Luke is 23 years old, sexually experienced, very ambitious, and driven to succeed in his career as a barrister. Though his sex life is nearly perfect, he doesn’t understand why he can’t last as long as his younger, inexperienced partner.
Each chapter of this story begins with a day – Saturday or Wednesday, the two days a week that Luke and Justin meet at the club and then return to Luke’s place for sex. Luke is much more comfortable just having sex, but 18-year-old Justin wants more. Though Luke is a leader in the courtroom, he is a submissive in the bedroom and wants Justin to be in control. Luke perceives his inability to last as a failing and becomes more determined to please his lover and Dominant. Unfortunately, lack of communication increases misunderstanding and jeopardizes their relationship.
Despite the story’s short length, the two main characters are fully developed and the emotional impact deeply felt. I loved their hot sex, their growing relationship and the humorous touches throughout. My only gripe is that Justin is way too young to be so self-assured, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. I also loved the way the D/s lifestyle was explored, without violence or humiliation and lots of trust and love.

Her stories make me feel like all sparkly inside like I rolled in the best kind of glitter.
And I find that glitter in the oddest places for days, sometimes months later. It makes me sigh and squee all over again.
You First did it for me. You know I have a weakness for the bondage. Luke does as well. Luke also has a weakness for Justin's form of dominance. The Voice is usually all it takes to gain Luke's submission.
Usually.
You see, Luke's 23 to Justin's 18 and Luke can't seem to outlast Justin which is making him question his prowess. Legal briefs, sports stats, the creepy guard who is creepy aren't enough to stave off orgasm, but Luke is bound and determined to outlast Justin at least once. Maybe then he can consider moving their relationship forward past power games and sex.
Be careful what you wish for.

I have not read a Kim Dare story yet that I did not like. This one was no exception. The insecurities are real and the characters are human with flaws that don't outway the story but enhance it.
My only complaint(and I think I have said this before) is that they are too short. Just when I really get to know the characters the story is over and I am left wanting more.
This is more a 4.5 star review only because the characters were so young to be that good at the D/s game.

This was very surprising. Honestly, I expected it to just be one sex scene after another which, given the summary, is completely founded. However, this had more. It really was sex scene after sex scene but purposefully - Luke was trying to outlast Justin, after all. It's based off Luke's insecurities and need to prove himself (to himself) before he can bring himself to take their relationship outside of just hookups.
This story is a prime example of why you should always talk to people in your life about something no matter how silly or ridiculous it might seem.
I really liked these two together. And it was a great touch how they were already established in their routine and just starting to think about changing the nature of their relationship at the beginning here, even if all the signs already lined up. Plus. Bondage.
Even had some amusing parts, especially towards the end. Things were very well defined as well.
Luke half nodded and then hesitated. "No masturbating," he agreed.
Justin raised an eyebrow at the change of wording.
"I'll still need to aim when I take a leak."
The ending was a perfect way to wrap it up - how it loops around. These are my favorite types.

