Strangled is fantastically creepy and unsettling erotic horror that was both enticing and terrifying. One of my favorite aspects of this story is the creepy atmosphere. From the range in POVs, to the descriptive language and setting of the story I was instantly immersed into a story that was no where near a traditional romance, which I was completely transfixed by.
Another stellar component to the success of this novella is the drastically different POVs between the voyeur, Lucian and the object of his desire, Lyken. They are so different from one another, but they share a mutual curiosity, which makes their connection all the more intense.
Strangled is brilliant in how the distinctive language creates such an unsettling vibe where I was never fully comfortable or secure while reading, which was an exciting experience. My suspense was heightened when Lyken also had many reservations about his new home, regarding the unusual sounds and movements.
Unbeknownst to Lyken he is not alone, there is someone watching and waiting for his moment to reveal himself. Lucian and Lyken's interactions are intense, steamy and dangerous, which made for a fascinating story of possession and dominance.
Overall I loved the slow building of suspense and terror throughout this story. It is a story that instantly drops you into a world that is both harsh and unpredictable. I loved the experience of reading this story and cannot wait for what comes next...

Lucian lived in the attic, where they used to put him.
He quickly learned to crawl in the walls, making friends with the spiders and the mice.
And now Lyken is there, he owns the house, he owns Lucian...
Or it's the other way around?
At the party, Lyken get involved with some random guy.
Lucian catches the guy and kills him.
There's a lot of sex, the glory hole type.
Lyken discovers the dead bodies, he knows Lucian killed them, but he still chose staying with Lucian, just for the amazing blowjobs he did to him.

I kept expecting some sort of paranormal twist, but nope, this was just pure contemporary ‘murder house’ insta-romance. 😑
The first part was actually kinda fun, but then eye roll-inducing stuff started happening — and I’m not even talking about that one scene where the MC fist-fucked a freaking hole in the wall while masturbating — and just. Would. Not. Stop. 🙄
As to the writing… imagine a high-schooler going crazy with a thesaurus and let’s just leave it at that.

this was seriously unhinged and i fucking loved it 💀 i'm not even gonna pretend it's particularly good but it absolutely earned its permanent place in my brain shelf. i spent the first part of the book thinking mans was a spider and this was gonna be monster smut. i was very wrong and this is really disturbing but god if it didn't hit. if you're looking for a bizarre novella to up your challenge count before time runs out... you can thank me later. or scream at me for doing this to you. either way i co-sign this hot mess idc. the spice made up for how weird it was. i'll never be able to make another "i'm in your walls ooga booga" joke again without having immediate flashbacks to this. whew sometimes i wonder if i need a bath in holy water for the things i enjoy

The perfect Halloween read....
It's my first read from this author and I didn’t know what to expect.
But it surprised me in the best way.
I could really feel the creepiness of the house, the sensation of being watched, the burning need.... but mostly I felt the loneliness of our two characters.
Sadness is something i didn't think i would have felt reading this story, but that's the amazing thing about villains, monsters.... they have a way to lure you in their coweb showing you a glimpse of humanity underneath the darkness.
So yeah, I really enjoyed Strangled and I totally recommend it 😏😈

If you want a spooky spicy MM read in time for Halloween, Strangled is for you. It's just how I like my books deliciously dark and divine.
All is not what ot seems in the house; what lurks in the dark? Let me tell you; I embrace what lurks in the darkness because damn, it got. Some things l will never look at the same again.
Lucian is not at all what I expected. He's far more. He is controlling, demanding, possessive, and a complete stalker. He will make your private bits go beep, beep.
I love one of the side characters, Cadence. He is going to be a fan favorite. I look forward to what comes next.

Strangled by Marie Ann has just confirmed my love of all things dark, disturbing & twisted! this is a super voyeuristic romance. That is claustrophobic and absolutely thrilling. At this point I'm questioning my sanity and if I should call my therapist? Because this was hot as hell!
Strangled is the perfect Halloween read with this deliciously dark storyline. It was super eerie and gave me so many chills! but in a really good way. Lucian was the ultimate creeper. I'm not even gonna lie! I wouldn't mind him creeping on me... Hello Mr Dominance. I loved, loved, loved the scenes with Lucian and Lyken. I certainly won't be able to look at a hole in the wall the same way ever again! 👀

This was such a cool, disturbing, and twisted Novella. It gave me Phantom of the Opera/Beauty & the Beast trope vibes. I had nothing short of a great time; I loved the way that Marie integrated the spiders into this story too by the way. And call me crazy, but the ending was pretty cute.

This is my first Marie Ann book and my goodness it blew my mind! I very quickly became a woman obsessed with the way this was written and how the vivid imagery made me feel both enthralled and unsettled.
Strangled is a very dark, horror erotic MM novella, I started with this one because the eerie and depraved vibes of it were calling out to me, and it delivered on all fronts. Being a dark romance reader, as I'm sure a big chunk of us in this community can relate to, I often feel like I've maybe read most things and shock factor is hard to come by, but this was something so different to anything I've read before. So completely original and unique.
This really isn't a traditional romance in the slightest for Lyken and Lucian. The ownership, domination, obsession and possessive feelings that Lucian has is next level, and his dark thought processes he goes through in his efforts to have Lyken are captivating, and similarly the motions that Lyken goes through during the novella kept my eyes glued to my kindle because I just had to know how this all played out and how would these two men finally collide after dark and bloody games in the walls of the murder house.
I feel like I don't want to risk giving away too much of the plot because it is one of those books where the atmosphere gets you all wrapped up in it. If I had to sum it up I'd say it was totally unhinged in the best way, incredibly dark and depraved, unsettling but addictive, the spice was 🌶🌶🌶 and I'm still in total awe of how unique this whole thing is. Definitely earned a permanent place in my brain when I think of dark romance! And yeah I'll absolutely be reading more Marie Ann books!

