Albany lives in Michigan where she's happily married to her high school sweetheart. She spends most of her time juggling her four children's extracurricular activities, with her nose stuck in a book. When not reading you can find her writing her very own book boyfriends. Albany's passion is writing romance with real characters that are far from perfect, but always seem to find their own happily ever afters.
I don’t even know what to write about this story. Would I read it again? Nope. But I loved the unique storyline and it was a perfectly creepy, sexy novella for this time of year.
Please go read Isabella's review because it’s much better than my attempt!
This is a pretty darn good Halloween-esque/scary vibes smutty novella!
It all started with a game.
Well, it's not a game technically. These girls were playing around with an Ouija board and then realized that there was someone lurking on the top floor when there shouldn't be anyone in the house. Then, a string of mysterious deaths revolved around the heroine. And she might be next!
Oh and there's also some satisfying smut scene which going to make you feel conflicted, especially considering how it ended.

Disassembled Creatures de Albany Walker
Argumento:
Albany walker is one of my favourite authors and this book sure dose not disappoint. If your after a spooky Halloween book then this is diffently a read for you. Would definitely recommend.
I got this one after glancing at the newsletter email. I saw boogeyman and got click happy. Its short and not RH. Not that it matters, I enjoyed it. As soon as I say the name Lethe, I automatically thought of the river. Creepy but not too creepy. I didn't get why he revealed his name like that. I thought it would've been a last-minute whisper thing. Death, murder, stalking. It was a nice Halloween short. Let the spookfest continue.

Disassembled Creatures had me stuck from page one! I have wanted to read Albany Walker's books for quite some time, and when I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book I am pleased to say it was a perfect first!
There is a suspense/thriller vibe along with a SPICY romance and twists and turns will have you on the edge of your seat!
This alone has me obsessed and i cant wait to read all of her books!
If you are looking for a creepy Halloween read then this is the book for you. Lethe discovers what happens when you bleed on a Ouija board. Let’s just say avoid it if you can. The story was well written and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Una locura paranormal que, sí bien fue adictivo mientras lo leía, no será trascendental en absoluto. ¿Cómo un demonio cree que puede hacer las cosas a su gusto con una humana y luego con su mamá? Lo único sorprendente es el final.
My problem with this book is the age. The fact that they are in high school completely takes me out of it. It feels too young and immature and even for a novella it was hard to catch any sort of feelings at all for anyone.
TW - ouija board use, murder, parents making the decision to remove their child from life support (scs, mentioned), occult, cheating (past, sc on the FMC, mentioned)
Tropes - halloween, horror, murder mystery, dark, paranormal
This was fun but the ending felt empty. Not a HEA and somewhat of a HFN. I think an epilogue would have done this justice; I know it's a novella but the ending felt quite abrupt. I would still rec this for anyone looking for an inbetween book, spooky / halloween read, novella or something fun.
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

Some games shouldn’t be played. Yet when Lethe participates, what has been summoned might have just found exactly what it wanted. And nothing will hinder its path, especially not blood.
“Do you want me to pretend to take it from you?”
“We both know it’s not the truth. You want me as badly as I want you, or you wouldn’t be here.” He leans down so his mouth is right over mine. “But I promise I can be really fucking convincing.”
I was seduced by the exquisite cover, but the words were all this author and they had me intrigued from start to end. Wonderfully written and mysterious, I had no real idea how this Halloween horror would play out.
You’ll get no heads up from me except I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. It was hot as hell especially for a novella that had an actual story and build up. The ending may have been questionable, but I give zero fucks, because Theo is everything I want in a villain!
Lethe and her friends wanted to have a little fun, well 2 of the 4 wanted to have some fun so they brought out a Ouija board after all its just a game nothing bad can happen right. Well, they were all very wrong, after one of the girls started calling upon spirit crazy things start to happen, Lethe had, had enough of this game and thinking that 2 of the girls planned this all out to scare the crap out of her and it was working grabbing her other friend she heads for the door and when she's at her car she notices a shadow in the window upstairs and then the door closing without anyone touching it. Well, the next day she finds out 1 girl was dead and the other wasn’t going to make it. All because of a game the boogeyman has come to play and he wants her, but why does he want Lethe and will she figure it out or will he catch her by surprise. In this lesson never mess with the spirit world and leave the Ouija boards alone, will Lethe make it out of this nightmare come to life alive or will someone be contacting her spirit with a Ouija board in the future? Wow wow wow wow, I could not put this book down Albany has done it again just when I didn’t think I could love her words anymore she writes another amazing story. This book will have you on the edge of your seat and gripping the pages to turn them faster and faster, so many twist that you won't see coming.
So this was supposed to be a Halloween read, but I got distracted by other pretties, but I have read it now, and it's creepy, suspenseful and unexpected but not really, you know.
It was a good short read and the ending is not that happy so don't go reading this thinking it's a romance, that's the only warning I'm giving, you have to read it!
Just a simple game amongst friends to kick off some early Halloween fun. Only the game wasn't what Lethe had signed up for and definitely not what the rest of them had hoped for. Deaths tend to place a damper on things and when they are of the people you know and who are closest to you. . . well, it gets a bit scary.
What ghost have they unleashed on the sleepy town? Do ghosts even exist? It was just a silly cardboard game with a pointer, why's this happening? Happy Halloween. . .
"I'll be her shadow."
This was such an interesting read with all the chills and spookiness of a Halloween novella! Not to mention the mystery and suspense of what's going on and why's it happening? Are the deaths homicides or freak accidents?
Lethe is caught on the very edge of being eighteen and trying to mature a bit. Figuring out she may no longer like certain people or want to be close to them anymore. Part of growing up is leaving behind people who no longer help to raise you up.
In the middle of everything that's happening Lethe has a very handsome guy walk into her life. She's unsure about his motives but something about him is drawing her in. The heat between the two of them is incredible and the chemistry had me hooked. I love Albany's writing and this novella did not disappoint!
This is a darker romance read! There are deaths and mentions of how the person died, no crazy in-depth details but some are slightly gory. There's language and the FMC starts out as seventeen but nothing sexual happens until after she's eighteen! Loved the very spicy MF action in the novella and enjoyed the single POV being from Lethe's.
Now with the ending. . .I need more! This novella could be book one in a series if Albany wanted to continue with the cast. You will understand when you read it!
Enjoy the dark romance novella with all the Halloween spookiness and the boogeyman! Don't forget to give the author some stars!
Not a bad Halloween novella. If you don’t read YA, like me normally, let it be known that Lethe is 17 then turns 18 on Halloween and we don’t find out how old Theo is. Probably quite old though since he was summoned via Oiuja Board. Age gap like that is not my cup of tea, but you do you. They have sex (detailed) and I don’t like reading about YAs doing that so if you pretend they’re both in their like mid-20s or older, the sex is 1.5/5 on spice level for me.
Lethe is your typical senior. She plays the Ouija Board game with a few friends and they summon a boogeyman. All of a sudden, people she knows start dying including her friends.
She meets a stranger while she’s out getting dinner, who later turns out is Theo, the thing her friends were trying to summon before they died. He killed them to have his form and now wants Lethe.
The ending had me confused. First off though, let me just say I love her mom. She shows how much she cares for her. When Theo threatens to kill Lethes mom, he tells Lethe to either force her mom to forget her or he kills her instead.
Lethe ends up having powers? Theo calls her “The Goddess of Oblivion, the River of Forgetfulness”. She makes her mom forget her and that’s the end of the book. This isn’t like a slow build up with details of how she has powers and why Theo really wants her, so it ends in a cliffy? There has to be a second part.
The blurb sounded interesting and it was a quick read, but I’m not quite hooked to read more if there are others coming out.