August 3, 2009This is one of the most nice novella I read lately. And it's strange since usually I don't like BDSM story, but this one is a very slight shade of D / s play, so light that it's more a real "play" between the two men than a real lifestyle.
Luke is 23 years old and he is in love for the first time, even if he still doesn't know it; he is having a perfect relationship with Justin, an 18 years old boy he met in his usual hook up night club. They meet two days per week, on Wednesday and Saturday, and even if Justin in way younger of his usual dominant lovers, he is always able to make their encounter perfect. He is controlled and confident, he leads Luke with a skill that is almost too much for a boy his age; after sex, he is gentle and caring, and he is actually able to have a conversation other than during sex. He cares for Luke's ordinary life, he kindly asks how was his day, if he is tired or worried... Justin is perfect, too perfect.
Luke is a submissive, no doubt about it, but he feels inferior to Justin in everything, not only during sex. It's not right that Luke, older and more experienced, is always the first to come when they are having sex. Luke focuses on this point as the proof that he is not right for a man like Justin. If he is not able to outlast his lover during sex, he is not good to have a real relationship with him. With time, Justin will realize how inferior Luke is, and he will dump him. There are a lot of self-consciousness issues inside Luke that are boiling, and he is not able to overcome them; he is so full deep under them that he is risking the first and only good relationship he is having in years.
Justin maybe is the one that I found a bit too much unbelievable. I don't know, maybe it's only since, from my point of view, 18 years are too young to be so self-confident. Justin is independent, with a good work, a car, a good life, strong basis and positive attitude toward a steady and long term relationship... maybe too much for his age? But there are little chances that he is coming from a good and positive environment, from a supporting family that allows him to grew in the man he is now. If so, it's possible that he is so mature even at only 18 years old. Justin has that aurea around him, the aurea of a boy who is happy and comfortable with himself, an happiness that usually is something you haven't reached but it grew with you. And when the turning point of the story will reveal that yes, Justin is really an 18 years old boy, it's even nicer, since it will prove that he is not some aloof and detached sex machine.
The author is really good in rendering the feeling without making the story full of angst. Luke's issues are real, but he faces them with a light and funny attitude, almost all the time enjoying himself and being good for his lover. If there is a little pouting for not being able to last longer than Justin, it's soon forgotten when Justin cuddles him after sex. Overall the mood of the story is more fun than angst, but fun doesn't mean that the story is not well plotted and good developed; I find it's always a bonus when it happens in a novella, since I believe it's harder to plot and develop a good story in few pages than doing it in a full novel.

*Re-read 7/9/14 for Re-Romancing the Faves Challenge- Still 5 stars. I love Kim Dare. The chemistry between her MCs is always off the charts, and her sex scenes are always HOT. I love how caring and sweet Justin is with Luke, esp after their fight and Luke watches Justin chatting with and dancing with another guy in the club. It was cute that Justin admitted he'd be jealous watching Luke with another guy and when Luke said the other guy was gorgeous, Justin said he wouldn't know because he was watching Luke the whole time. I'm such a sucker for guys being sappy!

Bagus nih, kisah nya tentang Luke dan Justin, menjalin hubungan awalnya hanya sex, tapi beberapa bulan kemudian,after sex, Justin ngajak kencan, dan Luke yang biasa nya manwhore cuma bisa terheran2...dan menyanggupi, kenvan mereka.
Justin dominan antara kedua nya, masalah nya adalah,Luke selalu "keluar" duluan sebelum Justin,dan harga dirinya sebagai player merasa terhina. [image error] Makanya pada suatu saat, dia nahan gak keluar duluan dan Justin tersinggung berat,dan malah Luke ga boleh 'keluar' sama sekali.

While I really liked this one, there was just a little too much sex for my liking. But, I found it amusing how Luke was slightly obsessed with trying to come after Justin (all because Justin is 5 years younger). I preferred the second half of the book to the first half mainly because the first half is mostly sex.
When the story begins, what Justin and Luke have is just a hook-up but then Justin asks Luke on a date and their relationship begins to change. In the second half we actually get more of the story and it revolves around the consequences of Luke trying to outlast Justin and how it conflicts their new found relationship.
As usual, I loved it and I wouldn't say no to reading about these guys again ;-)

I enjoyed this story about a submissive guy (Luke) who is convinced his relationship with his dom (Justin) cannot move beyond "just sex" and be perfect unless he is able to come after his younger dom. The story has a lot of sex since he is constantly trying to gain control. When he is victorious, it is bittersweet in that it doesn't give him the results he was hoping for. This story centers around one guy's views of what being submissive means, and the other guy showing him what it actually means.
I didn't enjoy how much the word "dominant" was used. Luke's consistently referring to needing and wanting his dominant, for some reason, kept distracting me from the story. I enjoyed both Luke and Justin's discoveries about what they needed from each other and look forward to reading more of this series.

