Melody Men say women are the weaker sex but would a man have kept writing to his crush after years of silence from said crush? No! He would’ve given that up and moved on! Instead, I powered forward, writing letter after letter to Benson Charles as he served our country. Sure, he might’ve been mad that when we were ten, I named him Biscuit, but honestly, is that something to hold a grudge over for a decade? He’s back in town and say he’s here for good and I'm going to be his. He says it’s to protect me from a serial killer who is hurting Harrisville citizens and truthfully, I think I have a better chance at finding the serial killer than I do of keeping my heart intact. Frank Trying to get a woman to forget the past is harder than pushing an elephant through a needle’s eye. Pretty sure that’s like the eleventh commandment. Here’s the deal though, Melody did write me a boat load of letters and yes, I read them like a lifeline to get me through each day. I should’ve answered them but I’m a piss poor writer surrounded by other stupid men. I kept my mouth shut with the theory that action speak louder than words only I spent so many years up in the sky for the Navy while she was at college that I didn’t have time to show Melody I loved her. Things are different now but in between trying to convince Melody that my intentions are serious, I have to catch a serial killer.

1.5 Estrellas!

explicitly hot

Super fast read with a dirty talking alpha who’s mouth is filthy hot!

Great characters, hilarious dialogue and great banter.

It’s a yes from me.

The couple: Frank (Biscuit) and Melody

Romance trope: best friend's brother
Series: Chased
Length: 94 pages

Plot: Biscuit, now known as Frank, is finally home from his time in the military, but Melody isn't as glad to see him as she thought she'd be. She wrote him letters all the time that he was gone and he never responded, not once. For all she knows, he didn't even read them. But he's back now and ready to claim the now grown-up Melody. It seems like she might be in danger though - there's a serial killer running loose and it's up to Frank to figure out whodunnit.

Commentary: I never felt like there was a good reason for Biscuit to not answer Melody's letters. I really don't think he ever fully explained himself adequately. I did, however, like the addition of the murder mystery and Frank's acceptance of the police chief title.

This romance has been years in the making. Frank aka Biscuits and Melody skirting around each other for years. He thought she was too young for the thoughts he was having towards her so he joined the Military. Melody wrote to him often while he was away. When he gets back and only slightly acknowledges her she's had enough. She decides to get on with her life. Frank doesn't like that one bit.
Something sinister happens and Frank has to protect Melody at all cost.

Chasing Us de Ella Goode serie Chasing libro 2

Argumento:

Melody

¡No!

Me resultó flojo.

No me gustaba Frank/Bisquit y tampoco me emocionaba verlo junto a Melody.

“Biscuit! I wasn’t prepared for Melody to throw herself in my arms. I also didn’t think she’d slap me. Both happened so quickly that I’m a little off center. I rub my cheek and stare after the blonde who is disappearing into the crowd.
I figured she’d ignore me because I hadn’t written back to her. Over the years, she’d send me a letter now and then, keeping me up to date on the stuff happening here in town. I’d compose replies in my head like I’d make a shit-a*s partner for someone like you since half my missions are secrets and If another guy ever looks at you longer than two seconds, I’m taking his eyes and Good thing you admitted that George was your neighbor’s Rottweiler because I was about to come home and murder someone, but they never made it onto the paper.”

Frank or Biscuit, and Melody have known each other for years but he didn’t want to deter her from her dreams and goals. During his deployment Melody wrote to Frank, sent him gifts…he ignored her. After years of being ignored, she’s ready to move on, however Frank’s now ready to claim her.

The vet is a guy. I knew it from the minute the word came out of her mouth. She’s interested in him, too, or she wouldn’t have brought him up.
“Why are we sitting outside a pet clinic? We don’t even have a pet.”
Because I thought I should at least know the name of the man I intend to murder for trying to steal Melody while I was away serving the country.

“Don’t talk about my sister.”
“I didn’t say a thing about her.”
“You said we. That means you and her.”
“'We’ could mean you and me if you wanted it to, but you spent years rejecting me, and so I moved on.”
“I’m going to tell Emma she was your second choice.”
“Speak to her with those words and I’ll have to kill you. I’ll be sad about it, and I’ll cry at your funeral, but you’ll have to die.”

