and then just disappeared without explanation. Catching up with the current goings-on in Tate's life is a touch-and-go affair, as Reno still holds feelings for Tate deep-down in his heart. When an avalanche blocks the only entrance to and from the resort and everyone attending the dating event is stranded at the resort, Tate invites Reno to spend the duration of their forced detention with him in his room. But has too much water passed under the bridge for the two to forget the past and come to grips with what their hearts are telling them at this moment?

Breakfast Included is a very sentimental and touching romance! I especially enjoyed the setting of the plot in this novel. The imagery of being in the snowy mountains near Christmas-time makes for a truly cozy and uplifting background for a reunion of souls. The main characters, Tate and Reno, find themselves in a rather awkward situation several years after an intentional, but eventually forsaken, intimacy reminds them both of all the good things they could have had together. The theme of the book is gentle reminder that affection and true love can last longer than a lifetime… and that true love is strong enough to eventually heal the sense of abandonment and betrayal in a relationship.

A heartwarming holiday romance! 5 stars!

Have Toast with Strawberry Jam!

Love! LOVE! The Snowed Inn Series! I have caught all of them out thus far except 5 night Stand which is next. ( I know a bit out of order...)
I really enjoyed meeting Reno and Tate in speed dating. I love stories where they were into each other a long time ago maybe even still. In this case, it made you kind of feel bad for Reno and not like Tate as much because after years of hanging out with Reno's brother and Reno was often the tag along, Tate kisses him. He can't handle things so he ran. Reno was crushed. Sound like so many love stories? They meet at speed dating. They are thrown together for a night until they realize avalanche was really bad and continued snow isn't helping. Slowly they start to hash things out. Reno is still very skidding as anyone would be about being hurt. They do activities and have fun together. They end up kissing. Eventually kissing leads to more. After a whole vacation together, they are ready for more. Tate goes to check out but there was drama at check out. Reno is still so scared about losing him again that he was sure he had. He left and blocked the man who had become the love of his life. How to tell your family?? A family that knows him. A family whose brother is still friends with Tate.
But Reno who was a composer/songwriter could not write a thing and couldn't talk about it.
Now in most love stories, this is about where the one in leave walks in and Tate does. But this story is so much more. I enjoyed this Snowed Inn alot. READ IT! To find out so much more!
My favorite story though is Checking it Twice which is the love story of Wat and Sutter.
I give both of them 10/10.

This is one of the several stories in the “Snowed Inn” stories by several different authors. This one was written by LC Chase. I enjoyed reading this one since the trope was “2nd Chance”. It’s wonderful how different authors would come with different stories which is centered around “The Rainbow Inn” with the avalanche, the elevator ghost, and being stuck during Christmas. A gay hallmarkesque Christmas TV movie series featuring this series should be made! I’d give this one 5 stars! A wonderful reading!

The story focuses on Reno, a musician who was sent to do the “Speed Dating” event at the Rainbow Inn by his father was surprised to see his high school crush, Tate. Tate was also sent to do the event by his sister to get over a bad relationship. What happened between them was when they were at school, Tate came up to Reno and kissed him but disappeared immediately. Tate was Reno’s older brother’s best friend. Immediately after that, Tate left for college and Reno had to nurse a broken crush heart. Fast forward to the event, Reno was glad but had his heart guarded. He was afraid that Tate would run away. With the avalanche removing any path to the outside world, Reno and Tate were stuck at the resort. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read to find out what happens!

Reno and Tate have been aware of and have had feelings for one another for years. But when they were in their teens they were in very different places in terms of being out. Just before Tate went to college he kissed the heck out of Reno, got scared and ran away. That left Reno in his feelings and embarrassed. They have not seen each other in years when they both wind up being pushed to go to a speed dating event and happen upon one another unexpectedly. Both are affected by their first contact in years. They both still have feelings for one another. Tate is hopeful, Reno is cautious. The avalanche that keeps them in each other's company offers them an opportunity to get close again as adults, both out and both knowing that the other wants him. A misunderstanding provides a little hiccup on their way to their HEA but they are in a different place and Tate is willing to try now in a way he was not mature enough to when they were younger and they are able to resolve it. This time they take advantage of the opportunity to go for their HEA.