Justin and Luke always do "regular hookups" every Wednesday and Saturday night. Each time they met at the same club and then ended in Luke bed for hot sex.
Yep, at first it only "just sex", but the fact is....both Justin and Luke can not denied that they want more than just a hookup but well...both of them keep the feeling for them self.
Everything went smooth actually if Luke and his silly ego about "who come first" didn't blown everything.
And then it's ruined their relationship.
That's it.
Maybe if I read this story back then when I just a newbie in MM story, I will give 4 stars to this book, but since I read it now, when I've been reading A LOT gay romance, well...this story just end as "just so-so" reading for me.
The sex are hot, with light BDSM touch, but again, Luke sillines feels kinda meh for me.

I didn’t love it, maybe it was jut to short and happened to fast so their was no back ground detail really. It was really just about how Luke always came before Justin, and how that frustrated him because he was older than Justin. It was okay and I’ll probably read the next one just because I read the first one, hopefully I will find it more interesting.

I really enjoyed this story, even though it was short. We follow Luke as he struggles to fully accept his submission to his Dom who is five years younger. I liked the subtleties of their relationship, the angst when Luke's idiocy breaks them up, and the super make-up scenes, both the sexy and the relationship building.

Ha! This was kind of great. Funny and sweet and hot all at the same time. The BDSM is light but incredibly sexy and the story is engaging (if a fairly simple one) with lovable characters. Bonus points for the hot cover art.

Very young Dom, and his sub with a timing idea that he can't get rid of. Sometimes those ideas are ridiculous but all consuming and you forget how others may perceive your actions.

Kim Dare always leaves me wanting more! I enjoyed this cute short story about Luke and Justin starting out in a D/s relationship. Without the benefit of good communication, a misunderstanding around who gets off first threatens their relationship almost before it really takes off. I like that their dynamic was flipped from the stereotypical who is Dom and who is sub expectation. Nice!

Too YA for me - Justin was an 18 year old reactive teenager and a really bad Dom. He wanted more from Luke, who was a no relationship kind of guy. Justin pushed Luke for more and didn't have the maturity to manage the D/s relationship when Luke played passive aggressive.

Ugh why is this book so short?? Kim Dare is wonderful as always, which is the main reason I gave this novella three stars.
Justin is an 18 year old who is dominant in bed, and as I was reading I kept thinking about how maybe he should have been written as older. He had enough control over himself and his submissive that really spoke of someone with a ton of experience.. which is weird because when I was in high school I don't remember boys being that way. So it is a little weird that he seems so grown up but, oh well. Luke is twenty-three and this book mainly revolves around his mindset of "oh no, my younger partner lasts longer than me during sex, WHAT'LL I DO?" I know, it seems completely ridiculous.
Honestly, the sex wasn't as hot as it should be, and the plot was based off of one misunderstanding (a minor one, mind you). I honestly finished this book in a half an hour if that, but it is nice to spend .99 cents on a book you know is well written.
I wish I could go in depth about the characters… only the summary for this book pretty much sums it up. There isn't a lot of character development, or backstory, and it's hard to be immersed in Luke's emotions. Also since this could be put under pure smut, it felt as a disappointment in that category. Kim usually writes more passionate scenes. If anyone is looking for basically a story with involving total sex, I recommend "Not His Kiss To Take" which is FREE, and extremely hot.

This was a cute short story about a guy who has a complex about making his Dominant come before he does. Luke doesn't like how little control he has over his body when he's with Justin, so before things can be "perfect" between them, he needs to outlast Justin at least once. The problem is that he gives Justin the wrong idea when it actually happens.
The only odd feeling I had about this story was in how young the two protagonists are. Justin feels too wise as a Dominant at only 18 years old. Honestly, the only thing that felt truly age appropriate to Justin was Otherwise, the story flowed nicely. It was a lot of sex scenes back to back, but given the root of Luke's issue, it makes sense for the story, and they weren't overdone or drawn out.
I did notice a couple of typos and at least one name switch in this one.