So when there's a murder that happens in their small town, Frank will use this opportunity to get closer to her, whilst protecting her.

“She slams the door shut, and the frame is still vibrating a minute later as I stare in shock and surprise at what just happened. Was it the marriage comment? She doesn’t want to get married? Is it that she doesn’t want to be attached at the hip? I told her it was temporary. I know women these days are independent and shit so you’ve got to walk carefully and not say all the intrusive thoughts in your head like I’m going to handcuff you to my desk and piss on your leg so everyone knows you belong to me.
I’m civilized. I’ll get the ring, and the collar will just be for home, but I’m keeping those thoughts to myself until I fix this murder investigation.”

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

This starts pretty much right after Chasing You ends, the chief of police Burke has been relieved of duty and the interim mayor asks Frank to step in as chief. He’s thinking of it when he and Vincent come upon two murder victims. He takes up the mantle of chief and starts to investigate the murders. The victims are the new vet in town who has dated quite a few local women and his vet technician. Along with police chief duties and finding a killer he has to woo Melody. She’s still mad at him for how he treated her when he came home. He’s a man of action no good with words so he never wrote back Melody and thinks he’s to dark for her. But with a killer on the lose he’s worried about her and that’s his way in with her. He pretty much moves himself into her house and is with her as much as possible. The more they talk the more Melody sees he really does care for her. They finally share their first kiss, a first for both of them, dual virgins! Frank has always had some dark desires for Melody and once she hears them she is all in, their sexy times are hot with a little bit of kink and dominance. In between sex Frank does work on the murders and figures out the vet was the target and his vet tech walked in on the murderer and was killed to keep her silent. Frank follows the leads and discovers it’s the old vet, Doc Wells, he retired and sold his practice to the new doctor, but when his retirement didn’t go as planned he wanted his practice back. The new vet laughed at him and refused, so he killed him. Somehow he figures out Frank knows he’s the killer, he kidnaps Melody but Frank arrives and saves her and arrests Doc Wells. Epilogue on their wedding day, Melody is expecting a baby and after the wedding Frank gifts her her dream house built next to Emma and Vincent’s house.
The identity of the killer was a surprise I thought it was going to be a jealous woman. It was nice to be wrong.

💖BETTER THAN 1? DEF. YES.
😐FUNNIER THAN 1? Nawww.

🅾🅾TRIGGER WARNING- The h has diabetes (type II), kidnapping of h, off-page murder.🅾🅾

🤎 MELODY-

🖤 FRANK "BISCUIT"

THE GOOD-

✅So, guys, I think this book was DEF. different than her other books. The couple were more in sync with each other than Vince and Emma.

✅This is a romantic-suspense book.

🅾THE BAD-

✅This book felt rushed, I mean, because of the whole murder mystery thing, this book should have been around 300 pages.

✅While the dynamics of this couple is BETTER than Vince and Emma. I did not like the fact that the him becoming a cop was accepted so easily by the h.

✅Like, I don't know how to put this coz I'm bad with English, but , this book was rushed af.

✅The page time that the couple got with each other WITH the whole murder mystery thing was..... it felt like mixing two books.

🅾SPOILERS-

✅Dual virgins.
✅Check triggers above.
✅No-cheating.
🔥Smut- 10/10.
✅This is a murder mystery too. It's both good and bad, depends on how you look at it.
✅HEA- Married and Pregnant.

In 'Chasing You', I wrote about how I was excited but apprehensive for this novella. At the beginning I was naming the H Frank, but then I gave in just like Melody did, and he is most definitely a sweet Biscuit. It takes A LOT to get me to forgive the H for the long separation, and I mentioned that there better be a very good reason, well there were several good reasons. His fighting for Melody made me swoon and want to hug this giant, stupid, sweet man. Melody made him grovel and fight, and face him spitting what she felt, and how he hurt her. I found that refreshing and I rooted for her, but then when he would wince and his shoulders would slump in hurt and regret I felt bad, and that was when I forgave him. He always love her deeply and it showed!
There were several very good reasons for why he left (never thought I would say that), but there is one that made me think, ok, yes I understand, (it has to do with age, him being an 18 year old man lusting for a 15 year old girl...so he fled, and wanted to come back, but uncle sam kept sending him on missions
This story is safe
no cheating
no OM/OW
has double virgins H is around 28 years old and h is around 25years old.
Each others one and only, they are each others first everything, including first kisses YES!
HEA
Oh, and there is a serial killer and murders to solve too!
I am relieved and recommend this duet, 'Chasing You', and 'Chasing Us'

Was Chasing Us better than the first one!
Absolutely, hands down!