OMG! That was a creepy, intense and insanely erotic novella that had me gripping my kindle tightly, biting my nails with anticipation and gasping at all of the shockingly twisted moments throughout. This phenomenal author takes on one hell of a dark and creepy rollercoaster ride filled with an eeriness that both excited me and frightened me, continually giving me goosebumps along the way. I was titillated by the suspenseful buildup of what was sure to be an explosively erotic and frightening ending.
I definitely felt like a voyeur throughout as the peep holes/glory hole moments were some of the hottest scenes I have read in a while.
Brilliantly written story with fantastic characters that are slightly damaged and definitely unhinged, and with a storyline that is dark, brutal, violent, gritty and disturbing and I loved every deliciously depraved second of it. Perfect for the spooky season.

Strangled is definitely not your textbook romance novella. It’s different, deranged and just all around depraved.
We all know Marie is not afraid to write about the touchy subjects and she definitely delivers that in this erotic, horror-filled, MM novella. Marie pushed the boundaries of what romance is with this novella; she definitely gave us something spooky and just all around messed up.
We meet Lucian and Lyken in Strangled. Lyken moves into the Marius Murder House, but doesn’t know there’s a stranger living there already. Lucian lurks in the walls and watches his stranger; becoming obsessed with making Lyken, his.
My mind is honestly blown when it comes to this novella; I had no idea where Marie was going to go with this book when she originally started talking about it, and she definitely gave us something I don’t think anyone has read before. If you want to pick up this book, check the TW’s!

Strangled is a spicy MM horror novella that will make your skin crawl in that way you totally want it to. (I think it’s the spiders lol)
It’s dark and dirty and definitely fucked up. There’s voyeurism and a glory hole and one of our hero’s is scarred and damaged and extra possessive and I am so here for it.
Worth noting: As someone who does not vibe with spiders AT ALL I was excited to find I wasn’t super bothered by this spider centric story.

WOW this was a pleasant spooky-meets-possessive-murderous-BF surprise.
Even though the bulk of the book took place over one long night, it didn’t feel rushed or unrealistic as far as development between the characters went. Length wise it was perf even though I didn’t want it to end. It was just long enough to build tension, chemistry, and resolve the mystery, but not long enough that the MCs were forced to examine their own inner demons or the consequences of their new reality.
No anxiety.
No major moral dilemmas
🤌🏽 Just straight up debauchery, yeeting, & morally grayish acts with no time to examine the morality of it all. THAT is EXACTLY what I want for my fictional characters 🥹 to live HEA in their little bubble of darkness.

Lyken buys a The Murder House, named creatively for yes- A MURDER that happened there - which was real bloody & never solved. His friends think he’s crazy, but he doesn’t believe in ghosts. But… something IS going on with his new house & that something is a v possessive murder trauma baby whose been alone for like EVER & is best friends with spiders. TBH this book may have changed my opinion on arachnids… or it did at least while I was reading 😂🕷🕸

This is the perfect Halloween read with this deliciously dark storyline. It was super eerie but in a really good way. Lucian was the ultimate creeper but I love him so much. Lucian has grown up alone and making his home and spiders a part of him. Then you have Lyken coming into his world and a instant connection he gravitates to. The PEEPHOLES 😮💨🫠 are some of the sexiest scenes that will live rent free in my head!

You never know what you're going to get within the pages of a Marie Ann story and I am proud to say that that statement rings true with this novella. Imagine you buy an old, beat up house, and then you start hearing things, feeling things, and thinking things that seem impossible. But are they? Could there really be a HUMAN BEING living within the walls of your home? And better yet... could you grow to crave him? Want him? The lines are blurred and your mind will be too. I really enjoyed this spooky ride and I think you will too, but don't go in looking for a swoony romance.. you won't find it in this spider infested attic.

A unique horror novella!
This novella was a recommendation by a good friend. Marie Ann is a new author to me, and what better way to try out her writing style than a novella? This was the most unique novella I’ve ever read! It was short, but it had the depth I’m looking for in a story. Color me impressed! I rarely give novella’s a 5 star rating as there’s rarely enough time to create that depth I’m craving. Marie did it with this! This is an atypical MM horror romance with a very interesting ending. Fantastic job Marie!

Strangled is a MM erotic horror novella.
I've loved the previous books by Marie Ann so I was keen to dive into this book. Even though I had no idea what to expect, horror isn't exactly my happy place. But this book absolutely sunk it's teeth into me. It was so captivating and twisted.
Lyken and Lucian's story is not for the feint of heart and I don't mean for the death and depravity, because c'mon we're totally here for that. I mean the spiders. Thankfully I'm not arachnophobic and I really enjoyed this element to the book.
If you're looking for a short novella read with bite, then you absolutely need to dive into Strangled.

This novella was all I needed, it was creepy , hot, and m/m.. like that right there is one of my fav combos !! Seriously the vibe of this book was amazing , it felt like I had a spider web on me at one point 🕸😅 Both of these characters were amazing , and seriously obsessed with Lucian and his “friends”🕷 if you love horror vibes this is up your alley!!