I really enjoyed this story. You have Luke a 23 year old submissive manwhore who's been around the block and knows how to have great sex. Then you have Justin an 18 year old alpha who wants more with Luke. They have great sex and great chemistry.
The problem...Luke always comes first. This irritates Luke to no end. He doesn't understand how Justin, and 18 year old can hold out all the time. He tries to hold out on coming but Justin knows exactly what to do to make him come. Then one night while Luke and Justin are with each other, Luke finally succeeds in not coming and Justin takes this the wrong way. He believes that he can't get Luke off anymore. Justin walks away and Luke feels bad.
Justin makes Luke jealous at a club and Luke can't take anymore. They finally confront each other and Luke tells Justin that about his plan on not coming first when they have sex. Justin admits that he jacks off before they meet up cause he gets too riled up for Luke.

I didn't know what to expect from this especially when I found out that Luke was 23 and his dominant Justin was only 18 but that being said, Justin was my favourite character. This was told from Luke's POV but right from the start Justin was a very commanding character. He seemed very mature, articulate and in charge and even though the sex here is only mildly kinky (blindfolds, restraints,orgasm denial) he definitely appears to know what he's doing. He was really sweet too when he told Luke he wanted more than sex and wanted to date.
Luke was so frustrating for not being able to communicate what he wanted but this story was just the right length for it not to be monotonous and drawn out. It's also funny- in the end when Luke finally tells Justin what his issue is and Justin tells him how he lasts so long during sex made me laugh because he is so honest and I appreciated why the author may have made him so young.
Can't wait to read the next one!!!

Twenty-three year old Luke's in love with his eighteen year old boyfriend, Justin. They're happy and everything's going good except for one thing, Luke can't seem to last when they're having sex. Determined to make Justin come first Luke loses sight of what's really important. In the end, it takes almost losing Justin to open Luke's eyes to what's really important.
Although it felt too short I enjoyed this sweet yet sexy story. Both protagonists are engaging, the sex is hot and I liked the touches of humor in the story. If there is one thing that I found a bit off it's Justin's age. The way he is written it feels like he's older. He appears more mature and very knowledgeable about BDSM for someone his age. Overall though it was a nice story.

The only thing i can say is communication and honesty is the key. The entire situation could have been solved in a few seconds if they would have just talked about it!!!
After all the complaining and sulking because he couldn't manage to hold his orgasms Luke finally succeeds and it screws everything up. Number one rule for a submissive is to obey your master! When Justin says come, Luke should have jumped off the cliff right then. And even when Luke actually held back, Justin over reacted.
The story was just not what i expected and the plot bored me! I have heard a lot of hype about Kim Dare's books and i will not judge by this but i do hope the next one i pick up it better!!!!

Kim Dare books are always good just short. This didn't have the depth to make it one of her better ones but I did enjoy it. The whole book is written with Luke as the main character so we really don't see much of what makes Justin tick. Luke seems a strange sub to me but I get he isn't as deep into the life style as some. The thing that surprised me were the ages of the characters. Luke is 23 and Justin 18. Justin seems well versed as a dom for an 18 year old. I had fun reading this and watching Luke screw up a good thing.

This book was a disappointing one for me. I was so looking forward to reading it, since I've enjoyed all of Kim Dare's books. I'm not saying it's a bad book, it just didn't make me feel anything. I still don't understand what Luke's big problem was about! Was saved it and kept me reading was Justin. He was real from the beginning and more so at the end. Luke, well I just thought he was an immature, selfish lover. I'll keep on reading more of this author's book, since she has proven to be a great author and I've enjoyed several of her books. I just hope the others are better than this one.

This is my first Kim Dare novel and it was very short, but not bad. Luke is a barrister (lawyer) and has a regular hook-up that he met at his club named Justin. Luke is 23 and Justin is 18, but Justin wants to take their relationship a step further into the dating realm but Luke doesn't feel like he is ready until he can, well, last longer than Justin in bed. Yes - this the premise of the story. The book is not deep or extremely developed, but I did like Justin and Luke was okay even if he was kind of an idiot.