Frank, aka Biscuit, and Melody have known each other for years. While away Melody wrote to Frank even though he never wrote her back. When he's finally back in town, after years of being ignored Melody is ready to move on from her crush on Frank.
However, now that Frank is back he's ready to show Melody just how long he's waited for her. He may not be good at words and never wrote her back, but that's only because words just can't express how much she means to him. Plus he's an action man.
So when there's a murder that happens in their small town, Frank will use this opportunity to get closer to Melody and show her that together their good...and just how long he waited for her like she waited for him.

Melody and Frank AKA Biscuit

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A lot more than the first book of the series. I loved how fierce Melody was and how brave he wore her heart in her sleeve. Frank was sweet though I really didn't understand why he never wrote her back. His reasons didn't sound believable to me. I was also looking forward to all the nasty, kinky shit he said he always wanted to do to her but that never really happened. Those ate the reasons I wont give this book a 5* review. However, the plot was engaging and had some crime solving I enjoyed.

a bit boring for a murder mystery romance

1.5/5. I found Frank and Melody’s story to be lackluster and anticlimactic. From the confessions to the reconciliation, the interactions between the two felt forced and awkward. Even the seggs scenes and the banter scenes seemed a bit off putting. Maybe it’s the lack of chemistry.

The murder mystery subplot didn’t help any with the overall impact of the story. It came off as a pointless plot to add intrigue and excitement to an otherwise dull romance story.

Nope

I'm not sure if I like Frank or not. Him seeming hot n cold with Mel was giving me whiplash. But then he came through. I'm not a big fan of some things in this book, but it's ok. What made me dislike this book was the mom n how she treated her daughter Emma. It was sad she didn't have a wedding box for her. It was hurtful n made me cry . I can relate to the feeling. Wished Emma would have stood up for herself more. Then, after Mel took up for the mom made me not like her. So it's a 1.5 for me . I felt so bad fir Emma . She deserved to have a mom who cared for her enf. But the mom cared more bout Mel..

I loved Frank and Melody's story even more than Emma and Vincent's! Frank seems oblivious to Melody's feelings for him. They have known each other forever it seems and she has loved him almost from the start. She even gave him the nickname everyone seems to call him. He never answered a single letter or package that she sent to him. But still waters run deep and he is going to win her heart no matter what it takes. She leads him on a merry chase with a dash of suspense involving a double murder. Very entertaining!

Ah Frank. What a silly, silly man. Poor Melody has been writing Frank for years. Now he is back at home and ready to claim her but there is the little problem of him never writing her back. These two were so fun to read about. I struggled to like Frank in the companion book Chasing You but he redeemed himself in this one. Really fun, exciting, steamy read.

Biscuit [Benson/Frank] has loved Melody forever, but didn’t think he was worthy. Melody wrote him everyday of his deployment - loving him with her whole heart. Only to have him break it when he got home.
Melody makes him work to get back into her good graces. And I love some good grovel. Frank and Melody are adorable together. I really liked their story.

Inconsistencies really detract from the story. At one point she’s a year younger than she’s 15 to his 18…no explanation of if she was ahead in school to make them spend time together in HS. Makes no sense as well how she nicknames him Biscuit for long enough everyone calls him it but she’s not friends with his sister until years later as well.

Amazing

I love a good romance/ mystery book. This was such a cute romance, Melody was always wondering why ‘Frank’ wouldn’t write back. But he explained the age difference, it made so much sense. Their love for each other was strong, so they got back on track. Awwww

Frank and Melody secretly loved each other. But time was not on their side. He left for the military. She sent letters hoping he’d finally see her. Now Fate has them in the same town again. It’s such an easy choice.

Didn’t like very much the H and I was expecting a real conversation or even a confrontation about their past…
I think the first book is better,