Lethe got talked into a stupid party game. Ouija board, dark basement, candles, the whole bit. But they were interrupted before they could close it up. First 1 friend died and another was injured. Then neighbors were killed. Then her ex. Whatever it is it's getting closer.
Spoilers ahead. This is an odd novella. It's like it tried to be an x rated episode of Supernatural. I didn't care for how young she was- literally just turned 18. As in that night. She is too young to be making forever kinds of decisions. And pressured into those decisions, too, to save others. Not a decision made out of affection for him. The entire steamy scene was just her avoiding grief, and some lust due to intrigue. It is in no way romantic. What he did was abusive: isolated her, made her deny her own family, took away anything with ties to anyone else, and then leave everything she knew behind. I think this may be the first thing I've read by this author I didn't care for. As a DV survivor, though, the layout hits too many red flags to enjoy the mystery. All I see is a predator taking advantage of a child. If this were a series where she learned more about herself, stood up to him, and he developed as a character? Maybe.
OHHHMYGOSH I'm having a hard time trying to assemble my thoughts because I really can't say enough good things about Disassembled Creatures but let me just start off by saying WOW....... i mean it's been a long-ass time since I stumbled upon a novella that was THIS good and soooo very well-written and this book exceeded all of my exceptions!!
Like, it has such great potential to be the first installment in a phenomenal duology or a series of A Touch of Darkness's scope (if the writer were to add some angst and a handful of more spice), like seriously, i KID YOU NOT WHEN I SAY, if the author decided to make it longer, I would be the first in the line to read it and i can confidently say, I'd love it!
Disassembled Creatures is the perfect novella for Halloween. Creepy, scary and intriguing, this gripped me from the beginning. I was anxious for Lethe as everything is happening around her and assumed things weren't as they seemed, but definitely didn't see that ending coming! I love when I'm reading a story like this and trying to figure out what is going on, but have no idea and am not sure what to expect with every turn of the page. I'm kind of hoping there is more to come with this one at some point.
I started this book without reading a blurb or anything else about it. I quickly realized it was a novella, and a spooky one! Now, I’m not the type to watch scary movies or read horror books, but this one kept my attention the whole way through. Great read for Halloween! There’s a spirit board (Oiuja), murder, unexplained sounds and shadows, steamy hotel room shenanigans and a very interesting ending that left me with a lot of questions. I would absolutely love to find out this is an intro to a new series.
the heck this was actually interesting! the premise was something i hadn’t seen before and the execution maintained mystery and intrigue until the end! the writing was great too- a heck of an improvement from most novellas/short stories, especially the ones ive read lol. I wouldnt say i’d want this as a full-length; i think this was a well paced storyline but i wouldnt mind an extra chapter or two just for the sake of enjoying the story and wanting to dive into the world a bit more. this was a slay, yay :) 👻
Albany can do no wrong in my eyes but for this to be a novella, she had me hooked from the first page. I loved the "bad guy" a lot more than I should. Might be questioning my mental health but oh well!
Be ready though because by the end you'll be screaming "GIVE ME MORE!"
If you want a quick read (took me an hour and a half) with all the spooky feels and a really 🔥spicy scene this is the book for you!
Loved it. Had me glued to the story. A fantastic heart gripping Hollow Eve story
Albany Walker know how to throw a twist for this story . This book was excellent from start to finish . Grab it and see how both the heroine and Hero are connected. Have you played the Wija board. Do you know what happens. See how Lethe does a few sacrifices, how one drop of blood during the game connected her to the spirt . Theo and Lethe story is heart gripping, lots happened.
